We are one day away from the start of the college football season!
– Team Note | Offense: Was told the OU offense had an excellent day of practice on Tuesday. Apparently they were able to complete a number of passes down the field, winning the majority of their 3rd-and-longs against the first team defense.
– Team Note | Linebackers: After watching a little bit of film on Houston myself, I noted immediately that they use an H-back quite frequently. Which made me wonder if we will see more true OLBs on Saturday, or if OU will stay in their nickel package. Also, with the option game and the way Houston uses their back as a receiver out of the option, Jordan & Tay Evans are going to get a lot of work.
After watching that film, I had a chance to speak with a source regarding both the issues I referenced above. This person said Will Johnson is still getting the bulk of the work in practice, so based on that I would expect you see OU in nickel quite a bit.
However, I was also told that both Kapri Doucet and Caleb Kelly have been taking reps with the 1’s as well. One source said it seemed like Doucet is currently getting a few more reps than Kelly, so if they do go with a true SAM it may be Doucet that gets the nod to start out. Which shouldn’t necessarily be a surprise, asking a freshman to play that role against a team that options a lot with a ton of shifts and motions could simply be too much at this point. Kelly is exactly the athlete OU needs at that position, but I suspect the Sooners want to ease him into that role.
I was also told the defense is really working to make sure that both Evans LBs are ready for what they can expect to see on Saturday. Not only will they be needed to help stop the interior run game of Houston, but as previously mentioned the Cougars flare guys out of the backfield in the pass game a lot. Getting sideline-to-sideline or even picking up a wheel route are things the Oklahoma LBs will have to anticipate and be prepared to defend. – (Super K)
– Team Note | Offensive Line: Jonathan Alvarez was obviously listed as the starting center on the depth chart Oklahoma released earlier this week, but Bob Stoops was pretty open with the fact Alvarez’s backup, Erick Wren, would play on Saturday. As such, Wren has continued to receive a number of reps with the first team offense this week. And according to what TFB has been told, it has been another solid week of practice for Wren. – (Super K)

First! Boomer!!!
2nd SOONER!!!!!!!!!!!
Metz!! Football! ! !
Football ,Oscar!
What’s up, Metz?
Just going crazy waiting.Hows Sam?
Good. Still in San Antonio. Back home tonight.
I hate SA have safe travels Sam.
Will do.
Sooner! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Oh my lucky stars, a bright and early OP!
Can’t wait for this game – from the sounds of it, and the fact that the offense should be used to LR’s offense by now, I hope we can erase the slow starts we had last year. Saturday can’t come soon enough!
BOOMER SOONER!!!
I saw yesterday that Osa Masina – a former sooner recruit – is under investigation in 2 states. Looks like OU dodged a Bullet by losing out on that guy.
I’ve noticed those things tend to work out.
We’ve been burned on wheel routes a couple of times the last few years. Also, there were a couple of incidences where a WR ran a down-out-and-down, and our DB bit on the first cut. Then……………..oh crap.
Could not be more ready for this season to start.
Football,Ray!
It’s here!
Eleventh! BOOMER!!!
Since I’ve cut the cable, I haven’t seen much of eSPIN. I have to say it’s kind of nice not watching 30 minutes of crapola to see what they say about the Sooners and if and when it comes it is negative BS. Life is good.
Yup. Never watch it. They used to blatantly interfere with the BCS process, and now they blatantly promote the SEC. They’re the sports equivalent to Washington lobbyists.
Bazinga!
Absolutely correct sir!
Agree. I cut cable too because I want to stick-it to eSECpn and save some money. Although I have eSECpn through my SlingTV subscription. Last year, I quit watching College Gameday and my quality of life improved.
my sons, both in their 20s, used to come back home and espn was on all day. now they tell me they don’t even watch it. i can remember another friend of ours in his 20s who when we were at his parents’ house had it on all day like my kids. he was up from TX last week and said he never watches it anymore. that ought to tell you something when they are losing their 20s viewers.
Hello* Long time lurker, first time poster… I figured since the season is about to start, I’d post up. Can’t wait for 11am on Saturday!
Welcome from lurker hood.
My last name is Burger, so I support your campaign
As is mine. Your support is appreciated.
I “smell” a Burger/Burger ticket!
People would eat that up!
Don’t be cheesy!
Dang, a burger sounds really good

