Much of what I’m going to say here I’ve talked about before regarding Baylor in one context or another.
Defending Baylor Space
As most of you know, one of the hallmarks of Briles’ offense is the extremely wide splits of the wide receivers. Among other things, this makes it very difficult to get help over the top in a man free defense. It also makes the quarterbacks read easier as it forces the free safety to declare before the snap.
Last year and throughout the early part of this year OU was playing primarily cover 1 man and cover 3 (or some form of 3 deep). In the past few weeks, as you’ve watched Oklahoma’s defense get better, they’ve been playing a lot more quarters/palms coverage. In theory this allows OU to play some aggressive man concepts with some zone concepts as they read wide receiver releases, but it also gives them plenty of help in the run game.
In the quarters coverage Oklahoma’s LB lines up outside the tackle, his job is to carry the inside receiver to the safety or cover him if he runs a drag. He also has run reads and against the past few teams, he’s been close enough to the box to actually be involved in the run game.
With Baylor’s splits though, in that defense, they are going to force the LB to either play closer to the box, negating his effectiveness against the pass or forcing him to play further from the box negating his effectiveness against the run.
The Spread offense is about match-ups and space. And while, Baylor’s alignments simplify the defenses reads, it also creates so much space against serious athletes that it becomes hard to out-leverage them.
Pick Your Poison
Statistically, Baylor has a top 5 rushing offense in the country. You’ve heard this a million times but they are the ultimate offense when it comes to creating run pass conflicts. The space forces you to declare numbers. If you show a pass defense with your pre-snap alignment they’ll run. If you show a run defense, they’ll pass. Everyone wants to do that but not everyone can. Baylor can run the ball and coach Briles emphasizes it.
Last year when coach Patterson was defending WVU’s offense, he refused to give up numbers in the pass game and WVU kept running the ball on them with success. As a fan of GP, I was rather perturbed. Getting run on feels like the ultimate sign of disrespect for a defense. So watching a defensive minded coach that I look up to get run on…sucked. But with TCU’s ability to move the ball in the air on offense, it proved to be effective in the second half. A few run blitzes by TCU and a few mistakes by WVU and their offense stalled. GP forced them to go on long sustained drives and because his team tackles well, it worked.
Should OU do this? It worked for them in 2012. Well, it depends. I think OU’s strategy in picking their poison is going to depend on Stidham…
Defending Stidham
If Baylor’s starting quarterback were playing, I’d assert with quite a bit of confidence that OU is simply going to have to outscore the Bears. While they’ve been better on defense, the talent isn’t to the level that it could have significantly slowed that Bears offense down, especially as the game wore on. The precision of the passing game and added running ability of the starting QB is just too much strain on a defense that isn’t stacked with NFL draft picks…and even then it can be tough.
But the starting QB is out. Baylor’s offense relies on precision through repetition and Stidham is just a freshman so by definition he doesn’t have the numbers of repetition. Having said that, he was surprisingly accurate in the Kansas State game. To me, if OU can do the following to Stidham, they can have success.
– Find a way to make Stidham make reads. Baylor’s alignments force defenses to declare pre-snap and it simplifies the QB read so the game becomes more about accuracy and less about reads. OU however, rolls coverage a lot. You don’t want to get too fancy – that’s how you get busts – but I think throwing some rolled coverages in, zone blitzes (OU does that well as well) can force Stidham to read things and maybe hold the ball. Disguising things as much as possible pre-snap. Additionally, find ways to use your free safety more aggressively in coverage. Dropping him to the deep middle of the field every time only serves as a leverage device (and it’s not very effective because of the depth). Your outside CBs are going to be on an island regardless. A deep FS isn’t making it all the way over on a go route so find some varied ways to use him.
– You can’t just all out blitz Stidham all the time. He’s shown he can beat cover 0 and a guy like Coleman can take a stop route or a slant to the house. But in the KSU game I saw Stidham drop his eyes when he felt pressure. So you certainly want to pick your spots early and make him feel pressure early so that he hears footsteps all game. Young guys don’t trust their line and once a qb drops his eyes…he’s yours. Don’t let him get comfortable. But you don’t want to just pressure him early. Part of making a young QB uncomfortable is having him read something pre-snap and see something different post snap. Making him find space in tight zone coverages as well.
– Figure out whether to lean on letting them run or taking chances with your secondary in the first quarter. If Stidham isn’t accurate against the Sooners, then don’t let them run. Keep numbers against the run till he proves he can consistently beat you with the pass. If he’s on point in the pass game, then be patient and give up some run and hope that slows the clock enough to allow your offensive to win the game.

First BOOMER!!!
SOONER!!!
