The Sooners picked up a nice linebacker commitment as Shane Whitter (6’0 222lbs) out of Burlington, NC has flipped from Wake Forest to Oklahoma!
Whitter visited Oklahoma for the TCU game and that was enough for him to make the call to walk away from the Demon Deacons and pledge his future to the Sooners!
Whitter had been committed to Wake since March and he had a bunch of other schools working to get him in for a visit, but it wasn’t until the Sooners came calling that he decided to look around. As his coach said to Super K last week ‘When OU comes knocking, you have to take that seriously”.
The commitment of Whitter gives the Sooners three linebackers in the class. Whitter has some really eye-opening verified measurables as he ran a 4.51 forty, a 4.41 shuttle, and has a 34.50 vertical.
We will have more on Whitter, but by all appearances, he is a really nice fit for Sooners defensive coordinator Alex Grinch’s ‘Speed D’.
Sooners linebacker coach Brian Odom has done a really nice job recruiting in his first year in Norman.