Welcome!
What took so long?
My work has blocked most of these sites. I used to regularly post on another college site (not the Mickey Mouse one). But now my boss wants to play fantasy football. So game on!
Welcome home.
————————
I sense a disturbance in the force.
What the deuce!?
This is the one site besides mickey mouse that has eluded the great firewall. I guess they figured they needed to balance out the karma.
My boss wants to play fantasy football, so they have opened it back up here anyway. Glad to see you’re allowed out to play now.
welcome out of the shadows!
Thanks. As a new poster on this site, I’ll just say…nice work. Love reading the info every day!
Welcome!
Thanks! Love the work y’all do!
Welcome amigo
Thank you sir. Figured this was a good time to start posting on here. haha
Should have started at NSD. It really helps the offseason go by
Most of these sites were blocked at work back then and posting from my phone just gives me a headache. Almost as much as some of those yahoos do from the other site…
Yeah i hear that. Folks here are nice even the naysayers except for when his royal highness finds a way back in
Don’t speak of HWMNBN. It’s like Beetlejuice – he’ll appear
Hes always lurking 😉
Another Burger Bro in the HOUSE> Hey pres.
How goes it?
Great. Stopped going to BCSnn as my work firewall says it is a bastion for viruses. Glad to see you here. Good times ahead this year.
Yeah, I stopped by there yesterday for the first time in months. Same ol same ol there. I think everyone got mad in about 15 seconds of me just posting up some facts. Hahaha.
Actually got a virus there last year. Raider rash is just that powerful
“Oh Johnny’s Charcoal Broiler, first time poster, may I say”.
I may have to go to Johnnies for lunch…. that sounds amazing
Welcome Burger, Great to have you!
I’d like to be the first Hogg to welcome you to TFB.
Boomer Sooner Baby!!!
Good morning, TFBers!!!
Howdy Sam
Morn Sam!
Nothing personal to Alvarez, but, as TFB guys have mentioned several times, I’d love to see Wren get the nod down the road. Seems like he’s worked hard for it and has the size to do it
As long as it works out, the strategy of having guys that can play center and guard and then guard and tackle is a pretty cool idea. If we can truly get starter depth at the positions, it will really help them generate some tempo on offense. Hopefully that is what they are doing and that it isn’t a case of “Well, this is all we’ve got…”.
Absolutely agree. JY has had some nice thoughts on how the size of guys we’re getting now is really assisting in being able to shift them to different positions when needed. Versatility is huge
It will really come in handy against these teams like Houston and several Big12 teams that have a solid first front 7, but no depth at those positions. Wear them down by cycling our o-line through and pounding them with all 4 running backs.
Yeah I truly believe we can create some great wear and tear on D’s this year by abusing them with our RB’s (see: Tennessee game last year). Game goes on, we keep throwing in RB’s. And having more OL to cycle through isn’t going to hurt
Depth chart had him and alvarez at identical size lo. 6’3 308
Anyone else having issues loading the “Daily” link?
I get into the OP fine, but other link takes me to a not found page.
Same for me!
Yeah I was on it earlier, but I tried to reload and it wouldn’t work. Closed the tab, opened TFB main page, clicked on it, and it says “page not found”. Very odd
Same issue here
Same here … waaazzzzzaaaaaa??
I just let Jordan know on twitter
Same here as there is something hinky with the link
Hinky with the linky.
Same here
Place holder until it’s complete I believe.
I did last night.
HEY FREE TFB, ….
It’s working again for me
I thought it was the disturbance in the force…or Metz.
Jonathan Vilma (if that’s your real name), Houston (you’re not playing Tulsa)…
Hey Sooner Nation! Long time lurker on the page but decided to come out of the shadows and express my genuine excitement for what I feel is going to be a VERY special year. Just wanted to say hello!!
** Also is anyone else having issues opening the 08/31/16 Daily News? It says “Not Found” when I go to open the link?
Welcome! Glad to have you.
Yeah, it’s having some sort of weird issue going on with it.
Welcome, OKC!
Welcome OKC!
Welcome Chiro! We need you to crack some backs around here when things get out of hand. 🙂
Yeah, the Daily News post is missing at the moment.
Hahaha! Hopefully no one gets too rowdy during the season opening win vs UH this weekend, and I have to end up making house calls next week!
Welcome OKC
It’s working again for me.
Welcome to the sunshine!
Welcome OKC, great to have you!
welcome!!
glad to have another!!
Welcome out of the shadows OKChiro87! Your eyes will stop hurting so much after they adjust to the light. lol
Boomer Sooner!!!
Have to remember sunscreen too now! Lol
I know OUr offense is stacked, but it is a little concerning to see the defense struggle in 3rd and long situations in practice. That being said, I have full confidence OU’s offense is better than UH’s. Can’t wait till Saturday!
The good news – the defense put them in 3rd and longs.
The better news – Houston doesn’t have Mayfield to get them out of those situations
Yes Sir!
Part of that could be that they see the same guys every day in practice. I’m confident in our offense, but I’m also confident in the secondary and DL. LBs will probably have some growing pains, but there is a lot of potential there.
I’m real excited to see the linebackers. Hopefully they are ready to crack some skulls!! (not literally, that would be horrible).
I’m definitely excited to see what they bring. There is so much potential there. But man will they be tested right away. In my opinion, our LB play is what will decide this game more than any other position group. If they contain Ward, game over. If not…our offense better be firing on all cylinders.
That’s always the case. You always wonder if it’s good play by the offense or bad play by the defense. I’m usually the optimist.
Can I just sleep till then?
BOOMER SOONER # just win
Super K, curious your thoughts on the D-Line. I’m of the thought the quality just isn’t there to be a title contender this season. Outside of perhaps Walker, I really don’t see any difference makers in the two-deep. Romar, Wade, Dimon, Ward etc., while get the most out of what they have, still lack 3-4 size/playmaking ability, limiting what we can do on D. Am I off base here? When some of these national guys don’t seem as high on us, I think it’s the lack of punch along the D-line that they see as cause for concern.
I see Walker as dominating and a mature Gallimore as having domination potential. The trick is making Gallimore mature post haste.
Did you see what Overton was doing as a true Fr?
Yes in fact I thought that by now he’d have overtaken Romar and Wade. But ONCE AGAIN I was wrong.
Yes i recall the first time i had seen his hudl,o boy!
K, on the 3rd and longs do you know if it was one or two guys or did Mayfield distribute the ball to multiple guys? I hope to see it as OU has 6 guys they can count on to get open not 2.(oh and catch the football too)
Let’s keep this going
https://twitter.com/SoonerStats/status/770993322487939073
Hopefully that tidbit won’t be in jeopardy.
If we keep that streak going, I feel really good about our chances on Saturday.
Jeff Hostetler was their qb and came in on a rainy day and killed us. Still have this nightmare.
I don’t really care how many points UH scores(yes I do), as long as OU scores more by the end of the game(hopefully they will).
Not to be a negative nellie but since 1982 about 90% of our opening game opponents have been sisters of the poor. Houstons offense is legit. If we can keep them under 30 then our defense will have done a great job.
I’m going to say that we keep them to 24.
However, any given Saturday and it is the 1st game and 1st games can sometimes be weird. I don’t expect it b/c of how many returning starters we have on both sides of the ball.
OU 45>
UH 24<
is my prediction.
It appears that a lot of our fans are worried what Houston’s QB will do to our defense. I don’t see much thought being given to what our offensive team of play makers will do their defense.
Today, folks are worried about our LBs. I’m not expert, but I’ve always heard that the game begins in the trenches. If our Dline creates disruption to their offense, I think our backers will feed. If our Oline blocks well, our play makers will feed. I trust OUr coaches and we have some very good ones right now. I’m going to enjoy this start of the season.
My concern with the LBs is their reads and keeping Ward contained. Physically they are capable of dominating this game. Ward can burn us with his legs. But with our secondary, he won’t hurt us much with his arm. So if they can keep him in the pocket that our d-line will hopefully be collapsing, it is going to be a really fun start to the season. I think our offense is going to hammer them.
I believe it will be a good game, and I believe OU will win. I’m worried that we won’t win in dominating fashion, which is what I want, because I am a reasonable person, and it is reasonable to want to dominate everyone always.
Agreed
Nothing wrong living the way you were raised…dominate everyone!
Spoken like a true Sooner fan. lol
Our only 1st team DT has a concussion….
Then, my guess is that someone will have to step up. We’re not playing Bama or tOSU this weekend. Good team? Yeah. But I don’t think they can hang with OU on either side of the ball. We have a really good team with great coaches.
He is cleared
It was reported that he has been back practicing this week and should play on Saturday.
Jonathan Vilma on ES-SPIN: “You look at Greg Ward compared to Baker Mayfield, to me it’s not even
close. Greg Ward is a better quarterback. He’s more athletic. He’s more
accurate. He doesn’t push the issue.”
http://im2.ezgif.com/tmp/ezgif-2845110178.gif
I bet Baker would look pretty good against most of the teams that Ward faced last year. Don’t get me wrong, Ward is good. But to say it isn’t even close either shows his ignorance or he is trying to generate some views for them. (most likely both).
No doubt about that. I’m with you—most likely both.
They have a style-void to fill after Skip left. I expect to see a lot of commentary from them like this.
No kidding. Blatant ignorance doesn’t strike me as an appealing ‘style’ but that’s ES-Spin for ya.
Speed wise, isn’t Doucette supposed to be a good sideline to sideline guy?
I believe you are correct, sir.
every time i see his name, Beach boys, “Little Deuce coupe” starts playing in my head.
Ear worm!!! 🙂
…
It’s the right color too! I want one!!!
Ear worm reminds me of night gallery!
Or was it twilight zone?
Zone, Earwig….
Yes that was probably one of the best
Metz where you been? You haven’t been letting the fun Nazis from Sunday get you down I hope!
Naw im good ty!
Glad to hear it brother!
Anybody else think that Houston will try some trickeration early on in the game to try and obtain momentum to set tone for game? I think they do know they are true underdogs and will attempt things that true underdogs do. You?
Probably. But I wouldn’t be shocked to see Riley call a play along the lines of the first one against ISU just to set their front 7 on their heals. It is going to be fun watching Riley’s creativity this year.
if they jump out early, yes. I expect them to play to use our speed against us.
Mcquiston destroyed my timeline last night with all that baseball talk.
https://m.popkey.co/5f0e26/Djqzx.gif
I feel you. Took forever to scroll through all of it. I love baseball but, its football time man.
https://twitter.com/bobstoopsarmy/status/770999184480571393
lol Metz you finally wake up from that two day hangover??
HAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok KJ Walk me back from the ledge Ward is concerning me .
He concerns me too…ESPECIALLY against our new LBs.
That didn’t help with my anxiety!
Im having flashbacks to the Texsa game, I hope KM has been running the option alot this week.
Yep he should get them ready id hope.texsa tackling grrrrrrrr
trick is to keep him in the pocket and force the throw. We have to be in mid season form, from a disciplined stand point. Oh and knock the snott out of him every chance we can.
I think i read he is 180 so yea lay the wood every chance!!!!!!
And idk maybe because they don’t run the option as much anymore, but I remember stopping it just being a matter of “You go the qb you got the rb you hit him on every play no matter what”.
key being.. hit him every play
Eric Striker released by Bills. Duron Neal and Frank Shannon released by Broncos
I will be watching our WRs closely in this game.
You couldn’t ask for a better matchup.
We should easily have 250+ in the air with 1/2 guys 100yds+
If not, they struggle to separate… something is wrong.
Andrews should have a huge game. Westbrook and, to a lesser extent, Baxter have proven their ability to make plays as well. Those guys should be able to do a lot of damage as Houston will probably load up to stop the run (hey, if they don’t, I’m cool with that!). I think that will help the new guys settle down and make some plays. We’ve also got a solid set of backs that can catch passes.
I’d like to see no one receiver break 80 yards, but still have 300+ through the air. I like options.
Just catch de ball.
Terrific starting place
Our WR’s have #OUDNA, they sure as hell better exploit Houston’s defense!
It is FOOTBALL,Jake!
FOOTBALL, WHERE’S DOC?!
He is busy running 2 jobs!
What a bum…
AmIRite?
Exactly!!!!!!!I dont know who raised him
IF UH does what we expect them to do.
Aggressively attack the LOS with their front 7..
Our receivers/OC find the hole and burn them.
I wanna see Samaje run one of their all world defenders (per the media) over.
Yeah me too.
Perine/Mixon should be on the field together half the game.
After establishing we can throw it on you after UH sells out stopping the run.. put them on their heels. Stay balanced..We are going to road grate you over and over. Plant the seed of doubt in their minds. Let it grow into a good victory.
I wanna see ‘Healthy Samaje’.
The dude has been apparently hobbling over defenders for the last 2 years on a chronically injured ankle (& setting all-time single game rushing record).
Can’t wait to see him ‘RUN’
http://static.tumblr.com/uqu0aae/e4ymf6vfs/hul.gif
Dawg!!!!!
I think that our RBS (especially Mixon) might total over 100 yds in this game as well.
This is awesome a great OP. So excited to watch some LB play. Not going to lie, I am a bit nervous. Talent is there, the young players just need some time to get their feet wet.
I was a lot more concerned about UH until I read this qoute from the article ref. in TFB news today . http://thedailycougar.com/2016/08/31/major-keys-can-cougars-beat-sooners/
‘Most of the players in the secondary will be making their first collegiate starts against the Sooners.’
the only thing tougher to do on day one of a season ( probably a lot tougher but still ,, )
would be to break in most of a new offensive line .
Feeling a Lot more confident now , thanks JE
I believe The Coogs are starting 4 new offensive linemen as well
Really? That’s music to me if its true.
Charles Walker:
http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/feed-me.gif
brilliant !
Thank you kindly!
Oklahoma Football is near— I’m on the brink of turning into the irrational fan that gets nothing done until after Saturday’s win!
I wish they were starting a new QB as well.
Expansion rumors….http://sports.yahoo.com/news/report-big-12-narrows-expansion-list-to-6-to-8-schools-141118723.html
Still think it stays at 10
I’m with you. I think the conference squeezes more money from the networks and stays pat. In fact, they may just stay pat anyway, as there is no way Houston gets 8 votes.
I sincerely hope that OBO is so violently disruptive on the football field
that Tom Herman (in a fit of pure terror & utter shock) accidentally
calls the police instead of a timeout to save his offense.
https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/771005129474514945
They just gotta play disciplined. Dont get too overzealous and play out of their lanes.
And Obo is guilty of that quite a bit
Not this Saturday!
He will be the second coming of Lawrence Taylor, minus the whole crack cocaine addiction this year
Can he hit Joe T?
Joe T is busy selling joint relief pills
Thats funny!
Nvm it was Super Beta Prostate

