Tulsa Memorial standout 2017 DE/OLB Isaiah Thomas became the most recent member of the Sooners’ 2017 class when he made his commitment to the University of Oklahoma official.
While many an OU fan had anticipated Thomas’ commitment, there were several other schools that made a legitimate push in recent months. However, the winning tradition at Oklahoma and a chance to stay in-state, close to family and friends, ultimately won out for OU.
We’ve featured Thomas on TFB many times, but for those who may need a quick refresher check out his film below.
As evidenced in his film, Thomas is a big, dynamic athlete capable of quickly getting up the field and creating havoc in the backfield. Playing with his hand in the dirt, or standing up, you see him move fluidly out in space making plays five, sometimes ten yards down the field.
In addition to his raw athleticism and versatility, at 6’5″ 230+ Thomas already has the size Oklahoma is now looking for in front seven prospects and the frame to easily add good weight once he’s in a D-I strength program.
Needless to say a solid addition to OU’s 2017 class, whose momentum train just keeps on rollin’ right along.

BOOM BABY!!! Welcome Mr.Thomas!!!
I hope this inspires a few more guys to pull the trigger so they don’t lose their seat on the train. Addison Gumbs, it is time to join SoonerSquad17. As Johnny Olson would’ve said, “Addison Gumbs…cone on down!”
Welcome to the good guys, Mr. Thomas. Nothing but the best for the next 4 years.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOOMER welcome to OU——————
Where’s Metz?
Drinking too much at his house lol.
He’s needs to show up daily. If I should ever lift his probation, he needs to present to claim his prize. LOL!
Stalking Cheryl somewhere.
Dang! He needs to give that up.
Sam, poor Metz needs some kind of hobby to keep him out of Bob’s liquor cabinet 🙂
Poor Bob.
My goodness. That is a joy.
BOOM!, keep’em coming squad 17!
Sooner Ray, what’s up? Isn’t this good news?
It’s awesome! Been waiting on it, now I can head to a cookout for the rest of the day. 🙂
I mowed the the yard yesterday. I’m going to have a long weekend.
Rivals shows the 2017 class #2.
Glad to get him, was kinda worried the Sooners would miss out on him.
Zeke!! Boom!
KJ! What are we getting in this kid in your eyes? A lot of people seem really excited about him.
Hey Matt. First obviously is size. Moves well at that size. Hes much better standing up than his hand in the dirt. Part of that is because his stance needs some work. Kids are taught to stay low in their stance without actually teaching them the right stance. Hes got good ball awareness and some nice explosiveness. Id love to see him stay in a stand up and just be a monster rushung the passer. Reminds me a little of K. Mann. I dont know if he plays hoops but he looks like he has that type of movement skills. Very nice pickup imo.
That was my opinion exactly, he seemed to move more like a BB player, than a FB player.
Awesome! If nothing else, a good foundational player it sounds like
KJ, great assessment. He does look like he’s accustom to working in tight spaces.
That’s a big cat. Looooooooong cat.
Striker quickness, but bigger, longer as you say.
And he may have another inch in him. He’s just 17?
At 6’4″ 230 and skinny looking, looks and moves like a point guard.
He could carry 250-260 easily on that frame.
Absolutely, I think he probably could put on as you say 10-20 of muscle and not loose any speed.
Right on! Another stellar in state talent and another addition to SS17. Boomer!
Sooner!
Good pick up for the good guys!!
Another very good pick up
Boomer Sooner! 2017 is laying some serious groundwork for defensive dominance for years to come
Boom.
Love them local boys. BOOM!
Been too long Denzel!
Love them 918 Booms.

I didn’t move from #405 for my health… 😉
BOOM!!! OU, huh? Hope no one is too disappointed Isaiah didn’t choose ‘Bama … as some *cough SD *cough … predicted.
Soooooooooooooooooooome doomers er…folks are just meant to be disappointed 🙂
BOOM!!!
Boom! welcome aboard
Boom! Love the the fact we have committed to the “flex” 3-4, and where actually bringing in photo typical size athletes.
Yeah they do look good in pictures! LOL! “photo typical” Damn auto correct!
It has to be back in the Switzer days that we had a class this good this early in the process.Signing day is still over 8 months away and this class is unbelievable and with their closeness I only expect it to get better with very few decommitments. BOOMER!
SOONER!
What a great day for a BBBOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!!!!!!
Late to the show, but WELCOME Mr. Thomas! You are part of an EPIC class. Help yOUr fellow 2017ers have the BEST class ever!
Holla
Where has STD been lately? He’s missing a lot of expert predictions this off season…………….
Beetle Juice!
Recruiting has been good. Tennis team great, Gymnastics teams winning NCs Womens softball kicking butt. Not too much foder for SD. No worries as soon as someone decommits he’ll be back.
Bama doesn’t waist scholly offers on anyone. They must think he’s big time good…as do our coaches. Let’s just say we got our 11th 4* commit today. By the end of next season he’ll be one of those elite rated guys. ESPN.com recruiting database doesn’t even have a scout report on Isaiah yet. Shows you how players still can really slip through the cracks.
I’m sure ESPN will have something on him pretty soon too. If he had committed to Bama they would have probably already had a write up.
If Bama had him in their sights from the beginning he would have been on espn’s radar.
Kid has an insane first step! Great athlete and fast, especially for a big man. I’m willing to bet he concussed several of those kids with some of those hits he was laying down. Great get for the Sooners.
