For the longest time this commitment seemed inevitable. But for some reason, 2017 LB Addision Gumbs (Heyward, CA) kept pushing his decision date back. It happened enough times that many started to think some of the other marquee schools that courted Gumbs were gaining ground. Even less than 24 hours ago word was expected to come down before yet another unanticipated delay.
When asked why he chose Oklahoma, Gumbs told TFB “I want to get to the next level, and I want to win championships.” And it’s clear with this commitment Gumbs believes Norman is the place he can do exactly that.
Whatever caused the previous delay/s (either then or now), Sooner Nation’s wait is now over.
Blessed to say I've committed to Oklahoma!! #SoonerSquad17 pic.twitter.com/FS0nAJoslY

Glad he is on board!! Where does that leave us w other LB recruits? Do we get Hines and Chaisson?
Depends on where they project Isaiah Thomas.
Thomas is a DE, by my understanding!
I think he will have to RS a year to add 30lbs. I want Chaisson. He helps get Marv.
Beating Texas, TCU, and Houston, and tOSU in the first 4 of 6 weeks into the season helps get Marv, but Chaisson certainly helps the cause! They can give those guys a RS year to add that weight!
Realistic chances of landing Marvin? Or pipe dream?
Mean if we run the table and get Chaisson on board I would say we greatly improve our chances, mean those thing certainly don’t hurt them. But we run that table and 5-0 in early Oct we start turning a lot of heads. At this point it is a dream but, one that is attainable. Mean call me over optimistic but hey it could happen!
I’m optimistic as well…never count the boys out!!
Realistic chances of landing Marvin? Or pipe dream?
Hines is an ILB and Hines is a def take IMO no matter what, Chaisson is listed as a DE, so was Gumbs, they can add weight to either one and make one a DE and the other a OLB both will probably gain some weight no matter what!
I have Gumbs as a OLB and Chaisson as a DE.
Either way they take Chaisson and Hines IMO!
Yup.
Seriously. Gotta keep remembering we’re talking 16-17 yr old kids who have a lot of natural growth yet. And then Mr Schmidt and Miss Tiff get them.

I cant believe the kind of impact Eric Striker has on our recruiting. OU had faith in an undersized DE/OLB and he had success. Now a lot of people are intrigued because they want to be utilized the way he was!

Chaisson at DE , Greg Rodgers , Marvin Wilson , Elijah Cunlife on the Dline. Draper and Hines at ILB and Gumbs at OLB. Would be a scary front 7.
I’m normally a sunshine pumper (check my posts to SD and Jeff), however, I am sadly convinced we will not be getting a DT again this cycle. The turnover at DT coaching has hurt us. We need BS or Cale and Cooks to get more involved at recruiting that position if they aren’t already.
The other positions coaches will get more involved during the season. Trust me once their done locking up their position they will head over to help the dline recruiting.
I’m trusting.
I believe that’s the gameplan as far dline recruiting. All OU needs is for Cunliffe , Rodgers , and Big Marv to take a official visit to OU , as it stands right now all three recruits will be visiting OU.
Hopefully Coach Thibs can use his Houston roots to help sway Wilson to the Sooner side.
All coaches are all involved on certain recruits.
Lighten up. Francis
Kish twitter game is legit haha

