Sooners Add (Different) JUCO Point Guard

After originally accepting a commitment last week from junior college point guard Gio McLean only to have the NCAA call into question his eligibility, the Sooners have apparently now been forced to move on in search of a replacement for Je’lon Hornbeak.

Enter another JUCO point guard in Dinjiyl Walker who tweeted Thursday night that he had signed with OU. The 6’2″ Walker averaged sixteen points a game this past season for Iowa Western CC. He also pulled down 3.9 rebounds per game, handed out 2.4 assists, and shot nearly 40% from behind the arc.

You can see some of Walker’s highlights here.

As long as he’s capable of spelling Woodard with good minutes, then we can get back to salivating over the talented size coach Kruger brought in to a team that was already good without it last season… Dunk city is coming to Norman, y’all.

I’m from the Omaha area & I went to multiple IWCC games while he was there. He’s a very streak shooter but when he’s on, he can put 20 up on the board real quick. He’s a good fit in an up-tempo style of play.
