As much as I would like it to, based on previous history it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to do these for every OU b-ball game. So unless something changes, we’ll probably limit these to more of the “big” games and adjust if necessary.
As for today’s season opener, however, it could prove to be an interesting contest. Both because the Sooners are opening things on the road against a quality opponent, but also because of the new rules and how strictly the refs have been calling games thus far.
Hopefully the Sooners can get off to a good start on what figures to be a very promising season.

Boomer!
Sooner!
let’s do this biz
Boomer! The journey to the final 4 starts today… Go to work boys
nice dime from Woodard
and then a three, nice!
b.s. call
and another, that s/h/b a charge
it’ll be nice when Manyang can get in there.
+1
ball handling still an issue for Buddy I see
Buddy never has had the ball control thing down.
but that’s why you love him 😉
So, after 5 minutes I see the officials don’t really understand what a charge is. I hope it’s not like this all season
i don’t think for the most part they are ever all that good, but i do think it’s fair to say they at least get somewhat better as the season progresses
True
Waiting to watch the game after work, but it looks like the team is off to a good start
both teams a little sloppy so far, though I’m sure that’s to be expected
I’m trying to wait too but I’m excited. This beginning of Bball which happens to be in the middle of football is by far my favorite time of the year. Love it.
Memphis’ length has been a considerable problem thus far
Buford hitting the boards hard early, good sign
Buford hitting the boards hard early, good sign
16-10 OU @ U12 TO

