Morning, Brainiacs, and Boomer Sooner!
Mornin.
Morning!
Good morning!
BOOMER!!! Ready for some ball tomorrow!!!
SOONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice to see a BOOM!
The weekend OP is up! Isn’t that a nice surprise?
So ready. I need some football in my life
Spring game is a nice halfway point in the interminable wait of the offseason. Can’t get here soon enough!
SOONER!!! I am beyond ready.
everybody will be wearing flags on their unis….its touch football tomorrow in hopes of avoiding injuries………
Three things:
1. Morning, TFBers
2. If you’re not a night owl you missed a late BOOM! last night.
3. Baylor! Baylor! Baylor! How long? Not long! Why would you send your kid there?
Morning, Sam. That Boom was sweet. Baylor is a cesspool.
Yes, it is. I don’t know if Briles will survive this. I wonder what he tells his recruits.
How does he spin this to a recruit’s parents? That’s mind boggling.
Buddy, that is a very good point. I would suspect their school’s overall attendance is taking a hit. I think someone posted that Baylor has six commits, to date. That could be why they are not getting commitments.
Do you truly believe that this impacts the thinking of the type of playahs Broyles recruits? Are you unacquainted with the supernatural ability of the core Baylor constituency to delude themselves regarding the activities and consequences of their off-spring (and themselves for that matter)?
ITs all about the money paid by the Baylor handlers and the volume of lawyers on the payroll to make the charges go away…….
” Don’t get caught” but , if you do, contact the Baylor president cause he’s had plenty of experience in dealing with abuse cases…..
I don’t have an answer but parents across the country can’t wait to send their precious daughters to Waco or Austin . Guess they don’t think their daughters will fall victim to the athletes on either campus.
True. But as far as football is concerned, OU has the no 2 class so far. Football players seem to want to go to OU before Waco and Austin.
Good morning Sooners! Nice Boom last night. Let’s make sure we get a W tomorrow at the spring game
Morning, Magic. I have my DVR set to record.
BOOMER BOOM!!!!!____________
Good Morning, Doc!
SOONER! BOOM!!!
Good morning Sam BOOMER!!!!1
SOONER!!!
Well, well, well Ken Starr. Karma IS a bitch after all. Slick Willie and the taxpayers say, “hello”.
His university sure is leaving a stain on college athletics…

So when do the Feds step in and take over the investigations at Baylor?
Not soon enough
They are a private school, we will never know all the truth. And Baylor has proven that winning trumps everything moral
That’s why I think the FBI needs to step in.
jimintexas—-yep.
Tramel: you can never be physical enough.
Readers: as a reporter you can never understand what physical means.
It is possible to be “physical enough.”
OU was certainly “physical enough” when they beat Kansas State 55-0. And, on the wrong side, Clemson was “physical enough” to dominate the second half against OU with a number of superior athletes.
OU’s effort hasn’t typically been an issue.
The great recruiting being done right now is clearly an attempt to rectify the overall talent differential that has contributed to OU not winning some big games.
Here’s guessing OU will be more physical(athletically talented) this coming year and, if most of the commits hold, 2017 even more so.
Tramel will be the first one to chastise the coaching staff if the ‘increased physicality’ results in injury to an opponent…..one can’t win with the media..
Morning all. Happy Friday. BOOMER!
SOONER! Morning, woof.
Somebody needs to post a gif of Oakman getting manhandled and watching helplessly.
The FPI machine is drunk.
Uncle Ken sounds a little creepy. That’s all I took away from the article on Baylor.
I think OU will unleash its now three-headed monster (Perine, Mixon, Anderson) against Houston and pound them into submission. Rack up first downs, pile on the yards, control the clock, and leave town with a big-ass W.
I’d be happy with a 1 point win in that game.
YES—-and everybody healthy and pointed toward the tOSU game…..
Baylor, just rape University. Seriously what a scummy school. What kind of culture are they promoting down there?
Knowing Starr, he probably was thumping a Bible at his press conference and quotting some passage on woman subservience.
probably so…………..
yeah, i think its a conservative, baptist thing. rape is no big deal and its her fault anyway. that seems to be how they think down there.
Just another reason why I can’t stand them.
