This has to be one of the best numbers in OU history.
#11 is stacked! BOOMER SOONER! (morning Bleed!)
Good number.
FOOTBALL,Dick

Morning, Metz!!
The Play!
https://youtu.be/Z1MpHG5x6q0
I can still hear myself screaming about that one! My wife was like, what just happened. And I couldn’t explain it because I was so ecstatic. My youngest son was just looking at me stunned. My brother was watching the game with us and we were both yelling at Roy, DON’T LEAVE YOUR FEE….OH YES!!!!
Probably my favorite of the Stoops era! So awesome
My favorite is a play that most have forgotten about (in the Stoops era). It is a shovel pass to Renaldo Works at home against Bama that turned the game around late and OU came back to win it.
that one was awesome! He did some magic on that – ran around quite a few Bama players
Yep, I think I was stunned because my wife was like what is going on with the game, you are quiet and standing, so something happened. LOL That was a great play.
In case you wanted to watch it again 🙂

YOU DA MAN! Love this play.
Good number because OU is so good…..It take two #1’s to describe the goodness.
Lendy Holmes
https://youtu.be/pBa1XMa8ulw
I loved Lendy!
Ontei Jones forces Weinke out of the pocket for the strip and recovery.

Another play I screamed about. 🙂
OUt of my mind!
Love it!
A lot of history in that number for sure.
Morning Ray!

Good morning, fellow Brainiacs!!!! Hopefully our youthful OL gels quickly.
FOOTBALL J.r.
FOOTBALL, Metz!!!
Morning JR! I am not as worried about the OL as I am the WR and LB’s.
Good morning, Golf!! I think we’ll be just fine at LB. WR is a definite concern though. Houston and tOSU are a sizable step up from Tulsa and Tennessee and you saw how our OL performed in those two games.
If the guys will use their eyes and hands at WR, they will be fine. Got to look that ball into your hands. I played WR and our coach preached that from around 6th grade on up. Eyes and hands.
I think the WRs are going to step up big time. Everyone will be involved, and plays are going to made all over the field.
I think it is going to be like it was in 2000 where there was not one go to guy (although Andrews might be a go to guy at times), but everyone is a danger. I hope it is that way. Makes the defense have to really work to defend the entire field.
That’s how I see it too. By mid season we will have one or two “go-to” guys in critical situations, but I think the whole corps will contribute all year long.
I’ll take it. 🙂
Good receivers if they can catch de ball.
Morning JR, we will know quickly.
WHAT A GREAT DAY TO BE A SOONER! It all comes together this year, only the second in a completely new offense, and it will be GREAT!!
Pagan!
mETZZKER
Morning Pagan!
Not worried. As long as our DL is clickin, I think the rest of the team will be just fine. It’s going to be fun….again!
Packed news, thanks Jordan! Getting close!!

Morning 76!
Morning Golf! You get your chance to golf this summer yet?
Nope. Probably won’t play this year. UGH!
Can’t have everything. Least football is almost here!
You got that right. The time I had free to play golf I spent driving to see my only grandchild. She will be three in October, so I enjoy spoiling her with chocolate ice cream! 🙂 I also let her drive my pickup which made her mom (my daughter) not happy. That’s what grandparents are for.

