– Greg Rogers: In case you missed it over the weekend, 2017 defensive lineman Greg Rogers (Las Vegas, NV) released his Top 5 schools/official visits.
https://twitter.com/CityBoyGreg/status/762109577076674560
Since our first interaction with Rogers, USC has seemed like the school to beat. And in a related note, in terms of OU’s DT recruiting, Texas has put themselves in very strong positon with five-star prospect Marvin Wilson. In fact after speaking to a source over the weekend regarding Wilson, it sounds to me (K) more and more like if Texas shows some improvement on the field in 2016 the Horns will be pretty tough to be in terms of Wilson’s commitment.
OU is still in the hunt for both, but obviously this visit from Rogers for the Ohio State game is going to be critical. Fortunately, the Sooners couldn’t ask for a better game/weekend to host the big man. – (Super K)
– Elijah Conliffe: Another 2017 defensive lineman to keep an eye on is Elijah Conliffe (Hampton, VA), who also holds an OU offer. TFB spoke with a friend close to the Alabama program who told said Conliffe camped in Tuscaloosa and thoroughly impressed the staff on his way to earning from the Tide.
The OU coaches have been recruiting Conliffe for a while now, and while he’s yet to settle on an exact date Conliffe tells TFB he does plan to use one of his official visits to see Oklahoma later this fall. – (Super K)
– K’Lavon Chaisson: This past weekend, 2017 OLB/DE & OU offer K’Lavon Chaisson visited Texas. Chaisson doesn’t speak to the media much, but TFB was able to catch up with someone close to him regarding his trip to Austin.
From what we were told, these other visits have been more about Chaisson doing his due diligence on other schools before announcing his decision. In fact the source I (K) spoke to said the visits had more to do with his family wanting to ensure that before Chaisson commits that he’s ‘checked everything out.’
It’s obviously tough to know for sure, but I still get the sense the Sooners lead here. – (Super K)
– Team Note | More On Neville Gallimore: Last week we mentioned the redshirt freshman defensive lineman as someone we’d been told was standing out in these first couple practices. And after speaking to a couple additional sources, we continue to hear good things with regards to Gallimore’s play.
According to what TFB has been told, Gallimore is playing at multiple positions along the line. In the spring, we saw him some at DE/DT but don’t be surprised to see him at nose guard on occasion as well.
Even early on it’s clear Gallimore had a tremendous summer, and that all the hard work he put in is paying off. The biggest thing we’ve been told is that he still needs to work on disengaging with his hands/finding a secondary move once an offensive lineman latches on to him. But again, we’ve been told the expectation is he will likely play quite a bit this year up and down the line. – (Super K)
– Team Note | Linebackers: Was told the group of Caleb Kelly, Jon Michael Terry, Mark Jackson and Kapri Doucet are among some of the more athletic linebackers the Sooners have had in quite a while.
While Kelly is the only one of the new LBs that is running with the first team — at the SAM when the defense isn’t in nickel — it’s pretty clear the coaches are excited about what these guys bring to the table in terms of their athleticism and overall talent. – (Super K)
– Team Note | ‘Obo’ Putting it Together: Ricky DeBerry and Mark Jackson are currently running behind Ogbonnia Okoronkwo at the ‘Jack’ LB position. TFB asked a source if either DeBerry and/or Jackson had a chance of dethroning ‘Obo’ and was told the redshirt junior is really starting to take that next step the coaches have been hoping for.
Okoronkwo has always been something of a physical specimen, but there have been some issues in the past with respect to his ability to be consistent and assignment sound. According to our source, however, things sound encouraging in terms of the early reviews. It sounds like ‘Obo’ is “locked in” and impressing early in fall camp, being more focused and consistent. – (Super K)
– Team Note | Offensive Line: We also mentioned last week that Ben Powers had struggled some at the starting RG spot, and that Oklahoma has been looking at both Bobby Evans and Quinn Mittermier at RT. Which is something we will continue to keep an eye on/ask about, because we get the strong sense the possibility of having Evans at RT and sliding Dru Samia inside to RG is where things feel they are headed.
Don’t get the sense anything has been decided as of right now, but one would assume a decision would need to be made relatively quickly. Mostly because the staff will want that first team unit to have a chance to gel as they continue to prep for the opener against Houston.
Another thing to keep in mind is something we’ve mentioned here before when talking about defensive pressure. On the offensive line, pressure on the edges is bad (duh) but pressure up the middle is even worse. Pressue up the middle is far more disruptive and can blow up both the pass and run game. So if Powers can handle things, or Alex Dalton can put a cast on his hand and get out there, then it could allow Samia to stay at RT. But if the coaches aren’t confident in either of those options, they may have no choice but to move Samia inside. – (Super K)
– Team Note | Cornerbacks: More of the same with the CBs since our last update, Dakota Austin continues to run with the first team along with Jordan Thomas. TFB has been told Austin is having a ‘solid camp.’ Maybe not anything that will ‘wow’ you necessarily, but showing the consistency OU’s coaches expect is what we were told.
Behind Austin is PJ Mbanasor, and the sense we get there is something of a “to be the man, you’ve gotta beat the man” (if we can channel our inner Ric Flair) type situation. In other words, “consistency” on Mbanasor’s part probably won’t be enough to dethrone the senior.
Behind Thomas, meanwhile, is Michiah Quick, who we’re told is steadily getting better after what was apparently a pretty rough first day (which shouldn’t surprise anyone).
I think the best thing I’m hearing from folks I talk to about the cornerbacks is that they’re building a legit two-deep. The past couple years it has felt like the Sooners were just one injury away from being in big trouble at the CB spot. But with Mbanasor and Quick, along with the other freshmen, it sounds like Kerry Cooks is building some depth in the secondary. – (Super K)

