– Ron Tatum: 2018 DE, Ron Tatum (Putnam City, OK) is set to announce his decision today at 1:30 pm.

In yesterday’s Open Post we mentioned that our sources on both Texas and the Oklahoma side felt good about where they stood with Tatum. As of now, our sources on the Texas side tell us the Longhorn staff continues to feel good about landing Tatum. Our sources on the Oklahoma side have indicated that the staff is uncertain. – (Super K)

– 2018 QB Search | A New Hope: With the loss of Cameron Rising as the quarterback in the 2018 class the Sooners offensive staff has been laying out possible candidates to take his spot. Last night TFB got word that OU has reached out to former Cal commit, and former high school teammate of Caleb Kelly at  Clovis High School in Fresno (CA), Adrian Martinez.

I was able to get in contact with Martinez and he told me that he is expected to talk with Sooners offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley sometime today. Martinez said that he is high on Tennessee remains high on Cal. He did indicate that his relationship with Caleb Kelly is something that makes Oklahoma very intriguing, even though the Sooners are begging to recruit him much later than other programs. Today could be the day we start to see the direction OU decides to head in with regards to the quarterback for the 2018 class. – (Brandon)

– More on Casey Thompson: K indicated earlier in the week that the staff remained periodically in touch with Casey Thompson. I was also able to confirm that Casey Thompson is on the Sooners list of possible quarterbacks they are interested in. I’m told there are several names on the list. But a source indicated, however, that the staff has a good idea of who they want. I cannot confirm who that is at this time but I suspect we will know in short order. – (Brandon)

2018 DL Ron Tatum out of Putnam City has committed to Texas over Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, and TCU. We don’t expect the Sooners to stop recruiting him, but this is a major win for Herman and company.