Dang!!!
Now this is OU: going after top talent and bringing it home.
Heading East?
He’s from California.
Houston is east of California.
everything except Hawaii is east of CA haha
LOL!
I was thinking about posting that tweet (in a joking way) to see if I could get people to start specualting like crazy.
And Alaska… 😉
I suppose he could go west but not on a train. 🙂
Brain fart for a second.
I hear that.
You must have great hearing, those are usually the silent type.
My hearing sucks – the body is slowly deteriorating.
OK. Fire Kish!! Er….wait… Kish is on fire!!!
<<fb. ★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★::::::!il960r:….,….
Bring’em to Norman coach. I think we better have TWO Sooner trains to go both East and West!
Pfffttttt….Fire Kish now! We’re not buying it Coach. Just cuz you’ve been overachieving of late don’t think that’s going to change anything. How does that sarcasm font work again?
He looks so much quicker than his competition. Great film!
I am concerned with the competition…
You can’t solve everything.
I know and it’s prolly nothing I mean look at where Ronnel Lewis came from but still something to consider
Great players are great players.
It’s California. The competition is always good.
not true lol
You’ve clearly never been to California.
There are a ton of different districts/leagues in Cali is all he is saying, I believe. Obviously, the competition varies from district to district depending on the size of school, area, etc. I live in Cali but don’t attend any high school football but i’m sure there are small towns/districts where the competition is so-so.
Simply stated Hayward is not LA or SD.
Then you should know schools near Hayward are not “so-so”.
He’s a stud whether he’s playing top flight talent or not. I guess Jon-Michael Terry played against powerhouses. No but they will both be great sooners.
He will be fine. Playing better talent helps, but Eufaula did not play 5A teams in the day, but the Selmons were pretty dang good.
‘Bout time!! Like waitin’ on an elephant to birth. BIG Ol’ BOOM!!! SoonerSquad17 gettin’ even more stacked!!!
hOUligan!!!!!!!!!
Yo Sam!!! As much fun as it is watching this class get bigger and stronger, just think how much fun it is going to be watching them grow and develop over the next 4-5 years. It’s almost like having a nephew you’re watching grow up.
I can’t wait. You’ve heard me say this before, I’m not afraid to say it again: when OU wins its next national championship, do not be surprised if they win multiple championships. I think that starts this year.
I SOOO hope you are right. Would love to see a dynasty type run over the next 5-6 years.
I’ll testify to being on this early! Now, the guys and the coaches just have to put in the time and effort to make it happen!
great news! welcome to the family! whos got the next ticket to board this train

