– Weekend Recruits: Last weekend Oklahoma had three official visitors in Norman for the game against Arkon; OU commit CB Maurice Chandler, FSU JUCO commit LB Tyree Horton & OL Johncarlo Valentin. We’ve yet to connect with Valentin or Horton, but we did speak to a source about the trip in general for the two. I was told that Valentin had a good time, and it’s clear he is serious about the Sooners. I was told Horton had a good time as well, but this particular source got the sense that nothing has changed for the FSU commit. The impression I was given was that Horton remains solid to FSU. – (Super K)
– Blake Williams: A couple nights ago Brandon tweeted out the following regarding 2016 TE/ATH Blake Williams (Mustang, OK).
2016 @1BroncoFootball TE Blake Williams(@Blake_Hogan_)will be in Norman on Sept 19 for #Sooners game vs #Tulsa. @TheFbBrainiacs
— Brandon Drumm (@Bdrumm_Rivals) September 8, 2015
With the Sooners using a much bigger set of wideouts, along with the use of TE/Flex position, OU has been on the lookout for a guy to possibly help Mark Andrews in the coming years. They may have found such a player in Williams. The 6’4″ 230-pound player may be a new name for some Sooner fans, but we’ve been following Williams for a while. He was set to start last season with Mustang, and did the first week until he came down with a neurological illness. Which wound up sidelining him for the rest of his 2014 season. When Williams got cleared to resume football activities, he and his family started to hit the camp circuit to try and get his name out there again.
Williams was so impressive at the North Carolina camp that they offered on the spot. He then went to Alabama and showcased his skills for Nick Saban. The Bama staff was so impressed with Williams’ measurables, they asked him to hold off working out until later that afternoon so Saban, who was busy that morning with SEC media day responsibilities, could see things in-person. Saban was apparently impressed and Alabama has told Williams they will evaluate him in the next 2-3 games to decide whether or not they will offer. As a side note, Bama has two TEs currently committed.
Tight ends/inside wide receiver coach Cale Gundy has recently been in contact with Williams and invited the rising star to attend a game. And as noted above, Williams will be in Norman when the Sooners face Tulsa in a little over a week. – (Brandon)
– More on Williams: Just wanted to offer up a couple thoughts on Blake Williams and post a few camp clips just so you can see how athletic this young man really is.
I first heard about Williams from former Cal All-American, Geoff McArthur (who also happens to be Neville Gallimore’s old high school coach). McArthur was working a private camp in Oklahoma a year or two ago and had a chance to work with Williams. He called me (K) a day or two after the camp and raved about the OK Preps prospect. He said that even though Williams had been somewhat limited by a medical issue, he was a phenomenal athlete; a guy who could play either side of the ball.
Williams is just a big, fast guy. What is really remarkable about Williams is how well he transitions. And what is even more remarkable is how mentally tough the young man seems to be. He’s already overcome a major life obstacle and it hasn’t deterred him from being one of the hardest working recruits I’ve come across. Below are a few clips of Williams in camp this past summer.
Blake1 – Catching the ball against tight coverage
Blake3 – Amazing how well the big guy sinks his hips and gets out of his break
Blake7 – Another one on one grab
Blake4 – The big guy can run!
– Team Note | Dru Samia & PJ Mbanasor: Samia has obviously been competing with Josiah St. John for the starting right tackle spot and eventually earned the start this past week. I have been told Samia also received all the first team reps yesterday, so it sounds like he could very well make a second consecutive start on Saturday. Although it’s worth noting Bob Stoops said on Monday regardless of who starts, he expects both will play against Tennessee.
Meanwhile, another true freshman in Mbanasor got the start last week as well. Stoops simply referred to the circumstances around the decision as a ‘team matter’ with regards to sophomore corner Jordan Thomas. And as I suspect many of you will recall, Thomas was in early on special teams and later entered the game during the 2nd quarter at corner. At this point we expect Thomas will start on Saturday, though that is certainly no indication of the strides Mbanasor has already made nor his play against Akron. In fact, Mbanasor held up pretty well against an admittedly pedestrian Akron passing attack. So don’t be surprised to see him on the field once again this weekend in Knoxville. – (Super K)

Boomer.
Thanks guys great info and news!
I’m very optimistic about our season. Mayfield has that Manziel swag ( which is an undeniable positive thing) without the attitude baggage. and it rubs off on the team.
I just cant get over his uncanny resemblance to Mark Sanchez, of USC and NYJET fame. Seriously, when the dude was running around sidelines with helmet off, I’m like “when did we get Mark Sanchez?” lol. Sanchez a good college qb though, so def no slight intended to Mayfield..
cmon man!!! Compare him to the butt fumble guy, lol
Hey, that was NFL. And I had forgotten about that. LOL!
This is our “hurdle” game. Get past Tenn, and it’s gonna be a rocket.
If we can jump on Tenn Early… Thatd be huge.
Definitely.. Need to quiet that crowd early
An Alex Ross return for TD at opening Kickoff would be nice. 🙂
I’m good with that.
I like the ball first… GO and score a TD early…
I always liked being on D first. Pop them in the mouth first, set the tone.
Switzer tactic.
yes it was……..
Akron found a way to stop this from happen don’t score , hope Tenn took notice LOL
Oh how could this possibly happen since all the fast guys are in the SEC. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
just the reverse will be true if Tennessee roars to an early 1-2 touchdown lead….Neyland stadium will be vibrating…..OU has to be careful not to forget about Dobbs …if he plays well, Tennessee probably wins…..
Hmm, what home stadium wouldn’t be Stephen?
Don’t think they can score enough with fewer possessions. I think Striker and Bond will stop the QB from hurting them with his feet. My only concern is MS not using Striker like he did against Bama. Must force Vols to throw the ball.
If we can run the ball against Tennessee, we will win it. But we have to throw to set up the run,
That will have to be the theme this season until the O-line has a bit more experience
I think we will use some draws/delays and screens this week. I would also imagine we will use some more two back sets with one of the backs kicking out to lead block. Riley did this a lot at ECU. We may see the diamond formation as well this week. Getting flowers, Mixon and Perine back there together….wow!
Yea, I can’t wait to see more misdirection plays with these two.
with Mixon popping out to WR and Tenn being stuck in a heavy set cause we have 3 RBs in the game. That would be too cool. I think we will see a some shuffle passes as well
We will get better at running the ball. Usually with a young OL it’s easier to run block or at least that’s what I’ve always thought. But I don’t think Riley wanted to show all his run plays last week since they could win relatively easily.
I think we will see more pulling in the run game and misdirection.
Tennessee gave up >400 yards passing last week.
We don’t have to run the ball well to win this game. I’d be surprised if our rushing stats looked very good after the game, unless we bust a long one or two. And I’m fine with that. Even if we can’t run all that effectively, simply having Perine and Mixon as options in the backfield should keep the Tennessee defense honest enough for us to throw the ball.
I agree. Unless we bust a long one, I would expect the rushing stats to be under 50-65 yards until the 4th quarter. Then, hopefully the 500 yards of passing we’ve had by then will translate to more running room, and the rushing attack finishes the game with 175 overall yrds.
