Firstly, our prayers are with the victims and families of the 9/11 tragedy on this day that we are reminded of the atrocious attack leveled against our country and the innocent victims.

Brandon Stephens: Yesterday Oklahoma did something they haven’t done much of in this 2016 class. They offered a running back prospect. OU offered 2016 RB Brandon Stephens (Plano, TX). The offer was first reported by Brian Perroni of 247sports.com and I was able to confirm it via Stephens’ father.

Stephens recently committed to Stanford. This offer isn’t as big of a surprise as some might think. Stephens’ father let me know that, “Oklahoma has been in constant contact with Brandon.” He also added that Brandon camped at Oklahoma about three years ago. This is a prospect Oklahoma has clearly liked for a while.

Many may be wondering if this offer might means that Devwah Whaley has made a decision. Whaley told us this past summer that he will be silently committing before he announces his decision at the Under Armour game. As such it’s natural for many to wonder if this offer to Stephens is connected to Devwah Whaley perhaps making a decision. I cannot answer that question definitively. What I can say is that we have checked with a source at Georgia which is the first school Whaley set-up an official visit to. Georgia is one of Whaley’s admitted favorites and Whaley even said that he had the best relationship with Georgia’s running backs coach and coach Jay Boulware. Additionally, Whaley visited Georgia late in this past summer. Our sources at Georgia have told us that Whaley has not yet committed to them.

We will work to see what we can find out from sources close to the other programs Whaley is considering.

As far as Stephens goes, we aren’t sure what kind of push Oklahoma can make. Brandon’s father said that they are very comfortable with Stanford’s play on the field and their academics. He added, “we as a family are about the academics first.” But when I asked if a visit to OU is possible, Stephens’ father would not rule it out saying that it would ultimately be up to Brandon himself. – (Super K)

Marvin Terry: In yesterday’s Open Post we mentioned that OU hostedΒ an unofficial visitor last week in 2016 LB Noah Spears. We figured it would be good to check and see where things are with OU LB target, Marvin Terry (Dallas, TX). Alex spoke to someone close to Terry. He was told that Terry plans on taking his official visit to Oklahoma on October 3rd for the West Virginia game. However, he was also told that the official visit has not been set up just yet. Alex was also told that Terry is expected to make a decision shortly after the conclusion of this season. So as of right now it sounds like a decision will come in November. – (Alex)