I could use one. Must have been a necessity when the Germans were in town.
Where’s my buddy Unofficial Longhorn? Here is a headline for you.
Youth rules the offensive line at No. 3 Oklahoma – BUT we are not saying, wait till 2017.
Based on these comments, I’m getting the very strong sense that there will be some tackle football contests, open to public viewing, in the quite near future.
I may randomly tackle someone today…just because. 🙂
And spike your lunch beverage as well.
Ian Boyd…..meh.
Good morning everyone
Boomer Dave. Good AM.
Sooner Woofer!
Howdy Woof.
hound is in the house!
Good morning Dave. I’m afraid that I can’t open that pod bay door. Too many Horns on the other side of it.
Howdy Hound. Horns this early have to be a problem 😉
I think only a minor nuisance this year.
Hopefully its 35-7 OU midway through the third
Morning Dave!
Howdy Golf, you watch any of the US Amateur
No, I was sick all weekend and spent most of it asleep.
Sorry to hear that. Dalke looked pretty good in the semis. Thought he was going to pull it off
I did read about it. He should be proud of how well he did.
Yep plus gets Exemption to the US Open and Masters plus 7 years to the US Amateur
Just getting to step foot on Augusta National would be awesome! I would love to lose about 30 golf balls on that course, just to say I have played it.
Me too! Id probably shank 2 shots because of nerves per hole then another 2 just to hang around lol
I think I would just use my putter on every shot. Probably score the best that way.
Good plan Oracle
Until the putter comes off the shaft and you have to use your driver to putt.
Yep, I hear you. But it would be awesome. I have to say my first sub-state golf tournament when I was high school, I was a nervous wreck. I was in the second group teeing off and we all started at #1. I shanked my t-shot so bad it went between my legs and landed on the green behind me. I turned around and my golf coach was just hanging his head (I was our #2 golfer). I went to that green, grabbed a 3 wood and “picked” it off the green right down the middle of the fairway. I bogeyed the first hole, but it was a great recovery. LOL
That is a great recovery.
Yeah, my coach caught me at the turn and asked how I did on that hole after that. When I told him I bogeyed he about fell over. Even better I was only 5 over at the turn and was in contention to go to state. (Our entire team ended up going to state).
Tin Cup!
Not quite that good. But it was a relief to hit a decent shot. LOL
Dave! SoonerFootball!
Howdy Oscar. How goes it?
It was a chilly night on Lake Erie! Football is in the air!
Got down to low 60s here. Maybe a long cold winter?
50’s up here in Illinois.
53 here in SW Kansas. Chilly and felt great this morning at 0600 when I walked out of my garage.
I love 50 degree nights and mid 60 degree days
You and me both, Dave. Fire up the hot tube!!!
Make a fire and just enjoy the night
Maybe.
Great!
Good morning all. It’s another great day to be a Sooner. And Horns, sucks for you!!!
Morning hound!
Hey golf, how’s it going today?
Getting better. I’m almost over my cold and we are one day closer to kickoff. How about you?
Doing well, Golf. Had a wonderful weekend with the grandkids (all Sooners of course) and we are just a few days away from our NC run!!

