The Path to Norman
Coach Lincoln Riley and Spencer Rattler have a very long relationship. The top-ranked quarterback was offered by Riley over three years ago and was excited to get on campus. Once he did, he loved everything about it.

Shortly after, he announced his intentions to attend OU, giving the Sooners their quarterback very early in the recruiting class.

Career so Far
Rattler arrived in Norman this summer and didn’t have the chance to grow in spring practice in Norman. However, it didn’t take long for folks to notice just how good he was. One source said, “[he] has the most swag and when he takes over the offense every one on the field and in the stands sits up straight to watch or move to the edge of their seats.” He has been continuously impressive this summer as he shows off his arm and “it” factor.

Highlights
2019 Season
Coach Riley announced recently that Jalen Hurts would be the starting quarterback, backed up by Tanner Mordecai then Rattler. However, it truly seems that both Mordecai and Rattler are on par with Hurts’ arm and that OU really would be in good hands with any of the three options. With an opportunity to see action in up to four games but still redshirt, Rattler can take the season to continue growing, watch a veteran quarterback at work, and be ready to compete for the starting job in 2020.