HEY HEY
http://img.pandawhale.com/104594-thats-a-lovely-accent-you-have-KHma.gif
Well throw another shrimp on the barbie!
HA, oh man. Good stuff.
They’re gonna have to throw Greg in the Psych-‘WARD’ after OBO traumatizes his team.
Nice well done
LT was probably the best LB ever…Nice thought though.
Yeah thats why I went there. He dominated!
or best pass rushing LB…Derrick Thomas second…Ray Lewis no 1 MLB.
and underage prostitutes smh
Is or was?
*was
I’m with ya. ALLS I’m saying is, play within your lanes but also ‘out of your mind’.
Gap integrity. Do your job.
I remember for a month they had Frank Alexander working on the Tebow inside option to the murderer tight end…A Month! And then on a big 3rd down Frank gets out of position trying to stop Tebow! There is just so much a coach can do. If these guys can’t limit their scoring we won’t deserve to win.
have yall seen the Facebook video of the woman who called a radio station about deer crossing signs?
Yeah whats worse is shes probably a registered voter
im not real savvy on the uploading of videos but someone else could that would give everyone on this site a big laugh today!!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CiZB0DvOd7Y
Aggie women
So college station has alot of deer signs on the road?
No, just aggie crossing signs to warn the deer.
This cannot be real… Can it?
I was crying after that video…she is convinced of her point. LOL
I hope not but given Americas political future, it probably is
Yes, it is real and it is awesome!
It’s pretty old shtick. Kinda like “They say 90% of accidents happen within 5 miles of home. So I moved.”
The SLOW CHILDREN AT PLAY signs must really throw her off.
Oh, my, Lord!
Yeah that video has been around a while, but it cracks me up every single time. The sincerity in her voice and honest concern is alarming.
When I rise to power, people like her will be sterilized so that they can’t reproduce their ignorance into the world.
I actually find it very painful to listen to people who sincerely and unknowingly make a total fool of themselves. Same thing if I see someone with an open fly, or a booger, or whatever, and they have no clue. I was wincing listening to that! But I give the radio guy and gal credit, in that they tried to gently direct the caller to her folly, rather than just rip her to shreds.
top notch courtesy for sure from the DJ’s…
They try very hard. They are stifling laughter they whole time. If it had been me, I may have just wept for the future of America
Well, they are only human 🙂
she HAS TO BE a shorthorn fan!
Will packs a punch for a little guy (see photo up top)…I was high on him the spring before last. He covered Andrews like a silk blanket. I couldn’t believe he wasn’t starting early in the season. I can’t wait to see this D play. I haven’t been this excited about D since I think 09 when McCoy was still here
I’m optimistic that this season is going to be special! cant wait to get to Norman and see the boys in person for Kstate! My father and sister are going to the Ohio State game and I’ve gotta work…cant fly from Georgia to see that one with them
With the price of tickets for that game your prob better off financially..but it will be an atmosphere you’d never forget…Curious how loud that place can actually be now
cant wait to start in the new stadium and keep it undefeated as well as surrounded!! looking forward to the videos from my sister…was bummed I couldn’t go, but Its a better view from my recliner and 55 in TV. I get to preach at church that Sunday so I’m excited to be able to do that.
Good luck with that
My favorite thing about Will is that he fights like a dog to blow up a screen and tackle the receiver for a loss. Haven’t seen that from a DB consistently since I don’t know when.
Tjeff was pretty good a few years back…Julian wasn’t bad at nickel (the move to corner killed his stock)..that said, Im really high on Will. He the better cover nickel of those three by far. He should play like a veteran this year. Just imagine, we get him for another year too.
Curious to how much well see Caleb on Sat. Nothing like a little on the job training to get you ready for your career.
Hopefully we see a lot of him in the second half!
10-15 snaps is what I expect
not convinced the score will ever be “comfortable” enough to allow him in for too many snaps
Are you really thinking this will be a game?
has a chance to be
Certainly there is a chance. Houston has legit talent. Plus, it is so early in the year, really hard to rule out the possibility this will be a tight game.
There is always a chance, but I am expecting a blowout.
me too. when someone showed me how uh was +21 in TOs last year, that usually cannot be duplicated 2 yrs in a row, w/fsu committing 5. If we win that battle, we win by 21 at least imo.
I do, but I also think we are more than up for the challenge. I think our players are approaching it like it will be a game too.
I am expecting a typical OU vs TacoTech score. (post Leech) They have one offensive star and nobody on D.
him and Doucet. sounds like doucet is a good one too. like the sound of it (depth).
I know he’s not like a fan favorite, but I think Matt Dimon will be the most important DL this week.
For sure. He’s above average against the read option and he’s pretty quick as well.
Right, he’s the smartest out of the DL and he out of everyone will play pretty disciplined.
Matt is that you?
Coach?
Go clean your locker!
Im glad to see him up to 275 (if thats right). He’s pretty consistent
Yeah i can see that, this is his kind of game. Discipline and guts
I’m a fan of Dimon.
He’s not physically imposing
Every game he’s made plays.
He’s coachable..
Yeah he’s kind of that non-flashy player that has to rely on being a student of the game. As Dave said this would be his type of game as opposed to lets say tOSU game where we will need some physically dominant play.
While we will need to have a strong physical showing against tOSU, because of the youth of the Buckeyes, OUr guys with experience might be some of the difference makers in that game.
Absolutely, I know well talk about it alot that week, but McMillan would give me fits if I was BB.
Yes, completely agree.
Would Dimon hold up against the likes of tOSU, Bama, or clemson?
Not as a starter.. But he most def can give you quality depth because he inst going to mental bust.
I suspect he will be the starter against tOSU, so let’s hope he holds up.
I expect to see a lot of Austin Roberts against Ohio State.
I think roberts has good pro potential and he can’t even break into the starting position.
What has impressed me with Dimon is that as great a player as Walker is, he still couldn’t wrestle the starting position away from Dimon. Am I mistaken on that? Isn’t that true, that he started over walker all year last year? Walker’s a man-child, so I have great respect for Dimon for sure.
Interesting. Why do you think so?
I sort of mentioned it below but the kid is smart, disciplined, obviously a fiery competitor (Baylor) and he never really over plays a play (if that makes any sense). That’s also why he’s not always in highlights and what not, he’s pretty vanilla but dependable. It’s the first game of the season guys are going to be out to prove that they’re play makers and can handle a big game, we need a couple of heady/steady guys to balance that out so we don’t give up big plays consistently.
He is this years Sanchez. LOTS of haters. Funny thing is its for the complete opposite reason. Guess there is always someone the base needs to pick on.
Never understood the Sanchez or Landry hate among Sooners. Funny thing about Sanchez, as soon as he left, everyone was saying that he should have stayed. Ha! People are funny creatures.
Sanchez will have a long career in the NFL. He plays with his instincts more than anything. He is the type player you have to live with his mistakes.
But his good/great plays far outweigh his mistakes. I really liked him.
All I know is I felt more comfortable when he was in than when he was out. Had a way of coming up with the big play when we needed it too.
Funny how different fans see the hints totally different. I was wishing D.A. could keep the job when Sanchez got healthy. But, first bad game for Austin and I’ll be wondering when they are going to replace him with a bigger guy.
There’s always someone who is the piñata.
The guy that would have certainly passed DKR as the all-time OU int leader and the guy who is the all-time OU wins leader.
I hate to say it but OU fans really are some of the most spoiled fans on the planet. Man, we were all humble and appreciative after Boo Blake, but it took about 4 years for us to become arrogant, entitled know-it-alls.
sorry, it was that way with fans during Switzer years. It just hibernated for a decade.
Yes. Of course. That’s right.
We didn’t learn anything from “the lost decade”. It took us just a few years to become total boobs again.
I have never forgotten the 90s; never will.
I’m with you. It was hard to watch. I had never thought it possible that OU football could fall that far.
Uh, Bama fans are deservedly spoiled, while LSU fans are spoiled for no apparent reason whatsoever.
I think it’s a vocal minority.
That is an interesting take. Will keep an eye out for his play on Saturday. Agree we need smart play and cannot afford to let Ward Jr. have all day to throw or to overrun the play.
Always worry a bit about Dimon’s ability to cause havoc against more physical teams, but I do not know that should be a concern on Saturday.
Definitely not the next coming of Mccoy, but I think what he does sets up the others up front to make those highlight plays.
That’s really interesting, KJ. Thanks for your thoughts on this.
However, I’m hoping that the players have been watching and learning the past two years. We need an aggressive team that plays with discipline.
He reminds me of Kory Klein in that regard. I still think KK was the better player but both were/are underrated players on the DL.
I actually approved that DQ, Totally worth it for the Middle finger thing
Can’t remember who said it exactly. But read in the last few days that Dimon does the “dirty work.”
Interesting.
all sooners are my favorite, cept Kish, but that is slowly changing.
Kish reminds me of Fish on Barney Miller
Ha! Abe Vigota.
What a great show.
He’s definitely a very consistent player, who is assignment sound, but he seems to be blown off the line of scrimmage a lot against tougher opponents. Hopefully the weight he gained in the offseason helps some with this
He has said he is up to 290 lbs. now. He played the Clemson game down around 250 lbs. due to a string of illness late in the season last year. The added weight should help a ton.
That is a good development. Was thinking he either has to put on a few good pounds or we need to starting sending him out there with weights and dynamite in his pockets.
He’s definitely one of my favorite players on the team. I hope he has a great year.
My only reservation about Dimon is he seems too light in the seat. But if he’s 290-300, I think he could have all the tools.
After watching the 1st half of the Peach Bowl, I think Florida St shot themselves in the foot way too many times to be competitive- not too sure they were even fired up for that game.
Too many critical moments where momentum swung the wrong direction for the ‘Noles… Houston had some impressive moments but combining the luck of a trick play here and there with Florida St not being fired up and having untimely miscues, I like our chances, a lot.
Cougars Depth Chart
http://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/houston/90659
81 and 41 are their best players on D….they’re going to be a handful on the edges, they contain very well.
they do have some talent and appear to love playing for their coach
Yep. They are really high on Herman.
Last injury report had the starting center and backup out on Concussion protocol. Starting WO is also out for the game.
Choose one….Anthony Hines or Jacob Phillips to pair with Levi Draper for SS17?
Anthony Phillips 🙂
I am going with Jacob Hines.
He’s pretty good too.
Nitpicking with guys this talented, but I’ll go with the guy who has 90 offers (Hines)
I been on the Anthony Hines Band Wagon for a long time so he is my choice!
If its a push talent wise then I take Hines..we should own ntexas and plus it keeps him from going to texsa. We wouldn’t see much of Phillips otherwise
Agreed. Hines is a bit of a pick 6 since we would gain his services and keep him away from UT.
Hines
Gotta say Hines, but don’t get me wrong. I really like Phillips too.
I’d have to say Phillips
Um, Hines plays 6A in Texas……I think they face pretty darn good comp there, probably several notches above Nashville.
I prefer Hunt’s over Heinz.
Whataburger Spicy Fancy!
Taco Tuesdays!
Taco Bowls?
Mmmm…good stuff right there.
They sell it by the bottle at Reasor’s. I love Reasor’s too.
Think I’ll pick some up at Owasso Reasor’s then.
I really don’t know why you wouldn’t 🙂
That’s what I’m talking about lol
Can’t beat it
Tough. I really, really like both of them, but Hines looks to be faster with better coverage skills. Phillips seems to be a bit more disruptive at the point of contact, but on balance I think Hines is the call if for no other reason than fit for our conference (and maybe a better fit with Draper’s skills too).
BOZ!
I’ll go with whoever commits first.
Lots of chatter on the 247 boards about Hines not being so high on OU anymore and ut picking up steam in his recruitment. Would sure like to hear from TFB about the status of Hines recruitment. I apologize if they have already addressed this and I missed it.
Today is my 33rd birthday. I blew out my candles and wished for Baker to make Johnathan Vilma to eat his words on Saturday. Boomer Sooner.

