Steven Parker Note – Texas A&M In-Home Visit

Texas A&M originally declined to do the in-home visit with Parker and his family and instead opted to do their visit at the state championship game. As a side note, we can tell you that TAMU’s decision to do that actually would have helped Oklahoma because the family would have preferred the in-home. But as most of you the state championship game has been delayed due to weather. That changed Texas A&Ms plans and we got word that they decided to do the in-home visit last night.
We don’t have word yet on how the visit went. We just know that Texas A&M did do their in-home visit with the Parkers yesterday. If we hear more we will update this post.

What about Arkansas? I read that he took a visit there last month.
yeah he did on an unofficial. But we don’t believe Arky is a player with Parker.

I admit I don’t know much about recruiting, but why does Sumlin do this to OU, considering he coached here and coach Stoops has been so supportive of Sumlin? Why does aTm mess with OU like this?
He’s getting paid to win just like Stoops and every other coach is. If he wants a kid, go get him. I don’t fault him for it at all. It’s business. Has to make money, per se.
I get that. But that’s not the case here. Sumlin is recruiting Parker *just* to mess with OU. To me this seems a “geopolitical” move in the sense that aTm wants OU to feel aTm breathing down their neck.
The funny thing is many of us see Bob as somewhat even-keeled and mild-mannered, but when Bob gets pissed off, he ends up making a fool out of those who doubted him and his intensity to want to win.
If Sumlin really is recruiting Parker just to “mess with OU”, then I don’t think that ends well with Sumlin, personally. The guy can recruit, but he’s been in coaching positions, where he’s been the benefactor of the predecessor’s recruits. I’m also very skeptical of his team’s defenses. Florida proves that talent alone can’t guarantee wins, so Sumlin should just focus on fixing his defense, preparing for life after Manziel and Evans and worry less about striping that stupid helicopter of his.
Bob should just start showing videos of that 77-0 blasting A&M received compliments of Bob’s Sooners. Wouldn’t hurt my feelings.
Not sure that recruits will get the comparison between a game that happened 10 years ago with a different head coach and today’s world. If anything, Sumlin should show last year’s Cotton Bowl game. That is much more relevant today.
I was kidding! I still think Sumlin recruiting just to “mess with OU” is both petty and a waste of time. Plus, A&M will need a lot more “last year’s Cotton Bowls” to equal the carnage OU has bitch slapped A&M with over the years.
If Keven likes Parker and thinks he’ll be a key contributor to his team, then by all means.
Ah, I’d probably say I was kidding too if I didnt have a real response (which you obviously dont and try to switch the topic to Ws/Ls). But I bet Kevin truly appreciates your blessing to go after a recruit. Seeing how our two program’s recruiting classes have been trending, I’d say we’ll be just fine.

In all seriousness, Sumlin is a great coach and is doing wonders at A&M. I’m also glad he decided to stay. He relates well to kids and he’s proving it on the recruiting trail.
Go frolic off to your own aggie board where you guys create new ‘championships’ out of thin air when you switch conferences. Of course you should show your recruits all that hardware aTm has won in the last 50 years…won’t take long…
Of course I’m sure you guys are still VERY confident in Sumlin considering he just lost 4 games in a season in which he had the best player in college football. Loads of confidence, right? Enjoy mediocrity…and I know you will as you guys are used to it.
Ummmm these stats aren’t all that impressive PB.

2. One Big 12 title in 16 years.
3. 10 Conference titles in the SWC over 80 years as a member.

Sumlin was at A&M before OU, but still irrelevant. If a coach likes a player, he’s going to go after him. He’s not trying to mess with OU. He’s trying to help continue to build A&M’s program.
So, these guys are just bringing stuff up to add filler to their content? Is that what you’re saying? Or are you an expert mind reader that knows everything going on in the World today?
I agree it doesn’t make sense for a coach to waste his time on a kid that would mostly be a luxury, and to “mess with OU”, but how about we let this play out and see what information these guys tell us that confirms or denies that?

The article didnt say A&M was trying to mess with OU, you did. I was rebutting that comment. Dont have to be an expert mind reader to see that. And by the way, these guys also have staked their claim on Saban now going to UT, which UT’s prez just said that he’s never even talked to Saban. No one know for sure yet, but it very well could be another “filler to their content”. TBD.

Doesn’t mean I don’t get grumpy, but I don’t have any ill will towards you, A&M or anyone here. Of course, my wife can attest how grouchy I get when I don’t eat….
Sorry if I came off the wrong way. Spirited debate, but don’t take me too seriously. It’s dumb to get mad on a website when we’re talking about a game.

Exactly. It’s not like he’s messing with some 2-star kid here. He’s doing this with a kid that pretty much any team in the country would like to have. I don’t buy the “just messing with OU” thing.
Aggies like to say he was at A&M first. Let’s say that was a brief stint. He spent some of his formative offensive years with the Sooners.
In any event, yeah Sumlin is going to do what he has to. And I’ll guess it’s his staff too, not necessarily him.
Y’all misunderstood the post and obviously we should have been more clear. Of course Sumlin likes him but he’s got DBs already signed and a ton in his own state. So when the coach told me TAMU was messing with OU I meant..that they want to make things difficult for OU and they want to make a statement by pulling the best Oklahoma kid out of the state.
