Open Post | Wednesday, November 9th

I know there will be a desire to have political discussions today which is understandable. But please refrain from doing so. There are plenty of political forums. This isn’t one. All that matters here is whether the Sooners play defense, can recruit, make it to the playoffs, etc. šŸ˜‰

Jamire Calvin: As I noted on Monday, 2017 DE Hunter Echols (Los Angeles, CA) let us know that he will visit OU this weekend. Echols teammate, JamireĀ Calvin,Ā is a highly recruited 2017 wide receiver who the Sooners have been in touch with. He does not currently hold an Oklahoma offer butĀ he believes thatĀ could happen soon.Ā Calvin tells me that he may too be in Norman this upcoming weekend. I’ll continue to check with him to see if that materializes. – (Super K)

Brennan Eagles: Last night the Sooners extended an offer to 2018 WR, Brennan Eagles (Houston, TX). Eagles is a talented receivers that the Sooners have been watching since last spring when they stopped by to see him.

Eagles tells me that he plans on visiting the Sooners after playoffs are over which are set to begin this weekend.

Team Note | StoopsĀ Involvement: Spoke to a source earlier this week who told me, “this is the most intensely involved I’ve ever seen him (coach Bob Stoops)”. Source added, “he’s managing everything…everything…special teams, defense. He letsĀ his coaches coach butĀ he sits there and watches andĀ if he doesn’t agree with somethingĀ he justĀ comes right out with it.Ā He’s questioning them in a way I haven’t, personally, really seen”.

Source and I spoke for quite a while and it sounds like Stoops who is always involved but is typically the kind of head coach who is a bit hands off, is really intensely involved in every aspect of the coaching and game planning. I was told there is a sense that the team and the staff feel like these last three games are like a season unto themselves. I certainly agree with that sentiment. If Stoops loses any one of these last three games then it accentuates the two early losses and the perception of this season will be one of failure. If he wins out he will reach ten wins, continue recruiting momentum and get a bid in a big bowl game with a chance, albeit very small, at a playoff spot. – (Super K)
