* A win is a win, right?

That’s what everyone told me last week after the TCU game, so considering who was standing on the opposite sideline yesterday I have to believe the same applies to this one.

And I’d have to be an even more miserable OU fan than I know some of you are convinced that I am to come on here and bitch about Lincoln Riley’s offense putting up 672 yards, Samaje Perine & Dede Westbrook both eclipsing 200 yards & Baker Mayfield throwing for nearly 400.

Other than the WRs not named Westbrook being pretty underwhelming, I have no issue with the OU offense.

* I went in on Mike Stoops last week and made my feelings pretty clear I think, so no real point to doubling down after this one.

I do have just two points I would like to make, however.

(1) When you see Jordan Thomas have the first half he did, then come out and get burnt twice, despite being in position, I’m sorry but that’s not on Mike Stoops.

(2) For the life of me I’ll never understand why the Stoops bros love to go into their patented prevent defense no matter how small the 4th quarter lead, only to watch the opposing offense shred through them like wet toilet paper moving at will up-and-down the field.

It literally never works and yet they can’t possible retreat into it as soon as humanly possible. It’s the definition of insanity.

* I mean at this point is there really even a point to addressing the time out thing? It’s been a problem for years under Stoops and it obviously isn’t changing anytime soon.

It’s ridiculous. We know it. They know it (and would never admit it). It is what it is, as they say.

* Credit Baker Mayfield for stepping up in a “big” game for maybe the first time this season (unless you’re counting last week’s TCU game, which I don’t).

Thought he played incredibly well and neither of those two INTs were his fault. The first was on Mark Andrews — who really needs to get the drops thing figured out ASAFP — and the second was a result of maybe one of the worst non-calls in the history of college football.

All of that without mentioning him doing ‘Baker things’ in the second half, keeping plays alive with his legs and making a heck of a read on his one TD run.

* I know I said the WRs didn’t really do anything and I stand by it. But though he only had two catches in the game, I will acknowledge Geno Lewis’ two receptions were pretty big ones.

Same for Dimitri Flowers.

* Certainly don’t love that his opportunity came at the expense of Tay Evans’ career, but I’m a big-time fan of Emmanuel Beal. Undersized as he is, that kid just straight makes plays.

* Don’t really know what to think about Joe Mixon’s game. After having looked like the best player on this team through the first four games, he looked awful ordinary for the most part in this one. And I thought uncharacteristically terrible on returns, both kick & punt, specifically.

I’m quite sure he will be just fine moving forward, but his performance in this one just took me by surprise is all.

* I couldn’t help but appreciate the irony in this tweet.

There are SO many ‘careful what you wish for’ OU fans when it comes to daring to question Bob Stoops as HC. Yet here they were celebrating what I’d have to believe was the final nail in Charlie Strong’s coffin that could very well lead to Texas winning the Tom Herman sweepstakes.

So forgive me for being redundant, but careful what you wish for OU fans.
