We’ve got some updates from visitors from this past weekend that we will post later today or tomorrow but wanted to get this quick note up.
– Kellen Diesch: 2016 OT Kellen Diesch (Trophy Club, TX) has de-committed from Arkansas according to a number of Arkansas reporters including our friend Richard Davenport. Diesch is a major OU target. He has visited OU on at least one occasion. His family is actually originally from Oklahoma. We have not had a chance to catch up with him but we fully expect Diesch to visit OU at some point. Diesch is a talented OT and obviously Oklahoma has a pressing need at the position so this is clearly a good thing for the Sooners.
Bedenbaugh landed a great class last year and if he can follow it up with another then OU can ensure that these talent gaps don’t occur in the future. – (Super K)

Wow, didn’t expect an Open Post after all the other great articles the past couple of days. Thanks!
Would be a huge steal…
I remember the name, but didn’t remember much about him. That offer list looks pretty legit.
Arkansas doesn’t deserve nice things. This kid can play and they’re just a friggin train wreck of a program. Get ’em BB!
*”Oklahoma has a perfect record going into the showdown. Texas missed having a perfect record by one game.”
*”I’m confused. Is it texi uteri, Texus Uterus, texi uterus, texas uteri……”
*”Maybe Coach Strong lost his team when he posted his five rules of discipline to become a decent person, then began kicking players off the team for violating the rules.”
*”It may be a perfect storm for an upset, if OU doesn’t understand that the “rivalry mentality” typically means the chances of either team winning by any margin is really 50/50.
*”If Lampkin plays, they will try to brake his leg, referees be damned.”
*”The Cotton Bowl may very well split in half: one half Red and one half Burnt Orange and Grey – grey being the color of empty seats.”
What?
You lost me after “Oklahoma has a perfect record going into the showdown”
I thought it was pretty clever actually. Think about Texas’ perfect record ….
Ah, sorry yeah that’s pretty good. Well done.
LOL!
I posted this in the Daily as well but;
I wasn’t sure if I could find this anywhere online so I did a little work with numbers regarding P5 conferences. as of 10/5/15
1. ACC
Overall conference record (36-23) 61%
Out of Conference record (3-13)
vs P5 conferences (3-10)
2. BIG10
Overall (49-18) 73.1 %
OOC (9-13)
vs P5 (9-9)
3. BIG12
Overall (30-10) 75%
OOC (4-5)
vs P5 (4-4)
4. PAC12
Overall (38-17) 69 %
OOC (4-6)
vs P5 (4-4)
5. SEC
Overall (46-21) 68.6%
OOC (5-4)
vs P5 (5-2)
*** Notre Dame was credited as a P5 school. ND has beaten Big 12’s Texas, and ACC’s Virginia, and Georgia Tech. With a loss to Clemson.
I don’t understand these stats. Are you saying that the Big XII teams combined have only played 9 OOC games and have only won 4 of them? If so, that is obviously incorrect.
Same with the other conferences as well
OK, I’m missing something. In-conference record has to be 50% right? So, in the case of B12, if our OOC is less than 50%, how can our overall be greater than 50%???
Should make more sense
*****I forgot to edit out the OOC stats because I did not award wins for wins vs teams outside of the Power 5, only loses.
I can’t believe anyone would decommit from Arky after that huuuuuuuge Tennessee win.
..
^^^^^^^^^ love this

