Quick Hitter | Jamar Cain Tweet

So a lot of you all saw this tweet from Sooners outside linebacker/defensive line coach Jamar Cain…
***We asked 2021 edge defender Jeremiah ‘Scooby’ Williams if it was about him…he immediately responded and said yes.
***We then asked if it meant that a commitment was coming soon…he did not respond.

***Per our sources, David Abiara had let the Sooners staff know early in the month of June that he would be announcing a decision at the end of June.
Clearly, that time has come and gone. Unless a decision is announced in the next day or two then one has to surmise that he is once again hesitant. Again, per our sources, Abiara had given the Sooners a decision date and it was, as I understand it, articulated that he’d be flipping to Oklahoma.
***As Charlie noted, there has been some buzz around 2021 4-star OLB/DE, Jeremiah Williams (Birmingham, AL).
I want to make a few quick notes in regard to Williams…
Firstly, I have checked with a source on the Alabama side and while they are recruiting Williams, it does appear that with the commitment of Dallas Turner, Jeremiah’s position on the Bama board isn’t quite as high as it once was. What I gather is they aren’t pushing for a commitment from Williams. Same source told me that it was their understanding that Williams was leaning Auburn.
Secondly, the Sooners have been recruiting Williams very hard despite the fact that Cain has already landed two OLB/DE types. I’m told that while the Sooners are technically full there, they believe Williams could be valuable in other linebacker roles. In other words, it sounds like a situation where they’re saying, “Big, tall and athletic? We’ll figure out later!”
Lastly, outside of Cain’s tweet, as Charlie noted Williams is normally responsive but went quiet when we asked if this all meant that a commitment was imminent. I haven’t received a straight answer from anyone just yet but I’ve received enough cryptic type responses from people to at least believe there is a lot smoke surrounding this one.
If Cain really can pull this young man and you consider the two guys he already has in the boat, I think it will send a strong signal to Lincoln Riley that the notion that there are simply certain positions OU is always going to have trouble recruiting is not only antiquated but probably flat out false.
Quick Hitter | 2021 DB Tommi Hill

*** Sooners 2021 defensive back offer Tommi Hill (6’1″ 185) out of Edgewarer, FL was a hot topic on the Donor board Sunday evening into Monday morning..
*** Hill posted a couple of messages on his Instagram story that indicated he was ready to commit to the school of his choosing and, in fact, he would be announcing Monday.
*** While I can confirm that I saw those messages on his Instagram, I was not able to confirm through Tommi that he was actually announcing anything at this time.
*** What I can confirm through sources is that OU is still actively recruiting Hill and there is some confidence that they stand in a good position there.
*** Obviously, he did not make an announcement.
*** We will continue to gather any information we can in regards to when he plans on making an announcement about his commitment.
The Latest | 2021 DL Kelvin Gilliam – Plan & Timeline

Sooners priority defensive line target Kelvin Gilliam (6’3″ 250) out of Highland Springs, Va recently dropped his top 10 list, which included Oklahoma.
Following the commitment of his close friend and training partner, Caleb Williams, I checked in with Gilliam to see where things stand.
*** On the announcement of Williams and if Caleb hit him up following his commitment Gilliam said: ‘We were already talking about that so I already knew what it was lol”
*** In regards to where he is at in his recruitment, Kelvin told me: “I could release a top five at the end of July and be committed by August”
*** He added: “If that doesn’t happen, I may wait until they open visits back up”
The Sooners are in this one and the public addition of Williams to the class will only bolster their chances. He is one recruit where we will all get some direct intel in regards to how much of a factor ‘The Williams Effect’ will be for the class.

***Sounds like the Sooners have moved into the lead position for a particular defensive player.
***He is someone we have mentioned but we haven’t talked a lot about him since mid-spring.
***He isn’t from the area.
***I’m waiting to hear back from him on when he will announce.
***Sources from his area have indicated to me that the Sooners are out front.
***Let me gather a bit more information on a possible decision date and I’ll report more then.