First!!!
Excellent OP guys.
Always the best info, always appreciated.
Thanks for all the great notes. Great to hear how well a lot of the young guys are doing. Excited for a lot of them and ready to see them hit the field
BOOMER and thanks for the early morning OP fellas!
So when we go to a 3-4 Caleb is at the Sam? Who is the other LB at the Sam that Caleb in competing with?
I believe it’s Kapri. Was also told that Jon Michael can play pretty much any of the LB positions. OU plays boundary/field OLB against 11 personnel or bigger so your field OLB needs to be a bit more athletic…like Kelly or Doucet
So in other words Kelly is playing the same position Bond(SAM) played last year while Striker played the Jack position? Sorry if this is a dumb question lol
Can’t wait to see JM Terry. A poster a long time ago said they played against him in AAU basketball and said he was unstoppable. Quick and fast and had hops. That’s exciting.
Obviously not much basketball skill, but the best athlete I’ve played with/against, which isn’t a knock on DE/OLB Isaiah Thomas
Thanks for putting clarity to this
When Bond came in, he played to the boundary. Striker was the “SAM”.
Thanks for clearing this up as I thought the opposite.
Awesome. So that means Kelly is going to play a lot this year if things go as planned. AKA he will be the Striker of last year. I think its good in a way since from what I’ve heard Kelly is a far better Cover guy.
I’m assuming if the opposing O gets in any formation with a TE/FB.. 01/02/11/12 etc Kelly is SAM .. field side while Obo goes to the boundary.
But,
In any formation without FB/TE 00/10/20 etc.. Kelly is off.. Will Johnson is in as SAM over slot and Obo goes back to field side..
When Obo is in alone they’ll move him around if they play him like Striker. When Will Johnson is in he will play to the field typically because that’s where the inside WR will typically be aligned.
So OU would switch from a 3-4 to a 3-3-5 during mid game when Will Johnson subbed in for Devante Bond?
Yes. Just depends on the personnel they are facing.
Interesting about Kelly from the Elite 11 last year. His speed was 4.7 in a straight line but football speed, he was off the charts. He had a pic 6 and another interception. He was smooth.
Good stuff! If our lines can come together and have some strong depth, we can really dominate this year. That is the only way Clemson beat us.
I can’t wait for some SOONER FOOTBALL!
OFFENSE:
QB = Heisman Trophy Candidate (Mayfield)! Kendall would be a
pretty good backup (Not to slam Knight, but anything would be better than the
way he played in the TCU game last year).
RBs = One of the best Tandems in the Nation (Perine &
Mixon) plus quality depth (Anderson & Brooks).
FB = A very versatile and talented guy (Flowers) who Riley
used more as the season progressed last year.
O-Line = improved from last year (with the Frosh OTs of last
year (Brown & Samia) now Sophomores and a stronger more athletic group of
dudes to choose from on the interior (including Alvarez, Ford and Dalton) plus
I think one or two of the JUCO guys (Powers, Juilous, Wren or Danley) will step
up. Throw in some OT depth with Bobby
Evans plus Danlier (once he healthy) and I think the o-line is going to be better
than last season.
WRs = the loss of Sterling will hurt, but might force Baker to spread it around more
(advantageous as it doesn’t allow the opposing D to key in on one WR). I like
Andrews, Westbrook, Geno Lewis and Baxter. Plus I expect some of the youngsters
to step up (Like Miller and Green). Who knows, maybe we will be pleasantly surprised
by a guy like Mead or Smallwood breaking out this season!
DEFENSE:
D-Line = Looks really strong with a stud in Walker and solid/experienced
guys like Romar, Dimon and maybe even Wade steps up. I like the group of young,
but very talented guys like Gallimore, Overton, and Lampkin. Also, I like the
depth a guy like Roberts gives as well.
LBs = Besides Jordan Evans, they are inexperienced, but talented.
I like Tay Evans and Obo and expect them to step up this year. Tay seems like
he could be the run-stuffer LB we need while Obo could be the edge-rusher LB we
need. While I always like how Dom Alexander was pretty consistent in being in
the whole to meet the RB (and he was a pretty consistent tackler as well), but
I never saw him really hit a guy hard (kind of seemed like he was always absorbing
the RBs blow). I think Tay might be a punisher type LB (he’s got the size for
it). It will be a big challenge for Obo to replace Striker, but I think Obo
will be a quality OLB. Also, I like the potential of guys like Kelly, DeBerry, Jackson
and Terry. Not to mention, a JUCO guy that could step up (Doucet).
NB – I really like Will Johnson. I thought he played really
well last year. Also, Sylvie is a very talented young back up.
CB = Jordan Thomas is a stud; I believe Austin and Mbanasor
are both capable starters. Plus OU has some young/green/ hungry CBs to add
depth (Quick, Stephens, Motley and Parker)
S = Get back both Starters (Parker & Ahmad Thomas) plus depth
should be more ready, if needed. I like the young guys (Haughton, McKinney and
Sunderland)
SPECIAL TEAMS:
K/P = we have a good one (Siebert) who does both pretty well
LS = one of the best in the Nation (Horky)! Seems like a
little thing, but it can make a huge difference in a game.
KR = Alex Ross is gone, but he did little last season. I’d
like to see a guy like Brooks or Adams although KR doesn’t matter as much to me
as a PR since a ton of kickoff are touchbacks anyway.
PR = Have the talent if only the Coaching Staff will not
play such caution. I like Brooks, Baxter, Quick or maybe even Mykel Jones (if
he doesn’t get redshirted). Gosh I’m tired of seeing fair catches when the
coverage team is still 10 yards away!
CONCLUSION:
The offense should get a bump in production simply from the
experience of running the Riley’s version of the Air Raid. The defense looks
good with the only glaring weakness being the inexperience of the linebackers,
but I think there is talent there and as fall camp unfolds we will see the
ability of these younger LBs.
All in all, I think our beloved Sooners are going to be pretty
good this upcoming season. I can’t wait to see some SOONER FOOTBALL!!!!!
I think people will be surprised how good this WR group is. Alot people are sleeping on them.
Mayfield has the ability to make an average WR looks really good too.
I predict Mykel Jones & Geno Lewis will turn a lot of heads before this season is over. It won’t just be the Westbrook show.
I would add A.D Miller to that group. I think all the WR’s will get plenty of catches this year.
Should have a great chance to make the playoff. Injuries or Mike Stoops playing prevent defense for a whole game are the biggest obstacles.
I’m usually not critical but I have to agree with the comment on Mike. I would like to see an attacking defense.
Sam, I hated that matador defense against Baylor in ’14, but in MS defense, he now has much better players with which to attack.
If he doesn’t attack more this year, I’ll complain too.
As our friend EasTex would say, “Attack! Attack!”
Thanks for the notes! Another fine OP – Gallimore being versatile enough to play all three middle spots in the 3-4 is great. Walker and Gallimore on either side or even having him at the nose slipping between a double – a nice image.
RIP all Big12 offensive lineman.
As always, great information. Your consistency is appreciated.
Actual football notes. It is a wonderful time of the year.
Exactly Oracle! I like the reports a lot. I like the info KJ provides on the side. I just wish we had a little “open practice” to get a look at some players – on this I think Bob is a little too paranoid.
Me too. I really like to see it with my own eyes before believing any hype or predictions on players.
Nah man. You can take it to the bank. Either Gallimore or Kelly will be the Defensive Freshman of the year for the conference.
I like your confidence and would be extremely happy if this were the case. But most of the fun in CFB is watching it all unfold. Expect the unexpected and enjoy the process.
I’m just trying to be overly optimistic. I tend to have the motto “Set the bar low, and you are always going to overachieve.”
🙂 It is always that way over at 247. Too many years of that site jaundiced my optimism years ago. But it is always fun to imagine how great the team can be.
I had to edit my comment that you responded to.
I love what im hearing. TFB i gotta question for you guys , do you guys expect OU to go offer some more Dline guys soon?
I would. I think you wait and see how Texas is doing because I really believe that will tell you all you need to know regarding Marvin Wilson. But at the very least I’d be re-opening communication with some of my back up plans and looking at potential JUCO guys. It’s tough because its a bad year for DL
If Texas is somewhat successful, but plays 3 of their freshman DLs, would that have any impact on Marv?
Not sure tbh. He is a smart kid that would likely take that into account but based on what we’ve heard on early practices at Texas…a couple freshmen will be in the rotation but the older guys will be the guys.
Ok thank you. I still believe OU has a good shot at getting Greg Rodgers and Elijah Conliffe , we just need to get them on campus.
I agree. This is a big country, there has to other quality DT talent somewhere. I mean, is there a DT in Oklahoma, who has good upside?
Super K, where are things with Watts?
Yea, wondering the same thing! Can we get an update on Watts? Thanks.
I see you’re in Ohio.
Dayton. My wife (and everyone else obviously) is a huge Ohio State fan. We are going to the game. Need us to win!
I’m in Akron.
Same here: my whole family are Ohio State fans. Max, my son, and I are going to the game in Norman this year and we’ll be down next year when they are in Columbus.
How did you come to enlightenment?
mixed marriage are never good. sorry.
Sooners kind of backed off him after his visit. Think they weren’t certain he was as big as they wanted.
Very encouraging! Thanks for the hard work.
Encouraging news on most fronts. Wish the Oline was shored up and everyone was set.
Yeah, that was the only worrisome note in the OP. Since we did pretty well last year with a RS Frosh and a true Frosh, hopefully someone will step up at both RG and RT to help Samia – he’s good, but it’s pretty tough playing TWO positions at the same time 🙂
Ok, so we have Obo, Dewberry and Jackson at the jack posisition. Who will we have behind Kelly at the SAM position when we aren’t in the nickel??
I think its Doucet
I thought of him, but is there not another person? I’m drawing a blank for some reaon.
Not sure if Arthur McGinnis would be that guy or maybe with Terry playing multiple LB positions that he might be part of the SAM depth.
He (K) said it was Kapri Doucet. Lol great minds think alike. I asked him earlier haha
I just saw that. I need to start checking the thread before I post stuff. Lol
No biggie. LOL I do it all the time haha
Hey Mikey! This time of the year, do NOT let your hair grow – we need all the good barbershop info we can get! 🙂
Hey Mikey, heard anything from the barbershop? With Rising’s commitment, I’m sure the Thompsons have thoughts on it.
Couldn’t be sure what position he said Doucet and Terry. I thought they were ILBs
Love these early OP’s. Thanks guys!
I think the Disqus IT people got fired and then hired over at Delta Airlines. Just a hunch…
🙂 – I would have thought the Delta IT came straight out of government, but it is close to impossible to get fired by the government.
DE: Dimon/Romar
DT: Walker/Galimore
DE: Wade/Galimore
OLB: Kelly
ILB: Evans
LB: OBO
OLB: Tay Evans
Nickle : Take out Evans and put in Johnson
CB: Thomas
CB: Austin
S: Parker
S; Thomas
That’s how I see it happening. I’d like to see Mark Jackson occasionally as well as Quick and Mbanasar
+ Q, dimon, DJ, Wade, lampkin.. rotating on Dline..
Depth baby..
Austin Roberts as well. They are all going to rotate. So many, don’t forget about Bledsoe as well. He should get some PT, with all the buzz about him
No, don’t think so. it’s dimon/galimore at DE, romar/wade/overton at NT/NG and Walker/Ward/Rodriquez
At ILBs it’s Evan and Evans. At OLBs it Obo/Jackson/Deberry and at the other Kelly. With Johnson in you take Kelly out.
https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/762663505115832320
I think I saw the sled quiver a little when Optimus 32’s turn came up….
Jeepers. I don’t know how anybody has the courage to take him on.
Any news on Bledsoe? Kid gained all that weight in the off season and was just wondering how he’s handling the big boy practices so far?
Havent asked but I can do that for you
If you don’t mind, K. I know you’re high on Bledsoe, as am I.
Also how is Kyler Murray doing? Is he going to be running scout team and helping us game plan for GWjr and JT Barrett?
Heard Kyler looks very good. And yes I’d assume so
Hopefully with our defense having to face him in practice that it will give our backers a sense of Barrett’s and GWjrs athleticism.
I read somewhere that a position switch might be in consideration for Murray since OU has all of these QB’s coming in. Any fire to this smoke? Again, I can’t remember where I had read it, but it very well could have been two fans conversing on Twitter and were just having fun with the topic.
They will at least let him battle between Kendall and Robison before making him switch. If baker stays next year then who knows what will happen.
I just don’t know what position he would switch to. Inside WR?
That, or he goes the baseball route.
That seems like the most likely landing spot, if a switch is indeed necessary. Also, I could see him being a dangerous KR/PR. We’re sort of in the same situation with Jerrod Heard. He’s way too dangerous of an athlete to let sit on the bench, but he’s just not the passing threat that the team really needs.
What is the talk about what you guys will do with Heard?
There was a bunch of talk about him moving to the slot this summer after the emergence of Buechele in the spring, especially after pictures of him wearing receiver’s gloves emerged. However, those rumors cooled when Duvernay signed, and it’s also been discovered that the gloves are for passing, a la Teddy Bridgewater. So for now he’s the QB 3. We’ll see how things work out.
Makes sense; you guys got a really good one in Duvernay. Does seem like a talent waste to have him sit Q3.
I hope we see a specialized change of pace QB package for him.
I gotta admit, I was hoping Fowler ended up at Juco, that kid is going to cause some problems for OLs in this league. Plays alot bigger than what he’s listed at.
Will double down on that. Did not want to see him flip from LSU.
Will double down on that. Did not want to see him flip from LSU.
Speaking of Juco, have you seen Last Chance U on Netflix?
I have. Thought it was excellent, very real. On another note, Auburn’s passing game shouldn’t be much of a threat this year.
Fantastic series! I hope it’s not a one off series, they need to either follow EMCC or do a hard knocks type deal and follow a different powerhouse every year (Blinn anyone?)… Auburn’ passing game CAN NOT POSSIBLY be worse than it was last year ???.
I think they’ve already renewed it for season 2 at EMCC again. As for the Auburn jab, I was referring to their new QB’s accuracy (or rather lack thereof).
Yeah, I got it.
TE or Y. He would be a good pass catching TE. That is where I see him if he wants to get on the field consistently. If he can block or learn, sky is limit.
He’s entirely too small to play TE, Swoopes maybe, but not Heard. Plus, a playmaking TE is not utilized in this system. That’s why we can’t hold on to playmaking TE commit.
You’re right, I got the two mixed up. Heck, put him a SS then.
Agreed, he will be on the field in some way shape or form guaranteed.
He certainly should be, dude is electric.
Sounds like some of the Perine to fullback talks at the top of last year. Just seems like a bad idea to me.
That will be one hell of a camp battle.
Would hope not.
I haven’t heard that and would be shocked if there was any truth to it
Me too. The guys we brought in are extremely talented, but so is Kyler. Would not make sense to keep a person with that much talent from competing for the QB spot in years to come (not at this point anyway).
Big advantage having Murray to help get our D ready for those games.
Maaaannnnn, gettin me all stirred up! Thanks
https://twitter.com/soonergridiron/status/762657162812239872
Obo looks good.
You know KJ, he has been one of those guys a lot of us (and writers too) thought would be the next great rusher for OU. I hope he’s had the cliche “light bulb” go on. His length looks ideal for the spot.
Definitely and just solid in his tech. AND he may be the best run stopper we have out of the LBs, im just speculating but he sure does look the part.
I remember reading on here during bowl prep, I think, that a source said if Obo could start putting it all together then he has the talents of a potential 1rst round pass rusher.
Just by physicality he is head and shoulders above what we had at olb last year.. Just needs to bring the heart and effort of that group last year
Mike aren’t you supposed to be in the box?
Love the notes about quality depth, all championship teams have that.
This is great stuff as always. I’m really interested to see how Will Johnson does this fall. Read the other day, I think media day quotes, that Will has looked really really good. Bob called him one of the best defenders. Florida State has used guys his size to do some really interesting things on defense. I’m anxious to see what the Sooners can do with someone like him or if they just keep him vanilla and play him in coverage all the time.
He was pretty darned good last year just getting started. I expect him to be a bright spot on the D.
in the spring game of ’15 i thought he looked like a guy who could play. he didn’t disappoint last year. should be improved (1st<2nd yr = biggest jump).
A couple of names popped up over the weekend that I thought that were interesting. Amani Bledsoe and Abdul Adams. Both are running with the 1s. The surprising part was Rodney Anderson was taking 2nd team reps. But I was told that it could be more of an evaluation of Abdul rather than him being better than Rodney, but if he continues to impress I dont see how you can’t play him. I was told he’s fast and made some really nice plays. I was also told that Bledsoe could possible play this year, not only is he “football” strong but I was told he’s one of the smarter (football smarts) DLs we have. Pretty impressive for a a young kid.
KJ bringing the goods as always.
That’s good news. There appears to be depth at every position. No drop off in production is good.
Exactly Sam, the depth of this team is starting to show for sure.
And SS17 isn’t here yet.
Quick question, is there quality DT talent in Oklahoma this year?
I think our 2 deep is pretty good.
With Daimler out for a while, any word on how Dwayne
Orso-Bacchus has been doing as he is now
on the O-line?
Good question.
I haven’t heard how Orso is doing, the rotation at RT right now is Samia, Evans and Mittimier.
I believe last tfb said was he was at LT behind brown and whoever else
He’s not in that rotation anymore. Evans will go over and give Brown a breather, but to be honest, Brown is on his own.
<<x:u. ★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★✫★★:::::::!!bz413a:….,..
He always does, Sam – We gotta’ love having OUr extra source besides the great TFB stuff!
Great info KJ! Surprising if Anderson is not the 3rd back option, but the BEST guy plays and having too many great players is a good thing!
I watched Anderson in the spring game. The kid made it look easy. He looked like he wasn’t putting forth any effort to run fast or hard.
To me he made all the right cuts to an open field. Just from the few times I saw him it appeared to me he has good (great?) RB vision.
He’s a nice problem to have. When was the last time OU had this much RB talent on one team? And Sermon isn’t here yet.
1976? Billy Sims, Kenny King, and Horace Ivory?
In the TCU game, as well as the Clemson game, both of our starting RBs went down and severely hurt our offense. Sounds like they want Adams and Anderson ready to step in if that happens again.
I think both of those guys are going to be really good. I am particularly high on what Adams brings to the table. Really like where we are as a backfield.
If Adams & Anderson didn’t have two NFL running backs ahead of them, they would both be starting. That is an insanely loaded backfield.
You have to add Daniel Brooks in there!
he’s good. very good. glad he’s still on the team.
Im just wondering if Bledsoe has the body frame that could possibly grow into a DT. That would be a big plus.
He’s got the frame for an NFL 3/4 end.
Get strength to backup that wingspan of his and he’s going to jackup lineman.
For sure. I’m excited! We’ve got so much youth its crazy.
I didnt check the roster but doesnt he go about 270 lbs? If he can get to 290 then we would potentially have another quality inside guy.
I’m not sure his exact weight but I think the last updates had him at 275 or 280 which is great for a freshman DE. 3/4 ends need to be able to eat blockers like a DT but have the lateral quickness of a 4/3 end. This kid could be a gem, and if he’s smart then shoot, I’ll take it.
