2016 JUCO LB Kapri Doucet Commits To Oklahoma

After weather forced 2016 LB Kapri Doucet to cancel his previously planned visit to Norman this weekend, the JUCO prospect evidently decided the change of plans would not affect where he planned to play next season.

Doucet fills an immediate need for the Sooners at linebacker following the loss of Dom Alexander and the general inexperience at the position OU is returning. Doucet also rejoins his JUCO teammate, OL Ashton Julious, who is already enrolled and on campus.

Looks like he could do either but shows some decent zone coverage in the middle of the field.
I like him inside, the fact that he can flat out run from sideline to sideline is a huge plus. Hes got cover skills too.

Agreed. My one complaint about Dom was that he seemed to get pushed back when he tackled sometimes.

I don’t think any hs guys were expected to replace the early departure of Dom. Most guys need a redshirt at least. Dom was an exception. They will insert whomever is assignment sound imo. What he lacked in physicality he made up for in being in the right spots
Wonder who they are earmarking to take his spot then, assuming we dont move back to the 4-3.
My guess would be Tay or Bolton. They have been in the system the longest. Last years class was mainly OLBs. Some of the fresh will no doubt have a shot (like I said, Dom did it) but you don’t like to have true fresh come in and have to start right away (especially with our early schedule)

Kid looks like a combo of Bond/Dom and definitely seems to read and diagnose a play fast. He could easily win a starting spot next season and I could definitely see him thriving in our scheme. Loved the fake FG/XP where he ran it in as a holder. Presumably he does hold otherwise that was some horrific defending of a possible fake.

This page looks like it needs some Sooner Love- I’m pretty excited about this kid as well.
Size check, sideline to sideline speed check, instinctive in the ability to diagnose a play early check, PHYSICALITY check, this kid has it all. In the end he might get forgotten when Kelly signs the dotted line, but come this fall he could be a difference maker or a starter. Providing the speed and size to play in space, plus the killer instincts to come down hill up the A gap and stone a rb in his tracts.
Did he actually kick the ball then also make the down field tackle !!!! (Around 5min mark)
His speed, power, and ability to slip through the “wash” jumps out big time.
