Nine Sooners Named To Preseason All-Big 12 Team

The Big 12 Conference announced their Preseason All-Big 12 football team Wednesday morning as voted on by the media, and the University of Oklahoma led the league with nine selections.

RB Samaje Perine
TE Mark Andrews
OL Orlando Brown
DL Charles Walker
LB Jordan Evans
DB Steven ParkerDB Jordan Thomas
P Austin Seibert
Somewhat surprisingly Kansas State with five had the second most selections behind the Sooners.
Additionally, Mayfield was selected as the preseason Offensive Player of the Year among some pretty stiff competition. Texas LB Malik Jefferson and TCU QB Kenny Hill were named preseason defensive player of the year and newcomer of the year, respectively.
The Big 12 media preseason poll will be announced on Thursday.

Certainly not both 1st team, but probably someone has done 1st and 2nd/ 3rd team

I looked up the 2008 team, and murray was 1st team, brown was honorable mention. There was no 3rd team that year, just 1 and 2. think brown would probably have been 3rd team if there was one.

I think perine gets 1st team and mixon 2nd. Going to be hard for mixon to have as many yards as warren from ISU, that kid is a really good back.

Malik Jefferson is going to be a problem this year. One of the key’s to the UT game will be neutralizing him
Make him cover Andrews or Mixon in space.

He runs a true (laser-timed) 4.37 40 and has a faster shuttle than most corners. I don’t think covering will be a problem for him.
Misdirection. It’s football son, he will certainly impact the game but there are ways to neutralize certain positions.
Would like to OU utilize a lot more misdirection this season.

I’d like to see Seibert win Punter and Place Kicker. It also wouldn’t surprise me to see DeDe on that list at the end of the year.
I feel as if Jordan Evans should have been on the 1st team at LB.
Last year, if K State had a QB that could hit a WR, they would have had a better record.