Metz! Football!!!!
Morning Oscar!
Can anybody tell me please why in the heck we are playing Houston at 11:00 am when this is the two highest ranked teams? Does not make sense.
Because E$PiN and Fox made that decision. It is completely stupid!
But the game is on ABC, isn’t it?
ESPN = ABC….
Well, yeah. There’s that.
Shenanigans by ESPN. Just like their preseason AA list. No B12 players anywhere.
Just one more reason for the guys to play with a chip on their shoulder. Stoop’s teams always seem to do best with that mentality anyway. Go out there this season and show ’em!
ESPN is showing OU that they need to leave this league
I sure don’t see Boren signing any extension. Bet he plays wait and see. But this expansion thing, it just doesn’t fit with that plan. Not sure what he’s thinking.
OU has no reason to sign an extension. Boren is a career politician, Im sure he has some end game planned.
Well I hope anyway.
Yeah, me too. As a politician, he’ll be looking several moves ahead.
Which is why I think this league stays at 10, need 8 votes to bring in a school. UH wont get 8 because OSU OU KSU and KU wont want additional recruiting competition in Texas
Maybe they want people to watch Football at 11:00 on a holiday weekend. Sounds good, but it’s probably money…it usually is about money.
Kind of screws up tailgating….what kind of beer goes with pancakes?
Any beer goes with pancakes. ?
Wheat beer is perfect for AM. Newcastle Brown Ale actually has an aftertaste that reminds me of Fruity Pebbles
I’m a “no hangover” German beer guy myself. Pils and pancakes. Maybe, weissbier.
Nice I like them all. Except Miller Lite which is headache in a can
Try Warsteiner. Definitely my favorite.
Warsteiner ist gut.
Ive found it in 5L mini kegs. Perfect size for the ice box
Edit: only 21 bucks too
Dave I sat for hours during three wonderful evenings in Berlin at a sidewalk cafe enjoying their schnitzel and Warsteiner. It was heaven.
Awesome my last name is German just spelled the American way. Ive always wanted to get over to Germany
You should go. The people are super friendly and the city is really clean. History is off the charts, of course. Tons to see. Also, I didn’t know that Sooner was German. Hehehe
Its on the list but behind Sicily and the wife wants Fiji
For Fiji, try Turtle Island. True Paridise.
Someday. Travel is shelfed for now.
Pretty country. Supposedly, 20,000 castles. I think they’re pretty liberal in what they call a castle, but there are some real McCoys.
Germany is now pretty much a Muslim country! Goodluck!
All good. No 3.2 German Bier. No Oklahoma grocery store BS.
Nah this is from the liquor store. 6.0
Oh and btw I think cold 6.0 beer is on the ballot this year for Oklahoma
That’s what I understand. Hope it passes. More for the wine choices, but good beer too.
Yep i dont drink a lot anymore but I still drink a 6 pack on occasion. Football always increases consumption
F the Germans
Hey now, I am 75% German. LOL
Just referring to my job Golf!
LOL! I know that Metz! I say that about my 100% German relatives that talk about me in German since I do not speak German.
It’s a tough language to learn, too.
Most of my Dad’s siblings (and all of his cousins) were taught German and English from birth. I have a book that goes back to the late 1800’s when our relatives first came over to America. It details every one of my relatives from that trip. It is pretty interesting. It has a listing of all of those related to the families that came over and goes from 1859 (I believe) through my children.
And well my last name is all German!
True dat! As is mine.
Because if most people just see the final score, they can say the game played out however they want.
To be honest, I am ok if they are playing today, RIGHT NOW. Just want to see OU football asap 😉
DAMMMMMM Kidnap looks bad ass
Yes she does err I mean yeah good movie
Her also!!!!!!!!!!
I always think of the Bond movie with her in that bikini!
Shes top 5
Wow, no kidding. Just watched that.
Cincy and Byu… coming to your big 12
Not sure why. BYU brings all sorts of problems and Cinci pretty much doesn’t bring a thing of value.
Would rather it be UConn and BYU. At least UConn would bring some entertainment to big 12 B-ball.
Men and women.
Dunno about women. UCONN would run the table every season in women’s B-Ball in the BIG XII.
Yeah, they’re crazy good.
OU isn’t going anywhere in WBB until they find a new coach anyway. Regardless, nobody can compete with UCONN in WBB.
Probably would. They run the table on everyone else. The rest of the conference would try to keep up somehow, maybe transgender athletes?
Cincy officially expressing interest in the Big 12 is like a 16 yr. old walking up to the showroom at the Chevy dealership and ‘officially’ expressing interest in taking that new ‘vette for a test drive.
Umm… of course Cincy is interested. That’s never been the question.
LOL! Great analogy!
Perfect
By far the two best options IF BYU can make a few changes to fit in. I think some people forget how solid Cincy has been in football and hoops over the years. Put them in the Big 12, and they can turn into TCU/Baylor in a few years. UCONN is a terrible fit. They may be in the best market, but distance-wise, culturally, and for a host of other reasons, I’ll be glad when they aren’t added.
Well, they have to add 2 teams.. right?
How stupid does it look to have a conference championship with 10 team round robin conference….
Looks very stupid.
Well it’s been a while since the Big 12 made a smart decision. So, you never know what they’re going to do.
Those who are making the trip down to Houston, make sure that you try some of our local beers. Saint Arnolds, Karbach and No Label! BOOM!
I live in OKC, but I’ve been to the Karbach brewery in Houston. Excellent!
It does have it’s own “magic” you might say!
So what does everybody think of this 3-3-5 D with the personnel we are putting on the field?
I think we are going to kick a$$
I think it is a great D for the Big 12 teams that throw a ton. Not sure how it fairs against teams with big o-lines (see Clemson) that run the ball.
Yeah kinda curious how it will work out to contain a really good mobile QB like at Houston.
They better tackle well. (Same for any defense)