I do hope we are able to rattle the QB early and shut down the run, if we can do that we win. If the freshman is looking over his shoulder all night, our DB’s will be able to cover. Taking away his first read will be very important.
Super K, thanks. Great post and I appreciate the team awareness you put into your writing.
I would like to add that I think the DL is playing very well. They are getting pressure. When MS decides to bring help, the defense is unstoppable. OU has been unfortunate a couple of blitzes. There was a time or two we had players crashing into each other. They could probably be 10 sacks better. Either way, I think 5 players can get to Stidham, leaving more in coverage. When OU brings 6 or 7 they are going to get to the QB quickly. This is a huge stage for the OU defense and I believe they will seize the moment.
I predict OU big: 50+-20.
I agree with SamSooner below, OU has actually done well the last two years with defending Baylor it’s just they couldn’t do anything with a disguised Blitz because the D-line wasn’t getting pressure and then eventually your Defense will break when they are getting stops but quickly having to run back out on the field because the Offense continues to go three and out. We have improved drastically on both sides of the ball. I’m very excited
Time is going by so sloooowww
Enjoy it, the season will be over before we know it and we will be here talking about the long winter. 🙂
I was thinking about that today, the long 8 month drag before the next season starts.
/*sigh*
Speaking words of wisdom….let it be..
I’m of the opinion that we take away the run…period. Make a freshman QB beat us. I’ve yet to see a QB make perfect throws every time. What I would like to see more of is jamming the receivers at the line, throwing off the timing of their offense. I would also like to see the young QB forced to run with the ball and take some licks.
Eastex, I agree and I think this is a philosophy we saw with venables and I’m certain the stoops brothers agree. No matter how easy they make the passing game look, it is less efficient than a great running game. Make them call passes when they would normally want to run and you’ve got them uncomfortable.
I’ve got a lot of confidence in this ou team but I don’t know what Baylor is going to do to frustrate us. If we can match them in the first half then I think we will have the horses this year in the 2nd half that we didn’t in the last 2 years.
This is quite possibly the most succinct thought that simplifies the ideal approach to take: “No matter how easy they make the passing game look, it is less efficient than a great running game.”
Well done, Zack.
I think the OU defense is capable of holding baylor’s offense to a lower score than they are accustomed.
I don’t think baylor’s defense is capable. I want to see the same look on the baylor coaches faces that I saw last week when KSt was gouging them for huge runs.
I want to see Andrews being chased by shorter and slower LBs across the middle. I want to see Shep burning their DBs with double moves.
We can shut down their running game much easier than they can shut down ours, that I’m sure of. If it comes down to Baker vs. Stidham, I like Baker’s game experience to this point. Press and cover, taking away the first read wins this for us.
One thing that isn’t being talked about is baker. If he has a good game tomorrow in a winning effort, I believe he catapults up to the heisman front runner and 2 more wins would solidify that trophy.
You really think “front runner”? I could see him in the mix for sure but there are players ahead of him that get WAY too much love from the media.
Yes. Who’s in the running now? Coleman I think is considered the “favorite” right now. But fournette blew it vs bama and Boykin vs osu. Both may end up in NY but I don’t think they will win at this point. Baker has the best chance to impress unless someone like hogan gets red hot.
I think Henry from bama is at the top of most lists right now.
Thanks I forgot about him. And he may not slow down the rest of the season. The only thing in his way is kiffin
Being in the “game of the week” will give him a boost if it’s a win with good performance. An average game gets him in the talk. I think if OU somehow gets into the playoffs he is at the top but it will be a tough climb.
Very tough that’s why if he leads this team by averaging 300+ and 3.5 tds in the next 3 games then I think he will be the winner. He’s got numbers that rival those of white and bradfords heisman runs.
We all know and appreciate his stats compared to our other greats, but do the voters really make that comparison or do they just go with who’s popular right now.
I think Alabama’s Derrick Henry is considered the leader followed by Leonard Fournette, Corey Coleman and Ezekiel Elliott.
I just don’t know what to really like think about this game. I want to say our defense is playing really well and it has been but it has been against bad competition. So how “good” is our defense really? But you could say the same of Baylor. They have not played anyone that is very good other than WVU but that was without there best defender.
Then you add that Baylor is at home with a rabid fan base. Will that fuel or distract a freshman QB?
I want the win but I just don’t know what to really think.
Rabid Baptists.
The school might be from a Baptist tradition but that student body is not. I would say the student section is more in the charismatic side.
I wonder what magical mayhem Coach Riley has planned for this week?
I would bet a billion quatloos it is something tricksy and wonderful.
“Magical mayhem,” I like it.
