Just a heads up, Jordan will be out of town this week.
– Levi Draper: In-state talent is always good. It gives OU a better chance of re-stocking talent. But it’s unusual to see an in-state player offered by the likes of Alabama and Florida State before OU so some of you may be wondering where things stand with 2017 linebacker, Levi Draper.
Draper just returned from a trip where he visited, and in some cases worked out for, a number of schools. The 2017 linebacker told us that all the trips were great and everyone is in the running. In talking to the Draper’s I don’t get the sense that they really want to drag out the recruitment. According to them they’d ideally like to have Levi’s recruitment done before the start of his senior season.
Contrary to some of what has been put out there, Draper did grow up a fan of OU. So when they got the offer from defensive coordinator Mike Stoops, it was a big deal in their household. But even with that said, at the moment they’ve told me there aren’t any leaders with regards to Levi’s recruitment. They do, however, have a really strong relationship with Clemson DC Brent Venables, who made a point to fly out and see Draper during the spring evaluation period and the constant communication between the two has Levi feeling comfortable with him. Levi will be out to visit Clemson and South Carolina in the middle of July.
Levi did state that his relationship with OU started off slow, but has definitely picked up lately with some really good conversations with defensive coordinator Mike Stoops. He also added that he will be talking to the head man, Bob Stoops, on the phone today. All of that has OU swinging in the right direction with their OK Preps standout.
The Drapers have a busy July scheduled with potential visits to Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio State, USC and Stanford. – (Brandon)
– Quint Scoufos: Speaking of instate linebackers, 2016 Sallisaw athlete Quint Scoufos is a player to watch. Scoufos is a big fella! He’s listed at around 6’4 230 lbs and at OU’s recent elite camp I could help but hear some of the current OU players looking at Scoufos and commenting on what a big athlete he is. Scoufos plays a few position for his high school including quarterback and safety (yes a 6’4 230 lb safety) but in my mind, the jumbo athlete projects as a linebacker/defensive end in the college ranks. During OU’s elite camp a couple of weeks ago he showcased his athleticism and versatility. You could tell he definitely caught the eye of Sooner’s staff and will be a guy to watch going forward.
Scoufos told me that he doesn’t have a positional preference. He just wants to play (gotta love the Okie mentality). He also said that if OU offered, they’d be his leader instantly. After seeing him live I walked away from the camp very impressed. For such a big athlete, he gets out of his breaks quickly. He diagnoses routes well and has the ability to close. With a kid that big you can worry about his ability to play in space but the same ability to play in space he shows on film was apparent in the camp. Consider me a fan. – (Brandon)
https://vine.co/v/eOw1KUA6Twp
– Pernell Jefferson: Briefly caught up with 2016 linebacker Pernell Jefferson, from Warren Easton HS in New Orleans. He said that he is still in constant contact with the Sooners, but he isn’t sure when another visit will be made back to Norman (Jefferson visited Norman a few months back).
He stated that he isn’t sure on the favorites, but that UCF and Texas Tech are among the schools that contact him most. He was the teammate of 2015 signee, and current Sooner, Arthur McGinnis. That alone should at least help the Sooners and keep them in the running until a decision is made by Jefferson. – (Brandon)
– UPDATE (3:04 pm): We already knew OU vs. Akron would be on pay-per-view, now we know it will kick at 6pm (CT).
6:00 p.m. on September 5th the season begins. Will you be ready?#75Days

Ugh, can football get here please?
Best post of the day unless there’s a BOOM today! Lol
Where is that remote control that Adam Sandler bought at Bed, Bath and Beyond Beyond Beyond in the movie Click. Someone get it and fast forward to September already.
That’ll get you in trouble!
Just watched Quint Scoufus tape. He is this years version of Dalton Wood, he can do it all.
I think he deserves an offer, would be one heck of an ILB with that size and speed. Runs very well and hits hard.
Plus he could always play FB if all else fails.
Another offer to another good OK athlete. I like that idea, esp. one 6’4 230# who can run.
Amazed at how quickly he gets out of his pedal in the vine clip Brandon posted.
I know this is a tad bit early but look at brady Williams highlights he is a 2018 running back for Lincoln Christian might end up playing DB.
Im still really upset about Dalton wood I really thought he was going to come in and contribute right away.
I’m a bit out of loop on Wood. Read he reported late, then left. Anything new to report?
Dear Draper family: please bring some of that Oklahoma rain with you when you visit California.
Saw this in the Oklahoman over the weekend and couldn’t help but think of TFB. You all have stressed about the importance of coaching and training not only in school but also the available to get additional help outside of high school as well to help prepare players to play in college and recruitment to advance their game.
I knew he had something going, but it looks like OU’s JD Runnels is creating a name for himself and opened his own gym, to help players find a place to help fine tune thier skills year round.
http://newsok.com/ou-football-guidance-from-former-sooner-helped-harrahs-logan-roberson-gain-recruiting-attention/article/5428916
They know about him. Runnels has been on twitter for a long while talking about his gym and helping kids.
Yeah I have heard Runnels on the radio and I know TFB know about him, but I guess I was just trying say this was the first time I’ve read something in the Oklahoman(states largest paper) about such a program. I wouldn’t have thought much of it had I not become a braniac.