OHHHHHH wouldn’t that be sweet!
I think so. Blast ’em with the Air Raid for three quarters, and when their LBs andDBs are exhausted from chasing receivers all day, pound them with Perrine, and an added dose of Anderson for flavor.
I like this game plan. Works for me.
I don’t know why, but I get this feeling Lincoln Riley will call one heck of a game this week.
Especially since he wasn’t real happy with the offense against Akron, and he has gotten his feet wet as the new OC.
yeah i think we’re going to see multiples of multiples. he will pull out all the stops. i really loved his comments about taking what the defense gives him. something we didn’t get any of the last few years. I think Riley is going to make one heck of an OC.
I watched Mark Andrews a lot when he was in the game…He left a lot to be desired as a blocker/in-line TE. He even wasn’t great out in space blocking. With that being said, he will create a lot of mismatches in the passing game. I think we’ll see even more out of him in Knoxville this weekend.
It reminded me of how well Blake Bell did blocking in less than a year of practice at TE. It’s a shame he didn’t get more opportunities in the pass game last year…Sounds like he’s really doing well in SF!
Yeah, given how no one stepped up after SS went down, seems like BB would have been given more throws.
He didn’t display great balance either on the pass over the middle. If he keeps his feet on that play I think he scores.
All fairness, I think he recognized that. You could see his reaction. This is something that only comes with practice.
I missed the 1st Q. How did PJ do?
I’m glad we dont get WVU on the road this year. Anyone going into Morgantown to play this year is running into a buzz saw
unfortunately, both TCU and BU escape too with home games against WVU
I think baylor will still lose to them
Yep. They’re gonna go Steve Buscemi (ala “Fargo”) and drag some fools through the wood chipper. TheHillbillies go undefeated at home this year.
Great write up, Thanks TFB!
Not sure if its been posted yet but it looks like Norvell is now the playcaller at Texas
Yeah, it was discussed in the Sooner News post if you are looking to catch up.
One thing of note that came up in my mind, is how well we have to start the game. I noticed that in recent OU games, whenever we come out and start strong, look in rhythm, we have won the games. @FSU, we came out and ran the ball right down the field, establishing good momentum, same with @ND, two picks and we were on our way, with Bama, even with the pick Trevor threw, we had no problems with the offense moving the ball on them. On the flip side, whenever we were in bad rhythm and started poorly it has always come back to bite us, can think of @TCU, vs KSU.

Call me crazy, but does anyone else notice the resemblance here?? (speaking of looks)
resemblance in what regard?
LOOOKS!
Ick
As long as Baker or our OL doesn’t do this…
http://img.pandawhale.com/61024-Mark-Sanchez-butt-fumble-gif-xDAf.gif
I recall that lmao
Well if Baker continues to knock the piss outta our players after every td, something like this is bound to happen to him… (but at least it would be AFTER the play, lol)
Ha! We may need to assign somebody to tackle Baker after a TD pass to keep him from nailing our receiver in a celebration slam! I was afraid he was the one that knocked out Dede’s tooth!! Lol.
According to some posters Ty Darlington would just fall forward if that happened.
That was Sanchez’s fault. Running into the back of the OLM. Idiot.
well, the numbers look the same.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB STOOPS
Beating the Vols would make an excellent birthday gift for Coach! So let it be written!!
So anyone have any idea what the odds are a head coach survives when firing a coordinator mid season? It’s typically a desperation move unless it involves some sort of scandal with the coordinator. I would think the odds aren’t very good.
To be more accurate, firing them after one game. He doesn’t have the pull Mack did, so much shorter leash. Plus we know some of the boosters didn’t like he hire to begin with.
Does mack pull a snyder?
Mack would not return. Even in a temp position.
Not only that, I don’t think he’s good enough to come back. I mean, the program started this decline on HIS watch, no way they’d want him back. Maybe they’ll sack Charlie and promote Norvell? <sarcasm
I wasn’t serious
Yes you were, I could tell. Don’t get me going. : )
Neither was I 😉
Busted. You think mack is good enough to come back. I’m telling
I actually do think he is good enough to come back, I’d take him as a full-time special teams coach.
I’m good with him gone. He can come back to tejas and let us whoop up on him some more. Maybe in that role
Charlie Strong must be a graduate of the Hillary Clinton School of Crisis Management.
Post of the day.
Why is it some people don’t understand that you have limited time to cut the cancer out? Cut deep, sacrifice good flesh if you must, but you’ve got about 90 days to get the job done in these deals. And Charlie’s waaaaaay beyond that.
After the opening game too. That just reeks of desperation and deflection of responsibility of HFC.
I think by first of year, AD & Strong are both gone. Buyout is piece of cake to these boosters. Next AD will come in and try to smooth relations within UT & conference teams, mainly OU.
If Strong were to get fired, that would be a travesty. If he was able to turn Louisville into a winner, why not texsa with all of its resources and rich recruiting ground.
This stinks and has the smell of something political, fat-cash boosters, and egotistical.
I’ve thought all along that Strong was a good coach but a bad hire. I don’t think he fits or understands the culture there. Eerily similar to us with Schnellenberger. Came from Louisville, coach that had some success, but didn’t fit or understand where he was.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS
Very good observation. Thanks, Bob. Always level headed and spot on.
Could not agree more! To live and Coach in Texas you have to firmly believe that Texas is the greatest place in the world and that nobody plays football better or does anything better. Mack Brown was perfect because he drank the Kool-Aid. As soon as it was reported by TFB that Strong was having trouble getting along with the Texas High School Coaches Association I knew it was going to be a difficult go for Coach Strong. He is still getting kids that grew up loving Texas but if he keeps alienating Coaches it won’t take long for the well to dry up! Add that to the ability to stay home and play in the SEC at A&M and the fact that Baylor is flying high. Coach Strong has an ever decreasing window to turn things around!
The thing is, if they let that well dry up for too long, it may be a long time before they get back. The kids they are recruiting now were in grade school the last time UT was playing for a championship. A&M, Baylor and TCU are all teams in Texas with more relevance to today’s players. A few more years and the kids will think UT football is one of those stories grandpa always talks about but nobody really believes him.
Who would’ve thought UT would be the 4th best team in Texas, or as they said on KREF, maybe 5th best behind Houston. Ouch!
Exactly. He doesn’t fit there, IMO. Doesn’t mean he couldn’t or wouldn’t have success in time, I think he would. But I still think it’s a bad fit. Not sure which would be worse, to let Strong go after this year, or to keep a bad fit around for more years.
It would be better if they keep a bad fit for a long time…it would make the RRR easier to win!
That’s what I was thinking. The program may be worse than I thought. I actually thought Strong would turn around the program, but this cordinator change after one game just doesn’t seem like an example of confidence in a program. It’s not so much that Jay Norvell is now the cordinator, it’s just that because the season has already started they can’t get someone with more knowledge or experience in running and developing a system.
That’s always the problem with letting someone go/demoting them midseason. All the good ones currently have jobs but aren’t going to leave their current team. I can’t believe they would have hired Norvell as OC if they were able to shop the market.
