– Tyrese Robinson: As you know Tyrese Robinson has been committed to the Sooners for some time now. Robinson is very highly ranked and is still hearing from a ton of schools trying to sway him. TFB spoke with a source close to Robinson who tells us that , though Robinson is solid to OU, there still might be two visits taken, to UCLA and Georgia. Those visits aren’t set in stone just yet, but the source did tell me that, “this isn’t a Reagor type of situation.” Basically, saying that Robinson will end up at Oklahoma no matter what because mom and family want him there, but they also want him to see a couple of places because he hasn’t traveled much and he has earned the right to enjoy the recruiting process.
Robinson has let Sooners offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh know about the possible visits. Oklahoma staff isn’t real thrilled, but they trust Robinson because he has been one of the leaders of SoonerSquad17.
The source said, “ Tyrese wants to be and will be at OU.” This really does feel like a situation where a recruit just wants to get out and see some things. I do not believe there is anything to be concerned about. – (Brandon)
– Chuck Filiaga: As you all know by now, the Sooners hosted 2017 OT, Chuck Filiaga (Aledo, TX) for the Kansas game. Filiaga was the only official visitor that weekend.
This was the second visit to Norman for Filiaga but the Sooners still managed to make an even bigger impression than he antcipated, “The official visit exceeded my expectations. I got to be with the OU players and see how they loved OU and why they chose OU.” Despite the fact that the Kansas game was over early it sounds like the game day atmosphere still managed to impress Filiaga, “The best thing about the visit was being in the game day atmosphere”.
In terms of what Filiaga is looking for in a program he said, “I’m looking for a great education, you know, they say you have to think of the forty year term not four year term so that’s definitely what I’m looking at. Yeah football (matters) as well to help me, God willing. prepare for the next level.”
Filiaga tells us that he will announce his decision on January 7th. It’s our sense that Michigan and the Sooners are somewhere near the top of his list at the moment. – (Super K)
– Kobe Boyce: I caught up with 2017 CB and Texas commit, Kobe Boyce (Lake Dallas, TX) last night. He tells me that he is trying to make it up to Norman this weekend for a visit.
Boyce has a high degree of interest in Oklahoma and since his official visit he has been hoping to make a return trip. – (Super K)
– Team Note | Joe Mixon: Not that it should come as any surprise but Joe Mixon was back at practice yesterday after having served a suspension in last week’s game. – (Super K)