How many teams in top 10

Tennis
great time to be a Sooner
Also softball will in at least the top 10 when ranking come out in January.
Spock help me Spock……thanks I can’t believe I forgot sftball
Live long and prosper
Sooners are getting killed by Memphis on the off. boards
Lattin w/ two early fouls now
bailout b.s ball, dude was out of control
9-4 fouls called in Memphis’ favor
OU getting screwed on these calls. what a joke.
Sad officials can be that inept.
Coaching will be the difference
18-19 @ U8 TO
Televised? Apologies for not knowing
Yep
ESPN
Thanks
watch ESPN app at your desk. lol
Haha. No I’ve been home for hours, just didn’t know what tv details were. Get faster answers here than searching tweets etc
https://twitter.com/OU_MBBall/status/666747191940268032
damn, that was pretty
Memphis looks good. Are they unranked because they are young?
That, and they had five guys transfer. So just a lot of unknown. I could be wrong, but I don’t think they were that far out of most Top 25’s
Makes sense.
BLOCK THE F OUT!!!
sigh, even when OU actually gets a rebound they fumble it out of bounds
Memphis home cooking by the refs is becoming really obvious.
love you, buddy
how the F is that not an intentional foul?!?!?!?!?
I don’t even have words for how terrible a call that is.
Hell of a look there from Spangler.
strong, aggressive take to the rim there from the freshman James
James is a stud. There’s some young talent on this team that will pay dividends when they lose their diapers in March.
love both him and Odomes
I am excited about the young guys that will contribute this year and guys that should develop well.
Cousins w/ the dagger!
https://twitter.com/OU_MBBall/status/666750247113203712
jeezus, these zebras are f’ing ridiculous
wasn’t aware that cbb had started, lol……….not in the mood yet but kentucky/duke, ku/mich st tonite
i hate bitching about refs, but this officiating is so absurdly one-sided I’d swear they have $ on this game
Commentary too, I think I’ll put on some tunes in the 2nd half without the Memphis commentators.
What was that pulling on the uniform that Lon was complaining to the refs about?
Should have been an intentional foul.
42-41 OU at the half
Memphis shot almost three times as many free throws as OU did that first half
They still ended up with a 31-20 FTA advantage despite the fact that they had to intentionally foul at the end. Unreal.
Memphis focused on penetrating to the basket. OU focused on shooting from the arc. Driving to the basket generates more fouls than catch and shooting does. Definitely was a poorly called game. No consistency whatsoever.
Still at work. Have they been running Cousins at the point more or Woodard?
yes
Clearly the refs first game of the season. Yikes. Inconsistent and just bad so far. That said, OU looks a bit rusty. Young guys look young. They’ll get better. Getting what we knew we were from everyone else.
We’re not long or tall on the inside. If Longar’s cousin gets healthy, we’re gonna need him. Not rebounding well tonight.
The officiating in the college men’s game has been downright awful for years. The last 3 years of NCAA tournaments have been nearly unwatchable for me. I was hoping some of the re-emphasis on the rule book in the offseason would make a difference…but clearly not so far.
And I thought OU looked pretty good in spite of a few times where we got ahead of ourselves and pushed up the court out of control. I loved the fact that we had some set plays that we executed to perfection when we were struggling on offense. The most frustrating games last year (Creighton, etc.) we let the opponent go on extended runs. Yesterday we slowed things down and executed to take away momentum – several times, too. I think if this was last year’s team, we would have lost that game. That’s a positive sign so far.
Shot selection is so questionable but then they go and make them… Looking at you Cousins.
second half, here we go
Dedric Lawson w/ his 4th foul, huge for OU. He’s been killing the Sooners in this one.
50-47 @ U16 TO
Tough game.
I thought it might be, but also didn’t count on the refs almost single handedly keeping Memphis in it that first half.
Agreed. I was thinking the same thing, but thought maybe I was being a homer.
haha, same. admittedly a little bit of an exaggeration on my part but not much of one 😉
The no call that really got me was the intensional foul in the 1st half.
Ouch, hope he is just hurting, and not injured.
Best player on the bench and an injury…if OU loses its going to be by being undisciplined
McNeese!
Good call
Go back to him a third time!
Looks like Kruger had a chat with the officials during the half. 😉
Best players on bench OU needs to run and gun
Undisciplined we hit a three they hit one that’s the 5th time….D up
57-54 @ U12 TO
That should have been a charge toward Woodard before the foul on Spangler. Shouldered him out
Yep but the calls are going both ways OU is really impressive in staying away from fouls
I would really like to see the men’s game go to 4 quarters. Really like the way it has changed the girl’s game.
Didn’t know thanks…makes sense
Girl’s game is now 4 10min qtrs, 5 fouls then free throws, no more 1&1s. Flow is much better.
I’ve been wanting this for 20 years
Kruger has quite a few pieces on this team. This could be a really special season.
Defense is looking much better this half.
Well, other than Lawson. 😮
s/h/b Lawson’s fifth foul pushing Spangler in the back on that rebound
How open does Buford have to be to get the ball?
Yep, missed him
TY Buddy
Happens at least once every game, OU hits some kind of lull, you’re SCREAMING for Kruger to call a timeout to stem the momentum, but that TO never comes.
Is there a new rule you can only call TO on dead balls now?
For coaches
Cheese and rice how hell do you teach discipline
don’t want to be negative but damn this is ridiculous they are at home they are going to shoot the hell out of the 3 point shot
was that Lawson’s 5th?
Apparently not
Shows 4.
Brain farts
C’mon Buddy
ball handling was THE reason Hield came back this year, and yet it still appears to be an issue. how is that?
I think he just puts himself in bad situations too often. Driving into the middle of three defenders is a recipe for disaster.
The freshmen look like they will be solid contributors this season. I like it.
Cousins!
player of the year gets that call you f’ing hacks
Horrible non call
they’ve made this Lawson kid look like Wilt f’ing Chamberlain
Looking like teams with too much height could be an issue, that and we need to hang on to the dang ball!
How do you not call the foul on Memphis against Buddy, but then you call that crap on the other end!?
Home cooking
Bad non call but it was a reach on the other side, can’t be the second one to commit the foul
As bad as the UT game ughhh…don’t even try to get 5th fouls…announcer called ou should not let this happen
I do like this team. Can go deep into the bench.
They’ve given Lawson at least eight fouls in this game
Just fall down.. You’ll get the call
ridiculous
Get that Sooner blood boiling before the tcu game
Think they have enough reason to be mad already and the basketball team won’t help them get more pissed
I can not believe that the refs are that bad.
Yea you can cause it’s a home game for Memphis
I should have said un-intentionally.
Wow, Woodard on the putback
That had to feel familiar for Woodard.
His brother James is looking good for TU this year, kid can really play!
Just find a way to get out of here with a win fellas.
Now more fouls called than minutes played in this game.
Someone dialed up Buffalo Wild Wings!
Active hands?!? Call the dang foul
I think Memphis assistant coaches are calling this game.
D UP
Horrible refs. I would go zone bc Memphis can’t shoot
Nice body check on Isaiah
Woodard!
Sweet travel. Is this the NBA?
I have noticed several bunny hops not getting called all night also.
HUUUUUUUUGE three from Woodard!!!
That was a big one. Sure sealed the deal.
of course he made both. what is he like 50% FT shooter?
:-}
Lol
More like 20%. He was 1-5, now 3-7
#clutch
BS, before the shot
Figures and it’s cousins
JFC
No way in hell these refs were going to go quietly in this one
Ball doesn’t lie
TY for the miss, miss
miss
Bad decision by Cousins. Bad call by the official. Not that bad of a result.
This is a very good ou team….need to work on patience
…and defense.
Okay, we got this now.
That’s 30 for Buddy, right?
Yes
Yes
Yep. Bad dude
Good start to the season. This will prepare us for all the bad calls we receive in kansas and ISU.
Finally beat these guys. Wow what a relief
It’s crazy that Woodard is finishing with close to a triple double
Bet Kruger will be happy to put these refs and Memphis in the rear view mirror.
Spangler Double-Double
At the beginning if you told me they would win by 6 I would think you were crazy
Ball game, OU wins.
Enjoyed the company, y’all. Thanks for hanging out!
Thank you for the thread and hanging out with us.
Now back to the OP. Oh, wait…..
2:16 a.m. time to go to bed gotta drop some more iron tomorrow
Jordan thank you so very much for all you do thank all of you guys for coming by tonight
Thank all of you for what you do. Would be boring as hell w/o ya 🙂
Great win! Kudos to Coach Kruger and the men’s BB team.
Great win, this is definitely going to be an exciting season. I love being a Sooner!
Good win. Just enough to win. We can play SO much better than that.
Damn, I go to taco Tuesday and no one calls me to tell me about a game thread. Don’t act like you didn’t have my number. 🙂 Good win by the Sooners I see.
Dont forget to vote for Sterling.
http://biletnikoffaward.com/fan-vote
Ou #7 in the CFP rankings
the inside offense and defense /rebounding are , hopefully, works in progress…..OU was outscored 55-19 in the front court and got just 3 pts from Lattin/ McNeese…….this team has some good guards but OU can’t win every game from the perimeter…….
The interior offense and defense were both lacking. We may miss TaShawn Thomas more than first expected.
I missed this game thread, darn it. I was driving in snow and ice yesterday and when I got home I really wasn’t in much of a typing mood. LOL But I did get to see most of the second half. Making free throws saved the Sooners! Good win, on the road in a hostile environment. Boomer Sooner!