Why is everyone so concerned about the NG position? We have Overton with Gallimore & Lampkin who can fill in and are all young. Also, Garnet may make strides this year and we will get someone good for next year. Stud NG/DT will take their time to make their pledge.
DTs in a 3-4 are the DEs…if that makes sense. Bledsoe is perfect for that spot. He won’t be a NG. That will be Overton and some Gallimore. I do think we need to find a guy like that…not sure who we’re pursuing outside of Marvin Wilson for that spot.
Watts, I thought.
Forgot about him! Yes, Deiontae Watts…sure has gone quiet with him. I think that was Thibs’ first offer at OU. And at that time, it didn’t look like we had much of a shot with Wilson.
I want Wilson but it appears we’ve slipped some with him. It stings because we lost Daniels last year, after he committed.
When you say running with the ones you mean rotating in, right?
Yes.
It’s hard for me to see why Adams might be over Anderson. They gushed over him a lot this offseason. I’m fine with whoever is the better back, though.
It could be that Adams brings a change of pace that Anderson does not. Scheme fit is not always determined by who is the “better” back. It can come down to which skill fits a specific need.
This. Anderson is in the Perine/Mixon mold. Adams might be a little more like Brooks…although from the clip I saw, Adams definitely looks the part and is more filled out than I thought.
Care to share that clip??!
this. and anderson is very athletic
That is what my initial thought was as well. Mixon and Perine can bruise (as well as doing a lot of other things well). Adams is definitely a change of pace.
Lincoln Riley must wake up every morning completely giddy over the array of weapons at his disposal.
He certainly should.
Not to mention getting paid $1MM dollars too doing something you love.
Either that or thinking How the crap do I get the ball to all these players this year. If I heard a grip about Riley last year it was that Andrews should have been used more. Seems like there are several candidates for that this year
What a wonderful problem to have!
Whose touches did you want Andrews to take away from last year? Shep? The guy had more catches than any freshman TE not named Jermaine Gresham. Andrews will be utilized PLENTY moving forward as he grows into the position more. He may have been used more last year but I think his blocking was suspect in some 3rd and short and/or goal line plays.
I didn’t say he needed more touches I said that it was the only thing people complained about last year. I certainly don’t have any problem with how they used him but people clamored for him to be used more all season and with Adams, Anderson and whoever is not starting at WR there will be those that calmer for them to get more playing time. The most difficult task Riley will have this year bar none will be spreading the ball around and keeping everybody into the game cause I think Mayfield could turn around and hand it to Perineum and Mixon on every play and we would still be har d to beat but with all the options he will have it will be cool to see how they move the ball around.
Not as half as giddy as I will be waking up to video game fun in the Palace in about a month.
true. and no one should worry about anderson
This could also be the case of they know what they have in Anderson and want to see what Adams has to offer. To do that they might want him behind the better line for evaluation.
Anderson still may be coming back mentally from injury. If you are thinking a lot in football your reactions are worse you are a step slow etc. Adams may just be playing more free right now but fully believe Anderson will be there as well!
Na, Anderson is good mentally and VERY hungry to see the field. He is ready for everyone to see what he has. Anderson is a team player and will do what ever he can to make the team better.
Exactly
I was just asking about Bledsoe :), thanks KJ.
As I said on another post I saw Bledsoe play last year against the in town HS football team (which were KS 6A state champs) and he still looked like a man amongst boys on the field. They basically ran away (opposite him) from him the entire game. I think he will be a really good player before all said and done at OU.
Is bledsoe rotating in for roberts or ward? Not sure which is playing strong side.
Thanks for the these notes KJ! My curiosity is piqued. I’m going to have to ask about Bledsoe!
Are you going to stop tweeting texsa stuff or am I going to have to unfollow you, Super K? LOL!
Lol i would unfollow.
K needs two twitter accounts – one for each team. I got burned on OP tweet for the bad guys. Scarred me for life.
Hey, I’m going to get Super K what I got him for Christmas last year.
Kinda quiet on Lampkin too.
So who would be starting at LG if the season started today, and is that spot locked down?
Having 1 spot in limbo isnt good, but a whole lot better than 2.
I believe Cody Ford is set to take that spot.
You are correct.
Im good with that, he looked like a beast coming out of HS. Thanks!
Yeah he is a good looking kid. Excited about what he can do between Brown and Alvarez.
Thats a beefy, and very strong left side. Bet we know where a lot of runs will be called to, lol.
If the season started today. The travel team would be, Brown, Ford, Alvarez, Samia, Evans as starters and Mittimier, Powers, Ashton, Wren, and Dalton.
Wow, danley not even 2nd string eh? Had high hopes for him.
The best news of the day is that Gallimore is looking legit. Now we need to get Lampkin on the same page and we won’t have to panic as much over DT recruiting.
One other note, and I hesitate to mention it because it’s way too early, but I hear that our offense looked REALLY good over the weekend. Especially the run game. Was told that during one of the periods the offense marched down the field and scored every time. But again it’s way early and I am going to believe that it’s not a knock on our defense, but the fact that our offense is REALLY good. Offense clicking this early in camp is never a bad deal.
Thanks KJ…now you got me completely paranoid about our defense.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItRs1kq9KdQ
Ok, so after watching that for the humor, it showed me the link to that game. How in the world did Josh Heupel turn that Trevor Knight into an average QB.
That’s the question of the decade. Josh made the offense very average, at best.
I don’t doubt it.
We have an identity.
Great QB
Creative OC.
Offense is going to be balanced.
OUR DEFENSE IS CRAP. We’re DOOMED, DOOMED I tell ya.
Fire Kish.
Stephen Dale: I agree completely……………….
I told ya’ll I didn’t want to mention it!
Shoot the messenger!!! JK. Thanks for the info KJ. We appreciate it greatly.
KJ, did the linebacker you spoke of being unhappy (already), have a better weekend?
Yeah I think just seeing how the initial depth chart was setup made him a little salty. But he’s practicing and getting some reps.
Gotta be McGinnis or Bolton…
I do not think so. Think it was an outside backer.
I’m not going to guess but if there is a guy who’s worked his tail off to get to 225/230 and is pretty good and these new LBs come walking in at 235/240 and 2 – 3 inches taller, has to be a downer to some degree.
Good to hear.
I would expect this since the offense has a lot of return starters plus Baker Baker the TD Maker leading the show. The D is just too inexperienced. But they should catch up soon enough.
That makes me feel really good. I don’t take it as a hit to our defense as much as look who we freaking have in our backfield…With Baker, Joe, and Samaje, we can only stop ourselves!
The best thing about this is that going against this offense every day for the next 3 weeks should have our D more than ready for the likes of Houston and tOSU.
Also, LOVE the fact that K Murray will be running scout team QB.
TFB Mods, this is sweet information. Thank you very much.
thank you, and everyone, for reading!
So you gave the information to Super K and he wrote it up?!? jk
Nope, I’ve long maintained it’s everyone else here who is the talent, not this guy 🙂
What evaaaaa!
I think we figured that out on our own. 🙂
And we’ve all agreed for a long time.
Somebody has to occupy the left side of Bell Curve…
Oh man! Sorry bout that, Hoss.
I’m fine w/ it
C’mon bro, takes a team to win and last I checked, you were on that team.
Every great team needs role players, my friend 😉
Don’t forget, role players become fan favorites cause they do the dirty work. You have peeps/fans in sooner nation, don’t be so harsh on yourself. You may have misunderstood me a long time ago but I’ve always been a fan and You are the reason I came here. Bet’ch didn’t know.
B Stoops must be feeling really good about this team. He hasnt brought up the Alabama game in over 3 months.
I had to laugh…good one
For people who like actual data for rankings and previews. I listen to what these guys say much more than ESPN or Bruce Feldman and Stew Mandel. I mean Foxsports had OU as the 3rd or 4th best backfield…really? haha Anyway here’s some good stuff https://www.profootballfocus.com/college-football-2016-season-preview-florida-gators/?utm_content=buffer61e5d&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=college
https://twitter.com/soonergridiron/status/762673545298190336
Dam we are so staked at RB. Anderson and Adams are pretty big.
Those are some big backs. Rodney is jacked
Future is bright.
Geez… Didn’t realize Adams was gonna be that big
Me either.
Dang, straight up stout….Gundy/Boulware has really done an amazing thing bringing in quality RB’s.
I love how everybody gets enamored with 5 star recruits (me included) but if OU’s season started today our O-line would be
Orlando Brown 3* Ranked 449 Nationally late signing because Tennessee over committed themselves
Cody Ford 3* Ranked 524 Nationally
Johnathon Alvarez 2* Ranked 2351 Nationally
Ben Powers 3* Ranked as #58 Juco player this year but had 0 offers out of High School which is the reason he has 4 years to play 3 at OU
Dru Samia 4* Ranked 292 nationally
With a couple other options of
Bobby Evans 4* Ranked 174 Nationally and/or
Alex Dalton 3* Ranked 407 Nationally and/or
Quinn Mittermier 3* Ranked as #45 Juco Player last year and like Powers 0 offers out of High School so 4 to play 3 at OU
I am not saying Higher ranked recruits wouldn’t make our line better overall but gotta love how these coaches can find hidden gems and make quality players out of them!
Then again we don’t have any 5 star players to throw in there
Yeah I’ve always said the top tier 5 stars are legit and can play anywhere. Everyone else falls into a, well see where they end up type of category. Also having the specialist that we do helps alot, especially BM.
This is particularly true in the OL area. Not a lot of the guys working for the sites know how to evaluate OL. Then there is also the fact that most HS players don’t have the training regimen that that colleges do. So you are looking at the 260 lb guy trying to guess whether his frame can handle another 60 lbs of good weight or trying to figure what kind of player the 375 lb chubby is going to be if he loses 50 lbs and turns the rest into muscle.
Exactly Bob, OL is the most difficult to scout imo.
I only care about high stars in skill positions, that’s where they seem to show their rating. That and D-Lineman.
Stars have never struck me in the LB, O-Line, TE, or FB positions.
I know it get’s mentioned alot but “Zeus” Brown was never a 3 star in principle… He was a high 4 star dropped late in the game due to qualification fears and in hindsight probably a 5* Check out the offer list, 99% of the SEC and pretty much his pick from the every elite program in the nation. Spot on assessment though
That is kind of what I am referring to in a drawn out way. Stars don’t always equal ability. Look at this year. Anthony Hines has over 90 offers out of 128 D1 schools #1 ILB and in the 247composite ranking he is at #69 37 spots from 5 star status but every team out there want him! Stars are weird sometimes!
Ah, gotcha. Hines offer list is just crazy. I cannot even imagine how he sorts through that mess
Yeah not many people face cutting 70 teams to get to a top 20 LOL!
I miss the days of Super K not being such a burnt orange boy.
I know! It’s great to have him on here and commenting more.
Striping the field today and more chairs were put in as of late. Looking more and more like game time in Norman, OK. BOOMER
SOONER!
Beautiful! Can’t wait to see it pop’n live on game day.
Yes sir. We need to get down there. I can’t wait to get this season going.
SAFETIES. Our personnel at safety has always been a bit counter-intuitive to me: Parker has always struck me as a FS and A. Thomas has always looked the build of a SS (but hey, it is working so no complaints). Curious about where the young guys fit in since the Sooner Sports rosters on lists “DB” or “S”. Does anyone have any idea: 1) which safety position Sunderland, Haughton, McKinney and Sylvie will play; and 2) where they are running on the depth chart?
I think Sunderland is at FS, Haughton at SS, Mckinney FS, possibly looking at Sylvie for back up Nickel
Thanks. So Haughton shadowing Parker. I was hoping that was the case. From everything I hear, Sylvie at Nickle makes a lot of sense. Any idea who is further along between Sunderland and Mckinney?
#TBT Remember this time last year? Every other day the best QB switched from Mayfield to Knight, (I even think I remember some Cody Thomas mentions from time to time) as far as who looked the best. Mayfield was sighted as a gunslinger that didn’t always take care of the ball and threw too many int’s! What a difference a year makes! BOOMER!
Not to toot my own horn, but…I remember those reports, and I also remember telling everyone not to buy in to it because it was just coachspeak to keep everyone competing and pushing hard to get better. I said Mayfield would be the starter, and that TK9’s days of starting left with Josh Heupel, barring injury to Mayfield.
Ok, so I was tooting my own horn.
BTW….to all the recruits that haven’t committed to us….WE’RE NOT DEEP WE NEED YOU!
jus sayin
“It’s another great day to be a SOONER”, Shout out to #SS17 and #ST18, and of course all you lurkers!!!
Exactly! COMMIT FOR IMMEDIATE PLAYING TIME!
Interesting point . . . maybe we should reconsider the “We Too Deep” slogan during recruiting season.
Been lurking off and on today – great post. Finally, we can get news about practice and players on campus. Very curious about several positions groups, LB’s are at the top. Least concerned about RB, we are stacked!
Not OU related, but sad nonetheless….RIP
https://twitter.com/Wildcat_Country/status/762690840816857089
Man, that is tough. Hate to hear about it.
Wow, sad deal.
Wow, sad deal.
Man that’s rough. It’s hard when they are that young and appear to have a full life ahead of them.
Indeed
Excellent OP Super K! I appreciate the honesty in regards to our chances with Marvin. I’d rather know that he’s not really “feeling” us as much as he is Tejas, than be given a sugar coated fluff story.
To the surprise of hopefully no one, former OU commit Trajan Bandy verbals to Miami
https://twitter.com/SleeperAthletes/status/762696231843921920
Just saw that….GL to him.
I would have liked to have seen him as a successful Sooner, but whatever. Best of luck to him.
Best of luck to him. Was looking forward to cheering for him in Norman, but he has to find the program that is right for him.
In related news, water is wet.
Anybody feel like this was nearly identical to the kid that went to A&M after Mike Stoops was hired? His career turned out well.
Andddd… Trajan just committed to Miami. The pressures of being a recruit from Florida definitely got to him. Wish the best for him and his career there (if he keeps to his word).
Great OP TFB.Thanks! Its 12:11 and texsa SUCKS!
How about now?
Just checked, and yes there is still suckage!!!!!
https://twitter.com/zayborghini_6/status/762694358235832320
Confusing, to say the least.
Is it a mock at OU since they just got Bandy?
It is indeed. They still think it’s 1998 apparently.
Seriously? He’s going to disrespect OU, the coaches, SS17, and everyone else who did nothing but treat him with respect and welcome him into the program?
Clearly this guy doesn’t understand the first thing about burning bridges.
I’m wondering if maybe that was a pic taken a while ago (when he was committed to us) and is now being brought up because of his new commitment. Bandy didn’t retweet it so it makes me think that he didn’t support his future teammate doing this.
Ah. Well, I hope so, for his sake. That would be very disappointing if he was trying to dump on OU, the coaches, and SS17.
He’s clearly falling in with the wrong crowd who will lead him down the wrong path and probably end up hurting his career. He made that decision.
The Miami commit actually @ Bob Stoops.
Was reading some replies to Rogers tweet above, this one made me laugh…
https://twitter.com/cAndywRapperz/status/762124275386085376
I can believe that…It’s just like rooting for Colorado.
Lol , you should look at the replies Hunter Echols got when he committed to USC. UCLA fans were salty.
That’s hilarious.
That is funny, but not even close to the best raccoon memorial ever.
http://www.boredpanda.com/dead-raccoon-memorial-shrine-mourning-deadraccoonto-toronto/
HAHAHAHA
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh My, wiping tears out of my eyes. Some funny shi$
That was hilarious!
https://twitter.com/Comeup_5/status/762696028793532417
I think he’s getting confused about where he just committed.
https://twitter.com/BandyTrajan/status/762696625999405056
That or he’s a Texas fan now
Idk how anybody could like the color orange.
Color blind, perhaps?
That kid should show some class.
Broiles has class
https://twitter.com/JustinbroilesJ/status/762703979239333892
Whoa! You are Boomer17 on twitter right? Big fan of the edits and all the work you put in. You are awesome! This Sooners fan just wanted to say THANK YOU!
Thanks man, that means a lot!
Thanks man, that means a lot!
Absolutely! Really sick work you do. Hats off.
Farmer G, how did you figure out that he was Boomer17?
the twitter account is Boomer17@Booomer145 . and uses the same user pic. I’m not on twitter but nearly every day I bring up Boomer17 along with #OUDNA and #SoonerSquad17 to see what’s going on in the world.
Lol, that’s the kind of stuff the U will tolerate, and Bobby won’t. Brandy obviously made the right commit cause Bob would have chewed him a new one and spit him back out.
Call me when you get above .500 in the W column, Brandy
We’ll see how funny that was after they finish with another 5+ losses and are beaten in the sun bowl.
Team ranked 44th in the country, 37th pass defense eff, attendance has dropped below 40k .. its so bad they don’t count anymore
Typical Miami brash style…the difference is….you could do that when you had Jerome Brown, and Michael Irving and on and on. This U is not the U of old…not even close.
He’s no Reed or Taylor that’s for sure. Man they pumped out some special players for a while.
We’ll see if Richt tolerates it. He doesn’t seem like that kind of coach, of course when he coached in the SEC it didn’t take much to seem like a class act.
When they did the “what coach would you want your son to play for” poll a few years ago on all the coaches, richt came in right under stoops. Hes supposed to be a pretty classy guy.
Unbelievable.
He was your boy too. We all wanted him Sam but wish him well. Are you warming up to Cobb yet?
Touche’.
I guess I read him wrong. He was all about being overlooked and dismissed. I thought the early OU offer, before anyone else, would carry weight with him. I guess not.
But, it does prove OU has clout as a Power 5 team. Better jump on this guy: OU offered.
I just love that Bandy is still representing his OU gear while giving the U sign. Good luck to the young man. I really thought he was the best DB in our class but we still have a more than solid class.
Bandy will be an afterthought if Cooks closes this class the way he wants too. His new teammate is pretty classless though.
Bandy is already an afterthought.
I watched some of today’s practice video of Obo. The young man is big and beefed up!
Thought this was kinda funny
https://twitter.com/DrPetey15/status/762694863276085248
Son, you want these back, you’re gonna hear me out first. lol
Haha! Probably lost a bet to Austin!
“Austin, you need to lift more, here I’ll carry this”
Seen on a pay Site: “Baker Mayfield seen carrying Austin’s pads. Is there a quarterback controversy brewing?” Read more. Subscription required.
Also, “Could Bob Stoops be on the Hotseat?”
Well it is about 100 deg outside.
Gotta take care of your little brother. I like it.
This…
Nobody EVER can say Mayfield’s not humble. I remember them talking to his HS teachers who described him as one of the smartest kids they ever saw and one of the nicest and then asking them if they ever thought he would be a big time division one quarterback? They all started laughing and said something like “no- we all told each other he would be President one day!”