You can say what you want, OU is the only program that’s having success recruiting coast to coast.
Alabama usc have both gone coast to coast quite a bit.
Who have they picked up? I must have missed it. And I mean consistently gone outside of their conference footprint.
Bama has Harris, Tua Tagovailoa and others, USC has Juwan Burgess along with 4 4star players from Florida Georgia and Pennsylvania form last year. I’m not saying ou isn’t kicking a** because they are, but their for sure not the only program going coast to coast
just look at the past recruiting years of Ohio State, Bama and USC to get an idea.
geez, crimson lenses…….nd has always successfully recruited nationally along with other major programs over the years
One of Notre Dame’s 17 current commitments is from Indiana and that is not unusual.
http://notredame.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Commits
To date the 2017 Alabama recruiting class has 21 recruits. Six are from Alabama and of the 15 out of state recruits 5 are from states not in the SEC. OU has 19 recruits, 5 from Oklahoma and 6 from non-Big 12 states.
http://oklahoma.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Commits
BOOM!!! Nice pick up…welcome to the family. This is just awesome! Talent, bringing da Talent!
BOOM! What a time to be alive! I can’t wait to see how Mike “You Know” Stoops utilizes his talents.
About BOOMING time, I like this get.
BOOM!! This kid reminds me of Travian Smith, from back a few years ago.
3 years down the road the fact that we could have Caleb Kelly, Mark Jackson, and Addison Gumbs getting after the QB at once is borderline unfair.
And Hines and Draper blitzing over the center.
And possibly Chaisson if he stays at LB.
TONS of incoming talent at the LB position. Love it.
That damn Kish just needs to get going with LB talent…OU can’t be lagging all the other schools…What is Stoops thinking….
….Opps – 2013 crawled back into this thread – “never mind.”
He’s giving his critics a taste of crow for sure.
If we bring in Chaisson and I hope we do we will have 3 players in the class thay r the same type player, Thomas, Gumbs, and Chais son r all that hybrid olb/dend.
Get them all in here and let them grow in to there spot
Just need to add Okudah to our killer B’s and Mr Rogers up front and we are talking one mean nasty D. Please make it so!!!!
I agree. I think Okudah (along with the other studs) makes it likely OU will have a #1 defense in the nation in a year or two.
We Sooner fans need to be excited about the improved recruiting results we are experiencing with the 2017 class. However to envision OU having the #1 defense in a year or two may be creating false expectations.
If you look at the 2016 &2017 classes using the 247Sports composite ranking which include the four services(247, Rivals, Scout and ESPN) OU has only 2 defensive players ranked in the top 100 nationally. Alabama has had 11 top 100 defensive players. OU has had 6 players ranked in the top 10 at their position while Bama has had 11.
We need to make the CFP again this year to maintain our recruiting momentum with consistent top 10 recruiting classes something we have not done since 2010.
2013-15 were not good recruiting classes for OU compared to other top programs. A look at various top programs shows a strong correlation between top recruiting classes and season end results.
The top 10 schools in average recruiting class rankings 2013-2015 were Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, FSU, Auburn, USC, Notre Dame, Clemson and OU. These schools in most year finish in the season final top ten with both Georgia and USC consistently not doing as well as their class rankings would suggest with OU doing better than the class ranking would suggest. Would that suggest the OU staff is doing a top flight job developing its talent?
Also the top 7 schools in the final rankings are also the same top 7 schools in 5* players signed during the period. Again suggesting the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s are the top variable to determining team success.
It appears the
#WeTooDeep
BIG BOOM!
#4 LB and #58 overall player according to Rivals.
Good write up here.
https://n.rivals.com/news/sooners-pull-four-star-from-calif-
Anybody have a list of where he is ranked, both overall and position-wise by the various sites?
National 167 on 247 composite. .9303 rating
National #58 on Rivals I believe.
Yes and #4 OLB
Scout says #120 overall, #7 OLB but #1 OLB in CA and in the West.
I was asking b/c ESPN isn’t as high on him, I don’t think. Was thinking the other sites had him ranked a little better.
ESPN isn’t high on him because he is high on the SOONERS! eSECpn is a joke.
Meh. I don’t buy that. I’m sure I can find plenty of Big 12 commits that are rated higher by ESPN than by other sites.
You would be hard pressed to do so. Seems like every recruit we get is higher on other sites that have their bread and butter being in recruiting than ESPN. I just think that they cast such a broad net with what they cover that they don’t put as much effort into recruiting.
ESPN has Sermon #79. Rivals #166.
ESPN has Reagor #74. Rivals doesn’t have him in their top 250?
ESPN has Draper #195. Rivals #244.
Pretty sure ESPN has Calcaterra rated higher too.
All I’m saying is that is the normal trend. You were able to name 3 maybe 4 where ESPN was higher than other sites of our now 19 commits. IDK which site has a better track record compared to others.
ESPN does have a bias against OU: Last year only one commentator said that OU should be in: Herbie.
It started with Bob laying the smack down about the weak bottom of the SEC conference and amplified with the beating of their gift horse Bama in New Orleans. The comeback at Tennessee probably didn’t put a great taste in their mouth either. I don’t think they are necessarily out to get OU as much as they don’t give them as much coverage due to their disdain for them. And as biased as ESPN is that is alright with me.
They certainly have a love affair for kids in the SEC area.
It was 3-4 of the first 5 or 6 I looked at. And I only looked at OU.
They have OU’s class lower than some other sites, so sure, somewhere on the OU list of commitments, there are going to be guys lower. I just don’t think it’s some conspiracy.
I don’t believe the cospiracy stuff either, but they will watch the recruits that Bama and LSU offer more since the SEC is such a cash cow for them.
I don’t even think that is true. What might be true is they watch kids from the south more, and those kids are going to SEC schools more often than not. That I would believe.
Then I guess we can find some common ground that there are areas in the US that they might not go over with a fine-toothed comb as compared to the south?
OU team ranking per recruiting media outlet:
Scout: 3rd
Rivals: 4th
247: 5th
ESPN: 7th
Just saying.
I just don’t think ESPN judges some of the Midwest kids they way others do. They don’t have that broad footprint of talent evaluation as other sites. Unless these kids are heavy into the national camp scene it seems that ESPN doesn’t view them as high. Could be wrong just my take.
That may be. I might even agree with that. What I don’t think is going on is some kind of conspiracy to make Big 12, or non-SEC teams, look worse in the recruiting game. I just don’t think that is happening directly. Indirectly given their location, and the hot bed of recruiting in the south? Possibly. But let’s keep in mind, both ESPN and Rivals have Bama, LSU, and Ohio State as the top 3 classes as of now.
I’m not of the group thinking there is a conspiracy. But, they will tend cover the SEC news more since they are directly related with them.
They give more coverage and promote some schools over others throughout the year, whether you want to call that a conspiracy, simple bias, or pimping their TV product is everyone’s choice. To me, that was fairly obvious as we got closer to the CFP last year.
Agree. Facts are facts.
Have no problem with those top 3 but having Georgia ahead of us right now in the ESPN rankings is kind of strange. This may have been a ranking before Gumbs but still. All in all star rankings are great and they do mean something because more talent breeds more depth and competition but until they get here and show their worth it’s all speculation. I do think the kids OU is getting right now are very talented and are fitting the offensive defensive systems OU is running more so than in the past. This is what is making this one of Bob’s better classes if it all stays intact.
I’ve been thinking the same thing about ESPN’s recruiting coverage across the U.S.
Yes ! ! ! !
Oscar!! We havin’ some fun, again.
BOOM!!! Welcome aboard Mr Gumbs.
BOOM!!!
Love me some Denzel!