I actually think it will work well containing a mobile QB, depending on the o-line size. That is my only worry. A big o-line and you really need a 4 man front. I loved the 4-2-5 that Mike ran when he first came to OU. He was aggressive and took the fight to the offense. I would love to see us go back to that.
Meh. It’s a weak run D.
It is built to win the Big XII and stopping a power running game is not required to win the Big XII. Unfortunately, it may be required to win in the playoffs, which puts Big XII teams in a tough position.
It is a little like when we played Bama. They weren’t equipped to stop our spread offense, but we weren’t equipped to stop their power game. Fortunately, we were able to out-perform them.
The real problem is that we have to build a team that can stop a spread 5-7 games per year. In the playoffs, our opponents get a month to build a team to stop the spread once. It’s easier for them to do that in a month then for us to find a bunch of run-stopping DL during that month.
Bama has to stop spread offenses 5-7 times per year too now. Half the SEC, including Bama, run spread offenses now. Clemson runs a 4-3/4-2-5 Nickel.
They have not faired to well against Ole Miss.
Things have changed.
Bama didn’t have to stop spread offenses in the playoffs and only made the playoffs because of a fluke play be Arkansas against Ole Miss.
Clemson is a spread offense and so was Ohio State.
Michigan State was who they played last year, tOSU beat them the year before. MSU is not a spread offense. But yes, Clemson is. I think it is easier to take a defense geared towards stopping the run and arrange them to stop the pass than it is to gear one the other way. Just based on size of the d-line. But hey, what do I know. LOL
Clemson scored more on Bama than us which you would figure. Ironically Bama beat Clemson with offense
And special teams. Which was how Clemson turned the game around on us. That dumb safe punt return crap came back to bite us.
Oh god. Please don’t bring that up.
Actually, we were up 7 and on the first play or our second possession we have Shep open for a 70 yard TD on the slant and the ball is tipped at the line.
We then are driving for a score and get stopped by the “unsportsmanlike clapping” penalty (total BS). Then give up the fake punt after stopping them.
We legitimately could have been ahead 21-0.
Oh well. It means nothing if you don’t convert. We didn’t, they did.
We left a lot of points on the field in the first half.
Yes, I remember it all too well. UGH
Safe punt and didn’t prepare for a fake.
Safe punt and didn’t prepare for a fake.
Did Bama beat Ohio State? I seem to recall that they were destroyed by tOSU.
Look at the final score, they had to hit 45 pts to win. that’s not smash mouth football.
I like it because you have lots of options who to blitz. They will never know where the blitz is coming from.
OU is versatile on defense. We run a 3-4 and a 3-3-5. We actually can start running some more 4-3 and 4-2-5 with the depth we have now.
This. From what I heard the coaches say, they want to be multiple and go “big” against power running teams. Which I took to mean 4 down linemen.
I HOPE SO! Sorry, didn’t mean to yell, but it is something I wanted to see last year.
Ok, the Norwegian Belly Flop video….SERIOISLY?!?! No way would you catch me doing that.
I’m just glad the Texans FINALLY decided to change up the field at NRG stadium. So many complaints from the Texans players and opponents in the past. I’ll be at the game this Sunday to bless the field for the Sooners. I guess they were just waiting for the storm from Oklahoma to come through….
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/21/texans-players-like-the-new-field-at-nrg-stadium/
Was there this last weekend. Field looks great, it’s very bright. To the point it almost glows. I know that sounds weird, but it’s a great improvement!
Now it’s Clowney time!!!!
He looked great. He played faster then everybody on the field. I hope he can hold up this season.
Yes. If he gets hurt again….so much for the next LT in the league.
190 posts and not a single texsa SUCKS,let me the 1rst to say it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You found the void and filled it. Gold star for you today.
ah Metz, you didn’t read very well. EVERYONE knows whorns suck, and it IS below!
Oh contrar!!!, read below.
In case anybody’s wondering, it’s almost 5 pm in East Africa, and the last time I checked everybody here knows that texsa SUCKS!
My Gad! How did we come to this! TFBers need to stay on top of things like this –
I had just seen that Jacob Phillips jumped 72 spots to land at number 37 overall in the Rivals 100. Nice little bump in the ratings.
I’d rather have him than Hines. But that’s just my personal opinion
The belly flop thing….what in hell goes on in Norway? These people need serious medication.
Maybe it gives them a jolt of serotonin? Gotta get through those dark winters somehow!
It’s like a sponsored event, and the bleachers were packed. Sorry, not for me, looks way too painful.
Not everyone is sold on Josh Heupel as Missouri’s coordinator
http://gridironnow.com/missouri-football-josh-heupel/
Not everyone is sold on Travis Haney, either.
I think they are right to be concerned.
I think they are right to be concerned.
I am a huge fan of Josh. He was a great QB, great QB coach. I thought he could be a great OC/HC some day. Unfortunately, he never seemed to decide on an offense. I did not see him game the D. It appeared that he just ran plays. He needed more time under Leach/Mangino. We would play teams susceptible to the run and we would throw it the whole time. It was lost on me what he was trying to do other than pick the next play in the book.
I’m glad we’ve got Lincoln and they’ve got Josh.
I always felt like Josh tried to take whatever defense we were playing’s best asset and tried to do that against them. It drove me nuts. But I did love him as a QB and a QB coach. I just felt like he was not quite ready to be an OC.
From my understanding, it’s not the x’s or o’s but more the personality or lack thereof. Players didn’t like playing for him when he went to OC.
He seems to be a really dry personality guy. Which may rub people wrong if they do not know how to take him.
Well said.