I think Brenda Tracy is talking today….how many morons reporting will throw Joes name in their stories?
http://i.imgur.com/0HRsaAF.jpg
Trammel, Hoover, Emig, Murdock, maybe Carlson? Any I’m missing?
Don’t forget Dennis Dodd who threw him under the bus, on Twitter, when it was reported that she’d speak to the team. You know because she is speaking on sexual abuse and rape, which Joe has had nothing to do with. SMH.
Dodd is a tool. He can suck it.
At least one each from the DOK, Tulsa World and the Norman Shortscript.
At least one each from the DOK, Tulsa World and the Norman Shortscript.
Ugh, too much football info. Can’t we just go back to talking about conference expansion?!?
I kid, I kid.
Come on Alvarez, I mean I understand dudes gotta adjust, but you gotta know when…lol
https://twitter.com/News9Sport/status/762698318187208705
MIght want to call up Ty and get a few tips on talking to the media.
LOL
I miss the long locks.
Agree. He looked meaner with the long hair.
Although the skull Tat is a nice touch.
He looked like an absolute BA.
I have to say, though, his voice surprised me. I always imagined him sounding like Billy in “Predator”. Deep and menacing.
https://youtu.be/SvDC3TQ2lLM
I don’t think Billy got to use his machete before the Predator got to him. Still a mystery though.
I’ll say this. For 300+ lbs he looks pretty trim.
Life without pockets.
Haha……Big Alvarez seems nervous a hell in front of the media.
If anyone thinks Houston isn’t going to come out and smack us in the mouth they better think twice, that’s a physical bunch they have down there and they have that mentality. Ultimately I believe we’ll wear them down and run up the score, but they’ll be a tough fired up group.
Herman will have wrinkles that tests every new starter on defense.
OUr guys better be ready
I see them keeping it close until almost halftime. Then we pull away in the second half to a 20+ point victory.
I see that happening, well have a couple first downs first series maybe grab 3 points, they’ll be tough to start. Then out of nowhere we hit a long play for a score, and then the flood gates open.
They’re going to forget about our secret weapon. Dimitri Flowers gets a TD in this game.
Herman will do something on offense that will take Mike a couple series to adjust to. It’s going to be tough deciding just how vanilla we can be and still come out victorious.
And on the flip side, Linc will have a small adjustment period at first, but once he finds that weakness to exploit, it’s all over.
Houston was what 11-1 last year? Beat FSU fairly easily in their bowl game. If we go vanilla we’ll be in big trouble.
I really would like it if OU would not go vanilla on offense or defense. I’d like them to make a statement: this is who we are, this is what we do, you can’t stop. I’m not going to out fox you, I’m going to out play you. Let’s shake hands after the game. Good luck!
I’m more concerned about showing many blitz packages on defense. I’m hoping we can stop the run AND put pressure on the QB without sending multiple LBs at a time. We should have the talent advantage in the trenches.
I dont mean to look forward but I would like to show tOSU as least as possible. If we can run them out of NRG with a vanilla package i’ll be happy.
Me too. I’m not too concerned about offense. We’re gonna run. Baker is going to pick you apart. Riley can dial up the creativity, if needed. We will hang ‘half-a-hunnerd’ on you.
There’s no time for being vanilla this year. I hate it when they hold back.
Id feel better if we were playing them in Norman. It’ll be a dog fight.
I agree. If OUr boys aren’t fired up from the get go it will be a replay of the 2015 RRR
Stoops has in the past made it seem as though he’s not big on inspirational, pump-you-up pregame or halftime talks. More about “if we execute, then it will take care of itself.” Is that accurate or is there a different side when he’s behind closed doors?
I think he lets the leaders do the talking to be honest.
Herman will have them ready, no doubt in my mind whatsoever about that.
I’m a big fan of that guy. He’d easily be my #1 choice right now to replace Bob when the time comes.
Whoa! I think it’s a little early to start that campaign.
I heard Denzel left his phone at the local diner in Nompton, he should be on his way back to Nompton to retrieve it sometime this week.
LOL
Guessing Wed will be his next chance to pick it up? Lol
Yeah, guess he didn’t want to come in during peak hours.
TRob, this was classy of Tyrese.
https://twitter.com/tyrese_robinson/status/762711546057195520
Yeah, he get’s it. Very mature for 16.
I’d upvote this 10 times if I could. He’s exactly the type of kid we want here.
I will call the local diner in Nompton and have them FedEx Denzel’s phone, overnight, of course.
Lmao Sam. But we like when he comes in, he tips well as of late.
That’s good. How has it been for you and the family. Enjoying the heat?
We are all good down this way Sam. How about you and your family? You know i spent 2 years in afaghanistan and 2 years in iraq, i’ve grown accustomed to extreme heat.
Thank you for your service.
Haha ain’t that right! Just makes the winter that much colder tho..
I grew up in southwest Georgia. I’ve worked in some hot conditions. I’ve been living in Ohio since 1995. When I go home, I can’t take it anymore.
I have friends who grew up in Wisconsin and now have been in Houston for 10 years. They go home to a Packer game once a year and he says they can’t stand the cold anymore. Funny how we can change.
Sam, I’m heading to lake Sandusky for a long weekend with some friends who have a lake house there. Looking forward to some nice boating up in your country.
It’s beautiful up that way. Enjoy!

