Ohio State Transfer, Austin Grandstaff, Commits To Oklahoma

Lon Kruger and staff have picked up a commitment from now former Ohio State guard Austin Grandstaff, who is in Norman this weekend for a visit.
BREAKING: Ohio State transfer Austin Grandstaff has committed to Oklahoma, sources told @CBSSports.

Grandstaff is a 6’4″ freshman guard who is known as a sharp-shooter, something the Sooners will certainly be looking to replace next year once Buddy Hield moves on to the NBA. There are other aspects to his game that he’s still working to improve, but if there’s anyone in the game who can help him maximize on that it’s Kruger.
Grandstaff should be eligible to play starting in January 2017.

Did he redshirt this year while at TOSU
I think he had some limited playing time. Think it was maybe a case of homesickness which I am very grateful.

He will redshirt this semester and the first semester of next season. He’ll be able to play the Jan – March part of the schedule next year, which will be the end of his redshirt sophomore year.
Holy heck he has a smooth shooting rhythm. Seemed like half his highlight was from one game where he apparently destroyed them single handedly. Wonder what his stat line looked like that game. Looks Like a weapon. Awesome we can now secure that kind of talent.

He played sparingly at tOSU but was unhappy about the minutes supposedly. My personal opinion (not worth much) is that he was probably a little homesick.

So, will he be a sophomore when he is eligible?
He played at tOSU this season so yeah he would be a soph. If he enrolls before the Spring semester starts then he should be eligible to play next January

With that stroke I’m surprised that he’s only a 33% shooter behind the Arc. Of course Woodard was only a 25% shooter from 3 last yr. and look at him now. I hope this kid is ready to come in a work his butt off. Keep that gym rat mentality going under Coach L.K.
