TFB Stuff: A few quick things regarding the site we wanted to go over with you, our TFB family.

1. You have probably seen some new ad placements around the site. We are currently testing some different ads so you’ll see them come and go, possibly change location, etc. We are dedicated to keeping this website free to our readers but we’d also like to be able to expand your experience by adding some exciting new features, bring on some new members, etc. in 2017.

How can you help us? Keep visiting. Be patient with us. Hit us up on twitter and make suggestions. Try to click on an ad when it comes to mind…they’re safe.

2. Our developer is making some aesthetic changes to the site. This will just be the beginning. Again, we hope to add some new features in 2017.

3. If anyone has a marketing or sales background (preferably related to digital ads or digital planning via an agency or company) and feels they can help please reach out to us on our main account or reach out to me personally on my twitter account or send an email through the form. Our metrics show that based on our readership size and location TFB is currently visited by about 1 in every 40 people in the TX/OK region.

– Jaylon Johnson: Last night we reported that OU QC assistant, Chip Viney has accepted a position at Nevada under former OU WR coach, Jay Norvell.

Viney was known to be a great asset as a recruiter. A question that came to mind for many was how his departure would affect Jaylon Johnson’s decision.

I have checked with Johnson and haven’t heard back just yet. However, in speaking to folks around the program I’m told that they still feel good about where things stand with Johnson. I am told that for someone as highly recruited as Johnson, what really matters is his relationship with the head man, Bob Stoops.

Coaches come and go so for someone like Johnson whose older brother went through the recruiting process, it seems he knows that the best thing to do is ensure he has a relationship with the head coach. – (Super K)

– Taquon Graham: Yesterday I spoke to a source close to 2017 DE, Taquon Graham (Temple, TX). As you know Graham is expected to take an official visit to OU in January. The source mentioned that other schools that Graham is considering for official visits are Michigan, TCU, Alabama and USC. But the source said that at this point, the real threat to Texas for Graham’s service remains Oklahoma.

Why?

“His relationship with Thibodeaux”. Source continued, “he likes Giles but he doesn’t know Giles like he knows Thibodeaux. He trusts him (Thibs) and he feels good about their relationship”.

You’ll recall that Graham originally made a visit up to Norman this past summer with one of the Temple HS coaches and came away thoroughly impressed. The challenge for OU will be Graham’s family who are long time Texas fans. However, I am also told that they will support Graham’s decision either way.

The upcoming trip to OU will be the first for Taquon’s mother and I’m told that for OU and any other school recruiting Graham, winning her over will be critical. – (Super K)

– Reese Leitao: Oklahoma recently offered 2017 in-state TE/DE, Reese Leitao (Jenks, OK). Leitao recently announced his recommitment from Nebraska.

Reese recently visited both TCU and Texas and Rivals.com has reported that he will visit LSU immediately after the dead period. Oklahoma and TCU are recruiting Reese as a defensive end. Texas and LSU want him as a TE.

I asked Reese if he would take an official visit to OU and he said, “probably not”.

Reese currently stands around 6’5 240 lbs. His father is 6’8 and his mother is 5’10 so don’t be surprised if he continues to grow. I recently reviewed his DE film and given his potential size, I came away impressed.

At this point a visit is not expected but with OU being right up the rode and having such strong ties to Jenks HS, if the Sooners push they may be able to get him on campus for a visit and that’s typically where OU shines. – (Super K)

– Addison Gumbs: Many of you have been asking about the status of Addison Gumbs and whether he has signed his financial aid agreement with Oklahoma. I spoke to a source who said that the hold up appears to be a pending background check and some final paper work via compliance.

I am told that the Sooners expect Gumbs to sign and everything should be cleared sometime in the next 48 hours. After which, again, Gumbs will be able to sign. – (Brandon)
