According to SoonerSports,
“[Beamer] served as special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Georgia the last two seasons. Beamer will be OU’s assistant head coach for offense and will coach the team’s tight ends and H-backs. Riley said Beamer will also work with assistant coach Jay Boulware in overseeing the Sooners’ special teams.”
Beamer played at Virginia Tech in the 1990’s under his legendary father, Frank Beamer. He started coaching at Georgia Tech as a GA. Then, he was a defensive coach at Mississippi State, then South Carolina coaching CB’s at both schools, and then South Carolina for LB and ST. In 2011, he switched to the offensive side of the ball at Virginia Tech, coaching RB’s. Beamer has spent the past two years coaching at Georgia over tight ends and special teams.
Coach Riley is landing a guy that he wants – that sounds like a good thing for Sooner Nation.