I thought you would go for the tricksy quatloos. 🙂
He had me “magical.”
You remember the origins of quatloos, right?
https://youtu.be/qjeyWNolnXA
I was about to say a Trek thing then saw your picture. lol.
I bet the Baylor coaches have stayed up a lot later getting prepared for this game, compared to the last couple of years
Well, they did send that spy to Tulsa. 🙂
Like you EastTx I can’t imagine him not having some surprises ready for our grubby little friends in Waco. There’s going to be some interesting plays and alignments. There are several games that can be used as a template obviously to show how to stop their offense fairly well. So I expect some new wrinkles out of our own O with a lot of talent and newly formed experience starting to make a difference. We may struggle at first and it ends up a close game. But if it clicks for us we may take them out nicely.
Whatever it is I bet it involves 70 points.
Dang, what has gotten into the Buffs. USC must be experiencing altitude sickness.
After the OU WBB, I switched to the OKC Thunder, now I’m moving to that game.
I wouldn’t mind having Colorado back in the conference if Nebraska would come with them. That would make a nice twelve.
Agreed. I’m sure Nebraska hates the word “hindsight”
Only way that is happening is if Texsa goes away or they ditch the LHN.
I’m not opposed to trading Colorado, Nebraska, and Missouri for texsa. 🙂
Me either.
No Missouri! Cowardly coach should have resigned immediately when he supported some players over others and turned on the administration that trusted him to manage the team. They were losers in the Big 12 and play worse now then then but have easier competition. Bunch of self entitled babies worried about hoaxes and not football. They will lose thousands of students next semester over their caving to the racist groups, and it will cost them millions.
???
Lord love a duck… 😛
Okay then, Mizzou crossed off and Central Florida on deck. 🙂
There you go! I knew you would come around! That’s what I’m here for- to clean up messes.
No question the first thing that needs to go is the LHN. But that is not going to happen without impetus from ESPN which could commence concurrent with the expiration of the “grant of media rights” contracts in approximately 2025. Until that time things are not going to change with any Power 5 conference.
SoCal boys don’t like the cold weather. Sissies.
That’s hilarious dude.. exactly right, look at all those sleeves.
Or sucking air just from tying their shoelaces. 🙂

I actually watched Film Room on espnu the other day and they did an excellent job dissecting and explaining the subtle changes made in the OU backfield since the Texsa game and why the running game has improved so much. I hadn’t noticed that Perine and Mixon were lining up about 2 yards further back from Mayfield, instead of beside him.
I’ve noticed that also, lets them run down hill. I don’t think I watched the film room but have seen that mentioned somewhere.
Something so simple has made a huge difference.
Hey ole Ball Coach, I like your style. The day before a big game seems like 72 hours, so I was poking around this evening and landed on the Brainiac site. After reading your posts and the visual effects, I might as well make a pot of coffee cuz it’s going to be a sleepless night. Thanks a lot!
It’s times like these I wish we had an 11a.m. kickoff.
You feel me?
Yes I do, love being a Sooner!
Gonna be absolute murder waiting all day
I like Mack Brown, but the color commentator role may not be ideal for him
He and his voice annoy the crap out of me.
Thank you, I’m not the only one. I have my volume on “1”, mute’s mortal enemy!
They should pair him with Holtz and watch the network shut completely down.
That would have been an excellent MTV Celebrity Death Match
Holtz got fired, I believe.
It was more of a comparison and what they both do to my ears. 🙂
I figured it was just another thing you didn’t know 😉
Their R many things I dunt no.
Just gotta ask: Am I the only person in America not overly impressed with LSU?
No.
Who?
I believe the correct term is “Whodat.”
Whodat mad cat wit the mad hat?
Nobody important
*impotent, if you take away a guy. 🙂
No. The only thing about LSU that is remotely impressive is 85% of their roster are home grown in Louisiana.
43 of the 120 man roster are not from the State of Louisiana.
Did I say 85%, I meant 65%. Thanks fact checker
I find it disturbing the amount of raving and fawning the tide are getting for beating LSU. The kitten’s offense has always seemed unbalanced to me, and their D couldn’t stop Henry to save their lives.
I am impressed with the talent they have, but not with Coach “Let’er rip.”
I know they have talent, but they seem to me to be a 1-man show. Without Fournette one can only imagine how many games they would have dropped by now.
With a capable passing game imagine the kind of back Fournette could be. The tigers passing game is to go long, the olde ‘heave and hope’ ploy and not short to intermediate passing. Makes no sense at all, but then they have Lester.
It’s all that grass he’s been eating. Smoking too.