They’re crimson, too. Awesome.
Joe Mixon 5* Jordan Parker 4* Caleb Kelly 5* Grant Calceterra 4* Cameron Rising 4* Addison Gumbs 4*. California, the State that keeps on giving.
Youngquist had he been able to make it
Rising should be a 5*
I know Kenny Stills and Brennan Clay were 4 stars but was Tony Jefferson the number 1 recruit in Cali that year?
I believe so.. I think he was 1 and clay was like 3
no. i think he came in the same year as ronald powell went to florida and robert woods went to usc.
Love that Cali pipeline.
Curtis Bolton is a Cali kid also, just sayin’.

Nice. I especially like the old school Jim Thorpe skull cap he’s wearing in his photo.
Boom! Welcome aboard young man!
Per the 247Composite, there are currently 21 4* commits in the Big XII now with 13 of them committed to OU. OU is currently out-recruiting the entire rest of the Big XII combined for elite talent.
I have never been in the ‘leave the Big XII’ camp but if this continues it will have to happen.
BAhaha that’s right. TCU and Texas nos. 57-58!
And Bailor non existent.
Whole program should be in chains. And the lying sociopath former coach needs to go away.
Shouldn’t it be called Bailer with all the de-commits?
Iowa State, Tech and WV are all ahead of TCU and Texas in the Rival Team Rankings. LOL
I know it’s all fun ‘n’ stuff right now, but you know whorn is going to pour it on at the end. As long as we keep chugging along, they’ll still likely come in after us, but they’ll be a solid #2.
In fact, a #2 is exactly what I think of when I think of whorn. I may even change what I say. “Hey, be right back; gotta take a whorn.” LOL
Don’t be surprised if Strong pulls something like last year and has several top kids that know they are going to Texas hold off committing early waiting instead until February to publicly announce their choice.
This league is dying, need to be proactive not reactive this time around
That boy has a knack for getting after that qb
Stupid work! I wait till two, then get back and BOOM. A great boom, but after being on boom watch half of last night and all of today, I hate missing the “moment.”
But, hey Mr. Gumbs, WELCOME to the Sooner nation. From the young guys in SS17 to we old alums, it’s great to have yOU on board!

Well his team beat california school for the deaf 52-0. Probably dosent face a lot of d1 athletes in that division.
Thank god for things like the opening, where we can see what kids from different levels of competition can do against each other.
his competition was/is awful to be honest.

The “Fire Kish” comments seem to have evaporated, I wonder why?
Fire Kish!!!
I spoke too soon 🙂
Next TFB T Shirt.
Kish of death
Kire Fish!
A 2013 moment of “fire Kish” happened down below to poor SoonerfanTU – it was a crack in space-time, but it was repaired.
it’s a syndrome that impacted many, however it seems the recruitment of one 5* and several 4* linebackers have cured all
You can Kish his Arsh goodbye!
Fire Kish 🙂
I admit that I was getting close to that point…even with Mike. They deserved a chance to get their own style of LB in, but for the first year or so, it seemed that other coaches, like Monty, were doing the big recruiting. No excuses now, as all of the coaches I think have their own players in, except maybe Thibs.
I was so frustrated at Bob for hanging on to the old group of coaches too long. Our recruiting was down and the morale of the team had gone to crap. Luckily, he makes the coaching changes and the rest is history. I am anxious to see some of the new guys play this year, on both sides of the ball. The 17 class appears to be loaded.
when did gumbs visit ou?……..more than once?
April
Huge get…..can we please retire the “fire Kidh” sarcasm comments we get it.
Agree. The guy does a damn good job.
Have always been a Kish fan. Excellent coach and seems like a really nice guy.
Agree again. Good kids keeping coming in. They know who they’re coach is going to be, so I have to believe he’s connecting with them on some positive level. Plus I don’t think Bob is going to keep him on staff if he isn’t doing the job and doing it well.
The players have always loved him and have openly given him credit for making them better players. Fans were always giving him the business because he wasn’t a superstar recruiter like Coach Mont. And look who is still coaching ’em up in Norman.
OU fans unfortunately seek scapegoats when results don’t their expectations for whatever reason. They fail to look for the real causes of the failure to meet expectation then they contrive solutions to satisfy their emotional needs instead to meet team needs.
Fortunately for the fans Stoops & staff make more pragmatic assessments of needs and implement realistic actions to meet the team goals that encompass more than a MNC being the lone benchmark for success.
The man simply gets it done on all levels.

