– Delarrin Turner-Yell: This past weekend, as expected, the Sooners landed 2018 DB, Delarrin Turner-Yell (Hempstead, TX).
As we mentioned last week, the Sooners would ideally like to add one more DB but it would need to be the right defensive back.
I did catch up with Ohio State commit and Sooners target, Jaiden Woodbey over the weekend and he said he will be in Columbus for the OU vs. Ohio State game. He predicted that the Buckeyes would win by two touchdowns. Should OU win, one has to wonder if Woodbey will make good on his initial desire to visit OU.
In addition to Woodbey, we’ve previously noted that OU would also take Proctor or CJ Smith (visiting for the Iowa State game). But the Sooners also like… – (Super K)
– Kalon Gervin | Official Visit: Kalon Gervin (Detroit, MI) is another defensive back that the Sooners would take. The former Notre Dame commit almost announced a commitment this summer. His likely destination would have been Virginia Tech. But Gervin held off in order to visit OU.
Gervin tells me that he has set up his official visit to Oklahoma. He will take his official visit on September 16th when the Sooners host Tulane.
Gervin has mentioned also wanting to official visit Alabama, Florida and Virginia Tech. My sense however, is that given the Sooners are in a first come first serve spot, if Gervin is blown away by the visit, they’d have some room to seek for an early decision. Additionally, I’ve never gotten the sense from Gervin that he’s enamored by the idea of prolonging his recruitment.
Again, but for his desire to visit Norman, Gervin he would’ve announced a decision this summer. – (Super K)
– Tre Bobby Brown: Sooners top defensive lineman tells us that he will take an official visit to OU. We are still working to confirm the date but we’ll try to keep track of his weekly happenings.
This week Brown will visit Baylor. I expect him to visit OU, Texas, TAMU and Alabama between now and his decision comes which is expected early November. – (Super K)