Imagine spending Thanksgiving dinner with “Let’er rip”, I would turn the carving utensils onto my neckular area
Also, by what unknowable “metric” did the committee put them at #2 in the first place? Their best win was over the gators who rolled into death valley literally 5 days after losing their starting qb. Their best OOC game was 6-loss Syracuse. Syracuse! How in the name of Bud Wilkinson did they ever merit a #2 ranking?
sec, sec, sec.
I guess my question was only rhetorical
The effing “eye test”. It allows the committee to employ bias in their evaluations. Did I say “evaluations”? I misspeak.
Would have been awesome if we could have landed Adoree Jackson instead of USC
I believe LSU will have problems with Arkansas tomorrow, might even go ahead and call an upset, screw might, Arkansas over LSU!
I’ve had that feeling for a while now. I can see Arky winning something like 17-14.
after quintuple overtime 🙂
Ima likin what you’re gittin at there.
There could be three or four gotcha games in the top ten tomorrow
I agree, like OU upsetting Baylor. Did I really just say that? Seems SOOOOOO wrong.
But it’s oh so right, I’m feeling good on Baylor Eve
I view it as returning balance to the universe.
For a team that never won until they got Briles (remember what will happens to them when he bolts for a better program), and probably will slip back into obscurity after he leaves.
As always, good stuff K!
List of teams to root for tomorrow:
Illinois over tOSU
Wake Forest over ND (lol)
Miss St over Bama
Cuse over Clemson (double lol)
Piggies over LSU
Oregon over Stanford
Arizona over Utah
Good guys over the Bears…..BIG!
Memphis at Houston could be very interesting.
Very interesting. And fun to watch. I’m rootin’ for Justin and Memphis.
Got to go with the Cougs on this one, as much as I like Fuente and what he has done.
My big brother was a QB at UH back in the mid 60’s.
Piggies over LSU is a real possibility. Brandon Allen could be the difference for the Hogs. Hope they shut down Fournette. So tired of ESPin pushing him for the Heisman. I really like Stanford but they need to lose to improve our chances with the CFP. Then they need to wallop ND. And, yes, the good guys over the Bears.
I’m out before the Mrs drops the hammer, catch you Soonerz boyz tomorrow on the thread
I’m thinking Herstreit goes with OU tomorrow and maybe one other person. Corso will go with Baylor which is extremely good news for us since we always win when he picks against us!
Agree. I hope Corso is all-over Baylor.
Yep. Wearing a silly bear head. Mumbling and flubbing his lines from the teleprompter. Yelling “not so fast, my friend!” emphatically which promptly causes him to lose his balance and have to be saved by Herbstreit from falling out of his chair. Good times, good times.
Corso becomes Lou Holtz more and more every week. It’s time to get him off the air.
I have only watched snippets of that show since it began. I have the dvr set to record it so I can watch it a little later and buzz through all the BS.
Herb is the OU homie.
Everyone will like this. Fiutak thinks OU is about to make a huge statement tomorrow:
http://collegefootballnews.com/2015/oklahoma-vs-baylor-game-preview-prediction
Good article.
Me likee. It’s more true today than in any other game so far: if we can run, we can win.
Off-topic: went and saw “My All-American”. A 3-star effort out of 5, but very sentimental and moving. The football scenes are realistic. The first time I ever rooted for a Longhorn. And the last. Hard not to admire courage and toughness. People often forget that saxeT’s best coach ever was a former Sooner.
Texas sucks!
Agree. But courage knows no color.
First one back this morning BOOMER beat Baylor.
SOONER!
Saw Rece Davis of ESPN stating that OU is looking very much like Ohio State last year where they had an “inexplicable” loss followed by a great season. That seems like exactly the narrative we would wish for from the sultans of commentary at ESPN. Maybe they’re signaling that they are willing to push for us in the final four (albeit possibly in return for two SEC teams as well to protect their financial investment!) If we can win out this month I believe we will get that chance. There are Sooner fans all over the country and the OU brand means big ratings in any game shown on television, which has to help us in ways both big and small.
As I have said before, this current system isn’t a playoff, it’s a beauty pageant. The buckies got in over the frogs and bears for two reasons, they finished the season looking marvelous in bikini and heels, while the two schools without the large fan base cheering for them trying to get in didn’t.
Exactly. And you said it more succinctly and colorfully as well my insightful, tater tot eating friend!
FrogsToads and bears in bikini and heels…*shudder*Horny toads!
Okay.
No one I know calls horny toads “horned frogs!” They’re actually lizards anyway but horny toads goes wayyy back LOL.
It’s a beautiful day to be a Sooner!