“Coach (Tim) Kish (LB coach) was my main recruiter and we talk all the time,” Gumbs said. “I also talk with both Stoops brothers, Bob and Mike and they’re great as well. The whole staff was very welcoming to me and all the players were very open and honest as well.”
In watching his film, this kid made a tone of tackles with his hands, they must be meat hooks. Looks incredibly strong to me and will only get stronger… got a feeling this guy will prove to be special.
Not sure you’ve seen some of my posts but his father is a HS coach. I’m sure that doesn’t hurt matters any so I’m looking forward to what the coaches told him to work on this year. Would love to see him around 230/235 this time next year.
Of course, nothing against Mr. Striker, ever, but really glad to see the end of the BV LB’s. Looking forward to a stable full of 240-250 lb. guys. Especially guys like this who have the length and athleticism.
Also, they make the throwing lanes for the QB really tuff on the short routes.

My wife is going to grad school at OSU. She asked me how her orange colored OSU tee shirt looked and I said “nothing good comes in orange”. Yeah, I’ll be sleeping on the couch for a while….sigh.
I’d be kicking her to the couch. No orange in my house.
My wife knows not to have any orange around. She even mentioned to a friend that orange is a bad word unless you eat it.
My son was at a camp and they gave out orange shirts with camp name. When he got home, he knew as I watched him put it in the goodwill bag. Nothing orange in this house. I have a blue tooth speaker that has some orange on it and I took a sharpie to it. Funny, he is Texas born but knows who the good guys are.

What baker mayfield has been to this program is almost Bradford like. The kid has transformed our program along with the coaching changes. It’s crazy what a hip surgery, new coaches and a Heisman caliber QB would do for coach Stoops. The man adapted and didn’t die. The recruiting has been on fire and this class will go down as the best OU class under stoops come February. I’m going to laugh when teams have to face these big azz hosses we will have on the defensive side of the ball in a few years. I know I sound like a broken record saying these things, I just can’t help it. I love it. To think our entire team besides Ahmad could potentially return is just mind boggling to me ?. Hopefully it’s to repeat ??. Anyways, have a good night brainiacs.

Nice, he will be an early enrollee. He said he would like to do some recruiting but the class is almost full. We still have a few spots available Mr Gumbs, recruit away.
Very good read. Now Gumbs go recruit your West Coast brothers Joesph Lewis and Greg Rodgers.

A little late to the party here, been finishing up my last day at my old job.
Glad to see SS17 add another big time defender.

Thought this might be interesting to some. I put the rankings of each of the four major ranking system for each of the players.
A couple observations:
1) All but four players have a 4* ranking by at least one site.
2) One of the 3* is a punter and is the #1 at his position
3) One of the 3* is a JUCO RB and is #1 JUCO at his position
I think it’s crappy that the number one punter is only a three star. It shows how little they value them but if you have a great punter or kicker they will win the game for you. Being able to flip
The field with a huge punt makes all the difference in the world.
Yep. That’s why you have to have a little understanding of the ratings. That’s the general problem with the rankings, they don’t take things like that into account. The 3* punter brings down your average stars and yet he is the best player at his position.
I wonder how Ewe wOUld rank him?
I think the best player at their position should get a 5 star rating. They should rate by position as well as overall.
But, we know kickers aren’t real foosball players!! ////s
I think it’s pretty fair. He may be #1 but he’s only specializes in 1 thing. 5 star & 4 star players have to be good at their position and everything it entails. If he’s the #1 punter and kicker, sure give him a 4th star.
I always thought the star ranking was how they project to the NFL. So predicting a kicker/punter to the NFL is just too dicey to make anything more than a 3 star projection
That’s not it. From what I read the star breakdown is something along this line;
5 – Elite, can come into any program at any level and contribute immediately
4- D1 prospect, room for improvement but will compete for starting roll
3 – solid player, usually lacks elite speed, size, or other intangibles. Lack on consistency
2 – D2 prospect
1 – run of the mill high school athlete
Thanks. The ESPN version is probably what I had in my head.