I wonder if that’s partly why they brought him in originally. Not as OC in waiting but similar to Mack bringing in Greg Robinson to wait in the wings for Diaz in case things didn’t work out.
The thing is Norvell doesn’t really have a good rep as an OC. He hasn’t called plays since ’07 and he got fired from his last gig. Not a ringing endorsement for a replacement. In that situation I would think you would go with someone who had been a good OC at a smaller college or one that had gotten fired with a HC who was having problems other than the O.
Good thing is he only has one direction to go. If he doesn’t get it done, not really his fault. He comes out pretty clean.
The following post on a Texsa message board gave me a good laugh:
This is what Norvell has done…
Norvell was OU OC 2011-2014 when OU blew us out twice. He was OC when they whipped Alabama in the bowl. He was fired only because Stoops didn’t want to fire his brother Mike who was their DC and deserved being fired.
by texasteve1964 on 09.09.15 11:37am
reply
Yeah, I checked out their message board after it came out. Lots of that going around. The only thing in that that makes sense is he was the OC. But even that isn’t completely true he was co-OC, but he wasn’t the play caller. So not sure how any of that was relevant.
It’s not just Strong or the football program. There are other serious issues at UT. The whole damn school is one cesspool of good old boy favoritism. Mack Brown wasn’t a good coach but he was great at greasing the alumni. The new AD is trying to cut out other favors for alumni and that’s pissing off folks.
So many issues in Austin and big troubles in Texsa. Rehire Mack!!
Yeah, it’s a desperate move and desperation is the worst cologne. I would think he would have 3 years to prove himself, but if Strong gets blown out like that a few more times this year, he may not make it past 2 seasons. And let’s be honest, a lot of the UT faithful like Red McCombs didn’t seem too happy that they hired a black coach. Sure, he said it was “inexperience” as a head coach, but the way he spoke when Strong was hired sure sounded like something deeper than inexperience. Interesting that Bob Stoops’ was only a coordinator when he was hired…
Let the Saban to UT start now ( I think the game is starting to pass even the great Saban by ( though he is going to the hurry up now too) ).
Could someone re-post the pic of Mixon hurdling the guy near the sidelines from the 3rd Qtr of the Akron game please- I can’t find it again.
Thx!

That’s awesome- did you notice the kids shirt, top right? Says “Just Fly”
I do now. Nike should pick up on that.
Why is that Akron player taking a nap on the sideline?
He was formerly the hurdle?
Yeah I guess that could make you pretty tired.
They were told to play dead if they see Perine coming and he mis-read the play. The Mixon game plan was SUPPOSED to be run in slow motion as he flies by.
“That’s what 5 stars looks like”
-Akron bench
#54 is thinking, Really?? Wow, that was cool. I think I will just stop and watch, may not see that again. Hmm, note to self, don’t go below the waist.
I thought he was thinking, “Hey, can he do that?”
Or “Shouldnt that #25 be wearing a cape?”
Hope you all like.
Me likey.
Nice! ! !
Mixon wasn’t showing off, he simply replied “OK” to that fan’s blue t-shirt in the crowd.
“AAAAAAAAAAHH DONT HURT ME!”
-Akron player on the ground
Here you go:
Sweet, thanks- the more angles the better. There was also one that had an Akron coach in the background with a look of amazement on his face…
That one is much better than mine at showing that he’s actually hurdling someone.
If this happens just 1 yard more inbounds he is probably gone for another long TD!
Having Baker is such a relief. But he’s gonna be even more jittery when the pressure gets dialed up. He has much better pocket presence than our last 2.5 starting QBs though
Also is Jeffrey Mead just a person who only catches the ball if it gently glides to him? He seems to give up on the ball if it isn’t precisely placed.
From what I hear Id say absolutely not. He’s made some very acrobatic catches in practice. As far as real games go we’ll soon know more but I wouldnt judge by just one game.
Acrobatic, one-handed ones at that.
K how mobile is this Tennessee quarterback Mike seems to always have issues with QB’s that can scramble.
VERY.
I can’t really see a scenario in which his mobility doesn’t cause problems for OU.
Thanks Jordan, guess we will find out just how good this D is.
he was without a doubt their scariest offensive player last weekend. dude can flat out move.
Line from Game one:
Joshua Dobbs
12 rushes
89yds
7.9 avg.
30 yds long run
1 TD
That’s a pretty good line even if it was against BG.
Yeah, we have to contain the guy for sure.
FWIW, most defenses struggle against a good mobile QB. It turns out that it’s hard to defend against someone who can evade the rush, pass downfield, or run it on you.
True guys that can do both put the defense in a bad spot it just seems like some teams deal better with it than others. I just wish at times when it 3rd down and 5+ yards to go they would have someone spy on the quarterback!
All we have to do is ring dude’s bell once or twice to make him flinch.
Mike also seems to have issues with non mobile QBs. So theres that as well….
Brutal Honesty LOL!
As said below he is very athletic. Might see quite a bit of the 2-4-5 Defense or traditional 3-4 to keep Bond and Striker on the edges all evening to hopefully contain him. It is probably one of those games were a lower sack number is ok cause you have to make sure and contain the QB and make him a passer! Just my thought!
Good morning SB NATION Question I struggle with memory bad operation GOD is good. Last year’s game against Tennessee didn’t Perrine put a couple of their db’s out the game.with injuries? I’m sure I remember all the db’s shied away from Perrine the second half. So now he (Perrine) is smaller, stronger, faster. Could some former db’s tell me your mind set when a game like this is in front of you and how did you face the challenge I’ll be watching. BOOMER
only one response.
Watch the very 1st few minutes of “tommy boy” when tommy’s running thru campus and that’s close

https://twitter.com/Jordan_Esco/status/641647803496689665
Thanks. Will take any advantage possible.
Yep, I’ll never apologize for beating a team with injuries.
OUch
Are they starters? If so, that will be hard, since their secondary seems to be needing all the help it can get.
Jordan in your opinion which receiver will have the biggest impact on this game?
Westbrook, or Andrews, or Baxter/all 3. They will look to eliminate Shep so those others will have to step up. Maybe Neil will continue his improved play.
And yes I know I’m no Jordan.
Lol no problem thebigdroot take all the input I can get. I think Andrews has a huge day, if Tennessee db’s try to jam at the line of scrimmage they will have a hard time jamming him with his size.
I think this is one of the reasons he didn’t play much last week. Keeping a few toys in the closet.
but you are the one and only TBDR!!!!!!!!!!!
Just emulating you Woofer.
Durron Neal, he’s gonna take a few screens for 10+ and keep some pressure off Mayfield in the process
Sterling Shepard
I can dig it. Even if he doesn’t get his, he’ll big a big reason why the others get theirs
For sure. I know we are all excited about our other weapons this year but Shepard is our best, most proven receiver until someone rips the title from his claws.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-OYKd8SVrI
last year the answer to this question was … [silence] …
Neal!! My man Neal is going to eat their corner alive, lets go!
They won’t be able to cover our WRS. They can only hope to pressure Mayfield into errant throws or hurries. But with the LBS having to watch for the read and cover backs on swings/wheel routes, when the DL pushes we can shovel pass them to death.
