Open Post | Weekend, March 3rd – 5th (UPDATED 8:25 am)

Asa Martin: As we mentioned yesterday, the Sooners will host 2018 RB, Asa Martin (Decatur, AL) this weekend.

Martin says he will arrive in Norman today and stay until Sunday. Martin actually has a connection the Sooner state. He tells us that he has family that lives in Lawton, OK.

The Sooners have yet to offer Martin but should an offer come Martin says, “I can say this, they will definitely be top five or higher if they offer”.

In terms of a commitment timeline, I wouldn’t rule out something happening pretty quickly. Martin says he’s recently taken trips to Auburn and Ole Miss and with this OU visit says he will be ready to commit much earlier than he originally expected, “I initially planned to wait till December [to commit] but now I could pull the trigger a lot sooner”.

It is important to note that a source on the OU side tells us that OU is looking to take two running backs in this class so nothing has changed with regards to Pledger. – (Super K)

Jeff Badet: Kentucky WR graduate transfer, Jeff Badet, confirms he still plans on visiting Oklahoma this weekend.

Badet says he will also visit Troy on March 24th – 28th, Virginia Tech on April 7th – 9th and Oregon on April 21st – 23rd.

Badet also tells us that he will announce his decision in late April following his Oregon visit. – (Brandon)

Ronnie Perkins: As we mentioned yesterday, 2017 DE, Ronnie Perkins (St. Louis, MO) tells us he plans on getting down to Norman for the spring game in April.

I caught up with Perkins yesterday and he said in no uncertain terms that of all the staffs, he is closest to the Oklahoma staff. Despite that, it could be a while before a decision comes.

Perkins says he plans on making his decision on signing day. Also, the Sooners will have to fight off Missouri where his brother Ronnell currently plays. However, Perkins says that his brother isn’t recruiting him to Missouri, “he wants me to create my own path”.

Perkins has already visited Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri, Illinois and Ohio State. Other than Oklahoma he says, at some point he plans on visiting LSU, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Oregon and Miami.

Having said all that, the Sooners will have a chance to impress Perkins next month and perhaps convince him to move his decision date and help recruit some of the other players in this ultra talented state of Missouri class and ensure he is a leader of this Sooners class. – (Super K)

Gemon Green: The Sooners have offered 2018 CB, Gemon Green (Desoto, TX)

Green says he will visit Oklahoma in the very near future and I expect the Sooners to be an immediate player for the talented cornerback. It’s starting to look more and more like Texas will clean up in Houston with the talented DBs in the city. But it really shouldn’t affect the Sooners much if they’re able to lock up their own borders with Fields and Proctor and grab a couple DBs like Cam Jones and Gemon Green (or guys like Tanner McCallister) out of the Dallas area. – (Super K)

UPDATE (8:25 am): Wanted to remind everyone that 2018 DB, Patrick Fields (Tulsa, OK) will announce his commitment this weekend. Fields will decide between Oklahoma, TCU and Texas. I like where OU stands but we shall see on Sunday. Our Alex King will be at the Opening this weekend for Fields’ announcement. – (Super K)