Austin Siebert was the number 1 kicker and the number 2 punter in the country as a recruit and was a three star.
And what did you find?
Refresh to see the image?
Can you help me in my statistics class!!/s/s
Maths is hard.
We’ve done so well recruiting linebackers now that we play at least 3 at once and sometimes four. Even if we hit on half of these linebacker recruits we should have an absolutely devastating linebacker group.
Wonder how this will affect the recruitment of K’Lavon Chaisson. If K’Lavon chooses to come to OU, it might help with the descision of Marvin Wilson. It would be exciting to see Addison and K’Lavon together on the outside.
You might convince one to be a DE
Chaisson is a DE. OU runs a 3-4 and 3-3-5.
K’Lavon would be a filthy jack Lb for us. 3/4 ends need to be 280 plus. I don’t get why y’all don’t understand this lol. I was just over on the Texas OP and they think Chaisson is theirs since we just got Gumbs.
LOL thats pretty funny. Texsa was 10th on his list and that was in order.
You haven’t followed him much recently, have you? He has visited there twice (I think, at least once). And is desperate for UT followers.
OU is still in the lead for him.
OU is still the favorite for him. I have seen him post multiple pictures wearing LSU gear. According to his twitter they seem like a bigger threat than Texsa. You are right he has visited at least once. Not seeing any begging though.
What is up with “Texsa”? It makes me think you guys have some secret code for “Texas San Antonio”…I wonder why recruits from the lone star state don’t find it interesting that some people that are Oklahoma fans can’t spell Texas properly.
UT invented it. They spelled Texsa on every press pamphlet going OUt to recruits. Google or Bing it. There was a national story abOUt it.
I think OU is still recruiting Chaisson. I see Isaiah Thomas playing the DE spot once he puts on more weight. Gumbs can play multiple positions and was told by the OU coaches that they plan on playing at all the Linebacker positions. So for a conclusion Chaisson still has a spot saved for himself.
Maybe Chaisson goes to LSU. After the last two years under Charlie, I don’t get too worked up on recruiting in August. Texas has 7 recruits committed right now, but this time there is not any panicking going on from the fan base or donors. At the end of the day I just want them to land Dylan Moses. I know Charlie will get a few others, but I don’t car too much about who right now.
You might convince one to be a DE
Believe Gumbs was higher on their board?
In the Addison Gumbs interview he talked about how OU plans on playing him at OLB and ILB. Chaisson would play the Striker position while Gumbs would play the OLB position.
I’m curious where we are at on schollys now. Obviously how many we can take depends on who leaves early but I’m curious how many more they are willing to take.
Well one more scholarship opened up with the Garnett transfer.
It might get pretty complicated. I can see Wren and Bassquin (sp) earning schollies.
Wren is a senior so he won’t have any effect on the class.
Wren is a senior so that wouldn’t affect 17
That was my thought too. Does he have another year of eligibility or something?
The number passed around is 25-26. There are 19 commits so that leaves six or seven. If Wren ends up starting at center and Basquine ends up being a contributor they might reserve a couple for them, so you could be looking at as little as four or five plus any early exits.
Does that include the Garnett transfer?
Not sure, probably not.
I though Wren was a senior this year.
You are right so they can still give him one and it be available for 17
I could see them taking 29 easily.
3 spots left, not counting transfers/early NFL entrants.
We will make more spots faster than the gubment prints money. 🙂
I could see 2-5 leaving early for the draft. Then there’s always attrition between December and July.
for a second there I thought it was Eric Striker !
His first step is every bit as good, but he’s got the frame to pack on 20 pounds without losing a step. He has the potential to hold better agains the run.
Yea !
That’s said, he’s extremely raw. He’s gonna need to work on his technique this year.
that’s the trouble with being so quick in high school .
The lineman blinks and your sacking the qb . no chance to work on your technique 🙂
with limited scholarships left , for linebackers esp. , I’m guessing we might see another boom or two pretty quickly . Save your spot before its gone 🙂
Just dropped by the Texas OP and it’s got a whopping 40 comments, including mine :). What a shame. TFB works so hard and the love the receive is non existent. Oh well. Boomer!
Well, that answers the question, “what smells like ? in here?”
I visited there once. I had to bathe in tomato juice twice to get rid of the stench!
I’m laughing pretty hard right now!
Everyone loves a winner. Fortunately, Texas ain’t it.
Off topic but the USA women just went gold, silver, bronze in the 100 hurdles. First time ever for a sweep in that event. Merica!
I know, that was pretty cool!
Broom Hilda’s!!! 🙂
your opinion(s) as to who’s next?
Chaisson and Hines are next IMO. Okudah after the Ohio St game. OU recruiting will get very interesting during the season.
Scott, I already told you, Texsa is landing Chaisson since we got Gumbs. ?
LOL
Don’t they play different positions?
They both can play the Jack spot or put their hand in the dirt and play DE at 6’4 240 for us ?. Ummmmmmm no, they are both pass rushing specialist at the OLB spot lol. If I hear OU is recruiting Chaisson at DE Ima Go crazy. We need big bodies on the Dline. Oh and Ray, sorry if you were being facetious:)
He’s listed as a DE in all his film, really thought that’s what we were recruiting him as. I’ll let the coaches decide where to play him, I could see it going either way.
He’s listed as a end but I don’t see it in a traditional 3/4 or even 3-3-5. He’s so lean and athletic to where I just see him terrorizing people even more so than striker. Chaisson could put on 15-20 lbs and not lose any speed. That’s my vision for him. I want Bledsoe type defensive ends who are run stuffing machines with athletic freaks like Jackson, Obo, Chaisson and Gumbs flying off the edge. But yes, I could see it going either way!
Agree. Our front 3 all have to be 290 and up.
Without a doubt. Then with the size and speed of the backers we’ve got committed? Pfffft.
He will play either the Sam or Jack position and if he grows more, he will play DE. Several options and all get after the QB.
Well i just did some lurkering on twitter and found that Mr Chaisson liked a tweet that a OU fan sent to CD. It mentioned Chaisson and Big Marv teaming up at OU to win some nattys.
I just thought that said Joseph Lewis and I blacked out for a second.
lol
I don’t understand why people think he is coming here…just because you visit doesn’t mean anything. I have seen nothing showing him anything more than slightly interest in OU (just me, though).
I never once said I think he’s coming here? Hop off me Jdizzle.

