– Jordan Kelley and TJ Pledger: As you all know by now the Sooners filled a couple spots this weekend when, as expected, they added 2018 in-state DT, Jordan Kelley and 2018 RB, TJ Pledger.
I spoke with Kelley after his commitment and he said his priority now is to recruit for the Sooners. He mentioned Ron Tatum and Jalen Redmond as the two guys he and Patrick Fields are focused on landing at the moment.
As we mentioned Friday, Calvin Avery let us know that he was told there was, at the moment, only one spot for him or Kelley so I’d assume the Sooners have moved on from Avery.
However, I did check with Trevor Trout and it sounds like he was not told anything of the sort so presumable the Sooners are still going to recruit him.
With regards to Pledger, he was back home in California yesterday playing in a 7v7 tournament. I spoke to a source close to Pledger and, as Pledger himself said, he’s 100% solid to OU and is already recruiting his IMG teammates to OU… – (Super K)
– Reuben Unije: One guy that Pledger is recruiting is 2018 OT, Reuben Unije (IMG Academy). Unije let me know last night that he plans on visiting Oklahoma soon but doesn’t have a date set just yet.
– Curtis Dunlap: Unije isn’t the only IMG Academy offensive line prospect the Sooners have a shot at. Curtis Dunlap has long told us that the Sooners are a favorite of his. In fact, last year I remember speaking to Dunlap and he mentioned the Sooners were his leader. We’ve even heard rumors that Dunlap may even be a silent commit to OU. But again, I emphasize those are unconfirmed rumors. Dunlap dropped his top five yesterday and the Sooners, not surprisingly, made the cut…

– Brian Asamoah: Last week the Sooners offered 2018 LB, Brian Asamoah (Columbus, OH). Asamoah was planning on announcing his commitment in April but has postponed the date and tells me that he will visit Oklahoma for the spring game.
Asamoah says he has not rescheduled his commitment date but obviously is open to the idea of committing fairly early so it’ll be good for the Sooners to get him on campus in April.
If you want to see a twitchy LB…check this fella out!
– Team Note | Offensive Line: Was told that the offensive line has been absolutely dominant. This offensive line is not only talented by a source tells me they are extremely physical. It sounds like they had their way with the defensive line this past week.
This should bring out the best in the defensive line so it’ll be interesting to see how they respond this week.
The offensive line reviews were great but the running backs… – (Super K)
– Team Note | Running Backs: I’m hearing the running backs are still very much works in progress. They seem to be struggling to read their blocks and find the hole. This is expected though. You aren’t going to lose two backs like Mixon and Perine and not see a transition period. Still plenty of time till fall for the running backs to get reps and continue to improve. – (Super K)
