ESPN College Gameday Won’t Be Comin’ To Your Citaaaaay, Houston

With an opening weekend as loaded as that of the 2016 college football season, it probably shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that ESPN’s College Gameday will not be in Houston when the Sooners and Cougars square off on September 3rd. As the folks at Gameday instead announced late Wednesday morning they will be at Lambeau Field for the LSU/Wisconsin game.

Personally, there are few things I have come to care less about on a college football Saturday than Gameday. But I know some fans enjoy it and/or the supposed “prestige” the show brings to their team’s game when ESPN crew is in town.
Therefore those OU fans will have to wait for what seems like a given with respect to Gameday being in Norman for the big OU/Ohio State game. Although considering that game is on FOX and while, at this point, no question THE biggest game of that particular weekend, it’s not THE only big game (if you’re thinking like an ESPN tv decision-maker). So I’m not entirely convinced Gameday for Sooners vs. Buckeyes is the virtual lock many consider it to be, but as many are usually quick to point out….what do I know?

They get a chance to go to Lambeau while it is warm. Gotta do it.
You mentioned the Fox thing last year, and I went and checked. I think you were right. I couldn’t find a time where they (ESPN Gameday) went to a game that wasn’t on ESPN or CBS. That probably doesn’t bode well, but it sure seems like a game they’d want to be at.
Well why would they give media coverage to Houston? They are doing all they can to keep the Big 12 from adding them.
It was either Lambeau or Arlington, I figured that was a given.

Arlington is a horrible place to watch sports. The city sucks and that stadium is an abomination. Cowboys fan here, btw.

EsecPN has do all can to boost it’s investment in the SEC. It’s blatantly obvious. Also, check out its list top 20 “toughest schedules” derived from its ridiculous FPI; OU’s not even listed?? It’s no surprise that GameDay isn’t going to Houston, in fact I’m surprised they’re not covering the Bama/USC game.

Bama/USC would have been an acceptable choice, at least both are ranked, and theres a lot prestige between them. But this is just a kick in the teeth.

I could not even tell you when the last time I watched gameday on e$pin. It has to be at least 4 or 5 years since I thought it was worth my time.

It’s been many years. Went in 1999 while in KC for the B12 championship game vs ksu only because we were in a hotel across from Arrowhead. Chalk it up to yOUthful exuberance and still highly intoxicated at 8 am.
Could not possibly care less where GameDay goes ever. In my opinion it’s a clown show. Wish Herbie would ditch it. Put Finebaum in his place, he’d fit right in as head clown. I’m gettin grumpy in my old age.

Nothing grumpy about the TRUTH Slim. Herbstreit is the ONLY thing that is football about that Cartoon Network production. They can’t use Finebaum because he is sooooooooooo Gad-awful UGLY that they would have zero female viewers and the coeds in the crowd would sue the mouse network for visual harassment.

Everyone needs to remember these are COLLEGE football teams.. I remember going to gameday in 2005 when Arkansas hosted Tennessee, I showed up at 10am with more people than I expected there.. I was hungover from the night before, a buddy of mines gf played softball for the piggies, so we stayed in their dorm room and went to game day with some beer and started all over again.. Its for the college students to enjoy and get drunk on national television, what more could a college student ask for haha

As special as the tOSU @ OU game is, I wouldn’t be shocked if GameDay on Sept. 17 went to Bama @ Ole Miss. They love the SEC, so that game’s more important to ESPN, IMHO. It sucks, but that’s what we have to deal with.
That’s not happening. They’re not going to blow a chance to get coverage from across the nation for 2 top 10 programs to show an SEC game.
Of course Gameday skips a huge season opener in favor of an SEC game.
Exactly, no game day in Norman for the OSU game perhaps later for the OSU game.