Had a dream last night I couldn’t watch the game. But when I finally heard the score I was elated. 56-3 good guys. I’ll take that kind of dream every night!
https://youtu.be/EiFrPL-iYYI
Go back to sleep. There is such a thing as a lucid dreamer: that’s someone who is aware they dreaming and begin to control the dream. We will wake you up.
I’m cool with that. Just remember to set the bacon aroma alarm clock.
You bet. Just sleep until OU has won it all. The DVR is set.
When he hears this wonderful tune he can wake up.

EasTex, can you send me the link to Marshall. Just in case I can sneak it in.
Go to “teamline.” In the search box type “Marshall Mavericks.” The game is set for 1p.m., so I wouldn’t try clicking on until a few minutes after.
Cool. Thanks. I’m going to give it a go.
https://youtu.be/dSQ40d8uoOI
Smell the flavor!
I certainly will give it my all an Nap Like a Champion. 🙂
If I had a say in our defensive alignment I would use bracket coverage on Coleman and try to take him out of their offense. I know it will leave single coverage on the other WR’s but Coleman is so good it would be worth the tradeoff. Without Coleman they are about average on offense. Do this while focusing on stopping the run and some pressure on Stidham and I think their offense goes in the tank. JMHO.
lol…..that looks like one of the smallest GameDay crowds I’ve seen in a while. Way to represent the Big 12 Baylor fans. smh
LOL!
It’s a small school. Was hoping all their goofy fans would show up and be exhausted by kick off time.
I’ll have to check it out when I get back from grocery shopping.
Wow, no kidding. Did you see when the camera zoomed out? I bet North Dakota State had a better turnout. Plus, their sign game is lame; I can’t read any of them.
I have a feeling OU will qin big tonight 52-35 or something worse hope its correct.
Same here. Baylor has had a beat down coming for a while.
I would love to see the defense hold Baylor under 400 yards. Really anything less than 600 would be a good effort but I want to know if the defense is elite or not.
Super K – I think highly of HCGP, as well. I think you have to go back to the TCU – BU game last year and see what GP did for 3 qtrs.
Can’t believe I’m watching this show.
Me either.
I cant believe I woke up for it. I should go back to sleep. Waco is boring, anyways.
I’ve trained my 2 year old very well. He just saw them talking about the game and said “I don’t like bears”
lol…..I did see one funny sign.
“Bob Stoops prefers Blue Bunny ice cream.”
Thank God Blue Bell is back on the shelves. 🙂
It’s good, but I will never abandon my nearby Braum’s.
Blue Bell Chocolate Chip is to die for. Of course, Braum’s Chocolate Toffee is also. One of the things I hate about living in Yankee-land is no Blue Bell or Braums,
Briles seemed waaayyy to relaxed. Hmmm.
Stoops isn’t going on gameday today is he?
Not sure..
Comparing himself to General Patton was way over the top.
Ha! The General Green Creepy Guy. He thought Rece Davis was Chris Fowler! Way to screw up on national tv.
He did that? lol I only caught the end of his segment.
Yea, I’d agree he is no George C. Patton.
George S. Patton, George C. Scott
You are correct. That damn Scott plays him so well, I get the middle initial confused at times..
He’s really scared.

I was kind of thinking a good way to get in Stidham’s head was to somehow jump a route when he didn’t see it coming and break up the pass. That will start making him think about things and not trust himself. Then time some things and hit Coleman to break up a few passes and he will start looking around. Our corners have to trust our safeties.
Along a similar line would be having a linebacker drop into coverage and breakup or tip one of those quick slants.
Last year and the year before, I was truly worried about this game due to QB issues. I think Baker has a date with destiny tonight. The guy is a gamer and thrives on challenges. I also believe that Coach Riley will bring his own share of surprises. I believe, that as a team, we are much better than we were last year on both sides of the ball and we have a QB who can gash teams. I like our chances.
We need to press these Baylor receivers, play physical, disrupt pass routes, and challenge catches. Our corners have to take risks and be confident in their ability. We do this right today, they’ll grow up exponentially. Offensively, let’s get out of the gate fast and find our rhythm.
So how many here saw all those trash-talking signs Baylor fans were holding?
Thought that the one claming Stidham was from a virgin birth was in pretty poor taste, especially from a private Baptist school.
I doubt Stigham’s dad liked it.
Their signs are weak, but not as weak as that crowd. I turned it off.
Also, for a school who’s fans are begging to be thought of as at the Elite level of schools, where is everybody? They have a few hundred but come on. I expected a good 4 to 5 K
Art.
I don’t. But having to look at that every evening, I would bet his wife does.
They had one suggesting Sooner fans are toothless. That was cute.
Another said Oklahoma is where cousins go to get married.
