You may or may not remember this from last year, but you all are pretty smart so I doubt you’ll have much trouble grasping the concept.
I’ll throw out some suggestions in terms of predictions for the weekend, as always feel free to ignore them, then you all can have at it in the comments with your best guess to those and/or offer up some predictions of your own.

Would LOVE to see Ross take one to the house or at least get a real good one. Sooners would benefit from an OSU win in the grand scheme of things, so yes, I CAN root for them on Saturday. And then cheer like a madman when OU tears ’em up on the 28th. BOOMER!

Not rooting for OSUcks. If OU continues to dominate, regardless of what happens in Suckwater, they’ll have to be in consideration. The committee will shift the argument to make a case for their darlings. OSUcks and the Whacko Bears are the lowest of the low. And the Corn Dogs are going to provide the mortar for the new renovations.

Agreed. Hard to root for OSU. If Baylor beats them, it just makes our win in Waco that much better.

It just means we only beat one top 6 team instead of two.
I agree. If the pokes win, we get a shot at an unbeaten to cap things off. If the sows win, our win in Waco looks pretty good. Most importantly, if we keep winning, we force people to consider us for the CFP whether they want to or not.

(1) I can’t do that anymore. I try to be a good Oklahoman and be objective but OSU and their fans are just an in-state version of Baylor. I personally want OSU to be humbled because I think they are exceptionally lucky to not already have a loss or two (or three).
(2) Baylor 42 OSU 31 with the final margin coming from a late score.
Spot on with your assesment of their fans. Horrible bunch with a low football IQ, no knowledge of football besides the last 5 years and Barry Sanders, and they wear orange. Think that says it all.
I agree with the OSU fans. I can sit down and have a civilized conversation with a Texas fan in Dallas for OU/TX, but I can’t get anything like that from an OSU fan anywhere. When we win, they talk about the few times they beat OU in the past, but if they win, it’s always, “Don’t bring up the past!” Very few OSU fans I can tolerate, the rest are classless IMO.
One my closest friends is a huge OSU fan (and outside of OU v OSU is a great guy). Everytime we talk about why he doesn’t like OU it is the same answer, because the fans do whatever and act like whatever and blah blah blah but OSU fans are angels and are the best fans in all of sports.
Two years ago I was at his house for the Bedlam game. I was being polite and didn’t get mad the whole game (I go out of my way to be quiet and polite anytime I am watching a game with the other side) and barely said anything when Bell hit Saunders. I even apoligized for the little “Yes!” when it happened because I wanted to be respectful at his home.
Last year it was my turn to host. He was pissed and mouthy the whole game. He decided to leave early because he didn’t want to see an OU celebration but as he was leaving the re-kicked happened and he is jumping around my living room hooping and hollering like they just won the NC.
The problem with OSU fans is their inferiority complex with OU. They don’t sell out games (even in their smaller stadium they only sell out one or two games a year at best), they don’t get big-time recruits, they don’t have NC’s on their resume, they have never played in the biggest games, etc. but they expect to be mentioned in the same breath because of a few wins in the last 2 decades.

Poor conditioning shows up? We have had injury plagued seasons but nothing like that. Attitude is very important as well in being able and willing to play- is there an internal problem or divisiveness at TCU no one is talking about I wonder?

I know people dont want to root for OSU, but we really need them to be top 5 and undefeated to give us the best shot at the playoffs.
Think of it as rooting for the sooners via proxy =)
I’m going to differ here. To me only one scenario will not get us in (if we win out of course) and that’s if the top 3 win out and its between us and Notre Dame. Then its a toss up and I could see us in trouble. I still believe even if OSU wins this weekend that it wouldn’t change that outcome. There will be more losses in the next three weeks so as long as we take of business these next two weeks everything else will play out.
Im assuming both us and ND win out. Thats why i want OSU to win this weekend, so we finish the season with a top 5 opponent, rather than a top 10-11 opponent.
Even the smallest boost could be the difference between 4th and 5th.
I hear ya and it would for sure help’s the resume but it seems like the committee puts more weight on the loss than the quality wins. Just my opinion but even with that I don’t think they would jump us in this scenario. Like I said I believe more teams will lose so hopefully it won’t come down to where they have to choose.
Unfortunately, they are already in the lead, we are the ones who gotta make the jump.
We gotta win these next 2 games convincingly, and hopefully that + being a conference champ will be enough.
Of course, if ND could go ahead and lose to stanford, that’d be greattttt…

This is all true, of course. Honestly, we are lucky to be getting a top 10 opponent (as of right now) on the road to close out the season. Throw in a conference title, which ND can’t put on their resume, and the fact neither team has a CC game and we should be ok. That is using logic though and the committee has proven immune to such nonsense as objectivity. If we were fighting for #4 against a team with a CC game we’d be hosed already.
I agree. Beating teams that are undefeated and highly ranked at the end of the season gets much more bang for the buck than beating a one loss team and saying oh, yeah we beat the team that beat them as well. The better OSU’s record, the better we look.

Oh for sure. With TCU’s linebacker core being the way it is (for lack of a better phrase), Baker will have plenty of green grass unless they spy him.
Never, ever, ever root for a rival. There’s just something basically wrong with that. Besides they might best you and it will taste twice as bad. Take care of your own business and beat the crap out of people and the rest will follow. If your truly good, the pressure to see the best teams play will way out. And don’t think that money certain teams bring to NCAA doesn’t factor either, just like high school the teams that bring/make a lot of money for organizations get favoritism, we are talking about a lot of money.
I think he could have said it better with, I am rooting against Baylor! I am quoting someone else on that.
Whatever we call it we have to have an Undefeated Top 5 OSU team to play a 1 lose #6 or 7 OU team next weekend. If the playoff committee has half a chance they will take Notre Dame, the SEC champ, the Big 10 Champ, and choose a one loss SEC team over the BIG12 champ that is clouded by the “no true champ” label.
And TCU will sell out to stop the run. The Soonesr will be facing a very dangerous opponent this week end. Mayfield will have to produce.

I don’t think I followed the numbers right.
Back in September, while bored waiting for 1st game. I wikipedia’s every single CFP committee member and looked to see their back ground and college affiliation. From what I could tell it 4) Big 10, 3)SEC 2)Pac12. then 1ND, 1Big12, 1ACC. Jeff Long himself said the Tuesday night that the committee felt that Iowa was stronger(better) than OSU Or OU. I believe a victory over a 1 loss Baylor will look better than a 1 or 2 loss OSU. After all Baylor AND TCU have been viewed in the public eye and CFP as the better teams in college football.
I fully believe OU MUST win out and win big. Also, OSU must beat Baylor to set up a defacto title game in Bedlam. If OU could beat an undefeated OSU team, big, in Bedlam? That HAS to give them the boost needed over Iowa. Still think, even with all that, Stanford needs to beat ND.
Just remember, this committee dropped TCU from 8th to 18th for losing on the road to now 6th ranked OSU. They clearly do not respect the Big 12 and no matter how big OU wins they will use the Texas loss as the reason for ND over OU. Iowa and ND both have to lose.
Both of Ohio State and Iowa can’t finish the season undefeated.
I think it all comes down to Stanford beating ND. Just don’t see OU jumping the Irish.