What’s the rumbling about on ouinsider about coach B being sick? Sorry if this was addressed and I missed it.
Only thing I’ve read is dehydration. I hope that is all.
My friend that is on the o-line began telling me about it but the teacher was going over the syllabus but he did say coach B has been having health issues so I’m no insider but that leads me to believe it is something bigger
Hopefully his docs can get him feeling better. Prayers to him and family.
I’m not sure where I heard it (I think it was the Sooner Sports Radio app) but did anyone else hear B. Przybylo talk about how:
“…you can bet Coach Herman is going to constantly attack the side of the defense that Obo is on with their Power Option because he (Obo) struggles with reading & diagnosing it well”?
Is this true? Thanks ahead of time for the replies & BOOMER SOONER!
I would agree Obo struggles facing the option more specifically the read option
Didnt see or hear this. But in past games Obo has shown he crashes down hard on the RZ option plays.. Even gave up a long TD last year cant remember who is was vs.
Yea I just heard it again, it was on the Sooner Sports Radio app when he was going through the starters on the “depth chart release” podcast
Against West Virginia. Let Chubs (Howard) scamper for about a 50 yd td
That was the one !!!!
That’s the thing about repetition: it has a tendency to make you better.
Amen brother
Obo has had spring and summer first team reps.
He should know the concepts of the option.
Not being rude but I stopped reading when you referenced Bob Przybylo. Stick to the TFB and you’ll know what you need to know.
Bazinga!
I only read this guy…

KJ Bringing the A game today!
LOL…btw you haven’t tweeted anything in a few days. My timeline is looking a little bare.
Where you at on the Tweeter?!
Good luck with that Jake, although he may tell you!
Right!!!!!!!!!
I thought he wore glasses?
Obo has a lot of film where he bites on the read option. I’d expect them to attack him. Hopefully, he’ll be more disciplined Saturday.
I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that it was discussed by one of TFB guys in their write-up.
I found this from the other day. Jordan, wrote about it. Bob, probably took Esco’s idea and ran with it…typical. * Assuming Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is indeed the starter at the ‘Jack’, based
on what little film they have of him I’d expect Houston to attack Obo’s
side of the field early and often with their zone-read action. It’s a
staple of their offense and something we all know/remember Obo having
issues defending in the past.
Curious to see how much tic DeBerry will get. Have really looked forward to seeing what he can do.
Did someone say that he is losing weight to gain some speed? I think I read that he’s not as quick as others.
I may be dreaming but my memory was mcguiness was the LB that had lost the weight to get better speed
And he probably wont see the field
I don’t remember implying he would.
I believe you are correct. Down in the 230’s from what i remember.