I really want it to be Andrews, but if I had to bet actual $ on it I’d probably have to go w/ Shepard.
Shepard is a tough match up for just about any DB.
It’s gotta be Shep or Westbrook.
Huge OU fan but got to show some love to #54 Evans the LB from Akron. Kid got put in impossible situations all evening. He was flexed out on Mixon and Shepard a lot in that game and kid kept playing hard and had 8 solo tackles and 13 total tackles to lead the team. That is what is so great about this offense is getting 2 of your better athletes lined up on LBs for most of the game. Anyway Kid showed a lot of heart and I wanted to say so!
Thanks for posting the videos K. Is Williams a tight end or h back?
I’ve saw some forecast for the game over the last few days. How much pressure is on the line this week to establish the run? A lot of screen passes but hopefully if it does rain it won’t hurt the pass game too much.
Weather looks perfect for football. Low temps, might get a little wet. Their field is grass with a sandy under, which is similar to OU’s. Unless it’s a deluge, the field should be fine for the run or pass.
Awesome! Thank you, and I can’t wait!
OK, whatever…
http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/tennessee-football/position-by-position-oklahoma-tennessee/
Looks as if you and I need to find a better way to spend our time.
Interesting bias.
Wow. Delusional. And what is an “sec fan” like one of the commenters said? I don’t need to use other’s doings to make me feel better about myself
Agreed. If you are Tennessee, Alabama, or Florida, you have enough program history to feel some pride in it without having to play up the conference affiliation angle. I get why the Mississippi schools do it, but not Tennessee.
Got to remember how much love SEC fans have for Bob.
According to this pro-SEC article the only position-by-position edge we hold over Tennessee is with our linebackers. Good bulletin board stuff here, haha.
http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/tennessee-football/position-by-position-oklahoma-tennessee/
well you really can’t put too much stock in that article when he says that Wade is the only Sooner D-lineman with starting experience.
Yeah, him and KJ Young
Somebody sneak about 100 copies of this article into our locker room
OU gives up 88 yards passing, vols give up 430ish.
Secondary: Equal
Totally fair assessment, right?
YEAH BUT THEY PLAYED BOWLING GREEN GUYS
The same Bowling Green that only had 170 yds passing against the Akron team we just played, but had 433 yds passing against Tennessee? That Bowling Green?
Would that be like comparing last years OU to this years OU? 😉
Yeah, but it is as relevant as what is in the article.
Without a doubt.
YEAH BUT THAT WAS LAST YEAR GUYS
This was my favorite comment from one of the readers, “Please tell me this “writer” wrote an article before last year’s game as well? Please? This reads like a stroke patient did the research, Butch Jones wife wrote about the Tennessee players, and Finebaum did the part about the running backs… two is better than one? Tell me, oh great and mighty Oz, which one of the OU backs would you not trade for yours? Mixon? The guy you wanted so badly when he visited? Or, Perine, the current single yardage game record holder, that ran for over 1,700 yards.
I swear, if I didn’t know better I would think Littleton or Plaino wrote this stool sample.”
In all fairness, our DB’s were never challenged last week. Neither of their QB’s could hit open receivers when they did have creases. I believe our DB’s are going to be better than okay, but have seen very little to confirm it to this point.
of course, because sec.
That article was hilarious… .discounting what Perine did all of last season, then using our DB’s performance last year against them. So much homer.
IMO
QB – Push
WR – OU
Oline – Tenn
DLine – OU
Backers – OU
RB – OU
DB – Tenn?
I also hate the whole QB vs QB, WR vs WR, etc discussion. Our WRs are not going to play against their WRs. Our QB isn’t going to play vs theirs. Our OL isn’t going head to head with theirs. I hope that our rotation in the OL will win out vs theirs at DL, and the rest will flow from there.
If you are going to analyze it, you analyze the match up’s not the position groups.
Agreed. It’s our system that is much better than theirs, IMO, on O. SEC Os are pretty boring and if you have athletes, which all good P5 teams do, you should be able to stop the run, or slow it down considerably. It’s our new O system that is hard to defend w/all the playmakers we have.
that’s not really what’s happening. you take our position group and look at their matchup and then take their position group and look at their matchup and then you say which you think will have the better day or who you think is better or whatever. so its not just our rb’s vs their rb’s etc etc
The SDS writer compared our position groups straight up, not against the matchup of offensive and defensive position groups. I’m criticizing that inept comparison.
Oh, well yeah. That guy sucks. I agree with SGE on the funniest comment. Hot garbage is what that article was
i’d go:
QB-push
RB-moderate lean OU
WR-heavy lean OU
OL-moderate lean UT
DL-slight lean OU
LB-slight lean OU
DB-slight lean OU
ST-slight lean OU
coach-heavy lean OU
DB should be wash, thats only because we don’t know how good JT and PJ can be, their DBs and Safeties are quite terrible.
I also would give RB to them, since their OLine is better.
“Jordan Wade is the only returning Sooners defensive lineman with starting experience, a huge break for a young Tennessee offensive line.”
What….. the….. ****?
Does anybody do their homework anymore?
Also STs big big adv to us. Their kicker missed 2 FGs, and we have the best kick returner, and a damn good kicker.
DEFENSIVE LINE – Tennessee: UT’s Derek Barnett and Curt Maggitt are ready to disrupt and manhandle a suspect Oklahoma offensive line. Mayfield will likely be pressured from the get-go. Jordan Wade is the only returning Sooners defensive lineman with starting experience, a huge break for a young Tennessee offensive line.
This writer lost all credibility when he said that Jordan Wade is the only returning Sooners defensive lineman with starting experience.
Say hello to Mr Tapper.
And I don’t care about Walker not having “starting” experience. His presence will be felt. I have no doubt.
Well, look at the website’s name: Saturday Down South. That says it all. I have a website too. It’s called “Sooners Kick Ass” and, surprisingly, I’m picking OU to win.
Hmmmm…
https://twitter.com/peopleNewz/status/641695781465026560
Does she play the cute girl or the bouncer?
Says shes going to star so I assume she’ll be Dalton.
Could she double as a S for OU?
RBs wouldnt be stiff arming her I know that.
during a pile up, her arm bar may come in handy.
Was just talking about Roadhouse. Was watching Sam Elliot in Justified. Long time since he was Swayze’s sidekick in the movie.
does anyone think that Tech has a chance to beat Arkansas? That and OUr guys against Tenn are about the only non-conference wins the big 12 can still get to earn respectability. I would say Cal but I don’t see how Texas could pull that one off.
Nope and nope
Tech will not beat Arkansas. Texas really should beat Cal, but they also should have scored more against ND than Wofford managed against Clemson.
Tech gave up 45 to sam houston gezzzzzzz
yeah I don’t think they will either but man I do NOT like Bielema. He’s very disrespectful to other programs.
I (dare I say) rooting for Tech not to get embarrassed…make it competitive or even pull it out…although a good a&% whuppin for nature boy is always enjoyable to watch…
Nope…if they can’t stop the run (which they can’t)…the clock is in the Hogs favor…long sustained drives resulting in touchdowns are killers…but lets see if they can block the Hogs pass rush…I think the hog DBs will play mixed coverage and pressure the QB..could be successful…could be risky…will be fun to find out…
Arky will have over 500 rushing yards. It will be ugly as TT has absolutely no D. I would like TT to win but how would be difficult to describe.
could they have the worst defense in the big 12 since 2012 WVA?