I’m no fan of Baylor myself, but I doubt anybody there is promoting rape. Obviously those in charge need to quit jacking around and get a grasp on the situation or resign, but to call the whole school scummy is a little over the top. But we are allowed to disagree so I respect your opinion.
I think the only real sticking point with me is the way they have handled things after the fact. They (Baylor) haven’t seemed real interested in investigating charges made by the women. But that’s just me. And I respect your opinion and understand your point as well.
Their alumni squashed the press until the last 2 months. If you look at how they handled the case with the female athlete, it was immoral besides systematically thumbing their nose at Title IX. They don’t promote rape. They let the players know they will do everything within their powers to squash it and punish the females.
I’m not saying they handled it well by any means, in fact they handled it about as bad as possible. My point was that the whole University wasn’t complicit and the majority of the students/faculty are more than likely decent people.
A lot of denial and don’t want to talk about it. The female athlete who was raped got 0 support from those decent people. Those decent people will not acknowledge it happened. She claims she was a virgin. Those decent people told her that if she did not want to still be in the lab with her rapist, she had to change class. That means those decent administrators broke the law to protect their FB player. Again I know and go to church with dozens of Baylor supporters. Have never heard one of those decent people state the girl existed. They hired a men’s BB coach who was a known cheater and would still be cheating there if one of his players had not of killed someone. Those decent people have the most caustic and foul-mouthed female BB coach in the league. But those decent people are OK with that because she wins. Decent people own up to problems and fix them. Baylor has a multi-year, multi-sport history of win at any cost.
I get it, you hate Baylor and everybody who likes them. They are ALL guilty. Let’s move on.
I don’t. I do take 4 convictions of rape by two players, before this latest came out, as something serious. I would hate to see OU sweeping it under the rug, over years of time. These girls lives are just as important as any football players. Every school has lots of decent people. I did not say they are all guilty. I say they don’t want to address it and fix something that is not new.
I think we are saying the same thing, just in different ways. Those held responsible need to be dealt with severely, but the whole university isn’t guilty. I have two little girls, so obviously this hits close to home for me. I just didn’t like the fact that the op lumped in the whole university, that would be like calling all of OU racist for that stupid chant by a fraternity. Obviously the higher ups and the OU community as a whole handled their situation much better, which is just one more reason to be a proud alumnus.
I am good with that. My son looked at Baylor and decided it just was not him. That was before all this stuff. I live in Texas and lots of friends who’s kids go to Baylor. As someone who has a significant portion of family which went there, I am personally disappointed in their response to the girl. My disappointment in that part of my family’s response causes an over reaction from me.
I don’t know how well I would have handled it, if that had been my daughter being told that the hospital results were not something the school cared about or she had to be the one who changed class or she was told she didn’t have a scholarship available anymore. I can’t imagine someone doing that to my child.
I 100% agree with you. It was horrible and I too lost tons of respect for that institution and would not allow my girls to attend there with the current leadership. Hopefully your son found a great school and loves it!
Domination against females and physical abuse for those uncompliant……
Barton Simmons is kind of a douche.
Obviously one who did not do any research.
Hes always been like that…just spoutin off like a goof.

“LOS ANGELES, CA (March 28, 2016) – The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced the 2016 John R. Wooden Award® All-Americans on a 30-minute show on ESPNU today (8 pm EDT). Selected by nearly 1,000 national college basketball media members and the Award’s former winners, the All-American team is made up of ten student-athletes who were the top vote-getters in the quest to earn college basketball’s most prestigious honor. The ten-player team consists of, alphabetically, Grayson Allen (Duke), Malcolm Brogdon (Virginia), Kris Dunn (Providence), Perry Ellis (Kansas), Yogi Ferrell (Indiana), Buddy Hield (Oklahoma), Brice Johnson (North Carolina), Georges Niang (Iowa State), Tyler Ulis (Kentucky), and Denzel Valentine (Michigan State). The five players who are invited to Los Angeles are Brogdon, Hield, Johnson, Ulis and Valentine.”
good luck to Buddy but watch out for Valentine. One of those two is the likely winner.
Im glad sporting news said after sitting out a year following a suspension, regarding Mixon. Instead of bringing up that stuff again. Just moving forward.
thought the exact same thing!