Thx Bear!!!
Done
Thanks.
Thanks man!
Been rewatching last season’s games: I had mercifully forgotten how many penalties we had those first several games. Hands to the face, false starts, holding. We had 3 15 yarders in one drive alone against WVU. Glad we limited those after the texsa game, but hope we don’t have that learning curve this year
…
80 for 800 yds was the season total right?
Whatever it was, it was too darn much
Little nervous that Bob says two different centers are going to be playing. That’s a position I’d prefer to have locked down before the first game.
Last year they had talked about wanting to have 7 or 8 linemen that they could start and rotate through the games, and start any combination of. Same with WRs, Riley wanted 8 or so starter level guys. All of it was talked about last year as a goal to help them keep tempo. It sounds like they are working towards that. Guards and centers being able to play both positions, and then some tackles and guards being able to swap out.
Fine. I’m just not a fan of playing musical chairs with the center in such a big game.
Can see your point. Think these guys have enough 1st team reps with the different combos at G and C that they are working pretty well together and with Bake. That amps up in games so getting the game experience across the board pays off.
I don’t disagree. I just don’t think I’d be doing that in this game. Linemen need to be on the same page with the person making the calls. There’s a rhythm that needs to be there.

So, anyone know how much that PPV will cost for the ULM game by chance?
As always i will just pay
I hate it, but I will too.
yup. My birthday is the 10th, so the wife always lets me buy the ppv and calls it my present. She gets an easy gift, and i refuse to miss a game. Win win =)
Awesome
Free at your local B-Dubs 🙂
IIRC its 40.
Nope. *60*. At least for SSTV.
http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=211130194&DB_OEM_ID=31000
Ive never bought it online, always on satellite. it better not be 60 for the satellite version lol.
Oh, well that, I don’t know. I think it’s usually less. But I don’t have any TV service, so it’s whatever I can get on the internet.
All part of the price of my season tickets
Cox in OKC is $40
Apparently, Mizzou Coach doesn’t understand the law:
https://twitter.com/matthewcstevens/status/771019493908815873
Wow that school has some MAJOR issues.
I saw that on my TL. I started to reply to it with a similar comment you made, but decided against it.
its legal to smoke weed in washington, but that dosent stop your job from firing you due to failing a drug test for weed.
Same principle here.
The word legally isnt used right, but the coach can implement team rules as he sees fit.
True, just like with the NFL…weed is legal in some states, but you’ll get fined and dumped by your employer if you test positive.
Not if it is medicinal 😉
Guy in Colorado was fired for medicinal use. Had a legit scrip and everything. Very grey area as of yet.
Horrible company if true and had no effect on his job skills. Obviously there may be other factors involved as well.
As I recall, it was a package delivery company and he was a software engineer. Perfect set of facts for a court to extend protection to the individual’s privacy; except they didn’t. The company was apparently concerned that they might lose the right to test and dismiss due to the number of drivers they employed and were bound to defend their rights.
One scenario: if I’m a married student athlete living in married student housing or other such place and I have a family, I’m going to be a gun owner, period.
And if coach catches you, if the board supports his rules, you could get thrown off the team.
protecting my family trumps that IMO, so be it- I’d transfer
Thats certainly understandable.
Though, you couldnt have a gun on campus regardless(referencing your student housing comment), thats the same for ANY school.
ok, granted- a technicality… let’s say “off-campus” then
I agree with your point, but i see what the coach is going for here too. There were a lot of gun arrests in the SEC this offseason, he wants his kids to be smart.
It says legally. You don’t get arrested for legally owning a gun.
see my original comment. I sad they didnt use the word legally correctly. I agree he cant stop them legally.
You mentioned gun arrests, so I assumed that you meant the SEC players didn’t own them legally.
Think its a bit of both. There were a LOT of arrests for them, cant remember them all lol.
Several i remember were stolen, one at least was brandishing, so I think most were not gun as much as circumstances in which gun was possessed or used.
IMO, this is out of his realm of “control”, not a decision he should be making- I’d opt for “educating” my athletes and hope for the best.
This statement is true in some, but not all states. Texsa for example and Oklahoma is looking at it.
Interesting, thought it was nationwide. Apparently 8 states now allow. Thanks for the info.
I’m quite certain Oklahoma will soon be.
Who wants to play for Mizzou anyway?
Alex Ross.
That is your right as a free American. Nobody should be forced to be Un-American. I am offended by anyone trying to make choices for me
Hard to believe a coach would take away a players right to defend himself. That is Un-American.
And the university would have the right to evict you.
Not sure your right to carry survives a voluntary association. No one forces a person to join the football team, therefore…
In the same way religious congregations can have clearly unconstitutional rules for membership.
You are probably right about the voluntary association. I think that is why the states are passing laws ensuring the rights of people to protect themselves without fear of unconstitutional legislation against them. There is no association of Church membership requirements and a person’s right to protect themselves.
No, but churches, such as the Mormons, have, for example, refused to let black people join or enjoy full membership. Loathesome, but constitutionally permitted. My point was that even constitutional rights tend have defined exceptions here and there.
I am not Mormon, and don’t agree with them doctrinally speaking, but in all fairness, they haven’t excluded blacks in about 40 years. Thats an entirely different story. It did happen in the long past, but it doesn’t any more. This still has no part in rights of individuals to protect themselves.
Fair comment, but let’s look at other, perhaps more controversial, areas such as marriage. Some churches, quite constitutionally, deny people the right to marry on grounds that would be unconstitutional if practiced by a non-religious entity. (and this is not solely a matter of sexual orientation, such bans exist for reasons of race, membership in the specific sect and the like.)
Since we don’t rank constitutional rights, the implication is that no such right is perfectly enforceable.
And the line between what is and what is not is why we have courts, the superior branches of which are labelled in some countries modelled upon our system, ‘Constitutional Courts’.
Treating the 2nd Amendment particularly, I don’t think anyone would seriously demand the right to take a White House tour whilst carrying an assault rifle over his shoulder. And, if he did, a future of legal disappointment would be his.
You are probably right about the voluntary association. I think that is why the states are passing laws ensuring the rights of people to protect themselves without fear of unconstitutional legislation against them. There is no association of Church membership requirements and a person’s right to protect themselves.
So it’s okay for them to illegally own a handgun?
The Big 12 has reportedly narrowed its list of expansions schools to “six to eight” potential candidates.