It’s getting to be that time of year when he should just set up shop at a local hotel.
Check into his Denzel suite at Sooner Legends for the season.
They’re always booked when I look. Denzel is a VIP, though. I’m a nobody.
You’re a VIP on the TFB board, so that’s something.
If only Esco would open a hotel…
Nice!!
Is this some inside info for a late week boom or am I reading this wrong as a subtle hint?
The hyberbole, its getting my hopes up!!
It has got to be Murray
Did you shake the box? What does it sound like?
I believe you’re right. Murray is announcing Wednesday.
It has got to be Murray
Hmmmm.
Many ppl have seen Tyrese talents on the field, but not on the mic. Auditions for Texas Got Talent. I’m going to have too agree with you guys on this one Texaz Sucks!
Check out @tyler_privett’s Tweet: https://twitter.com/tyler_privett/status/467747553011073024?s=09
I’m not getting any audio.
Click it twice.
Got it. Thanks!
I’m not getting any audio.
Thanks for posting T-Rob. We like to keep up with all the young guys – you make it much easier. With Kasitati gone, we need the new guys to keep things rockin’ 🙂
Slightly concerned about finding a NG for this class especially after striking out on them last class. Seems like neither Wilson or Rogers is very realistic right now and the only other NG offer we have heard about is Deontae Watts and that was months ago with no contact since then.
I think it’s definitely something to keep an eye on. Need a NG and there aren’t many in this 2017 class in general.
Did someone turn Metz into a lurker????
I plead innocent…. although I will confess to lurking quite often the past few weeks
More like Stalker?
A Slurker??
I like it. Metzslurker. That’s funny
Haha PSA: Friends don’t let other friends be Slurkers.
i have been busy is all have not had much time to post!
Dont let ze germans push you around, fight for your TFB time!
LMAO!
Yes, if he misses too much, they cause him to go Metzurk!
Well, that would be a lot better than SOME things he could be turned into 🙂
DAM!!!!!!!Thanks Cush!
Yeah, you date anymore of those witches and you could be Hermit’s cousin 🙂
LMAO!!!!!!!
Yeah, you date anymore of those witches and you could be Hermit’s cousin 🙂
I don’t know. From where he is at anyplace is pretty much up.
Just jump right in Bob.
I’m trying to lose weight. I thought kicking you when you are down would be a good start to an exercise program.
———–
Yeah. He thinks that not showing up is like time served. Probation is probation, whether you’re here or not.
Hey im busy!!!!!!!!Not to mention this OP is lit and takes time to catch up.
Busy doing what? I guess if you’re always doing nothing you have to stay busy doing nothing, huh?
Been doing nothing for the same company for 30 yrs.I guess my nothing is ok!
I know’d it.
Couple of things. How come no mention of Duvonta Lampkin? Thought he was a beast last year in camp. And what about Dalton Rodriguez, where does he fit into all this @ the LB spot considering he was really disruptive in the spring game. Not to mention he is 6’6 255
Good questions.. !!
Lampkin is pretty far back in the rotation right now. Rodriguez is still a walk-on. I agree his length was problematic but guys like Obo/Jackson are so explosive.
Is the spot with Lampkin due to his off season surgery or his performance?
Anyone have any thoughts on Nick Basquine? BM mentioned him on the between the hashes Q&A. Wonder if he’s some practice squad freak of nature that will explode onto the scene?
Imo I think he was a really smart player that was talented but didn’t have that elite talent.. And schools thought most of his success was just because of his QB David Cornwell.. But heard he worked his butt off everyday with strength coaches in explosiveness and quickness, this seems like the type of kid I love! One that wasn’t handed life in a basket with a now on it.. But worked through blood, sweat and failures to get where he is and deserves every bit of it!
Samaje looks even more “tankish” this year, I feel sorry for the first Houston defender that tries to square him up.
Has Adams beefed up since signing day? He looks as big as Anderson in that pic from today. I thought compared to Perine, Mixon, and Anderson he was undersized.
Listed at 5’10”, 208.
He looks every bit of that. Pretty stout for a true frosh.
With moves like Q. Gonna be fun to watch.
Roster list Anderson at 6’0″, 220 and Adams at 5’10”, 208. Who know what they actually weigh.
Has Adams beefed up since signing day? He looks as big as Anderson in that pic from today. I thought compared to Perine, Mixon, and Anderson he was undersized.
How much more can he max out his body? Sheesh
Looks pretty stretched out, I would think he’d want to be a little leaner to take it easy on his ankle.
Me too. I see him leaving after this season for the NFL and Mixon staying for one more year. What do you think?
I think that’s the feeling. I think Joe would need one more year to really up his draft stock imo. Plus it’s a quality RB draft year. Some good ones coming out.
I’d like to see him stick the four years and set the school rushing record beyond reasonable reach.
https://twitter.com/soonergridiron/status/762727268959432704
I like that one.
What a get that would be!
tOSU game will be key!
Dont guess bandy will make the game////SSSSSSSSSSS
I don’t. I didn’t enjoy this game.