If you are a believer in twitter, it may be Moore of the ’18 class.
That dude is ours and has been ours lol
I agree, you have to think Moore is ours after seeing whats been on Twitter.
Hines, or Browning to finish up LBs, one of the couple True OT where after, if we beat Texas we get Marvin, but Rogers is coming regardless. Beat theOSU we get Okudah, and the feather in the cap is Omar Manning.
K, where you at? You have been all over this Gumbs kid for a year now! You kept saying if we kept on recruiting him he’d be ours to lose and I don’t think any of us really bought that stock until late into the process, Congrats on the great work with him!
That first step is pretty. And he’s good at shedding off blockers when needed. Definitely a lot of talent
He explodes off the edge kinda “strikerish”. I definitely like way he can diagnosis the play and come down hill, and stop the runner in his tracts!
“Strikerish” and he’s 6’4.. Unreal.
Yeah baby!!!!

Coach T retweeted and Coach Hill liked the tweet.
If the sand ladies had played like this last night, they could have went for gold.

OUr boys.
Here’s to hoping OUr team gives a whole new meaning to the ” Houston touchdown club”. 🙂
Jordan Moore and Big Marv liked the tweet. hmmmmm

Guess this is what the Oline looks like right now
LT – Brown/ Swenson
LG – Ford / Alvarez or Julious
C – Wren/ Alvarez
RG – Dalton/ Powers
RT – Samia/ Evans
Samia could even end up at RG, so many possible combinations. Options are good and what coach B has in mind when he recruits.
Pretty sure Orso-Bacchus is backing up Brown.
Boom!!! Welcome to the Sooner family Addison! Great pick up for us.

That is a nice BOOM!!!!!!!!!!————-
Its 4:15 am and texsa SUCKS, BOOMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOONER!!!!!!!!!!!
WTF, I am sick of these 4 star possible 5 star guys, where are the 1’s and 2′ that made us famous..And this Kish guy I thought we were thru with him……
HMMM. and yet we question Bob Stoops and this thinking process. OU puts together another run like last year and Oklahoma could be more dangerous than ever imagined in years to come.
I wonder how many of these recruits are due in part to the “personality” guys we had on this team. Striker, Sanchez, and Baker kept OU in national headlines regardless of game outcomes. Add in the nation’s love affair with the cool calm destroyer that is Perine, and think it adds a level of flash that OU had been missing since probably 2008 honestly.