I think TT is in line to be worse than their D last year. Geez, they are in a world of hurt. Kansas, ISU, TT, & UT are all in quick sand. Trying to get out but just getting deeper.
eh..just makes the path to the playoff that much easier
Hopefully it helps build confidence, lets the starters rest, and allows the new players more live reps.
Arkansas has added a passing game this season so if they can’t really stop SHSU then they might be in line for what TCU did to them in 2014. UofA has a pretty good defensive front, too.
The Tennessee game strategically, is not a must win in my book (I know blasphemy), given the new “Playoff” environment (as proven by tOSU). As long as OU doesn’t “Texas” all over themselves and remind national onlookers of what they saw in the last bowl game; continue to improve winning out against the B12 favorites; winning the games they are suppose to win (I hate that saying but useful – you always win and lose the game you are suppose to based on how you perform that game..not prognostication, hypotheticals or potential). If they win the B12 they are most likely in the playoffs…
I’m sorry, they’re good but I’m not overly impressed. We look evenly matched.
What are you “sorry for”? lol… If you are a good observer…thanks for the insight…but are you saying you are not overly impressed with OU either? I mean since we look evenly matched. Just curious for a little clarification…thanks…
Agree. We are probably better, but the home field advantage offsets that.
Yep.
if the OL can hold up, Mayfield is going to have a field day on a defense that gave up 400+ passing to Bowling Green
If he can play within himself and within the system. He will be hyped in that environment, and needs to contain it somewhat.
no doubt, he needs to just take what is there, even if it’s only 5 yards on 3rd 8
they should be better THEY SAY with their DC back. We’ll see I guess if it makes that much difference.
It won’t. Baker will have more options than the 1st night of the Bachelor.
I agree that it is important for both teams, but I don’t see a must win for either team.
UT seems to be getting better and probably will continue to get better, win or lose. OU could lose and still have a legitimate shot at being 8-1 going into the final stretch.
I think the winner gets a big boost but I don’t see the loser tanking the season.
agreed. and, i thnk we win
I think the only game ou can drop is Baylor. I think tcu is a 3 loss team so that wouldn’t be a good loss at home IMO.
To me the Tennessee is a must win more because it’s going to help get the bad taste out of our mouths from last season. Beat a ranked sec team on the road and I think it can really get the confidence back where it needs to be.
We will get more national respect for beating Tenn. by a point than we would blowing out everyone in the Big twelve. That’s how I see it anyway.
Agree. Also, I can see it now, OU beats a depleted Tennessee team that is rebuilding.
Disagree. I think Tennessee is absolutely a must win. They’re ranked and they’re SEC.
What I haven’t heard much of and it may be ‘as matter of fact’. The increase in game speed for both Tennessee and OU. The overall team speed for both will increase from their last opponents. Wonder who will acclimate the fastest?
ESPN NEWS 9/13/15
“Easily the best game of the weekend featured an incredible
showing by both STRONG SEC teams despite not scoring a single touchdown and
having a combined 15 turnovers as LSU tops Mississippi State 6-3.”
“And in other news Oklahoma wins in week 2.”
Is that a prediction for the LSU game? If the game’s in Starkville, I’ll go with MSU. And I agree with the second prediction: OU wins.
Brotherhood will triumph on Saturday. BOOMER
Looks like rain for Sat game. Hope we run the crap out of the ball.
Amen. I like our chances running the ball better than UT. I know they’re 3-headed but we got Perine. I gotta believe he’s a mudder. And I know about the OL’s struggles vs Akron, but the greatest improvement comes in the 2nd week, before the 2nd game. Coach B will have solved the issues. He did vs. Bama. He will vs. UT.
he had a month for bama
Smart move…
https://twitter.com/OU_CoachStoops/status/641433250372521984
They should posterize that tweet and hang it in the Switzer Center. Trophies and rings are awesome, for sure, but the big bucks is better.
Texas has big bucks and look at them. I would rather have trophies & rings. Then I would have an area of NFL accomplishments that is separate.
They have all sorts of stuff about Sooners in the NFL.
Am I on the right track here? We did beat these guys last year 34-10 with close to the same team (personnel) as we have now correct? Granted we lost some line and our defense was terrible last year. I’m just not seeing OU losing this game. Tennessee can say they are a year older etc., but we are too.
We didn’t just lose some of a line. Realistically, our OL was decimated. That’s huge. Plus we have a QB that is still figuring out the game and has not played an away game since 2013. That’s enough to be concerned over for sure.
I have more confidence in Baker already, but you know I was never a TK believer even after the bama game. I know we lost some line, but with a D that held them to 10pts mostly all returning? Granted we did take a TD to the house off an INT for 100 yards. Guess I’m just crazy 🙂
Did you see the OU game Saturday? There were missed blocks all down the line. And that was against Akron. They are most certainly NOT the Vols.
Well of course I did. Why else would Perine only have like 33 yards. I am not saying Akron is/were the Vols.
Sure they missed blocks in the 1st quarter. Scored on what 4 straight possessions afterwards. Not shabby. I think you are drinking the SEC kool-aid. Vols have done nothing except recruit which so far, has not translated to on the field success.
Then again, Knight shredded the Vols last year.
New OL (Samia, Alverez, Brown) new QB (Mayfield) 2 new WR’s (Westbrook, Baxter), new TE (Andrews), new FB/HB (Flowers). The offensive personnel isn’t anywhere close to last season’s game vs. Tennessee. On top of that we have a new Offensive Coordinator with a completely different offensive scheme. Pretty much there’s very little similarities at all to last years OU offense.
An interesting bit of research from Tramel.
“Since Colt McCoy’s injury in the 2009 national title game, the
Longhorns are 36-30. In the preceding 76 games leading up to that night
in Pasadena, the Longhorns were 68-8.”
http://newsok.com/tramel-is-texas-football-about-to-implode/article/5445537
The culture of Texsa in general has always been odd. There is something deeply dysfunctional with Texsa athletics and it doesn’t begin or end with the new HC.
Too many decisions made by cash.
Having gone to school there, I believe it begins with their institutional arrogance which leads to bloated egos. If they every experience ego loss, and that is a big if, they could turn things around.
Some old money or boosters need to let go in order for the right folks to right the ship. UT has so many billionaire boosters that it’s hard to cater to all of them. UT may need a union as a go between for the UT boosters (owners) and the Pres/AD.
It’s their culture, let them wallow in it. I had them mail my diploma and was glad to be done with them for good.
serious question………what did you study, major in there…….thxs
Double major…Business and Science.
Grad school at TAMU…Masters of Public Administration.
Sooner fan at the age of five.
I figured if DKR could stand living and working there for so many years I could put up with it for a few years.
well, interesting background, interesting man…….thxs, carry on
It was out of convenience.
