– Raymond Scott: As you know by now 2018 Harbor City, CA (Narbonne HS) and USC linebacker commit, Raymond Scott, visited Oklahoma this past weekend. Scott and I spoke last night the USC commit really came away impressed with Oklahoma.
Scott told TFB, “The coaches and university really made me feel at home…It’s like a family there. That is one of the main things I am looking for is family atmosphere to go with academics and winning.” Scott told TFB that he is working on setting up an official visit to OU.
Apparently the Sooners are only one of three programs Scott is considering, “I have only three main schools at the moment. I visited Oregon last month and of course OU and USC who I am committed to right now.”
Scott was very open about the fact that he let USC know that he was going to visit OU and Oregon from the moment he committed. Scott says USC was okay with it all. Scott says his close relationship with Sooners linebacker coach Tim Kish has played a massive part in his interest in Oklahoma.
With Scott already certain he will take an official visit to Oklahoma added it to the fact that he visited Norman on his own dime, there’s little question the Sooners are very much this one. – (Brandon)
– Treveon Johnson: We informed you, recently, that Oklahoma is set to host Giddings (TX) wide receiver Treveon Johnson this week. Johnson was supposed to be in Norman this coming Wednesday but that visit has been pushed back to Saturday.
Things still look good for Oklahoma here. Oklahoma has been the leader for Johnson since he decommitted from Texas Tech back in early May. We will be paying attention to his visit very closely. You should be too. – (Brandon)
– Wide Receiver Numbers: A source tells me that with the departure of Dahu Green, the Sooners will now likely take four wide receivers in this class. – (Brandon)
– Dillon Faamatau: Late last night, sometime around the three run homerun from Shay Knighton that would ultimately lead to a first game Sooners victory, news broke about that Oklahoma picked last 2017 prospect for the already ballyhooed 2017 class (was first reported by Josh McCuistion of Sooner Scoop).
2017 JUCO (Cerritos College, California) defensive lineman Dillon Faamatau visited the Sooners this past weekend and, as we reported, came away thinking about pulling the trigger while on his visit. Faamatau wanted to go back to California and hash things out, which obviously didn’t take long. He informed Sooners defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux that he wanted to become a Sooner. This should offer the Sooners some immediate help on the defensive line.
Faamatau started his career with the Arizona State Sun Devils before transferring to Cerritos College. From there he committed to USC, on April 30th, before figuring out that the transfer rules would force him to wait an additional year before playing. There seems to have been an additional academic element at play.