So, who did Corso pick?
not OU. Thank goodness
Thank you Corso! We will definitely win now! Lol
Coach lee picked the Bears, every time he goes against OU OU wins. BOOMER!
SOONER!
The extreme confidence coming from Baylor reminds me of WVU last year. I remember Clint Tricket and the other players and coaches laughing and yucking it up from the sidelines like they had the game in the bag. Baylor acting like they have no respect for us at all.
Pride come before the Perine. Or something like that. He is humble and humbler.

After the long piece about the typical story on the rough life Corey Coleman’s unmarried mother chose for herself and her children, Rece Davis pointed to a bumper sticker saying that he had “20 Freaking Touchdowns” and said “Corey Coleman has 20 freaking touchdowns and not a single one of them is against a team with a winning record!” The crowd went silent for a minute like they had had no idea that was true! O.U. 56, Baylor 42.
His Heisman run ends tonight.
Pitiful.
need a cfb/open post ………
Last year, with a novice secondary, and essentially undermanned against the power of Baylor’s offense, the OU defensive scheme worked very well for the first part of the game. The first three possessions were punt, hold to a f.g., and punt. If the offense had kept pace, there might have been hope. But then came the second quarter in which we gave up an interception, and blew a relatively easy field goal. Then, after yet another defensive stop, the bonehead call by Boulware resulting in a roughing the punter penalty was the final straw. Three straight possessions for Baylor and what had been a 14 to 3 lead, turned into game over. I know we held out hope that the opening drive of the third quarter might hold some miracle to get OU back in the game, but realistically, that defense had no chance playing against Baylor’s offense from behind, with the offense continuously giving up the ball without scoring. The margin for error was zero.
This year should be very different. On both sides of the ball. The experience and talent on the defense is night and day better, this is reflected in better communication, alignment, recognition, coverage, and on down the line. Riley’s offense has also turned the corner. Over 50 points 3 games in a row and close to 700 yards is a force to be reckoned with.
My point is simply that the margin for error this year is much greater than last. We have the experience and ability to execute a winning plan and, unlike last season, shouldn’t need smoke and mirrors to make it work. I like our chances.
Jessica Coody had a very nice piece on Coach Cooks in the OU Game Day show.
I admit to concern about their offensive line. Three seniors and a junior. Ugh. Here’s hoping that the Striker/Bond effect completely discombobulates their usually stellar efforts.
I think it starts with walker/Romar/dimon being immovable forces in the middle. Stop the run to setup 3rd down passing situations in order to pin your ears back and attack with striker/bond.
At Baylor walking around…..whats that smell?
the smell of a Sooner victory?
I definitely smell that!!
oooooooooo that smell cant ya smell that smell
Can you smelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll what KJ is cooking?
A fake dynasty soaking in swamp water.

I believe that Corso has underestimated the dedication of the OU coaching staff to winning this game.
I tried to throw something at him when he put on that stupid mask on but they had a screen up.
They were reading TFB during commercials and knew you were there.

EasTex, call me stupid. I am really trying to listen to the Marshall game. I can’t get the audio. I’ve clicked on every link to play the game. Nothing.
It keeps cutting out for long periods of time. Now, to make matters worse, it suddenly went to the Texsa-WVU game and now has cut out again. Very frustrating.
Marshall up 14-3 with 6:20 to go before halftime.
Thanks!
21-3 Mavs on 3 TD passes by Haller with 3:24 left in the 2nd qtr.
Defense is on fire!
21-10 with a minute and a half before half time.
Announcers just named the officials Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp.
LOL!
Can anyone call you stupid, or just ET?
Of course you can Dustin. Of course.
I wouldn’t do that. I’m too nice.
Uhhh…what?…

So, it’s all about you.

Someone is slacking today.
I see what you did there..
Rain approaching Wacko, looks like a good chance of rain well into the early part of the game.
I see that… favors the stronger run game eh?
Could effect ball security and dropped passes.
Do they have turf or grass?
Matrix.
http://www.matrix-turf.com/products/turf/
That sux- I like grass stains and mud.
I always enjoyed pushing my opponents face deep into a mud/water puddle.
Hope the equipment manager packed away an assortment of cleats.
That sir is old school I love it
Ain’t no school like it. 🙂
Indeed sir
I think we can say we are mudders
TCU and KU tied at 10? Boykin injured as well? wow.
I will apologize now for anything I post stupidly before hand.BBQ Beer and a big bottle with
some kind of brown stuff in it BOOMERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!————————
A few of those and you’ll be able to interpret Lou Holtz for us. 🙂
That isn’t possible, but he could at least sound like him. :-0
Maybe a little slobber
“Smaybe a littiddle shlobberhbl.”