My last duty station in the USAF was Bergstrom AFB, now Austin’s Bergstrom Int’l Airport. Started sending out applications a few months before discharge and Texsa was the first to write back and accept me. I decided that, all things considered, I wouldn’t have to move, already had family and friends near by and I wouldn’t have to pay out of state tuition. Austin wasn’t quite the hippy/hipster Hell-Hole it became later back then and there was lots to do and no big crowds or traffic. I had them mail my diploma, no way I was appearing in a flood of that sick color.
I only owned one piece of clothing with the “diaper surprise” color, that was a 1979 Austin Relay shirt that my Aunt and Uncle gave me after their oldest son(LSU) won the 1500 meter steeplechase at the meet, beating the current world record holder from Kenya.
Made my last visit there in 1986 and swore I would never go back…and I haven’t.
That’s a crazy coincidence. You know what is also a coincidence? 2009 was in the thick of the USC investigations.
They are very soft. They are a country club athletic program and more concerned with egos that with the sacrifices that must be made to have a winning program.
The story about Mack never offering a scholarship unless he knew in advance the answer was affirmative, was true, and extends to the way that the university recruits for non-athletic positions. I have first-hand knowledge of the latter.
They represent underachieving to the highest level.
I have a feeling we’re going to see a totally different OL this week. The guys know how they performed last weekend, and I’m sure Coach B has expressed how that’s unacceptable on all levels. I heard that they watched some film on how the OL played last year and what they are expected to do. They’re fired up for practice and I’m sure they’ll be extremely fired up for Sat night.
https://38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m934hfztvH1r1ang0o1_400.gif
It doesn’t bother me as much when a player makes a mistake at full speed, giving full effort. That’s what I want to see from the Sooners, max effort and a burning desire to win.
Absolutely…now combine that with sound technique and error free blocking assignments….now we’re cooking with gasoline!
https://38.media.tumblr.com/ad3e596629735c839b77abd2b208a998/tumblr_inline_ntfqd8By1e1sobk6c_500.gif
Screw up at a high rate of speed and you stand a chance of outrunning your mistake. 🙂
Screw up at full speed and at least it shows they are giving max effort. I saw glimpses of max effort from a few players. I want to see them all in, chomping at the bit to take the field like the 2011 team at FSU…they could barely contain them from taking the field during the run in.
Oh tOSU series is going to be fun 🙂
Been thinking about this for awhile now- envisioning Seibert filling the role of Uwe Detlef Walter von Schamann!
Von Siebert!
So let it be written…
Could I have a bratwurst with that please? 🙂
and a dark beer brewed by Monks?
Talked me into it!
Let’s give it the rest of the season, or at least a few more games before we go anointing that, but yeah, Great name!
Don’t step on his blue football shoes.
Was that a “blue suede shoes” reference? Telling your age Tex?
Yes it was, old timer. 🙂
As if the OL isn’t already fired up…..
https://twitter.com/DBL_L_01/status/640331181423218688
It’s all a part of our evil plan…
I hope there are some Tenn fans where ever I end up watching the game…
The comments were revealing.
So do we go for the throat right off the bat and attack the secondary? Then run more in the 2nd half? Or establish the run first? I think Linc is thinking….lets go for it….trick play first play of the game for a TD to shut that crowd up!
Were I calling the plays, I would start off with quick throws, move the ball and score. Put them on their heels while making the DL get worn down from trying to get to the QB, then when they are huffing and puffing go full tilt HUNH.
I think LR lets the D dictate his play calling so it all depends on what they’re “giving” us.
I just like the how a long pass (30-40) first play of the game can shut a hostile crowd up so quickly. I think they’ll play deep coverage and then we’ll go underneath like ET says. They definitely don’t want Mead and Dede getting behind their DBs.
I agree- maybe Ross can take it to the house right away as well.
Now that would be the ultimate.
I’d go bootleg off a play action zone read to the right. Baker rolls left, TN’s like, “WTF!?” And then Baker launches a bomb 57 yards to D. Westbrook, who was streaking across the middle on a looooong Post pattern. BOOOM!
Why’s Westbrook naked?
It’s the new alternate uniform!
Well, of course it’s because he was “expecting” the Naked boot, not the play action zone read. I guess he had the two bootlegs mixed up in his head. BUT, it IS easier to score when you’re naked!
Just catching a bit of the news and can’t help but think that TU is going to really test us next week- I certainly hope we don’t take them lightly. 1st yr. coach was Baylor’s OC:
http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/73672/meet-the-playcaller-behind-baylors-rise
I’m watching a replay of the texsa/ ND game because there is nothing good on the comedy channel. 🙂
You might want to check the listing again. 🙂
In fifteen minutes OU Playbook comes on Fox Sports Central.
I was just trying to picture the expression on your face if you were forced to sit in the stands as these two teams played. LOL!
And I would like to see the look on the person/s face/s that tried to force me to sit there. :->
It appears I don’t have that fox channel. 🙁
It will be on FSSW tomorrow.
I have FSSW and FS1. That’s good.
and what channel might that be on DirecTV
Don’t know.
608, but it is not on DirecTV from what I can see
bummer
Check your local Fox Channel.
i did… no go
What state? Oklahoma?
Yes
Thanks, EasTex. VCR set. Going to read with my daughter before she goes to bed.
vcr, what’s a vcr? 😉
TiVo like recording device
DVR
It’s when 8-track meets CB radio.
Reel to Reel, baby
Been there!
My brother had an Akai with a built 8-track and radio.
I found a Sunni Ade backyard party set on one my folks recorded in Nigeria in the 1960s
Oops! Haste make waste, as they say.
I think its kind of like a “payphone.”
I miss those…..a quarter wasn’t hard to carry. 🙂
A dime, my man, a dime.
The change slot…..buy a soda after the call. lol.
Any word yet on R. Broyles TFB? Any teams showing interest in picking him up?
I want him to get picked up more than anything but if not, it would be awesome to see him here breaking down receivers and DB’s.
I think Ryan has more football in him. Had a rough 3 or 4 years but the man can be a solid receiver still. Not sure how much the injuries may have slowed him down but his game was not dependent on his speed it was more of his feel and his ability to find the hole in a zone.
Had to share this…. You’re welcome.
http://youtu.be/BCIYIwGrhOs
Awesome!
Nice… kept waiting for footage of Big Tex en fuego.
Glad they didn’t. Big Tex represents the state of Texas, Texsa doesn’t.
Meh. It still would’ve worked for me
Was that Charlie Strong saying “never let go of my hand” ? 🙂
I was disappointed; they only showed the Striker hit once. They should have just shown that one over and over.
I hope they just give up football
They pretty much already have.
And that’s a wrap.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
I bet it feels good to be bad.
Ok, open post and late evening. I have heard comments this week that ND is better than expected and I have for the first time watched their game against texsa. I’m sorry but I didn’t see a ND team that was more talented than OU. What I did see was a soft, poorly coached texsa team. Did I miss something? Did anyone else see ND do anything spectacular?
I was bored off my butt within a couple of series. That might have been the worst coached football team I’ve seen since john Blake. Completely serious. Zero atmosphere either at the game.
So I bet your household whorn is feeling good this week. LOL.