THE SPREAD
Oklahoma was one of the best bets in college football last season,
finishing with a 9-4 record against the spread. As a favorite, the
Sooners were 8-4 at the betting window and covered by a +6.6 margin in
all games last season. In non-conference games, Bob Stoops’ team
finished with a 2-2 ATS record and as an away favorite, the Sooners were
a perfect 4-0 at the betting window.
Houston was equally impressive against the number last season,
covering in nine of its 14 games on the season. The Cougars covered by a
+9.4 margin so they didn’t make bettors sweat too often when it came to
covering games. As an underdog, Tom Herman’s squad was 3-0 against the
spread last season and as an away underdog, they were 1-0 ATS, covering
by a +16.5-point margin.OUR EARLY PICK: This game should fall under for
bettors.
The under is 5-1 in the Sooners’ last six non-conference games
and has cashed in five of Oklahoma’s last seven contests played at a
neutral site. The under is also 5-2 in the Cougars’ last seven games
overall and is 7-3-1 in their last 11 games in September. Despite the
firepower that Baker Mayfield and Greg Ward Jr. bring to the table in
this matchup, this will be more of a defensive struggle than the high
point total suggests.
so where’s your money on this one then?
OU 41-31 so take UH and the spread (11.5)
In my pocket. I quite betting on OU in the 70s.
Never bet your favorite team. Unless its vs Alabama and you get 21 points
I live in the Dallas area and have season tickets. Just for the heck of it, I drove up to Norman last Saturday with my sister to take a look at the stadium (hadn’t seen it since the spring game). The pictures and videos do not do it justice. It is going to be impressive. And once the west side/press box is complete, it is going to not only be a tradition-rich stadium, but it will be one of the nicest college stadiums in the country. They have done a great job. Can’t wait to have the south end zone enclosed for a game. I’ve been sitting in that end zone for a long time.
you do know you can go home after the games? ////sssss HA
But it feels like home I’ve been sitting there for so long…
you do know you can go home after the games? ////sssss HA
Do you guys think we will get an updated roster before Saturday? Just so we have the accurate size/weight of our players going into the season.
That stuff usually has to be taken with a grain of salt. Most of the guys will fluctuate a bit during the season anyway. I think the last printable version on ss dot com is from the 29th though.
right i get that. 29th of August?
Yes, it says the roster information is from August 29th. Now, doesn’t say when they last weighed or measured them. So they could be old numbers. But they’re probably pretty close.
Yeah numbers haven’t changed in awhile. I am most curious about Caleb Kelly, Kapri Doucet, and Matt Dimon. Doesn’t seem that kelly and Doucet’s weights have changed since their last destination, which I find hard to believe. Down below, a comment mentioned Matt Dimon had said he was up to 290. That would be exciting if so
I am curious on some of those guys as well. Especially on the DL, LB, and OL…all spots where we got pushed around in the losses. It would be awesome if Dimon can be a huge disturbance on the line this year.
Hale ya
did someone say Hale?
http://sportstalk1400.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/james-hale.png
Good to see everyone so excited to see this season get started for so many different reason’s. I’m looking forward to seeing how this team has matured. All coach’s and player’s second year. So this learning curve should be awesome. Two dynamic Qb’s, our DL has been challenged from last yrs Clemson game our Db’s experienced on lock. Houston Db’s new vs our 2nd yr receiver’s more familiar with system and routes. Our experienced DL against a Houston new OL??? I smell bacon. So if Ward is running he can’t throw, and then again throwing is not his strongest skill, against experienced Db’s int’s how many do you all think? Team maturity is what I’m looking for. #BOOMER

LOL. Well done.
Nothing better than three quarters of a hundred by the end of the third qrt. Cept maybe Half a hundred at half time. We would then go to O’Connell’s at half, filler up and be back by mid 3rd. good times.
If thats the score on Sat we may even see this guy play…

90 degrees and raining in Houston??? that’s just not right, im glad the game is indoors
Just another day on the gulf coast.
No, it just means it’s raining somewhere in the Houston area. This should give you an idea.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the Houston metro statistical area has a total area of 10,062 square miles (26,060 km²), 8,929 sq mi (23,130 km2) is land area, while 1,133 sq mi (2,930 km2) is water area, slightly smaller than Massachusetts and slightly larger than New Jersey.[12]

BOB STOOPS AFTER WE BEAT HOUSTON———
Which team do you think will win the USC-Alabama game and the ND vs Texas game ? Alabama & ND get my vote.
Bama wins big. ND in a close one. Both teams have a lot of question marks at QB, and I think the defenses dominate that game.
Bama will roll SC. ND will win convincingly.
Yeah both should win
I think both will be closer than most expect. I would not be shocked if either USC or Texas pull the upsets. Both teams have enough talent but will have to have “one of those days.”
Bama and ND should win.
But,
I’m leaning both lose.
ND wins and covers spread. Bama wins but doesn’t cover
I am taking USC in the upset. ND wins vs UT.
Alabama – it won’t be close
Notre Dame – in a battle
USC has the best Oline in the country and Bama has the best Dline in the country. Im taking USC in a upset. Notre Dame wins big against Texsa.
I like it! But it’s the first game for Clay Helton, would be cool if it’s a battle though.
Clay Helton is a good guy so im rooting for him and also i have some friends on that team. I think Texsa fans are taking Notre Lame lightly , Notre Lame has stockpiled 4 & 5 star talent at every position.
Yeah I agree.
USC also matches bamas skill players and secondary.
It will come down to how Bama plans to move the ball offensively.
I like USC over Bama..
Texsa at home with new offensive system vs a lot of unexperienced ND defense.. ND also lost all their best offensive lineman…
If I was betting money… I would take Texsa and the points.
Juju Smith is arguably the best WR in the country and Adoree Jackson is a freaky athlete. Bama’s DB will get tested.
I saw that Osa was out, hope that allegation was unfounded, he’s a good player. OL wise Damien and Viane are good, but Toa’s kinda light and Daron Payne is a manchild. Kinda like Lotulelei a few years back and he single handly wrecked SCs line. I like Jack Jones hope he gets some tics on Sat.
I really wanted Osa , USC has so many studs at LB.
Cameron is good too, he’s not as athletic as Osa, or Porter, but man that kid is a ball hawk. His coverage skills are off the charts.
Cameron is legit.
Having those three on the field at the same time, could argue that’s the best LB core in the national hands down.
They were all true freshman last year which is scary.
Yep…saw them at a few camps their senior year. Porter is a big dude, athletic as heck.
USC has the best o-line AND the best wide receiver in the country? You must have been eating at the SC training table.
They have a really good team and their coaching staff is finally stable. I know alot of the guys on the team so im being nice. If USC wasnt on the rise during Adoree’s recruitment , Adoree would’ve been a Sooner.
I don’t follow USC. I just know they haven’t been as dominant as the used to be. It’s cool you know some guys out there. It gives you a different perspective.
Can they tie 2-2 and have the Goodyear blimp explode over the stadium?
USC has SUCd the last few years and so has Tejas. I’m going Bamer and the Dame.
I would too if the still had Kessler. They’re going to be breaking in a noob @ QB though & Bama’s usually not the best D to be doing that against.
Im curious to see how Bama’s offense operates on Saturday. Their replacing their Center , QB , 1st & 2nd string RB’s.
Bama
Notre Dame
I’d like to see USC and Fexas win.
Would love to see Bama lose, and even though I can’t stand a cocky longhorn, I would love for them to be undefeated going into the RRSO, just so revenge will taste that much sweeter.
However, I think that Bama and ND will both win.
Which team do you think will win the USC-Alabama game and the ND vs Texas game ? Alabama & ND get my vote.
J’s been quiet, must be working on that “What I’ll be watching” thread!

Who’s tailgating at Sugers on the 10th?
Edit: Metz??

That’s funny….kjsooner
Also too obvious no?

Well you said kjsooner mighty fast!