Makes sense that Riley has a contingency plan for if/when a RB gets hurt.
10th player to transfer from LSU. Something smells in Baton Rouge.

Something always smells around liar Les, as well as Baton Rouge.
5 of the 10 are WRs
5 of the 10 are WRs
After the flooding, literally as well as figuratively!
OUCH Cush, that was a low blow. But after some consideration, I will allow it.
Hey man! Glad to see you going strong today! Just now getting through my early work with enough time to TFB.
No evil intent to those really suffering, but Lester brings the worst out. Not the kind of coach I like.
Yep, Lester is why I allowed it. He just cannot tell the truth and I cannot stand the faces he makes. I would never allow my child to play for someone like him.
I’m glad they’ve got Lester and we’ve got Bob.

Heard the tail end of Carey Murdoch talking about how OU lost a 4* recruit because of the invite only BBQ. Said an administrator sent a recruit a thanks for coming letter and he didn’t even attend. Anyone know who Carey was talking about?
That was a Michigan recruit
That’s about as thin skinned as you can get.
Kids need “safe zones” these days
Its called “entitlement”.
They need to be “entitled” to a butt whooping by their parents growing up. Then they learn they cannot always get their way. Ask my kids about entitlement, each of them work their butts off for everything they have.
Seems you go to jail for that these days. Boy have times ever changed.
Nah you can still whoop them just not like what we got
Ha, my mother had an OU RufNecks paddle. I did grow to hate that thing.
My grandfather had a very thick leather belt. I told him when I turned 20 or so that I wanted to cut that thing into little pieces. He just smiled.
Two words: The holes!!!!!
I don’t even want to ask how she got that paddle
No public spankings like I used to get. That is for sure. Another thing my kids complained about growing up was having to come home for supper every night at 6PM and we sat down and ate as a family. They always whined about that, now they thank us for doing that.
We eat at the table, the kids friends that come over are “what the hell is going on”
Exactly! The only time we did not eat at the table was when we had a sporting event to get to that one of the kids was involved with. Other than that, we are sitting down at the table as a family.
It was 5PM Golf. You would have gone to bed hungry.
Naw, growing up on the farm it was always 6PM so my grandfather could watch the crop reports on TV. LOL
Lol. Ours was 5, but I don’t know why that time. We lived on farms too, so that would be kind of early in season.
LOL! Yeah, I have no idea why it was that time either, but I do know that was one of the few times the TV was on during a meal. My wife’s family also ate at 6 when she was growing up because that was when her dad got home from work. So we still eat at 6. Even though our kids are grown and gone, my wife and I still sit down at 6PM (most nights) to have supper.
These whippersnappers.
And free speech zones. Wow, talk about a bunch of cry babies.
I remember free speech. But its been awhile. 🙂
Amen brother!
That will be 5$. thx. Send to TFB
Dont know. Seems kind of like your girl friend/wife calling you by their ex’s name during sex.
LOL! I’ve never had that problem.
I’d be pissed if I were you woof. Did they both do that?
LOL! Morning MoJo!
Morning Golf. Hope all’s well with you.
You as well!
LMAO. No but my in laws took three years to not call me by her ex’s name. It changed when we showed up for a visit and i had a name tag on. They laughed, but never did same again.
I like it! I like it a lot. Wish I could have filmed that one 🙂
Woof, get a separate bank account now, buddy.
It happened at Michigan, not OU.
It was Aubrey Solomon, a former Michigan commit. It was not just the letter. It was a number of things that gave him the impression they did not want him at Michigan as badly as others. For example, they apparently kept spelling his name wrong, even after he had corrected them on occasion. I can completely see his point, and it has everything to do with human nature and relationship building, not just recruiting or being “thin skinned.” People want to go where they are wanted and needed. If someone cannot take the time to learn your name, it says something.