Is Kenneth Murray still plan on committing somewhere Aug 10 ?
Yes. To the Sooners on Aug 10.
Lots of good smoke for OU.
I believe so.
Question: How many of you are taking this info and acting like insiders for other websites? Just curious…
http://oi64.tinypic.com/zlrf9d.jpg
This is the only site I visit anymore. But within the office, I am an insider.
Not i.
Knot eye!
Just keep hitting dont ya!
How are your kidneys?

She cannah take the strain, Captain! She’s gonnah blow!
Or…”eye am knot.”
There are other sites?

Or…”snot me.”

Dis guy…
OMG – He has his own site I think!
Yes, sir. He needs to wear those retainers at night.
————————–
What showed up now and where?
Nope, only have this one. On it so much, don’t have time for any of the others.
I usually use TFB info to talk about OU stuff on B/R. But ive mentioned the TFB name on there so many times, its pretty obvious im not trying to pawn it off as my own info.
Same, JL. I had a sooner fan on there ask me about a good website and I immediately referred TFB to him over B/R.
Think we are probably the most prevalent sooners on there. Though my account has been weird the last few months, half the stuff i post never shows up. Its like they ban and unban me without ever telling me lol.

Some bad news – Smallwood in an interview let it slip that J. Thomas will in fact be suspended. No idea for how long
No fing way!
I think I mentioned it back when it happened, I was told Houston for sure. But was hoping that things changed.
Interesting as I read somewhere he wouldn’t be suspended. Oh well.
Might have heard the quote wrong. He said “step up for JT” I guess i didnt decipher that means the on the other side of the field from JT
Trouble maker!
He needs probation.
Worse offense imo.
Someone say “probation”?
Yes im off and he is on!
Lying again. What am I going to do with you, Metz?
What did i do this time?
That you’re not on probation. You said, and I quote, “Yes im off and he is on!”
Sam, we need to ask Jordan to add a probation option as an alternative too Block user. Once some one is blocked there is no un- block option. That way you could keep metz on probation whenever he metz’s up.
I like it. I’d also like the addition of text formatting: for instance, Metz’s text would be in red, as a warning that he’s prone to untruths and has been placed on probation.
I thought Bob said no suspension,if he does whats right.
Well see, Im hoping not, but sounds like it may still be on the table.
Well, it should as a deterrent not to metz up again.
Well see, Im hoping not, but sounds like it may still be on the table.
I’m voting he is suspended for the ULM home opener in lieu of the first game. Due to it being the home opener and all! (Says every one of us, homer, fans out here)
It’s only right to do the Les Miles thing and let the team vote on it. = )
Heard some team leaders sat Thomas down after the incident and told him they didnt want any more of that.. and if he was to go out again it would be with one of them.. was on the sportsanimal this morning
Well that’s not ideal
link?
link?
I expect Houston to be a tough game, but it’s not their passing that scares me. Rather he miss that one than against some of the other teams we face with better passing offenses.
That’ll definitely be a surprise to me. Heard from a number of people that he will play.
No proof that he wont. I think i misinterpreted what Smallwood said in an interview
I sure hope that’s what it is.
I thought I had heard the same, haven’t been concerned about it.
It’s never not funny to me what qualifies as “news” for some when you could have read about it on TFB however many days earlier….

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, vid didn’t show up on Disgust. Click the link to listen to Okudah. Interesting that off the cuff OU is the first one he mentions in his list. Doesn’t mean a lot but means we are the first one that comes to mind.
Sounds like a smart kid.
I like that OU comes to mind first – subconscious working its way to the conscious to form his choice.
Maybe he needs to try CalebK’s coin flip trick to see which team he is hoping comes up or fears won’t come up.
Ugh
Wow, gives a whole new meaning to “It’s Lit”

That’s NASA’s new #SS17 rocket.
This has to be one of the top 3 posts today. Funny.
There are clips from Texsa practice up on twitter.. Since they canceled the HOF game last night I guess thats all the football I get right now
With Kenneth Murray possibly committing to the Good Guys, I’m curious, who do you guys like better? Would you take Murray over Chaisson, Gumbs, etc.?
I’d take Chaisson over Gumbs. Murray is a different position so I would want Chaisson and Murray.
Bingo
I dont really like answering these kinds of questions since the recruits involved could easily be reading this site.
This is true, I just hope they know this is just opinions of OU fans on this particular site and in no way reflect the opinions of the coaches.
And most of the time (me especially ) we are full of crap! LOL!
It’s a trick question
Chaissson is 1st in this group for me cause he is the perfect OLB for this 3-4 system OU is using, Plus it might not matter in the end but he is really close to Marvin Wilson and if OU needs just a little bit to push them over the top he could be it! Then from a pure size standpoint I like Gumbs over Murray but that is tough. Gumbs is 6’4″ 220lb and could easily be closer to a DE by the time he plays at OU and at 6’2″ 210lb I think he will end up at ILB so they could all be different positions when it is said and done! All good players though!
Jake Trotter tries to answer the question.. .would OU be better off in the SEC?
http://www.espn.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/113902/would-oklahoma-be-better-off-in-sec
Jordon already tore into Trotter on Twitter over this. 🙂
Lol great 🙂 ,
I dont twitter. I want to see!
Go to Twitter.com and search for Jake Trotter. You should be able to read all the tweets back and forth.
haha found it.. good stuff.
Saw that earlier… enjoyed it
As did I 🙂
Me three.
Damn, now I gotta go look for this. 🙂
Cameron Rising was on with James Hale this afternoon. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a recruit more excited about committing to the Sooners. When asked why he decided to commit so early, he said “so I can start recruiting!” Gotta love him already!
Go get 5 star WR Joesph Lewis and Jalen Hall. Im actually curious if he knows those guys.
Some kids just get it.
Couldn’t say it any better Bebo!

I changed it, had wrong link
Get ’em ready coach! Build those road graders and brick walls.
“It’s gonna be physical and get after it . . .” Love that mentality!!
And that was after he caught himself. He really wanted to say, “we cannot worry about trying to stay healthy, we have to get after it.”

Now that’s news…I like surprises like that.
Anyone know the reason for transferring?
Dont know but the kid had a TON of offers coming out of HS.
Wonder if he is a walk-on? wouldn’t think we would use a scholly right now.
We may have one available because of Valentin.
True. ND site called him a rush end, thoughts?
Dont know much about the kid to be honest. But the ND site says he played in almost all the games. I wouldn’t want him to play this year though. I’d like to see him go through the winter workout program, make sure there aren’t any off the field issues and gauge his commitment level. Kelly and ND are sticklers, but Bobs approach, while still holding a high standard, is a little softer imo.
agreed. should definitely sit out a year, see how he fits in etc.
Maybe he will take what he learned last year and teach us how to embarrass UT again?
Looks like he only played in 3 games last year and 11 games as a freshman.
Yeah he was a composite 4 star on 247. That’s so nice having a blue chip D-lineman fall in our laps.
Notre Dame recruits really well , i like this pick up.
http://www.ndinsider.com/football/de-grant-blankenship-suspended-from-notre-dame-football-team/article_91e54272-0320-11e6-8d27-dfeec1e852d8.html
I only know he was suspended for violating team rules, haven’t heard anything about the details.
A quick search says he was suspended this spring for violation of team rules at ND.
Is this like a Mayfield “transferred to Oklahoma”? Is he next going to go introduce himself to the coaches? 🙂
I assume if he even does join the team that he has to sit out a year, no?
no clue. thats a good question.
top 15 in his position out of HS, big dude, 4* nice

Wonder if this is Trobs secret recruit??
Im going Joseph Lewis just because I want to see it happen
The site may shut down if Joesph Lewis commits.
Their was mention of the next guy shutting down Sooner Nation lol…
Imo i think Okudah is the guy everyone has been talking about lately.
It’s not the one I was referring to fyi. Different one.
EDIT: No, I meant a different boom lol
Its Okudah.
so this week could be INSANE? is that what you are telling us?
Glad I bought some beer today.
One step ahead of me..
Got it.. So more to look forward too! Well this is one way to stay satisfied 20 something days from the start of the season
Lol.
I would sprint out of the office so fast if that happened lol
Ha! You have been riding that Joseph Lewis train pretty hard. Toot! Toot! Right there with you though! Show me J. Lew on this team and I will show you devastating.
Manning, making it 4 of the best TX WRs in 2017 coming to OU
With Newman putting Texas back in his bio, and Creed taking A&M out of his, I have to wonder what might be going on behind the scenes
Good observation Zach.
I wish my questions were answerwed that quickly…
Well played, Zach. Well played.
Just curious Zach. If you were to play powerball, what numbers would you pick?
SS17 is LIT