I got me a fresh pitcher of iced tea, all set to go.
Corned beef and cabbage with cornbread is dinner this time.
EasTex, let me just say, my love for cabbage is as unbreakable as it is weird. It gives me and my clothing a strange smell that makes me unwelcome everywhere I go. But I’ll lose friends before I lose my cabbage.
I love cabbage, too.
Thought about making some Polish Cabbage Rolls instead, but I need to fortify my body for the cold weather coming.
Don’t care what anyone smells or thinks. I am, however, courteous to others and step outside with my cabbage farts. They would make people’s noses bleed.
Ah. Cabbage farts. One of life’s greatest gifts.
Heard should change his name to “Hoover.”
Colin is well————- you know
Who?
Talking about the Texsa QB.
oops cow heard
And John Hoover is aptly named
Where is our game day post slackersssssssssss /s
I can only have one game day comment. ” It’s a great game day to be a SOONER” , that is all.
So im at home wanted to see the 25 amazing women ,and now its not there grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Don’t dare look on my work comp
That award goes to Jennifer Connelly 1991
torch the couches…….horns go down
UT got worked by WVU. 38-20.
That loss looks worse and worse every week.
Doesn’t look great, but at least it was a rivalry game.. it happens.
That day was an aberration.
And the reason for my second ulcer.
It just added fuel to the inferno of hate I have for Texsa athletics.
The coaches made the kind of adjustments that earn them the big bucks, or to put it another way, adjustments that make us realize why they have the successful track record and reputation that they do, based upon what they learned from that game. The scheme and personnel adjustments have paid huge dividends on both sides of the ball. Imho.
Heard would have a high QBR if he wasn’t color blind. 🙂
I would dearly love to see the Dawgs whip bama.
Sheesh, how many Dawgs does the SEC have? You would think they could be somewhat creative.
Just wow !
Joejuh whipped auburn. Didn’t think that would happen.

On to victory!
Oh and nuke Mecca.
Victory in style
Keep political comments to yourself.
screw you
Reported.
So a few thoughts, Tennessee has 4 losses and yet are a “bad team” with all 4 losses being by a total of 17 points OU with a 7 point victory and they are well on their way to being 8-4. TCU not so good let’s be honest got lucky against KSU and TT and got handled by OSU and struggling today against KU but, without their QB and best WR so I will give them a pass today. OU blows out Baylor today what will the committee have to say about the BIG 12, sure it will take OU and OSU winning out and setting up a hell of a Bedlam game and even then IDK that they will let one of us in! Oh well here is to a great game and a SOONER victory. BOOMER!!!
Kansas has a shot vs TCU one min left
Cyclones strike first! That was quick..
Ah well. TCU wins
Prob for the best.
yup
As game time approaches and as I think more about the absolutely dramatic improvements this OU team has made this year, I’m getting irrationally optimistic about the possibility that Baylor’s gonna wonder what hit them today.
Just got back from the future, attended Baylor’s post-game presser and took this pic:
“I don’t know nothing’ ’bout no allegations. Have you seen my big, fat tight end?”
Man, I am liking OU’s chances of winning out if they can beat Baylor. ISU is up 14-7 on OSU. Need OSU to win, but ISU showing that the Pokes D isn’t all that good, even with Ogbah. Sooners need to just hit the Bears right in the mouth from the start tonight, and not let up.
OSU looks awful right now.
always have 😉
Their offense on the first drive looked good, but the D is just getting worked. ISU just hit a 40 yard pass. SMH. In the red zone already.
Lord. ISU has 3 TDs and there is still time in the first Q. Come on Pokes…..Dang.
Wow, refs know that Pokes need to win to give B12 a shot at the playoffs. ISU still gets a FG and a 17-3 lead. Already scored more in 1st Q than they did all game vs. OU. 🙂
<—— ISU 21-7
I think ISU scores more than that, lol
Edit: Ohhhhh . . . .
That is about to be the score now, first quarter.
Edit: They reversed the TD catch. FG instead. 17-7
Now ain’t this something?
Man, ISU is looking sharp. Makes me think that win last week was all the more impressive.
I predict we will do this to the bears.
We can only hope….LOL
That was a bad reversal and the ISU TD. Ball wasnt trapped, and never touched the ground.
Pokes need to win to help B12 Playoff chances. We’ll probably see even more questionable calls going OSU’s way. Just sayin’. s/
I know it.. I want to see them lose soo badly, but I agree with you, better for us if we both win till that last game..
OSU will come back and win this one, but interesting to see them getting pushed to the limit so hard by ISU.