I can see Harbaugh’s neck vain throbbing all the way down here in Houston!
Any chance we can sneak in an peak interest on this kid?
Agreed; Harbaugh probably went Altered Beast when he got wind of this. Wish we did. We should do everything we can to win his services, but I think it is UGA or Bama realistically. I think his Mom is all UGA.
Good morning fellow Brainiac’s. “It is another great day to be a SOONER”
Carry on!!!!
It is! Greetings and –
Good morning, Cush!
Do you want to play in a golf outing this Friday?
Sam, I still have woooooooork. What you got goin’ man?
We had two team drop out at the last minute. I’m afraid we’re going to get stuck with the cost.
Don’t you live in Ohio? Where are you playing?
Yes; I was just messing with you.
We’re playing at a local course: Good Park Golf Course
Morning Sam!
Morning, golf!
Cush, Mornin.

Sweet!
Mornin, Sam.
Morning.
Morning 47! You forgot the lurkers statement. 🙂
Mronin, Golf. Busy, busy this AM. I will not forget again.
Well, I’m not lurking, so it’s ok today. LOL
Texsa fans are sleeping on Notre Lame. Notre Lame always recruits well and they alot of studs on that team , plus they actually have good coaches.
Not sure how a team coming off a 5-7 season could take anyone lightly, especially a 10th ranked ND team. But texsa is gonna be texsa, humility has never been a strong suit.
And it is Notre Dame, they always travel well and have a respectable to good team. Do not think either team will look past the other for this game.
ND 31, Texsa 24
I could see the texsa offense having some issues with turnovers in this game.
ND 28, texsa 10
ND just suspended and/or kicked off the team 5 players including starters.
They see the shorhorns like we see ULM.
I doubt they do, but if they do they are fools. Will not be a layup and the Redfield kid that was dismissed from the team could play. They will miss him.
Oh yes, they will miss a couple of those guys.
Texas fans shouldn’t be sleeping on much of anybody until they put a good team on the field. I think they can win more games than many OU fans think they can, but they can just as easily start the season 1-4, or 1-5.
OU fans simply feel that it’s more likely that they go 4-8.
Nah, OU fans WANT them to go 4-8. On paper, they should be better. I bet they end up 6-6 or better.
David Pollack is a dunce.
ESPN shows no love to OU but love to hype up TCU and texsa.
Oh goodness, what did pollack say or do now?
Ill never forget on game day last year the host asked him a question on how to “mitigate” a certain teams situation and pollack just stared right into the camera laughed and said “I don’t know what mitigate means” while continuing to laugh and everyone else working just looked around at each other lol. I can’t stand that buffoon.
He’s just a dummy, imo. He showed up to one of the shows wearing an orange t-shirt, and called his co-host (female) DUDE. I was like look man, you’re not Mr. SEC DL cool guy anymore, you’re an analyst, act like one.
@kj1123:disqus I completely agree with you. Not only did he call her dude. He made a stupid comment/joke about Christian Ponder. If he wants to be taken seriously he needs to stop acting like a simpleton and start acting like a professional. But then again he lost me when he said whenever the Sooners are ranked in the top 5 to start a season they never finish in the top 15.
Douche* is the correct spelling.
Douche* is the correct spelling.
You misspelled Dumb Sonofabitch.
K has line stuff up!
Thanks Jordan! The Cincinnati thing is almost as funny as the dog eating.
Love the 8 Sooners All-12-2, but hope one LB / DE makes the end of the season list.
Several big 12 players could have made that list, but you know, ESPN….
They are playing with the B12-2, because of expansion talks. Same with TV times etc. They have reached UT suckage in my book.
They reached that years ago in my book.
It wouldnt surprise me. I kinda hope we invite 2 crap teams, they take us to court, and the GoR evaporates.
I personally would love to see the Cincinnati WVU series renewed. Its a shame it ever went a way…. like OU vs Nebbish….