In fairness the whorn had zero expectations. Zero. Coupled with him wearing an ND shirt when we went up for OU/ND…. We had an amazing time at Wrigley though ???
hey hey JJ. Long time, how’s everything been going? way too busy for me.
How are the girls?
Doing good. Growing like weeds. My youngest will be 8 months in a few days. She’s been crawling for almost 3 months already and she’s gonna walk anytime now. She’s starting to balance herself really well. She’s in 92nd percentile in height so she’s going to be tall.
Call Sherri Coale. 🙂
Pediatritian said 5’8” or taller! So hopefully she has that height with my athletic ability and not my wifes.
I didn’t know they could predict that. Ima gonna haul my crew in and see which ones I should cut loose.
Thin the heard. 🙂
hahaha, sometimes you gotta make the hard decisions for the team. I never knew they could either, they never predicted anything like that with my oldest girl.
How’s your oldest? Did she play softball this summer?
she’s doing good, she played but they didn’t get to play too many games because of rain and all that. She’s getting really tall as well. gonna have a couple of really beautiful girls on my hands, next few years will be stressfull. How are your’s.
I feel for you brother….managing two beautiful girls will be a challenge. Keep your shotgun loaded! haha.
Shotgun, AR, Glock..Whatever is close and none of them are ever too far away 😉
Has work picked back up?
Nope, still working 2 jobs waiting for something decent to come along. I’m not very patient so I’m tired of waiting, really need a good paying new line of work
Ugh. Sorry to hear.
Oil is tough. So sorry to hear it.
It’s good when it’s here, but nobody pulls up stakes quite like the oil companies.
I’m with you. I was so much more unimpressed with texsa than i was impressed with the irish. I see ND as your typical ND team, they’ll get good and overhyped early on and fall flat later.
Exactly. ND was respectable as they normally are and texsa…….sad,sad,sad.
Hey friend!
Not sure if this was posted anywhere yet… Kind of entertaining. Striker vs SEC
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/25295572/oklahoma-lb-eric-striker-vs-sec-gas-em-up-bring-em-down-to-earth
It was talked about all day on sports radio…..pretty funny and harmless.

This would be big boom.

Who is this?
The #1 guard in the country, 2017.

Thanks, EasTex.
Do you think Parker B. is going to stick with the fighting leprechauns?
No idea.
Made his top 12

Not much slop on that list.
8 suc schools…
I should be packing but I am not yet
I have found that bourbon in plastic bottles travel well. 🙂
I needed that… Lol.
Sooner Ray, you’re going to get JJ in trouble. Plus, she’s heading to where the bourbon flows like a river.
I know that gal……she doesn’t need my help. 🙂
I am really laughing now… I can get into trouble well enough on my own! The 2 of us together would burn it all down 🙂
Down to the ground! lol. So my mom…yes my mom calls me today wanting me to come by and look at her new 4 wheeler…..lmao!….I still remember the day she talked my dad into letting her ride his motorcycle and crashed it into a power pole in the yard. HAHA!
Oh my gosh! I can’t imagine your dad staying too upset! But yikes! So how is the new toy?
It’s good for her, told me she needed it so she could make it from the house to the pond without getting ticks and chiggers. lol.
They still at same place?
Yep, the place I grew up on.
I thought they were, but it’s been at least 3 years since I talked to them at one of the home football games…
I haven’t seen your parents since sometime last year in Owasso.
My mom “cut down” to 2 days a week at school this year. My dad eats like 10 meals a week in owasso ? while visiting Lowe’s lol
I think he likes Larry’s Chicken. lol!
They are NEVER open when I come home!!
It’s a crap shoot.
Yup. He likes Freddie’s too. He’s so funny.
I tried to email you pics of Neyland…bourbon on board
I received the pic, awesome! Are you on the same boat with Jordan? I haven’t been active this evening because I’m watching the Jenks/ Union Backyard Bowl. Jenks up 21-14 at half. Stoner for Jenks is having a monster game…..unfortunately I won’t be able to cheer for him after he goes to shitwater. OU commit, Tre Brown, had a nice pick and long return.
Yes with Heath & Jordan
All of you better drink one for me….as if I need another! Haha.
Shut up. Been sitting at this stupid restraunt long enough to sober up…. It’s raining .. That’s all I got. Tossing back red draws as fast as I can
You know Trimble is married to a cville girl?
I think I have heard that.
Yeah… Don’t know why just seeing it… Her mom & dad graduated w/our moms…
Buddy of mine (Crutchfield) told me that but I don’t remember the name. I may not even know who she is. If you know, shoot me a name here or e-mail.
Emailed you.
How is Jay BTW?
I need to call him. He left his accounting position at VVEC and went to work for American Bank. Haven’t talked to him in a while.
Sent from my iPad
Wowzers. That’s kinda surprising
Oh my gosh! On one hand I don’t think I’ve ever heard your dad say no. But on the other hand I am surprised she asked! You’re mama is the sweetest ever…
Okay. I gotcha.
It’s all good… In any case I am excited about the trip!
You have fun. Be careful.
My brother says, “Life is full of chances. Don’t take any that aren’t necessary.”
No doubt! Mostly BC you don’t know the sugar bowl disaster. But hey! We beat bama!
That we did.
Nah that’s Kentucky… Ray knows what I like 🙂
Well, we need to spend some more time chatting it up.
I went to the OU/ND game in 1999. I can tell you this, that campus is off the chart. The fans were not hostile toward us at all. It was a great experience.
It was good times in 99 & again 2 years ago. Very nice fans. Spent more time this go around on campus, taking in some events etc, because I didn’t care about jinxing the game 🙂
That made me laugh. So, honestly, knowing that you wouldn’t get the satisfaction of seeing them both lose, who were you rooting for/against?
I was decidedly neutral in my white shirt… Then some ND fans were so smug & full of it that I was leaning towards cheering for Texas to NOT get annihilated.
Then karma came by. The guys sitting behind me were from Tulsa but live in Austin & wore OU hats with ND shirts so we all sat & just laughed about the dumpster fire…
Only moderately impaired
Dumpster fire, ha!
It what it is. They just elevated a guy OU fired…
The good part about that promotion is that it will take him away from working with the receivers. That’s a scary thought. Those WRs have developed as much as they’re going to this year.
See below
Although I actually thought for about 30 minutes last Friday at Wrigley I had too much 🙂
My wife calls that procrastination. She says I good at it.
So far I have 2 swimsuits & 2 ponchos packed!
Well on your way, then.
If you are going to wear a swimsuit…..why the poncho? 🙂
To keep the water off, silly. LOL!
????
For the win!!!
Swimsuits because we are taking the boat out with Vol Navy… I am a cville girl, you know I’ll jump in the water before finding an outhouse lol!
The poncho cause every time I am with Heath it rains. Every time..
No rain, please. Tell Heath the games in Georgia or something like that.
I honestly don’t see Tennessee winning the SEC East. We’re going to win and they will drop several more games.
My mother always said I was a procrastinator and I’ll be damned if I’m going to make a liar out of her!
I have progressed to having 4 things packed & 2 ponchos
Mother knows best.
She still tells me that, haha
You can never be reminded too much.
I’ll pack about an hour before I leave.