ISU is no slouch
Go Navy!
I’d be okay with adding a service academy (or two) to the big 12.
Air Force gave OU all it could handle a few years ago. That home and home with Army at the end of the decade is going be a big draw.
But Army is terrible. Tulane beat them today. Would rather see us play AF or Navy.
They are, but schedule was set up years ago, and will still be a big draw for OU fans when they play one of the service academies
I do not disagree, always think it is cool to play one of the services. Just wish they had a chance of making it interesting. Who knows, maybe they find some players between now and then. 😉
I would cancel that series. No one runs that offense but the service schools and GT. It will set you back three weeks in prep time for league play.
I was unaware Army is on future schedule. That is cool! I think adding Navy and Army, and that rivalry, could help both the big 12, and Army and Navy. Would get big 12 that national, “big draw” that they crave, and would give Army and Navy a rightful place in a legit conference.
forgot the miss st has a hyper-manny diaz d
Okie lite, doink.
2011 all over again for the Pukes so far
Does anyone wanna win the big 12-2?!
(refresh for pic)
We will see tonight! I’m so psyched for this game I can’t sit still nor could I sleep… I’ll pretend it’s not ptsd today lol
It took me a minute to get that. And now that I do get it, I give you 2-1 upvote.
I know I’m supposed to want OSUcks to win out until Bedlam. But after all the crap I’ve taken since the Texsa fiasco, I wouldn’t mind seeing them lose out. They are lOSUrs after all.
Come on Cuse!
Pukes down 24-7
Yeah I have mixed feelings on that one. Would really be good for us to win a big game on a big stage to finish the season, and if they drop this that doesn’t help us.
Not good. TCU…won but Boykin in trouble. We win tonight they could say Baylor lost the first string. Beat TCU without Boykin. And the pukes were pretenders if they lose today. Would this #%$ CFP committee dare question our path to 11-1?
How’s that vaunted OSWho Defense doing? They look very porous to say the least.
exactly.
Well, got my first win of the day. My old high school won their first round playoff game 21-14 and advances to play Dallas South Oak Cliff, like last year.
Now to cook dinner and get ready for the most important victory of the day.
Congratz!
Thanks, it was a tough one. The final score was the half time score.
/*whew*
Sounds like a dog fight in the trenches second half.
Good. I will try again next week.
Lol, okie light getting humbled by the Clones
This OSU/ISU game is a real indication of how good OU really is. We are in for a treat tonight.
Please SamSooner be right.
I smell what your cooking, and it smells good!
Does it smell like bacon and tater tots?
It smells like grilled bear.
I’ve always wanted a bear rug…

Cool. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
I’m so excited, I can’t feel my fingkmowkdfadas/.
No overturn there. 🙂
So what happens to the perception of our conference if ISU ends winning something like 42-17?
Ahhhh, football. The closer and closer it inches towards gametime, the butterflies rumble more and more..
Just need to get them to fly in formation.
By that I mean hammer a bear into the dirt
B-b-but, OSU’s defense is the bestest Mike Gundy’s ever coached. They’re so fast. Ogbah is the best DE in the Big XII. Blah, blah, blah.
But, this IS the best defense Gundy has ever coached! ha!
Nice! 🙂
This is the best Iowa State defense he has ever coached! Lol
Woah.. Just saw that score
Wheres the game thread?
Esco’s napping…
Game score update from broadcaster during OSU-ISU….”Miss. State giving Alabama all they can handle.” Meanwhile the score is 14-0 Alabama, but he conveniently left that part out.. lol
Just have a feeling that Baylor is going to get all the calls and non calls tonight.
Home crowd plus orders from the top.
I hope Im wrong
Why do you suspect such a thing? This isn’t basketball.
politics
What? I could see it if Baylor was the only undefeated Big 12 team.
They probably will be by gametime
Then, I’ll look for what you are saying. We need to run the ball. Control T.O.P.
pessimism… We’re gonna kick their asses
Badly.
And smash their pee-pees.
Ouch.
You have to treat them like jihadis and use super-terrorism.
mmmmkay
To keep an eye on any weather happening (or not) in Waco- here’s a live cam feed:
http://wxtexas.50webs.com/loop.htm
I love rain. Except during big football games. I do think the rain benefits us, however.
I just wish there were mud involved.
All I get is a still shot.
you have to reload- it’s not video
Now I get a blank page when I click the link.
yeah, it just did that to me, too- must be having an issue right now
Well, it is Waco.
it’s back
Look in the lower left foreground- looks like an OU tent is set up to tailgate
That is a restaurant across the crick on the left side of the highway. Pretty good place to eat. Do not recall the name.