Thanks to the entire TFB team for all the information, insights and commentary. Really is appreciated from Katy, TX.
How about that Native Son Matt Dimon? He’s playing pretty well right now.
Yeah, I noticed that, and Stoops did, too, evidently, since he’s was one of the “outstanding players of the game.” Dimon was totally awesome Saturday! I enjoyed watching his grit and dominance.
Seems like every time I notice Dimon he is in great position but playing with no aggression. I admit, I don’t take notice of him on every down so it may be the exception.
247 has him going to A&M as of today.
Off topic, but I just read a terrible stat line. The Miami Dolphins, who signed Suh in the offseason, only have one sack. Guess who made that sack: Jordan Phillips, and he hasn’t been active for most of their games.
I watched that horrific early game from London. Phillips played sparingly. The Dolphins clearly have already mailed it in on their coach. If he’s even still the coach today?
Nope, Philbin got fired this morning.
Nope. Thankfully they fired him today. They have 3 Sooners and none of them have been properly used.
Bong horns scare me as Switzer said a scared team is a dangerous team
BOOMER great win
Yes indeed you can never go by records on this game. Its all about who wants it more.
That’s true. In most rivalry games, you can throw records, ratings and stats out the window. We need to be fired up and ready. This is the Red River Rumble. It’s a street fight.
Maybe OU is saving Lampkin and Overton for Baylor?
I think ou is saving them for next year
Except that Overton already played against Akron.
K, Wasn’t Diesch thought to me an OU “heavy lean” at one time?
It surprises me the lack of leadership on the texas team. Everyone turns to Heard like he’s Moses expecting some miracle. When he struggles … they throw in the towel. We need to get to him early and put him and the team in panic mode.
#BeatTexas
I know OSU shut down Heard by using a spy. Didn’t watch the UT/TCU game so I don’t know how they went about shutting him down. Do we employ a spy on Heard and if so, who?
Heard that OU doesn’t really operate like that but you never know. I think they’ll stick to what they’ve been doing.
OU has employed spies against running QBs in the past. I would think either Striker or Bond. Make Heard really think hard about running and getting lit up.
I’m not arguing because I don’t know but wouldn’t a spy be an inside guy? it would be hard to spy from the edge.
You beat me to it. If the LBs aren’t fast enough, you could have someone like Stephen move up on occasion.
I think in a traditional 4-3, it can be any of your LB, I guess stoops believes in the 3-4 that he would like his 4th pass rusher to be the spy. That’s what he alluded to in his presser.
I don’t think we will use a spy. Stoops usually does not do that. We will focus on stopping the run and making Heard beat us through the air. i don’t think he’s accurate enough to do it. We’ll throw some blitzes at him to rattle his cage.
Bob didn’t rule it out. Actually said something to the effect of “oh yeah sure we will” I think that had to be gamesmanship because it’s widely reported mike stoops doesn’t like to run a spy.
I think what we will do is just bring a late blitz occasionally and try to keep him in the pocket. I think we need to play tight coverage and take away his first options. Letting him have time to sit in the pocket and make throws on time will allow Texas to stay in the game.
How many sacks has texsa given up this year?
Looked it up- texsa has allowed, through 5 games, 17 sacks. OU’s D, through 4 games, has 13 sacks. No real need for a spy IMO.
Heard is their leading rusher this year by more than 100 yards. I think we should just pin our ears and go after him.
Yep, just keep on keepin’ on. This game, if played the way our D is capable of playing, could really give them the identity they’ll need to face the rest of the schedule, “in a great way”.
Not sure but we’ve given up our fair share.
Isn’t that what Baylor did against OU during the OU/Tulsa game?
I’m not understanding how we have room for Buchanan. We were supposedly full at S, and thus turned away Shurod Thompson. I thought we had only room for one more CB, and took Parker. Are we taking more CBs because of the nickel?
I’m confused too. Plus I don’t like turning away a top 100 guy for a potentially a 3 star. And I haven’t watched enough of Thompson but if he can play as well as Steven Parker then i sure as hell wouldn’t turn him away. If I’m mike and cooks, I want to find guys just like Parker.
His coverage so far this season has been impressive.
Maybe there were other factors with Thompson that caused OU to cool on him. I don’t just look at Buchanan’s 3-star rating; what I find more interesting is his offer list which reads like a 3-star. Compare to Dietsch, who is a 3-star but has an offer from everyone.
Good point.
Could be other things, too. Sanchez probably leaving after this season and there’s always the possibility of Austin and Taylor transferring out which would create even more depth issues.
Sanchez leaving would be a disaster for him. He is not physically ready for the NFL by a mile! D-1 WR’s drag him 5 yds after every reception. Imagine what Dez or Fitzgerald will do to him. I guarantee his draft projections come back as a late rounder or FA. He needs to spend quality time with Smitty and get much, much stronger.
I didn’t say he was ready. I said there’s a good chance he’s leaving. It’s not like he hasn’t hinted at it.
Am I the only one that thinks Sanchez would be making a huge mistake in declaring early? I’m not one to be down on the guy, but II just don’t see him going very early in the draft with his sizeand overall skill set.
I just said the same thing. Great minds think alike!
You’re not alone- he’s not ready. Not sure that staying another year would necessarily help his stock either, I think he is already who he’s going to be.
That’s about where I am. I like watching him, glad we have him, and think he is a good college corner. He may as well enjoy all the college ball he can get because IMO he will never be an impact player in the NFL.
I agree. All-Conference players don’t always make pro-ready players. He has the skills and instincts, IMO, but physically he just comes up short.
If he thinks he’s going into the NFL early, he better live in the weight room all winter. He’s not nearly strong enough at present to handle NFL receivers. Hope he stays, gets bigger and stronger, and has a great senior year.
If he gets a good draft grade back from the NFL, he’ll go. I don’t think that will happen though.
Have 18 DBs counting both those returning next year plus the verbals, with only 7 of them being safeties, despite the fact that they play 3 safeties and only 2 corners in the nickel.
Sanchez is good, certainly, but not good enough to leave early for the league, unless he has financial issues.
Transfers are likely, but even if 2 transfer, that would leave 9 CBs and 7 safeties.
Don’t count out an unseen transfer, like one of the Freshman that are redshirting this year.
All but one are playing, so I seriously doubt that.
Kellen Diesch is available?! Wow! Go get’em Bill. Kid’s a beast.
Anyone know the status of Daje Johnson; him and Heard are horn’s only hope.
Strong said that they plan to monitor his status all week. No word yet on whether or not he will play. I’m with you. I’d rather he not be available.
Saban had diarrhea of the mouth today. If there is a team in the country that the media never “buries”, it’s Alabama. They’re still ranked ahead of unbeaten teams from aTm, OU, Florida, and Florida St. in the AP poll. I want him to be the next coach at texas just to beat his ass every year in the Cotton Bowl.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000550566/article/nick-saban-blasts-reporters-about-media-perception-of-alabama
Not just OU but Baylor, TCU, TT, any team that runs the spread offense.
Saban is the whiniest, thinnest skinned, and most immature coach in the game. It’s remarkable to watch his little temper tantrums at neary every presser. But at any rate, if Bama misses playoffs I think he hits the road. He’s disgusted with not getting enough accolades from the Bama press.
The man-love he receives from Finebomb isn’t enough?
I totally agree, but you know what, his players love him for it.
Potentially good news on Diesch. Would love to see Boudreaux decommit, too. Then add Tramonda Moore and Johncarlo Valentin and call it good.
Bevo for breakfast. It’s not just for dinner, anymore.
Maybe it’s Moe Dampeer? They said he “transferred”, but……
Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. What a disappointment. Just work hard and go make your millions.
Whatever happened to Curtis Bolton? Does he play special teams
Yep. Solid player, just happens to be playing behind two pretty good ones. Him and Tay Evans both look the part. Don’t think they’re pushing the starters though.
He’s behind one of the best starting LB groups in college ball. He got time when we stomped Akron and I bet he’ll get in against other overmatched teams too (Kansas comes to mind).
I believe we see more of Swoopes than we do Heard. He gave us a tough time last year if I remember correctly.
I think UT is ready to hand things over to Heard. Swoopes may play some packages but I think Heard will play in 80%+ of their offensive plays.
Wonder if Levi Draper got to spend anytime with Boz on Saturday?
Prob hung at Bob’s for dinner- think Boz was prob there so it would seem likely but who knows?