Which is Effing tomorrow!!! Tomorrow!!! Don’t forget your shoes!!?!?!? 🙂 we don’t need you buying shoes Saturday morning
Ah man, I had forgot all about that. Worst of all, nobody had a size 13 in a decent shoe. My dogs were barking!
I know! Lol! And someone else had the same ugly shoe! What did you end up doing with them?
I don’t know but I never wore them again. Probably threw them in the trash at the LNC.
Replied to wrong comment. I don’t think they made it out of Norman.
So long as we’re bringing up things that suck, wasn’t that the same game you found yourself stranded at campus corner?
If it was the Tennessee game then yes… ? that is when I got stuck. But I think your shoe game might have been the opener?!?
Prolly didn’t make it out of Norman for sure. You were complaining after the game about them.
Textanic – http://youtu.be/BCIYIwGrhOs
I wish there was a scene with Mack throwing the crystal ball into the ocean
LT…..”So whens Texas going to play that game in Dubai?”
……..”They’re currently being questioned by the State Department on why they are getting one way tickets.”
They’ll probably buy the return tickets as soon as Taco Tech pays them for their marching band tickets.

Chuck Carlton @ChuckCarltonDMN 21h21 hours ago
How complete was Texas’ loss to Notre Dame? TE Andrew Beck says Texas had 10 men on the field three different times on special teams.
That’s crazy. JJ was perusing the BC threads and forwarded to me this little jewel…
I like the delusion that their basketball team has been worth 2 craps. There are some golden nuggets about how Norvell was only fired to say Mikes ass.
You probably shouldn’t mention that to them. I don’t think they’re dealing in reality right now.
Well they sure aren’t a baseball school anymore.
Truth
I do like the bb coach they hired and his style of play…..good coach to add to the conf
Oh yeah I forgot about that
Wow, never thought i would see the day delusionial texsa fans would mail it in.
See I don’t like this. They are going to get so used to being embarrassed that it won’t mean anything any more when we humiliate them. I like it better when they still think they are good. Then when we beat them it hurts more. Now they are just going to be numb.
Yeah, nothing better than slapping a corn dog out of the hand of a smiling whorn fan.
More delusions about Jays OC duties
Cool, I’ll check it out. Lemme guess, they’ve somehow found promise in their own desperation?
You know he was tge OC for 2 of the ash/McCoy kickings. As well as the sugar bowl! He got fired to save mikes job 🙂 lol. Guess they forgot about Sybil er Josh I mean… I texted you a hilarious link. Comments being the gold.
Excellent. Schadenfreude makes for the best bedtime stories.
That’s a short bus kind of “special”.
Lmao! So true!
Who is texsa’s ST coach?

This is a scam. Damn it! I almost bit.
glad i pointed it out in time.

Where is the ban hammer when you need it?
If only i still had mine! I would be swinging it hard right about now.
That’s why I never gave you any lip.
i’m actually just a big teddy bear.
So do you know for sure they took your ban hammer away? I mean, have you tried logging in to see what would happen?
Yeah he took it away after i wrote that fan post right after Jordan left. Speaking of which I haven’t been to that site in a long time, is it still up?
Did he really? Did he say anything to you, or just delete your credentials?
Yeah, I read on Rocky Top Talk the other day that CCM only had 67 comments on the Akron game thread.
It’s true….almost sad.
I can’t be sad after what they did. Couldn’t have happened to a better bunch of people. And you know the reason why we didn’t get an explanation? Because there wasn’t a justifiable one.
That’s my opinion anyway.
this is what i think of when you guys start talking about over there
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuInkEF_dQg
That’s how it is but it thrived when some of us were there.
i found it about 2 months or so before “the happening”
Maybe this is just my opinion but I think the group that came from there to here is what got this place kind of off and running at a good speed.
yeah i was here for a little while and then these guys started catching 7 kinds of hell for the saban thing so that’s when my pot stirring days started. but yeah it seemed you guys showed round about that time too and it slowly got started with all of us rallying around these guys because they deserved it and then i think jordan came along shortly after
We came along with Jordan…..one by one anyway. The Saban deal happened shortly after that if I remember correctly, at least I know I first started reading it here..
oh ok. man, there were a bunch of people i wanted to knock out that day
i really think it would pick back up if “google jobs” would go there instead of here
lol

Agree, that’s why I finally just gave it up. I go take a peek now and then…..most of the threads have zero comments. They have to look at the activity on other SBN sites and wonder where they went wrong.
Yeah it was within a day or two. As soon as that post started getting rec’d through the roof he took all my admin privileges away. I could do and see all kinds of extra stuff on that site one day and the next I couldn’t do anything but comment and rec…All i did was stand up for Jordan and was pretty respectful about it but he wasn’t happy about it i guess.
You were very respectful, as was I, but I never received a response from him.
he never really said anything to me either. He just kinda quitely did everything, didn’t tell me he was doing it. That’s kinda why i disappeared from there so quick, I would have hung around but not in the capacity i had been. After he pulled that i just decided to spend my OU time here.
Your exit post is what convinced me that this was going to be the next great place to be. That and seeing the quality info that was being put out here and continues still.
Glad we all switched, great community! I had been coming over here since they started and it just kept getting better. With Jordan here this site was even more of a can’t miss. Plus the comments section is top notch for the most part
gotta drive home, talk to you later buddy.
Take care.
Well he doesn’t have to worry about controlling the message anymore since there’s nobody there to read it.
We are better for leaving.
My wife says I’m easier to get along with now.
In some ways, I wish that Jordan could have just stayed and brought the TFB crew to replace what’s at CCM. Their comments are a lot easier to navigate and it seems like they could get more promotion at SB Nation. TFB has such great content that they would probably be regularly be featured around SB Nation.
Then again, I don’t know what it’s like to work on the back end over there. Independence can be nice, too.
67 for a game thread, wow! Thats as bad as the puke site. Sorry to say but it doesn’t shock me. he was just an ok writer, Rich was bad..Jordan was the only talent they had there and he wasn’t afraid to take stand on something, which is what most people respected. I knew it would die down after Jordan left but not that bad.
Rich was pretty painful to read at times. Matt was ok, but not someone I would follow. I’m sure I wouldn’t do well at it either, but I wouldn’t be so arrogant as to not recognize the only talent there, nor would I run that talent off.
I wrote Jordan once and offered to handle copy editing for them. I was willing to just edit grammatical errors and bad punctuation if that’s all they wanted. Or I would have made suggestions on writing style if they would have accepted that, too. Jordan said that they didn’t want any help.
No thanks, this is no time for a pay cut. 🙂
Is Dustin interested?
He’s the one posting this crap!!!!! Tell him to stop!
He’s trying to get that flash light you won’t buy him. The poor man is moonlighting. Ha! Ha! Moonlighting.
What happened to Auntie?
Auntie Social either met the ban-hammer or she went dormant.
Cmon man its 98 bucks an hour. Just give them your SSN and they do the rest
Ha, jokes on them. Between my wife and myself, we do better than that and I get to post on a sports site for free. :-0 🙂
oh man, how sad……….https://twitter.com/Barry_Switzer/status/640625049263669248