I thought at sugers, everyone got to enjoy the headlights and tailgates! Bazinga
NAWYCE!
If I land tix to the game, I’ll be making a stop by the Suger shack!
heck, you can pull your truck up to my driveway as Sugar’s has some suspicious people walking around outside. I’m in the burbs so it’s safe. 😉
mentioned earlier that UH lost 3/4 secondary guys including defensive leader and that the only thing worse for a first game would be rebuilding the OL and someone else said they are !
I can’t find my own post to reply and thank them 😕 so ,,
I looked it up and UH lost both starting OTs to graduation
And their starting Center to injury !
Not expecting too much of a game here .
Overcoming all that to even stay on the field with OU would be pretty impressive to me .
I don’t want to get overconfident but I don’t see Houston pulling this one off .
Good news indeed. I bump my toe on the memory of opening games against BYU and TCU. We can make the other team looked good. We’ve done that. I just hope that UH’s high rank and their win over FSU has gotten our guys attention. If so, then I believe we whup up on them.
My favorite D call – Bull rush the middle, crash the ends, and meet at the QB.
They do have a really good DT coming back and that Oliver kid choose them over LSU and Texas and if he is as good as the hype sure he will play and they have a really good LB. They have a solid RB transfer and WR transfer as well, they did lose their top WR from last year however.
If you’re talking about Samples (WR from OSU who transferred) he’s been ruled out w/ a concussion.
Tom Herman irritated with the press in Houston. http://www.chron.com/sports/cougars/article/UH-coach-Tom-Herman-cuts-off-SportsRadio-610-9195612.php
good, the more distractions the better…
Media being media.
Gameday is ALMOST here!!
Dang NRG soldout, should be crazy!
you’ve got to be kidding?
That means it will prob be >50% UH fans then
For sure…im expecting ALOT of boos.
do they sell alcohol in NRG?
I assume so since it has pro games too.
gonna be a wild morning/afternoon
Yes they do
Then I will be expecting alot of BOOZE too. 🙂
Should be a blast

haha I’d like to hear from someone who was there…just wanted to know what the full story was
Not the full story, but you can get the big picture idea from the full video.
Pretty sure it started off with the usual jawing and … well, yikes!
https://youtu.be/oPojG4XpLAY
LOL wow…that kid had every right to turn around and snatch that weave….he almost got some boots to the head.
He showed *remarkable* restraint.
I loved the full video of this. That chick was bonkers!
Her apology on the radio to Nick Saban was pretty comical as well!
Oh, man. Too bad I missed that. I don’t suppose it’s on youtube or anything?
I’m not real sure if it’s on YouTube or not. I read it on a sports site the week after the Sugar Bowl, and it had the clip on the page. Sadly, I can’t remember what site it was from.
You gotta admire they way she was all in. Commitment.
Flag for jumping the pile though.
Spearing
Top drawer spin move.
Wow that is impressive since Houston’s avg season ticket sales is only 18,000
Eh, I’d say 50% Horn fans more interested in seeing a team that has a better shot at beating OU this year than their team does.
KJ, if the Sooners OLB do a great job on Ward, maybe hold him under 50 yds rushing…do you think that answers the question of how the Sooners OLB will do this year?
I dont it will answer that question, more like we’re trending in the right direction.
gotcha, I know the Sooners are young but they’ll have a lot of speed down there chasing him around with Obo, Walker and Doucet, not to mention Evanses
getting out of there heathly too is always a concern
for sure
Agree with KJ on this one. If we do in fact actually contain Ward and keep his numbers down it may have as much to do with their young Oline than it does our LB’s/DL etc. If I remember right they lost 3 starters on their Oline and don’t have anyone special in their backfield. I could be remembering wrong though… always a possibility 😉
I think Obo > Striker and Evans > Alexander. Also, probably Sanchez = Austin. With everyone else making some improvements, including the backups, think we are in much better shape this year on D and O (except the biggest unknown. . . but the guy behind the guy who passes the ball).
I bet OU will have more fans there than Houston
I hope so.
No. doubt it. Would like it, but think there will be more UH fans and seem more like a road game.
Hope it’s better than the Final Four was, there.
Saw this on a Houston board.. Apparently a leaked photo of Who voted who… Probably fake but UH was not happy seeing it kinda funny watching them squirm lol
LOL @ Houston’s score. Should be similar Saturday
Does “V” mean veto? As in, a school has the authority to veto up to 2 candidates or something?
Humm Vacated i hope
Heh.
No, I just noticed that last column on the right, does say Veto. But how does it work? 1 veto is all it takes? I don’t get it.
Notice the 4 schools who vetoed UH are arguably the top 4 in the conference
I noticed Texsa vetoed UH on that sheet. Didn’t the whorns just announce a partnership with UH recently? And wasn’t speculation around that due to Texsa needing another errand boy in conference to suck up to them? If that pic is accurate, I find that funny.
I know! Maybe they’re trying to play hardball to get UH to sweeten whatever deal they want with a Houston campus, and *then* change their vote.
It actually looks like it might be legit. It seems to have a very convoluted voting scheme which is right in the B-12 admin’s wheelhouse.
looks weighted with veto power
So, based on this the first two in are Cinci and CSU. If they go four then add N. Illinois and Memphis. Assuming the Vetoes are actually vetoes.
assuming it’s legit, that’s what t looks like to me
I heard they sit cross-legged on a rug and practice Democracy in its purest form:
“Okay. If you want Houston in the conference, honk your kazoos three times and no more.”
Very surprised SF and UCF didn’t get more love. Also surprised how high UConn was on the list. Talk about a travel nightmare.
N Illinois is the big surprise to me
Well, all the schools are crap except BYU. So I guess since it makes decent geographical sense, it’s reasonable. I was mostly surprised about the attractive aspect of getting a foothold in FL.
I’d add BYU and Colorado St for now
Yep, me too.
Glad we vetoed Houston & SMU…YES!!!
According to this, Cincy, CSU, UCONN and BYU are the top 4 that are not vetoed.
In a way, that would make sense, but expanding at all doesn’t make sense.
Photoshopped. Not real. Fake (badly edited or Photoshop extension) paper, lines don’t match up and the headline doesn’t even flow with the curve…and that’s not even getting into the horrible pixelation going on here.
I think it’s fake too.. But who knows with the way the big 12 has been going
question is, why would anyone photoshop that… I could make that on Excel faster than my computer could even load photoshop.
Because why would results from coaches be listed on an excel file for readability? Most who want to see the results don’t want to be forced to use an excel compatible program to do so, so if it had been real it would be in simple printed format.
Right, so you make it in Excel for ease of use and save it as a PDF for distribution.
Ah. The conference that can’t spell ‘vetoes’. Very good.
If this is accurate, Texsa vetoed UH too. I thought they came out in support of UH.
OU/tex vetoed the same 2
Purely coincidence, I’m sure. KU and KSU seemed pretty well synchronized, too.
They did but I think Houston said they wouldn’t allow them to put a school there, so maybe that made up their mind

Below is the link from Athlon Sports on what to expect from Houston and a break down of what they got coming back. On the O side and the D!
@jordanesco:disqus will you guys be doing the over under bit again this year. It was always fun to see your guys ideas and then see what everyone else thought.
he mentioned having a score prediction type post later in the week
Thanks Bear!
Cant wait for this game!
ummmm…two words……En Oh.
https://twitter.com/BiIlionaires/status/771096058302754816
Well, that gave me butterflies.
3 more words: Oh. Em. Gee.
Yeahp, I got anxiety just watching the video.
Been there, done that. It’s pretty great.
Next, they have to cross into Zambia and raft the Zambezi river back to Zimbabwe…
I’ll take your word for it! lol
My wife is the one hanging over the front, kissing that rapid. I’m on her right, with the face plant.
You have to lean out over the raft going into these things, to keep the weight in the front.
This was a grade 4. There are 19 rapids on the river, 1 is grade 5.
We flipped 4 times. (have to avoid the hippos, when that happens)
Great fun, but might not do it again. LOL.
Oh man that’s crazy! How much river water did you swallow that day?
A LOT! Seriously though, the hippos are the bigger risk than the rapids. The trick is to stay in the raft. If not, and you are a “long swimmer” (separated from the raft), get to the shallow water.
Never go between a hippo and where it wants to go…the deep water. That’s the first rule you learn.
I bet, hippos are nasty mofos, I wouldn’t mess with them. I watched the movie Congo!
I bet, hippos are nasty mofos, I wouldn’t mess with them. I watched the movie Congo!
Ha. They actually kill more people in Africa than any other animal kills.
u. r. crazy.
I used to live there and have been there many times. It’s hundreds of feet to the bottom,, all rocks. Also, there are crocodiles and hippopotamuses which are more dangerous than crocodiles. Crazy, crazy stupid. When it gets even drier, little bitty African boys will walk out on the rocks that the water flows over. One slip and hundreds of feet. Why parents let their kids near that I’ll never understand.
Is anyone here going to Houston for the game? I need advice on places to eat!?
Houston is known for great restaurants. Any of the Pappas themed restaurants. just about any Mexican place is good.
Got the ol’ tank full of 50-cent corndogs from Sonic. Carb-loading before this football thang goes down. Who’s drinking what Saturday? Me: Corona (w/ salt and lime).
perfecto!
You’re drinking perfecto? What’s perfecto? Is that one of those Michelle-approved kale shakes?
You know…perfecto! opposite of “that sucks!”
Ah. Example sentence(s): “Corona es cerveza perfecto. El Universidad de Tejas es no perfecto.” Like that, right?
C!
C!
LOL!
Exactly what I’ll be having! Wouldn’t want it any other way.
Love it, man. All year long. My go-to.
THE question is, does it bring RR good luck?? If so, putting my life savings on OU……
Nah. But it does bring sidewise glances from my teetotaler wife. I stole her from the SBC (and I ain’t giving her back).
I couldn’t agree more.
Crown and Coke.
Coke with a bite. Nice.
Water on the rocks, maybe a twist of lime.
Thins the blood. Flushes the kidneys. Keeps it real.
…
My fave!!!!!!
Depends on the score
Only how much depends on the score
This wait for Saturday is killin’ me! Could someone please warp time for me?
If I could time warp, I’d go back to the 2011 OU-Tech game. I’d stand at the ramp to the locker room and tell the players to stuff umbrellas in their vaginas. Because there ain’t gonna be no rain delay.