The Guard next to Kellen Diesch #62 looks pretty good who is this kid?
Also not sure if this has been posted just noticed that the OU vs KSU game is at 2:30 PM on ABC/ESPN or ESPN2

He reminds me of Jamal Brown wearing that number.
Shurod Thompson to OSU Beavers
Strange. Maybe we dropped him for more than just filling up spots if he ended up choosing Oregon state.

Heard the game time on the radio this morning….now I will have to once again adjust my drinking schedule. 🙂
There is a schedule for drinking! I’ve been lied to all these years.
Lol, how you been?
Great. Been going to all the high school games at Skiatook. The wife has 2 grandsons playing for Skiatook. Getting ready for my 50 year class reunion at Sperry later this month. Happy hour about 3 times a week. Read all the posts every day. Great site.
You should post more, you’ve been missed.
I will. Time to hit the sack. Got to get up early tomorrow just cant remember why. Come see us on the Hill some time.
Will do, gotta get a hold of Baker.
Nice article, sorry if already posted.

Long but good. If my dear old granny hadn’t already passed, I’d have sworn she was the old lady telling Riley to run the damn ball. Lol.
yrs ago, I was visiting my father in a nursing ctr and I felt a tug on my sleeve……..looked around and down to see a little elderly lady, I said hello and asked if I could help her………”young man?! (at that time)……..when’s the texas game?”
That man is constantly looking at what you do well and has mad plans to use it against you. When the OL catches up, I really believe this offense will score on every possession.
Good article. I really like LR and was happy when he was hired. I like the fact that he knows how to make adjustments on the fly and continues to work hard during games. He isn’t a guy that needs halftime to “fix” things. He also is calm and I think this showed up big time in Tennessee, when he kept telling the offense to stay the course things will work out.
Travis Lewis was having a monstrous game until he got injured right before half time. I hope it wasn’t serious.
So that what this is with the Oline? A talent gap?