KJ after seeing McGinnis in that video sticking with Mixon, it’s hard to believe people around the program view him as never being able to contribute at backer… Is he really that bad?
According to the article, he is doing well and getting the bulk of the reps because of Jordan’s injury.
Not bad….just have guys who are better at this point imo. Dont forget too Joe is as big if not bigger than most backers. Probably couldnt keep up with Rodney, Ross, Brooks…
man I get that but Joe is an elite athlete. He doesn’t seem to have the top end speed of Ross but he’s probably a lot quicker.
Joe’s Sparq time as a Sr. was 4.53. Not Demarco speed, but pretty good for a 210 lb-er at the time.
agreed
Those songs were from early 2000s = im definitely old.
KJ, you’re not old until you confess the “songs” you loved in HS/College were from Three Dog Night, Doobie Bros., Boston, Kansas, etc.
I love thise groups…classics. I think my great grandpa had all those albumns. /s
I was very glad to see the /s at the end. 🙂 I have actually gone to some of those concerts, when they were on top. (I even remember 1 or 2 of the concerts)
Me too. I feel old.
I was down in Waco for a Nike Coach of the Year Clinic and got to hear Coach Briles speak. He made a jab at you concerning OU when Stoops ran off the field holding up a number 1. That upset him. Also while I was down there, I got hit by an egg. So I don’t like Waco especially after that encounter. Black Tahoe with Texas plates, it happend on the night of St. Patrick’s Day. Still pissed but Boomer!
That’s one hell of a five-head Cryles is sporting these days.
I don’t like Baylor and I don’t like Shawn Oakman, but I’m not going to label him a rapist until all the information about the case is out and I can look at both sides and come to my own conclusion.
Shelby, I applaud your even-handed and open-minded stance. However, I would urge you to separate Oakman’s case from that of Baylor in general.
While Oakman’s case deserves a fair hearing and a presumption of innocence, however much the guy may be a jerk and dirty player, Baylor’s case has pretty much gotten to the point where conclusions can be drawn.
What conclusions? Well, first that Baylor has failed to fairly, promptly and properly (in a legal sense) acknowledge and investigate serious allegations against its athletes. Second, that the school has participated in obstruction of justice through intentional delay and failure to provide critical evidence to law enforcement. Third, that the school has participated in obstruction of justice through attempts to silence and intimidate plaintiffs and witnesses. Forth, that the school has knowingly and by prior intent thus violated the spirit and letter of Title IX.
There may be other failings on the part of Baylor as an institution, but the above are now beyond any reasonable doubt and can be documented through nothing more intrusive than a skimming of newspapers of public record.
I agree with everything you are saying, and I know I have my own thoughts about this, at the same time we shouldn’t jump to conclusions until everything is said and done.
Saying that though, Baylor seemly keeps digging itself in a larger and larger hole with all this coming out.
I have separated them. I’m not going to judge Oakman’s case based off of any mishandling of cases from Baylor in the past. I’m going to wait for information and come to my own conclusion.
As for Baylor and the other cases, I admit I haven’t paid much attention to them nor have I looked into them, because of that I’m not going to give my opinion on it, which is why my initial comment is about Oakman’s case and not the previous incidents at Baylor.
we’re good. i’m just po’d at baylor sliding, so I make the case wherever I can
I’d agree with you but Oakman was seen as a ‘high risk’ prospect. Bill O’Brien booted him amid PSU’s larger scandal after a woman caught Oakman trying to steal a sandwich. It would stand to reason that his confrontation with her — the 6’9 lineman admits to grabbing her wrist in order to get his card back — concerned the coaching staff more than the sandwich itself.
So baylor, south carolina, arizona and michigan state have better recruiting staffs? Right………..
Wheres the OP? The NCAA shut that down too?
KJ=1. NCAA=0.
it was put up last night…
Ah I see it. They changed the heading on me.
I’m guessin’ the guys are probably cooking something up for tomorrow afternoon, with the Spring game and all the croots coming in.
That stupid rule seems to be nothing less than an attempt to keep non SEC and ACC schools, out of the southeast. Sabin pushed that one through.
This is a Jordan retweet.
