Drew Sanders: With Oklahoma still in search of a 2018 QB, that hasn’t stopped offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley from searching for quarterbacks in other recruiting cycles. A few months ago, I came across the video of 2020 (so weird to write) Lake Dallas QB, Drew Sanders. It wasn’t just Sanders’ arm that caught my attention; it was the fact that, at 6’5″ and 210 lbs, he was also playing linebacker and chasing the opposing quarterback. Sanders had this tenacity, grit, and hard-nosed mentality that you have seen in almost every OU quarterback for some time.

Yesterday, the Sooners joined Baylor, Tulsa, and Houston as early offers for the star soon-to-be sophomore quarterback.

When talking to Sanders, he told TFB that he plans on attending and participating in the OU camp down at the University of North Texas campus later this summer. Sanders seems to have real interest in Oklahoma and, with the extension to Lincoln Riley, that interest isn’t likely to wane. It is early, however, so as Sanders continues to get offers, we will have to see where he stands. There is so long to go until 2020. – (Brandon)

– Tommy Bush: A Sooners 2018 wide receiver target is Schertz (Samuel Clemens HS) Texas star, Tommy Bush. Bush and TFB spoke over the last couple of days, and it seems the Sooners staff is really pushing him at this point. Bush had Sooners offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley and outside wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons at his practice earlier this week. Bush told TFB that he and Riley spoke after practice by text (they cannot speak in person) and then talked on the phone a bit as well. Bush said that he was also set to talk with Sooners head coach Bob Stoops on Thursday afternoon.

With Oklahoma really pushing Bush, I asked if he planned on visiting anytime this summer and Bush said, “I do. I want to talk with Coach Simmons about how I fit in their system and see the academic side of things.” TFB asked Bush if there was a timeline for a decision, but he said he really didn’t have one at this point. When he does, he said it will be a family decision. Rest assured, though, OU will be in that final group come decision time. – (Brandon)

Joshua Moore: A lot of people have wondered why OU wasn’t in the 2018 IMG WR’s final cut. That has a lot to do with the Sooners staff feeling more confident in their chances with other wide receivers like Kundarrius Taylor, Tommy Bush and Treveon Johnson. – (Brandon)

Malik Heath: Another WR OU fans need to pay attention to is Malik Heath from Callaway HS (Jackson, MS).

Heath is currently committed to Mississippi State. Heath and Sooners WR coach Dennis Simmons have been in contact quite a bit lately, and TFB was told that the OU WR coach was in Jackson, MS to watch the star receiver yesterday. Heath does not have an offer from OU just yet, but that could change in the coming weeks. (Brandon)

– UPDATE: 6:00 PM Friday

2018 QB Adrian Martinez has committed to Tennessee.

We mentioned earlier this week that Lincoln Riley and company are wanting to find their guy at quarterback soon. It seems that the interest from OU increased the pressure from Tennessee on Martinez to commit. As we’ve mentioned this week, there are a few options that Riley is looking at for 2018 QB. We’ll have more on those options in the days to come. – (Lewis)

UPDATE: 7:00 PM Saturday

Wide receiver Zach Farrar was announced his intent to transfer. Farrar was a redshirt freshman in 2016. He spent some time with the baseball program as well. Here’s hoping his next phase works out well. – (Lewis)