Vegas what is your heart rate right now?
three?!?! in August.. whoa! Lets do it!
Hang on. We’re on lockdown…
Nic pic!
Im excited!!!!! WHO IS IT????!!!
D. Woods, Valentin, and Bandy. Those are my guesses.
Valentin is in JC no?
He is. That’s my way of saying I have no idea.
Oh. LOL. Woods too, I see what you did now!
Bandy just committed to Miami earlier today lol
That’s funny.
Could easily be Murray
I’m guessing Murray, Hines and Newman.
That’s Wednesday surprise.
They didnt say that it would be today unless I missed it.
https://twitter.com/Boomer145/status/762772908414349312
If say Hines if it weren’t for Riley tweeting, but who knows
Could we put this on hold for a while, don’t want to miss any of the platform diving tonight. 🙂
Tell the divers to wait in mid-air.
CREED HUMPHREY to OU
Edit: BOOM!!!!!
Ok Im revising my guess to Creed Humphrey.
Haha smart man!
Yah Creed
We’ll get em…patience is a virtue.
We got 3 more coming so be happy
I see what you wrote there. Give us the goods!
Creed Humphrey!!
🙂
Kinda suprised but makes sense with the commit from Texsa
Boom!
https://twitter.com/creed_humphrey/status/762774511359897600
Yes, sir!
These Booms gonna break the Interwebs. Me likey!
We have been Creeded!
Whoa. Big boy BOOM!!
Big man right in the middle!
Welcome home CREED.
So wait….now we have Rambo AND Creed?
They might be playing the Rocky theme song when the team takes the field next year.
LOL
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Creed flipped! BOOM!!!!
Ok Creed my lad….. Time to stay put and no more looking about
Can he play guard as well?
I see Creed finally got to meet Stephen Dale
That be a wrap for the OL.
The rest of you big boys snooze you lose.
Even the no 1 Center?
Yep.
Idk , was told the number 1 center may play the guard position in college.
Always a possibility, I think B likes guys who can shift left or right if needed.
Yup. Like Hayes and Creed can easily shift all over the line. Coach B likes them Big & Nasty and very versatile.
Coaches can only hold out so long. They usually always tell the kids that they have one maybe two spots left.
Creed hit 25 or 26 reps at 225 at the Opening. Stood next to him and he’s very big man.
He looks like one of those barrel chested interior linemen. Great flip. Closes the door on Newman. Maybe room for one more at OT.
Yep and I would rather have Creed based on his reps that I watched. Also, its good to have an Okie on the line. Provides some Okie pride.
What about Cesar Ruiz? Put Hayes at Tackle , Creed at Center/guard and Tyrese at Guard.
Cesar is tops imo but I honestly don’t know if his interest level is high enough. We’re light at OT.
Hard to find good OT’s so I’m with you.
Gotcha , now im thinking about that 2018 oline class. 5 star Brey Walker and possibly the 2nd ranked tackle in Darnell Sampson.
Yeah, I would have liked to have had Newman too, but these recruits were warned to get on board or get left at the bus stop. The Sooner Schooner rolls on!
Think about what he’ll be able to do once he gets to spend some quality time with Schmitty!
one more OT then wrap
If it had any effect on the decision. . .thanks to the aTm coaches for their insensitivity at their recent women’s coaching clinic.
I get the feeling that he committed to A&M because of his good friend but that his heart was really with OU. The coaches screw up gave him the excuse to come to the good guys.
Just speculation of course.
Makes perfect sense.
Fun little Monday, huh?
It will work
Thank you Sir. May I have another?
No need to stop now.

Not sure if my heart can take another. Elizabeth, I’m coming to join you..
Haha that’s funny
Haven’t heard that one in a long time. LOL
Whoa!
Showing my age too. 🙂
Heck, the nice thing about old age is that it doesn’t last very long.
LOL!!!
Hush! I turn 3 score and 10 tomorrow.
Well, Happy 40 30 tomorrow!!!
I will be there shortly. Hold the fort down for me.
Congrats!
Sad thing thing is, I probably have more glasses now, than Fred did.
I didn’t understand that whole glasses deal until I got older. Now I have cheaters in every room. Sad.
My wife has them everywhere. LR, game room, bedroom, her car, my truck, the RV. Good grief.
How about Lewis or Okudah next?
yes please… Im gonna bring up Lewis every Boom Alert we get lol
Damn I have go teach a class! I am going to give them a long essay so I can follow TFB on my I-Phone. Screw it.
That is classic. Add Rogers to the wish list too.

More to come!!? welcome to the family
Just checked 247 about Blankenship and his lead recruiter was KC, In the last 2 years Kerry Cooks has to be the best addition the Sooners have added
WORD.
Makes sense too for being “aware” of a potential transfer.
I love Cooks, but I think this WHOLE STAFF has turned it around! Props to every single coach now on Bob Stoops’ staff!
As once, let it be again!
I told you Denzel was on his way back to Nompton to get his phone. Guess he decided to drop by the diner again. Welcone home Creed!
YOU da man in the know. Thanx TRob!
T.Rob, does little brother know about this yet? SS17 is gonna be crazy good.
Line gonna be nasty.
TRob out of pure curiosity was Creed the silent commit you were hinting to on Wednesday
3 more CBs for Murray to Nompton today…
What a huge half a week if he does indeed commit. He’s expected to commit Wednesday morning right?
Yes Wednesday but not sure the time..
T Rob is this the one from last week or are we still getting another one on wed?
Not last week, but some guys below side they wanted Denzel to get a hotel room in Nompton this week. Guess after he picked his phone back up he logged on to TFB, read the messages and decided to accept the invitation.
lol thanks. You getting with Rising Dad to help out with the inside info for TFBs on Savage 18’s? Us TFB’s are very thankful for all the info you provide us. Want to also thank you for helping keep our country free and safe during your service. I am an Air Force brat my self as my dad retired an E9.
T-Rob, you are always welcome, but if you wanna’ drop in the upcoming BOOMS, come in ALL the dang time 🙂

At 6:59…nice reps of Creed against Wilson…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTnTffp7XXk
Creed handled big Marv like a champ.
The first time Wilson put Creed on his aas with a bull rush.
Was that Wilson? I thought it was someone else.
I’m pretty sure it was Wilson.
Went back and looked, wasn’t Wilson.
You’re right is was Corey Durden.
Wow!!! What a beast
instead of stone cold we can call him stone wall LOL
That is a really nice look from Creed right there. Looked real strong in his core and upper torso.
At about the 5:50 mark Walker Little gave K’Lavon a couple tall glasses of Settle Down. Ha! Happens from time to time when you are going best on best. Still want K’Lavon in Norman.

??
I have know idea who he is , i checked out his twitter page and saw a OU related header.
Think its Wilsons coach he goes to
I believe the coach that brought the kids from Houston to visit schools
Is he the coach for the Men’s Gymnastics team in Rio. OU coach or former coach?
No, Mark Williams is @wellsgymn
He does something with D-linemen and he’s from Houston…… Sounds promising.
https://twitter.com/KeganOUUpdated/status/762772010497826816
OK, everyone start speculating!!!!!!
I speculate that since it says “not three” that we will get 4 commitments this week!!
I don’t follow on Twitter. So here’s my questions
1. Worth the follow?
2. Are they usually correct at least with the majority of what they predict or know?
It’s usually good. Connections with students close to the program I believe.
Thanks Ray! I’ll follow them and if they’re right that’d be a hell of a week
I use Twitter for all my different news feeds. Sports, Politics. Etc. You will usually see it on Twitter before tv. Just make sure that it is a reliable source.
I’ll just stick with TFB here and let you that have twitter bring it to us. Everybody that contributes to this site makes it even more worthwhile to come here. So thank you to whomever puts twitter on here. Awesome job!!!!
Does this include Rising, Creed, and Blankeship?
Don’t cOUnt the eggs, just the chickens!!! More to come! 🙂
It’s Kenneth Murray Booming on Wednesday.
Dan Cody II…..
https://twitter.com/Boomer145/status/762786622245044225
Sterling Sheppard won the starting job at NYG.
No doubt there, Cruz isn’t coming back fast enough and Eli’s been targeting Shep alot.
I cant wait to watch young Shep. I wish Kenny Stills was on a better team and a QB who could get him the ball.
Deserved.
Good news. That’s like a boom as well. Thanks!
Wow! Shepard.
I hate the Giants and I might hate them even more now because I know Shep will be killing my ”boys on the field.
I follow “De Raiders” and OU players. Do not care who wins, just want Shep to have an awesome game!
love the giants and any sooner in the NFL

