Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!
– Anthony McKinney: The Sooners have been in pursuit of talented JUCO OT, Anthony McKinney (Iowa Western) for quite some time. In fact the Sooners were one of McKinney’s first offers.
I recently caught up with McKinney and he let me know that he will take an unofficial visit to Oklahoma this upcoming weekend. McKinney has been planning a summer trip to Norman for a while and it looks like that is about to happen.
McKinney also says that he will announce his final decision, “sometime in the first week of August”.
McKinney’s hudl is set on private so we haven’t had a chance to review his film but we can tell you that based on OU’s unwavering interest in him, he must be exceptional. – (Super K)
– Bryson Jackson: Yesterday the Sooners offered 2018 WR, Bryson Jackson (Houston, TX).

I’ve had my eye on Jackson for a while. I got a chance to see him at a 7v7 event earlier this spring and was very impressed. Jackson is built like a 100m sprinter (he is a track sprinter). He has great hands in traffic. I saw a guy who gave effort on every play. What really impressed me was that he was able to stack his defenders multiple times and despite the fact that the QB didn’t throw it his way he’d come right back and go hard the very next play.
Jackson said about the OU offer, “it’s a dream school so I’m very excited”. He also added that he will “for sure” get up to Norman for a visit to OU. – (Super K)
– Tanner Mordecai: Earlier this spring the Sooners offered 2018 QB, Tanner Mordecai (Waco, TX). Getting an update on Mordecai has proven to be a little difficult.
I did reach out to his QB trainer, Kevin Murray, father of Sooners QB, Kyler Murray who raved about Mordecai. Unfortunately, he didn’t give me any updates on Mordecai’s recruiting situation but one would have to think that a tie to Kevin Murray would help the Sooners.
We are trying to find out if Mordecai is planning a trip up to OU anytime soon. – (Super K)
– Mayan Ahanotu: The Sooners hosted 2018 DL, Mayan Ahanotu (Tampa, FL) this past weekend.
Ahanotu spoke highly of his visit saying he loved the visit and really loved the people. Most of the players weren’t on campus but he did get a chance to meet Sooners DB, Steven Parker. Ahanotu also said that the town of Norman in general exceeded his expectations, “there’s a lot of cools stuff in town but the highlight was meeting all of the coaches and seeing the new facilities”.
As of right now Mayan says he doesn’t have a decision date set but it sounds like he’s going to take his official visits. Did the Sooners do enough to put themselves in contention. According to Mayan it’s an emphatic yes and will take an official visit to OU, “For sure I have to experience what it’s like on game day”. – (Brandon)
