With the holiday’s and the dead period, things are going to be a bit slow this week. We do hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July!
– DaShaun White: This past weekend, Sooners 2018 LB target, DaShaun White (Richland, TX) tweeted out the following…
Commitment month…..
— DaShaun White (@Demoeto) July 1, 2017
As we previously noted, White is expected to be in Norman after the dead period is over. In talking to DaShaun it’s clear the Sooners and Texas A&M are two of his top schools. However, a source close to White tells me that Oklahoma State is another school that White and his family are seriously considering. I’m told that they have a very good relationship with the Oklahoma State staff.
I did check with DaShaun to see if he’d set a date for his visit back up to Norman and he said that he expects it to be sometime between the 9th and the 14th but said he will let us know once the date has been confirmed. So we expect White to make it sometime next week. White took a recent return visit to Texas A&M so it does appear he’s making some final visits before he makes his decision. When I spoke to White recently he said he and his family have narrowed things down but haven’t made their final choice. This final visit to OU will be critical. – (Super K)
– Dillon Faamatau: ICYMI, per Brandon, Sooners last minute DT signee has made it…
#Sooners 2017 DL signee @DillonFaamatau has arrived at #OU. JUCO classes are over & Faamatau career at #Oklahoma is beginning. @TFB_Sooners

– Merlin Robertson: We are working on getting more details but we are told that the Sooners have been making some in-roads with highly coveted 2018 LB, Merlin Robertson (Gardena, CA) and that the big man is expected to visit OU at some point. We’re hoping to get a date for you all very soon but wanted to go ahead and put him on your radar.
– Kalon Gervin: I spoke with Kalon Gervin recently who told me that he was planning to announce his final decision sometime in the next week two to three weeks. As you know the Sooners built a great relationship with Gervin but so far have not been able to get Gervin on campus. Gervin took recent visits to Oregon and Virginia Tech and told me that he has a close connection with VA Tech head coach Fuente.
However, I texted Gervin a couple days ago to see if the plan to commit was still a go and he responded and he said, “I don’t know”. I suspect the Sooners are trying to make sure he’s able to make it down to OU for the BBQ this month. There is confidence on the OU side that if they can get him down to Norman, they’ll be tough to beat. Still waiting for final word on whether Gervin will be able to make it. – (Super K)
