Chuck Filiaga: The Sooners hosted a single official visitor this past weekend. Chuck Filiaga made his way to Norman for the second time in the past year.

I plan to speak to Chuck later this week but for now here’s what we have heard from our sources close to Chuck and around the program:

Source 1: Source said the visit seemed to go well. Also noted that Filiaga has given the impression to the Sooner staff that after the visit Oklahoma leads.

Source 2: Source described the visit as “amazing”. Also noted, “I just don’t see him going too far from family”. That’s obviously a big statement given that it would seem to biggest contender in his recruitment right now is Michigan…a school that is obviously very far from his home in Texas.

Source 3: K spoke with a source close to the family who says they believe Michigan still leads…said Filiaga talks about Michigan quite a bit. However, the source also corroborated something source 2 mentioned which is that the challenge Michigan will face is the lack of proximity to home.

Filiaga plans on committing in early January so we are still a couple months away. The Sooners do have he advantage of being close enough to home that if Filiaga wanted to make a return trip, he could do that. Again, I’ll have more from Filiaga once I get him on the phone later this week. – (Brandon)

Ron Tatum: This past weekend the Sooners extended an offer to in-state defensive lineman, Ron Tatum, from Putnam City High School.

Tatum said about the offer, “I’ve been waiting for this my whole life”. He also noted that the game atmosphere was “outstanding” and he plans to return to Norman for the next home game.

Tatum doesn’t seem to be in a rush to make a decision but said, “I love the school…I’ve always been a fan”. It’s safe to say with the early offer and Tatum being a local athlete, the Sooners are going to have a great chance of landing a talented player at a position of need. – (Brandon)

Que Overton: Speaking of talented in-state defensive linemen, I spoke with a source regarding Que Overton and how things are coming along from his injury. Back in mid-September Overton underwent surgery on his left ankle. I was told that the plan is for Overton to be back and ready to go for spring practice. – (Brandon)