I hope he mentors/trains more Oklahoma kids.
Bronson Irwin has started a gym/training center for OK prep linemen.
Love Jefferson’s film. He stood out last season when watching McGuinnes’s film. He’s got offers from TCU and Miami and all of the Louisiana schools except LSU, who he said would be his leader if offered. OU has a lot of LB options for 2016. Need to close on 2-3 of the guys at the top of the OU board.
Growing up a OU fan is a kiss of deatn
Death is really bad, but deatn is worse.
You are exactly right! I believe “deatn” is death-by-spelling.
DEATN!
I get the night terrors from that word.
Maybe you should cheer for oSu then, or maybe the team that wears a burnt shade of orange
Kish of death
I’ll allow this, barely.
You are more tolerant than I am about this. I vote for waterboarding anyone who says that.
Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that it is the kiss of only MOSTLY death. – Miracle Max
Your parents should have reconsidered that whole having kids thing
Who are you again jerky?
Says the one with gender identity disorder.
PePaw have you taken your meds today??
“Thou art a most notable coward, an infinite and endless liar, an hourly promise breaker, the owner of no one good quality.”
OMG you old fart! Were you there when Moses departed the sea?
“I think thou wast created for men to breath themselves upon thee.”
From my years in the classroom I’m guessing a little recidivism is likely there. 😉
Hitting her/him(?) with a little Bill Shake will have to do for the interwebs.
Departed the sea?!?!
Don’t worry about it
And what is it like growing up as a fan of whatever team you follow? Do tell.
Not a fan of the auto-playing ads via YouTube on here… can’t pause, stop or mute them so far as I can tell.
put your cursor on the lower right corner area till the mute button pops up. You might have to move your cursor around a bit to find it.
As I watch the Scoufos clip I am reminded how much of “football speed” is the ability to read and react. Other than the starting blocks track speed is pretty much about the physical ability to move fast. Football speed is as much about being in the right place at the right time so you don’t have to run as far to get where you need to be. A quick mind can make up for some difference in physical speed.
Bob, like I always say, if you are where you need to be when you need to be there, you’re fast enough.
Good point. Rocky Calmus got to where he needed to be faster than LBs that could out-run him.
Looks like a lot of Oklahoma kids have been over looked in the past. So many gems hidden across the state, just have to dig deep enough.
Would love to see Scoufus manning the middle of our D

Scoufus has that LB neck
Hard to believe they have this kid play safety. He must be a special athlete. I know Oklahoma kids are raw and do not get the specialized training that a lot of other kids get but we do have some wonderful athletes. Hopefully the camps that the TFB staff have been putting on will continue and help develop our local talent.
Can’t say Scoufus without thinking of SCOTUS. Just had to type it.
Looks like we may not be in as bad shape for Draper as many, including myself, once thought. I’m hoping Bob can make up some more ground today.
G-Day minus 75
All-American: Terry Crouch
Terry Crouch, G – 1980, 1981
During his junior year Terry Crouch was the only conference player to be named to The
Sporting News All-America first team. In 1981, he was named a consensus All-American to cap off a phenomenal career.
He was an extremely durable player who never missed a game due to injury in his three-year career. The two-time All-Big Eight selection was one of the team leaders, as he anchored the offensive line.
Boomer!!!
Sooner!!!
Love that helmet!
I do not mean to Kish bash. I am not a fan of his but I do believe he has gotten some good play from the current roster. With that said it seems as though he take recruiting off. Why is Jefferson getting contacted more from UCF and Taco Tech than OU? Kish could at least be on the phone daily with these kids.
I just seems to me a simple 30 minute call to at least 5 kids a day would be doable. Add in having some staff send these kids letters weekly and let them know you want them.
I’ve said it before, but I believe that Kish is more of a teaching coach than a full package coach. He always looks like he’s struggling with recruiting, but we always seem to have LBs that everyone wants. Maybe other teams don’t want them during the recruitment process, but when was the last time that we have two LBs out on the field that were flat out getting outplayed constantly?
As long as the results are there, I don’t care how he recruits.
Agree about a teaching coach. Not every staff, not even Bama, has a staff full of great recruiters. Is the OU staff currently filled in a way that allows us to be successful with Kish as our LB coach? No idea. But he shouldn’t be kicked to the curb just b/c he isn’t a great recruiter.
I also tend to think that it hurt him trying to recruit when one year we didn’t play LBs. Corey Nelson was a stud, and didn’t even get to play. I always wondered how much more difficult that has made it for him to recruit. And, we keep changing. We play 3 LBs, no 4, no 2. I’m not as hard on Kish as some. He had us in on (or someone did) and got some very good LBs (everyone knows DeBerry, but I think McGinnis looks like a stud too). This year it looks like we are in on some good ones again.
I would suggest that we can get a fair idea of how Kish works the phones by his results. He has gotten us some studs like Bolton, DeBerry, and The Hulk. Hell, DeBerry came all the way from VA. He knew who his coach was. Bolton too, from CA. And McGinnis from LA. Kids are going to leave home and come to strange land to play for an average recruiter and coach? I doubt it.
