FOOTBALL
I didn’t really think this was a big deal, especially since it happened last week, but it started to make its way thru the news cycle yesterday…so here ya go. (Deadspin)
Joe C. & Bob spoke at last night’s Sooner Caravan, said nothing. (NewsOK)
The suggestion here, which is ultimately dismissed, of OU building a new stadium rather than renovating is beyond absurd. I get what the guy is saying, but here is less than zero chance OU would even consider the idea of something like that for I’d say probably decades. (Sporting News)
Not sure how realistic it is, but Jacksonville is apparently of the opinion that Aaron Colvin can contribute in ’14. (Jaguars)
This guys seems to think Corey Nelson has a pretty good shot of making the Broncos. (FanSided)
Oh, Mike, no.

The Big 12 softball awards were released yesterday. (Big 12)
And while OU’s Patty Gasso was justifiably named the Coach of the Year…(Twitter)
…Kady Self was royally screwed out of the Player of the Year award*. (Twitter)
*You can compare the stats of Self and the winner of the award, Texas’ Taylor Thom, here. Spoiler alert, they aren’t even really close.
Interesting.

Sure hope they don’t push Colvin too fast. If they let him heal completely he will have a great career.
Holy $h*t that’s an ugly shirt!
Permission to come aboard? Great site, gentlemen. Just fantastic. On a reply note, it’s horrific OSU color disasters like this shirt that makes me think “Egad, no wonder the Pokes didn’t make their APR stats. Who can concentrate blinded by safety cone orange?” But then, I’m a mean old broad.

I know some people are pissed about the POY award, but I don’t think they’re looking at just the Big 12 games. When you compare the entire season, Self doesn’t really even qualify. I talked about this last week on LT with some guys that were already upset about it. She has LESS THAN HALF (about 44%) the ABs as the other top hitters in the league. She only had 73 ABs while the other top hitters avg ~165 ABs. If you only look at Big 12 game stats, then it’s a runaway for Self. When you look at the whole season, then no.

The criteria for the award is supposed to be specific to Big 12 play.
Chase/Jordan, the only thing I can think of then would be fielding. I cannot find individual fielding stats, so I have no idea how much each girl played in the field or how many plays they made. Otherwise I agree, Self was a no-brainer.
Self plays the OF & Thom is a SS, so it would be a pointless comparison and an even dumber thing to use to differentiate the two in justifying the award to the latter.
It’s simple. Self got screwed. Thom got it b/c she’s a senior. It’s clearly not based on stats b/c the two aren’t even really comparable.
The only thing that I can think of that could hurt Katy’s POTY resume, and this is REALLY reaching, is that she missed a few big 12 games with injury. Even still, I think she was the best player, injury or no injury.
Possibly. I know I heard Gasso say she hoped Self wasn’t punished for missing those last four (I think it was) games.
POY award is supposed to strictly deal with conference play, ie BIG 12, not the entire season.
Don’t follow softball, what happened to L Chamberlain?
Amy Schumer = not funny. Ever.
I think she’s funny, just too vulgar sometimes, like most comedians; she’s no Brian Reagan or Jim Gaffigan, though, that’s for sure.