Bon Jovi can turn back time, but not forward.
Bon Jovi can turn back time, but not forward.
Stay busy..works for me…cant believe OU football is this saturday!
…It’s just a step to the left…..and a jump to the right,
then you put your hands on your hips,
and pull your knees in tight.
But, it’s the pelvic thrust that’s gonna drive you insane,
That’s how you do the time warp, again.
LOL!

Yep.
Except for actual reps I guess

Yeah, I usually buy it because it’s normally the first game of the year. We will know abOUt OUr team against hOUston so I might not get it this year. Always comes on around midnight anyways.
I just can’t go for $60. And 2 years ago, they melted down under the load and the entire Q1 was blown. I didn’t pay, so I don’t know how they handled that, but for $60, it better be absolutely flawless.
I think $40 is my absolute limit.
there are always alternatives
Yeah. That’s how I knew the 1st Q didn’t work 2 years ago 🙂
Edit: well, that and everyone on whatever message board I was frequenting back then was completely melting down.
What would be your favorite alternatives?
well… i wish there were a private message feature to this site
Me too. If I could only add one thing, that would be first.

I’ve noticed a complete turnover there. Not sure what’s going on.
They still exist?!
Barely. When I follow a link to there, I notice the comments range from zero to maybe five or six.
yeah but for a while there it was all we had and it was pretty good.
Oh yeah. Some classic game threads and meltdowns, lots of laughs. Was my favorite until this thing got going.
whatever happened to pitbull?
Last time he posted here he had moved to an area with bad cell service and was working a lot of hours supporting his family. Hope he shows up during the season.
Who’s Donnie Hazlewood? Is that someone you liked to read, KJ?

Andrews too
Andrews too
noticed that
Shouldn’t have even been close
avoiding contact is supposed to be the hard part
He went olé
noticed that
And Flowers gets blown up. Mleh.
His block made it happen though
A block is a block, I guess. No matter how ugly.
Being in the right spot is high on Stoops list
He was the nail to that hammer
Samia takes his guy down past the center.
Andrews didn’t block anybody at all.
Hope he does better at that this year. That was horrible by Andrews
Flowers got de-cleated….
Yeah he did. Looks like he goes back to pick up his mouthpiece or something at the end. Ouch.
I was hoping somebody(!) would’ve blown up Boulware that night. Instead Barney Rubble got himself a pick, and so Napoleon keeps marching to Moscow.
at least 8 defensive players made it to the backfield…

$60 to watch the ULM online a game I would only go to if someone gave me free tickets.. Sorry soonersports.tv you product isn’t worth what you are charging. A few days ago I watched the last part of a soccer game on there. Right in the middle of OT they stopped the stream and said the game was over. Too many screwups like that to make their Internet network worth the money. Once my subscription runs out I’m done.
That’s a bit high for what likely will a crappy game, unless you invite a bunch over and charge admission.
Another lurker here. Hope it’s safe to get into the water! To prepare for this Saturday and the new season I finished bootleggers boy over the weekend. I sure recommend that book if you haven’t read it…..BOOMER
Always need more Sooner fans, welcome.
Sooner Ray, howdy. In Houston, boarding the plane back to Akron. I didn’t see anyone wearing OU gear.
You’re going the wrong way. 🙂
Yeah. I’ll be back in two weeks.
Let me know when you come back and I will come visit with you.
I will be flying to DFW on September 16. Driving up to OKC the same day.
And we sure need more on this side of the river
Welcome. Of course it’s safe here. I read Bootlegger when it was first published.
welcome
Sooner!! Welcome aboard!!! Good Book one of the few I have ever read cover to cover. Life and crimes of Oklahoma football was good as well. And of course the Oklahoma Football Encyclopedia just for good measure.
I wonder what happened to the movie?
Thanks to all. My first real exposure to the monster of Oklahoma football was the one time a year thanksgiving games against Nebraska. I was a high school qb and idolized Jack Mildren. Been hooked ever since!
Glad that you’re here.
SOONER!!!
Great to have you!
Welcome TS
i recommend you read The Undefeated about the 47 win streak
Oh yes I have that one prominent in the man cave! Fits in good with all my t-sipper friends.
Welcome, hope you enjoy it.
and blaster is providing wise coulee with The Undefeated.
SOONER! Welcome to ya.
Welcomes.
Sammy!

I sure wish Denver would have picked Sam up. I am a major Sam fan, but i will always hate the Eggys and Rams for what that did to Sam
Me too!
The Eagles’ beat writer for espn, a douche known as Phil Sheridan, dogged Bradford all last season. Can’t wait to see him eat his words.

Who’s the player we’re all talking about after Saturday? I’m picking Johnson with Obo not far behind.
Mixon
I was typing Mixon but you took him so I’ll go with my back up plan AD Miller.
I don’t think they can cover Andrews, so I’ll go with him.
Tay Evans.
Jordan and Tay should have a huge day, both with 10+ tackles
I’m going to go with Austin. I think the passing they do will be towards his side and he could have a big day. I’m predicting at least one interception from him.
I hope it’ll be difficult to single out just one player, due to such a great team effort.
Andrews or Mixon
Kapri Doucet.
AD Miller
I would love to see Austin Roberts have a coming out party and have a couple of sacks.
I’m hoping the entire offensive line.
Jeff Mead
whoever gets punt return yards
Mixon
I look for Andrews to put up nasty numbers.
Baker Baker, the Touchdown Maker!
aka Baker ‘the Playmaker’ Mayfield.
Mr. Perine!
I think of this game and the hype around it and get a little uneasy. Then I think about Houston starting 4 new O-lineman, losing their best recieved from last year, another recievers who transferred from OSU (who they are expecting big things from) can’t play, 2 linebackers getting their first start and 3 of the 4 in their secondary making their first start at the D1 level against an offensive powerhouse. Obviously Tom Herman is a good coach and will have his guys as ready as they can be but looking at all the inexperience on this Houston team makes me think that we can beat the brakes off their @$$. I think once the flood gates open there won’t be any looking back.
Keep thinking, it seems to be going well.
That’s all I can do with only 2 1/2 days left.
Wow, I wasn’t expecting this type of comment from you Lane, I’m glad you’re on board the schooner 😉
Boom
4 new O-line alone, is a huge deal. We’re nervous with 2 new ones. That alone is huge. Hoping Mike has our guys blitzing and stunting to shake up their O-line.

I’m eager to see what transpires when we unleash our new secret play: the punt return. Exciting things could happen!
The WHAT? We’re all excited, but don’t get crazy on us – punt return?
Yes. Apparently it’s a process whereby one team can matriculate the ball upfield upon the exchange of possession. This is all theoretical, mind you, but I’m quite keen to see it in its execution phase.
Okay. I recall OU doing so, but that was years back – I just assumed the rules were changed or OU was on “punt return probation.”