https://twitter.com/HamiltonESPN/status/762783700685819906
It’s anywhere from 3rd to 5th depending on which site.
If Wilson or Rogers and Okudah comes, No. 1 Class baby!
Just goes to show how well some of those other schools are recruiting. OU couldn’t be more excited about this class, and on some sites, it’s just outside the top 5. That surprised me.
Blankenship a True Junior this fall?
I think so since Jordan predicts a red shirt.
Do you have a more credible source?
Let me give Deano a call.
While you’re at it, give Traber a call, too.
Mondays are usually the worst day, but pushes it to number one this week!!
We need offer Adrian Wolford and deal a death blow to Texas A&M’s Oline class
The problem with that is A&M is our AAA club. Just like when we got Murray from A&M and had to send Knight down, we might also have to send an OL down to the minors to make a spot. Not sure we need to do that with any of the ones we currently have.
It can be “a player to be named later” that goes to aggie – perhaps a 3-way trade where a texsa player goes to aggie and a Tulsa U kid goes to texsa.
Yeah, but isn’t Texsa Bailer’s AAA club. Look at all the players they just sent down.
Sure, but Texsa is easily confused – like money laundering, we run a player through a couple of spots and wham – he looks good to texsa 🙂
I had to eat supper. Anymore booms? lol
Wow…leave work at 4 with no news and just walked in the door and it appears we have been busy. After the kid goes to bed it looks like I’ll have the olympics and some reading/catching up to do! SoonerSquad17 doing it again! Who got next!
Would like to hear an update on Hines. Adding him, Chaisson and Okudah and/or Marvin would make this the best defensive class in a long time.
Adding those guys would probably complete the class.
Hines, chaisson, Okudah and Phillips would complete the class for me. Add in Manning or Lewis and you can “stick a fork in this class, cuz it’s done!”
We need some more beef on that dline , Rodgers and Conliffe would complete my list.
We really don’t though. I mean sure for the class it would look good, but we’ve got a lot of youth at the position between Bledsoe, Q, Lampkin and others. It sounds as if the coaches are applying big beefy athletic guys rather than a traditional 3/4 DT. Sure we all want Wilson or Rogers, but I really wouldn’t be upset if we didn’t end up with a DT only because I know the 18 class would consist of 3-4 and the rest of our class is absolutely loaded.
I really like Rodger and Conliffe. I still think we have a legit shot at both of them , we just need to get them on campus. My list of remaining prospects i want are Joesph Lewis , Cesar Ruiz , Greg Rodgers , Elijah Conliffe , Anthony Hines , Kevin Chaisson , Jason Phillips and Jeffrey Okudah. If we have extra room Baron Browning, Marvin Wilson , Jaylon Johnson.
With the way the youngins are coming along it won’t be doom and gloom if we don’t get one. K said earlier that this year’s dt class is down. Just not many to throw your hat in the ring for.
I dont rememebr who it was but I remember a poster BLASTING the staff because Creed was heading out if state. Just gotta be patient sometimes. Recruting is a rollercoaster ride.
I was certainly disappointed but the staff has really outdone themselves all year long.
I think we got a bit lucky. I think Creed saw the writing on the wall about the staff at aTm, and knew if he waited to see if they got fired after this season, there likely wouldn’t be a spot at OU. Hate getting a kid for that reason, but I’m hopeful it works out, and Creed is certainly talented.
I remember it being discussed earlier, but I saw on OU Daily that Jordan Thomas’ status is still uncertain for the season opener per Stoops.
Yes that’s what Stoops said however let’s be honest, they know how much they need him for Houston. I’d bet he plays.
Need him vs Houston? Houston is a run the ball team and Ward uses his legs far more than passing. Thomas, while is needed for many other games this season, this would not be one of them. This is not taking anything from Houston as it will be a tough game as Ward is very good.
I think with Thomas in the game you can put him on an island and cheat a bit to stop the run and help the other corner otherwise you are looking at 2 new starting corners and having to play it a little more straight up!
You are right. Having the lockdown corner allows our safeties to help out more.
We definitely need him JR, he’s a vital piece to this defense and he’s lock down.
I’d rather have him against Ohio State, TCU, TT, and OSU. Maybe even WVU.
https://twitter.com/BrandonTFB/status/762810874394390528
I’m guessing Hines or Chaisson later in the week to go with Murray on Wed?
I am feeling more than just a little blessed at this point. Just waiting on it!
I’m loving life. This feels great. I went on a pleasant walk with my wife and come back to see this.
Sounds like a great evening. I am really liking the class of these kids coming in.
OU’s OL is going to be nasty.
Bedenboom is getting it done! Glad to see his hard work showing up.
I need a OU football natty in my life Sooner rather than later! I was 10 during our last one and that’s just too long!
I have a feeling we are really, really close right now. These next 2 classes are going to keep us in the hunt for OUr next 1 for the next few years. Life is Good!
I mean we did go 11-2 off skill players alone, so yeah, I think we are real close.
I was 10 during a natty also, it just wasn’t the most recent. lol.
Well, I was 10 Months when BUD was his first. Barry won his first the very first year after I LEFT Norman.
I am kind of like you, I was 53 when OU won their last NC. I would certainly like to see a couple more while I can still remember!
Them boys will get it done for you Gary! I believe!
I like your thinking.. OU is getting there and Sooner rather than later.
I was 1… :/
Childhood memories!
You just have to live longer – too impatient. Bud’s happened before I was 10 and Barry’s happened after I left Norman.
BUT I will agree it has been waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long since the last one!
I was in school during the Landry jones era, patience is now a virtue of mine thanks to him.
I feel you, Vegas. I’d take a championship every year until I got bored of it.
10? I was 6, imagine how I feel. I barely even remember the game.
It’s brutal my dude. At 10 I certainly didn’t watch that game live and I’d be lying if I said I did. It sucks. The first OU game I went to was because my dad was given tickets to the RRR game and OU rolled Texsa then the following year my little league football team was the Sooners and it was a wrap after that!
Well, I guess I have that on you; my dad and I watched the game live (I do remember having to ask him why our punter dived on the ball in the endzone b/c I didn’t really understand the rules yet). I have yet to make it to the RRR though, so I’m certainly jealous, but I was at the 77-0 TAM , ’08 Tech, and whichever Bedlam it was where Clay rumbled into the endzone for the win in OT, so I’ll take it.
08 was my first year on campus and that Texas Tech game was insane! Lol. That OT game at home against the pukes was crazy. I almost left that game to drive to Dallas for a laker game that my friend had tickets to, I’m glad I stayed for the OU game. I’ve gone to 6 RRR games and they’ve all be awesome. It’s an experience like no other and you need to go asap. Second best atmosphere was the ND game in the freezing cold ( still can’t believe we lost ) because of game day and the striped stadium. Honestly though, that Tennesee game last season was one of the most exciting games I’ve ever seen mainly because we were the road team and shutting up 95k fans was great lol.
My brother was at that ND game. I wasn’t able to watch it live, but he’s always felt we were robbed of that one. And yeah, it’s a life goal to make it to the RRR, just need to find a way to make it. Completely agree about the Tenn game. At the time, the girl I was dating, and her whole family, were Tenn fans, so that felt especially sweet to me lol.
I think Chaisson is leaning more towards LSU but we will see.
Lord have mercy on the rest of the nation.
With 17 commits now it’s to the point where all the booms that are left are all going to be big. Reserve your spot Hines, Okudah, Jacobs, Chaisson, Gumbs, Wilson, Rogers, Lewis, Manning.
Why should they panic? They can go to better and championship schools in the SEC!
-Stephen Dale.
Watch out – Sam will hit the ignore and Metz will get his llama on you with that kind of talk…
HWMNBN, I thought I blocked you. LOL!
Speaking of SD. Whatever happened to him?
Too much good news, he’ll be back when something bad happens.
Not that any of us are complaining or curious enough to go looking.
THAT’s the smart answer –
Darkness cannot live where there is light. 🙂
I think it’s more turn on the light and the cockroaches go into hiding.
Well said sir!
He changed his name to David Yancey
Gotta say, that’s darn funny.

Hmmmmmmmm
What does the 17 mean
Class o’ 17
2017 recruiting
Well I know we have 17 commits now too.
Yea, but I think it is more for the class of ’17 more than anything.
Sweet
This might be the biggest week in OU recruiting ever.
YOU ain’t kiddin’!

They go full sucketh all the time. They wanted to add some flavor.
Is this about something that happened? Or just in general
A UT fan who kept on trying to “convince” Tyrese Robinson that texsa was better than OU. Basically just being obnoxious and salty
Texsa fans are just toxic as the gaggies now.
On another note…..
ROFLMAO!
Who da heck is Grant Blankenship please?
A 6’5 278 DE who started and played in some big games like against USC. Had a tackle for loss. Violated team rules. From Colony, Texas. Also was one the top 100 players out of high school according to 247.
I’ve read the rule violation was falling below the academic standard at ND but have no solid evidence of that.
Maybe. But some say he had trouble with mentally focusing on the field.

Linky no worky. Separate the field- from the https
What Bob said, no work.
Could be more than one story with this kid, hope it works for him…and us.
He has to sit for a year, so they should have a good idea of any issues by the time he has a chance to play.
4* DE out of texsa, signed with ND, left, now a Sooner as a Junior.
We are getting a little closer to gameday and was wondering who was going to the game in Houston. Get pumped!!!!
I will be there. If you are going you can get a parking pass in advance by calling the Texans ticket office. cost is $25 in advance $30 on game day. I’m in red lot on north side of stadium.
My sister is down there and I believe she already got one. I’ll be heading down on Thursday before the game. She lives on the west side of Houston just east of 820.
Awesome. Should be a fun time.
Oh yea. Can’t wait.

Chaisson liked the tweet as well.
Who is Saucy?
Cesar Ruiz I believe
Cesar Ruiz number 1 center in the country.
He may be ranked #1 but we got who I personally preferred. I’d rather have a kid who grew up a sooner fan.
Both Cesar and Creed are both very versatile. I can see one of them playing center and the other playing guard.
We need the beef. Fat boys will not be turned down.
Caesar Ruiz, might be too late
Never too late….until it’s too late.

One of those guys will not be moving to offense.
Funny you say that…Jordan Thomas had 2 picks against OSU (1 for a pick 6). So… Lol!

Lol
247sports has a post up on the ND transfer and in first sentence they give credit to TFB. Nice job guys.

A little help, here, please:
Anyone know where I might find a 1970’s style Switzer coaching shirt?
http://sportsradiointerviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/barry-switzer.jpg
Barry’s closet?
Lol, I have been looking all over for one too. If you find where, let me know. There’s a hat out there but it is nothing compared to this shirt.
This is the closest I’ve found, but it is not that close.

That shirt was meant only for Barry Switzer. Your best bet would be to buy an open collared polo and have someone embroider and or screen print.
Ooh, look what I found on YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OksPtixkCLQ
That is a great video, worth the watch for anyone who hasn’t seen it.
Haven’t seen it for a long time – loved it when the vids first came out!
Glad we got creed glad we got cd back glad ss17 is doing work.
So only o line targets left would be Filiaga, Zabie, and Ealy for one tackle spot correct?
Excellent group. Not sure which one to take. Flip a coin-couldn’t go wrong on any of them.
I like Zabie, whoever it may be best move fast.
Did you see where Zabie can’t play his senior year?
Yea, but I did forget about that though
Injury?
It was discussed last week I think, transfer rules…so lost a year.
Which if those 3 u like most kj?
I think more Ealy, may be cool on Filiaga.
Creed is # 17 for the class of ’17.
Not much room for this class.
Who will be the next?
Several possibilities and none of them would disappoint me.
Really getting exciting for football season. The wife and I went up to Colorado for a few days over Friday, Sat., Sunday. All of a sudden it’s Rising, Humphrey, and Blankenship (transfer).
Been a good week so far.
Another weekend road trip this weekend?
If it was up to the wife it would be a permanent trip. Oh wait a minute I see what you meant.
We were in Denver the same days – visiting a sick OU college buddy, our daughter, and my brother. I was out of the usual TFB loop until Sunday night, so it was quite the Monday. If things slow this week, I too better take another road trip. If it heats up like the tweet rumors, maybe we are not the talismans after all 🙂
Anything to help the team. We were up in Loveland, Estes Park, and Castle Rock.
Is it football time yet?
26 more days

That’s good stuff.
Living here in Houston with Aggie relatives and friends, this is damn funny.
This just in: Aggie saltiness has reached dead sea levels. This is a new record.
Good night, all. I will go to bed and dream of BOOMS!!
Great job TFB Mods. Excellent work with all of the news you’ve brought to us today.
Thanks for the giving up time with your family for us knuckleheads.
Come on man….
https://twitter.com/dyanceyd/status/762792394203009024
That guy is an idiot. He’s been attacking the hell out of our recruits.
Geez Im sure some if not alot of UT fans would not approve.
I already DM him, he’s nothing but a sad troll.
LOL yep
Much worse than sad, can’t believe some of the things he has said.
I am guessing he is very young, because his knowledge of football history is very bad
What is funny to me is he quotes scripture from Psalms about throwing burdens on God on Twitter account but obviously he doesn’t practice what he preaches. Sad some people turn to this with young people
I think our team that cheated most was the one lead be DRoyal.
Love getting top Oklahoma talent. Something about being raised by crimson. Jermaine Gresham and Sam Bradford were 1st round draft picks who turned down millions to return to their school to win a title.
We all know they were sidelined for a sh!t season but I’m positive they would forever commit to the opportunity to come back for a title. Jason White gave all of his knees to the pursuit. Hell Billy Sims is from Texas and Billy would OJ OJ for a chance to win a title for the Sooners.
I’m just excited to see a class so stoked to be Sooners.
Anyone have info on the ND transfer? What do we know about him? Scrolled but could not find anything. thanks
There are some links down there somewhere, what do you want to know?
Loves long walks on the beach….and smashing dudes in the face
ND suspended him last spring for “violation of team rules”. Dunno what rules of course, so I’m lamesauce.
