– Greg Rogers: The Sooners are pushing hard for the Las Vegas, Nevada defensive lineman, Greg Rogers. If you’re on twitter you have seen the Oklahoma fans and coaches showing him plenty of love. He has definitely taken notice…

Now, all of that may not play a big part in his recruitment, but it does help, as does the push from SoonerSquad17. They have been actively recruiting Rogers and Marvin Wilson. One current OU commit told me that he feels like Oklahoma is, “in really good with Rogers”. That same recruit talks to Rogers quite often and said that the feeling they have is that Rogers is leaning towards Oklahoma and feels that if Rogers was to choose today his choice would be the Sooners. K has already mentioned that the Sooner staff feels good about where they stand with Rogers.
TFB isn’t quite sure on the timeline of Rogers announcement.
All of the above being what it is, there is nothing set in stone and Rogers still has UCLA and USC visits on November 19th and 26th. So, until those visits are done there reigning thought is that we won’t know Rogers decision until sometime after those trips. TFB will continue to watch Rogers recruitment, but if Oklahoma can continue to win and keep the recruiting momentum going there is no reason to think that the Sooners won’t be part of Rogers final decision. Whenever that decision is made. – (Brandon)
– Chevin Calloway: Earlier this week we noted that per his coach, 2017 CB Chevin Calloway (Dallas, TX) “may” visit Oklahoma this weekend. I caught up with Calloway’s coach again yesterday and Calloway won’t be able to make it this weekend. His coach said, “we have homecoming dance this weekend so that is the reason he can’t make the game”.
His head coach noted however that Calloway plans to reschedule a trip to OU but isn’t sure what weekend. – (Super K)
– Latavious Brini: Earlier this week the Sooners offered Miami area 2017 DB, Latavious Brini (Hialeah Gardens, FL). Brini let it be known via twitter that he will take an official visit to Oklahoma…
First Official Visit Nov. 12 In OU Vs. Baylor
— Latavious “The Vulture” Brini (@Brinilatavious) October 14, 2016
In speaking to someone close to Brini it sounds like the Sooners will need to make quite the impression to beat out Miami. Brini tells me he is friends with former Sooner commit, Trajan Bandy, who, I suspect, will be working to keep Brini in Miami.
– NEW OK Preps Prospect | Joe Combs: The Sooners have a Florida prospect in-state. 2017 CB, Joe Combs who is currently at Muskogee High School (where star safety, Kam Curl plays) is a recent move in from north Florida.
Combs is a 6’1 cornerback who has put together some fantastic plays in only the first month and half of his senior season. Take a look…
– Lamonte McDougle: Sooners coaching staff in known for tweeting out the hashtag “#OUDNA”. With 2017 Deerfield, Florida defensive tackle Lamonte McDougle, the OU DNA is real. McDougle is the son of former Sooners All Big 12 lineman Stockar McDougle. He is also the cousin of former superstar defensive tackle, Tommie Harris. All that said, it sound come as no surprise that McDougle told m an offer from Oklahoma, “definitely would be a dream come true”.
The talented 2017 DT currently holds offers from Tennessee, North Carolina, Stanford, West Virginia, Arkansas and Syracuse to name a few. TFB caught up with McDougle to see where Oklahoma stood and if there was significant conversation happening between the two. McDougle told me that Oklahoma defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux and him speak every other day, as of late. Surprisingly, McDougle was a relative unknown to Oklahoma until newly committed, and resident Floridian, K’Jakrye Daley showed the staff his film. Since then Oklahoma has been recruiting McDougle.
With the Sooners pushing McDougle harder, he and his father are working to set up a visit that should happen after his season is over. TFB asked McDougle what he thought would happen if OU was to offer him at some point. He response is something I am sure Sooners fans will love, “OU is in my blood. I would definitely take advantage of that offer.” This is something to keep an eye on in the coming months and TFB will definitely keep you all informed. – (Brandon)
Quick Thoughts: Lamonte McDougle isn’t the tallest guy at 6’1/6’2, but he weighs a legit 295 lbs and moves like he weighs 240lbs showing great fluidity when he runs and good change of direction. He is well coached in how to use leverage and play the defensive line position. Oklahoma is obviously going to want to see him in person but on film McDougle looks like the kind of athletic defensive linemen that would fit well in the spread happy Big 12. – (Brandon)
