Coming Soon | Tight End U?
– James Hale
*** The good news continues to roll in in recent weeks for the Sooners on the recruiting trail as four-star tight end Jalin Conyers (6’4, 220) of Gruver, Texas committed to OU. Conyers committed to the Sooner based off two unofficial visits with his entire family on the trips.
*** “I was going through the visits and the whole recruiting process and OU was always at the top of my list and who I liked the most,” said Conyers recently on my radio show Total Sports on KREF Radio and sportstalk1400.com. “I started out liking five schools and then, of course, I went from a top 12 to a top 6, and then three. I just kind of kept OU up there the whole time. Then of course going on the visits, the two unofficial’s, OU made them seem like official visits.”
*** “I loved it and got to watch the team workout. I just kind of got to see what OU Football is all about. I enjoyed it and narrowed my decision down to three as I went on unofficial visits to Georgia and Ohio State too. Coming back home from both of those, neither one of them felt the same as my visits to OU. Lincoln Riley and Cale Gundy made them feel like home and not only for me but for my family. I think it is the best decision for me and I can’t wait to be a Sooner.”
*** OU offered Conyers based off not only his football film but basketball film as early in his life he thought he was going to be a D-1 hoopster.
*** “Coach Gundy was texting me and calling me a lot that is one thing that I enjoyed about the recruiting process with Oklahoma,” said Conyers. “Talking to Coach Gundy was always something that I looked forward to. He has only been involved with me since football season but it seems like we have known each other for a while now.”
*** With the Conyers, like many families, the player has his family as his support group and in Jalin’s case, that’s his entire family.
*** “Going through the recruiting process was a first for these guys too,” said his mom Kimberly. “A lot of kids start as freshman or sophomore’s and we were kind of late in the game. Jalin really wasn’t exposed or getting noticed until this year which, looking back on it now, I’m so grateful because recruiting is so hectic and stressful. I think it was a blessing in disguise.”
*** “We were just trying to be there to support him, guide him and give advice when he asked for it. We would give our opinions and then sit back and enjoy the process. We thoroughly enjoyed it and we’re humbled by it and look at it as a blessing.”
*** “We enjoyed it. We were constantly getting to go to places and we kept reminding Jaln that this was something that not many kids get to experience. We told him to soak it up and enjoy it but also realize that not everybody is blessed or privileged enough to get to take a part in. We were just trying to be there for him and guide him and give him direction as much as we could so that he could just sit back and enjoy it.”
*** Remember unofficial visits are totally on the prospects dime and the Conyers brought the entire family to Norman to take a look. That meant all his brothers and sisters (4) and grandma and grandpa and even an aunt and an uncle on their trips to Norman.
*** “We went on unofficial’s to the other schools as well,” said Kimberly. “That was just something that we committed to because we felt he needed to see everything and not settle. We wanted him to be sure about his decision and not think that he chose this school because it was close or because it was convenient. We wanted to get him exposed to all the different schools that he had a chance to play at.”
*** “So, while it may have been a little bit of an inconvenience maybe or pricy we felt it was going to be something that was important for his future. We wanted to be sure and not leave anything to second guesses on whether he had made the right decision or not.”
*** Conyers plans to be at the BBQ on the 27th and says he has not decided which game to come to yet for his official visit.
Talking Point | Dynamic Sooners in Stoops/Riley Eras
– Charlie S
The Twitter account @soonergridiron puts out some tremendous content on a daily basis and this mornings contribution is no exception as he continues to produce a quality countdown to gameday. If you don’t already follow him, I highly recommend you do.
This clip of running back Joe Mixon scoring on a 43-yard swing pass against Texas Tech in that wild shootout is sheer pleasure to watch.
I remember being on the phone with Super K as the play unfolded and in the same quarter that as this play he had an even more amazing run which was called back due to a penalty.
Mixon shows off his one of a kind skillset as he makes a one-handed catch on the move and then shows off his speed and balance. It was remarkable all around.
WHICH BRINGS ME TO OUR DISCUSSION TOPIC…
In your opinion, which skill-position player in the Bob Stoops/Lincoln Riley era did you find to be the most dynamic player?
I know there will be a lot of love for Baker and Kyler…but man, Mixon was special in all facets of the game. Speed, power, pass-catching, wiggle…just so fun to watch.
Interested to read your thoughts!
Sooners Impressing Florida Pair | Sourced

This elite 2021 skill position camp, Prime 21, took place this past weekend.
Our CJ Vogel was there. He may have some notes for you. But I did want to pass along a very intriguing note from the camp.
I spoke with someone who was at the camp and said person tells me that OU is making serious moves with two of the best 2021 wide receivers in the country.
***5 star Agiye Hall (Seffner, FL) – If you recognize the city or the school (Armwood) it’s because Sooners former LB, Eric Striker hails from Armwood.
Most assumed that Hall would be headed to Clemson but apparently the word around the camp is that Hall is very enamored with Oklahoma. In fact, the person I spoke with said that Hall told some folks that OU is his current leader…
***4 star Mario Williams (Plant City, FL) – Mario is another elite 2021 WR. I was told he is every bit of Hollywood Brown. Person I spoke with said that OU is also his leader. And, was also told that Williams and Hall are close friends (both are from the Tampa area).
I was also told that Brock Vandagriff has apparently been recruiting both of the wide receivers. The appeal of Lincoln Riley and the OU offense and now the number one quarterback in the class is resonating.
I was told they were hoping to make it out to the BBQ but Williams has a baseball conflict.