Secondly, Kish has coached the heck out of what’s on the field right now. He lost his #1 ILB for a year (Shannon) and still managed to produce a FR AA in Dom Alexander last year. Furthermore, one news service even ranked OU’s LB group as the 4th best in the country going into this season. No other B12 school was considered.
I’m not his defense counsel, but geez let’s give the guy his due. There was a reason Bob didn’t cut him loose and I think that had everything to do with the good, if not great job he does. In fact, I doubt that being “good” as a recruiter or coach would get a guy in the door at OU, let alone on staff, given our rep for producing great LBs.
The concern on defense isn’t Kish or his LBs, but Mike. Can he step up as DC?
I agree, I’m saying I’d rather have a guy who is more selective with his offers. Makes them mean something, and should really make the fan base respect the kids he sends offers too. I’d rather have Kish who is reserved in the recruiting trail than a guy who recruits a ton of kids that just get kicked off the team or never see play time (has happened a lot in the past 4 seasons), IF Kish’s kids produce. Which, IMO, they have.
Is it Mike and the scheme? I saw a lot of TE’s and wr running free in the LBS zone didn’t you?
I saw too many open receivers, so I would guess scheme. But I really don’t know. I would counter by saying that it looks more like Mike is the one on the hot seat, and not Kish.
Just watched the RRSO this morning…their WR’s and TE’s had a lot of success against our zones in the middle of the field.
Really frustrating. But it’s a new year. Perhaps the LBS can react quicker and get a deeper drop when they recognize pass and the safety’s can close the middle…I mean, we are not going to give up 40 to Baylor again.
I think you should revisit the part about UCF and tt. And remember who those schools are. If he’s hearing from bama lsu fsu Clemson or Texas more than us then there’s an issue but not tech who’s coach is probably on the hot seat if they don’t make a bowl and I’m not gonna say anything about UCF because like most people, I don’t know anything about them.
Agreed. I live and work minutes from UCF. They and TT need players, a lot of them. It doesn’t surprise me or bother me that they are calling him off the hook. UCF is a good place to play. May not win that many game unless they have an NFL QB, but whatevs.
Seems that Kish is not recruiting anywhere. Can we have some inside info on who the LBS are talking to beyond MS and BS? Perhaps this is a good thing?
You got it right. He has an office where he plays video games. Then he shows up for practice. Great gig.
The Tennessee joker that Jordan retweeted is pretty funny actually. https://twitter.com/_matty_ice12/status/613025862896619520
He’s correct. Edge goes to Mixon.
Read some of his tweets and his interactions are definitely all in good fun… Someone mentions Perine had almost 1,000 more yards than Hurd and he turns straight to how stout SEC defenses are. Cracks me up.
Perine wouldnt have got 500 yards vs an SEC schedule
another comedian lol
No that’s actually how SEC minded people think.
oh I thought that’s what you thought…wonder how many yards he would have gotten had he chosen Bama instead of us
Probably wouldve never seen the field at Bama, you know SEC defenses being so good and all…
I speak with hypebole a lot, but those guys actually believe that crap when they say it
I was in Knoxville a couple of weeks ago and I kid you not I had a guy tell me how Ohio St. would be a 4 loss team every year if they joined the SEC.
OU, UT(texsa), ND, USC, tOSU all would be 4 loss teams at best every year in the SEC
The funny thing is how mizzou and tamu are exactly who they were in the big 12
Absolutely agree
Thank you, Dennis.
Da bears
that right there is ridiculous.
That’s how they think though.
Kinda’ like Mizzou and Atm were in the Big 12….
Good fun, but also clear he actually believes what he’s saying. Which was only ever what I was poking fun at to begin with.
I mean it’s obvious the extent of his “research” regarding Hurd > Perine amounts to all of a single game.
But whatevs. He can certainly believe whatever he wants. It just struck me as humorous when I read it, RT’d to share if anyone else needed a laugh.
Oh he’s definitely delusional (probably applies to most SEC fans). I just meant he’s not out there throwing unwarranted insults and being a d-bag.
He also appears to have not heard of a guy named Mixon.
I like how he said his “research of Oklahoma’s offense” has him feeling better about the game. The new offense nobody’s seen yet that will have 3x more weapons on the field than our crappy offense did last year.
I seen that last night, made me chuckle.
Just think about it Jordan… in SEC country, they can only read a paragraph and then they have to rest! Kind of like when they face the Hurry-up!
I replied with Tennessee’s defensive statistics against the rush vs. Oklahoma’s and he shut up real quick
True freshman Perine turned out to be such an amazing person and player. So glad he is with us.
Wait until he gets a dose of Perine AND Mixon
“Aaand there’s your siiign….”
A 6’4″ 230lb LB that can run and he hasn’t even started his Senior year of high school.
As if that isn’t amazing enough, he is still a growing young man.
SMH!
If this turns into one of those Draper debacles……
Then you’ll immediately become a football coach and work up through the ranks in the high school and college systems and replace Kish, Stoops, Stoops…?
yes, but I will be so good I will be promoted to HC at OU within 1 year. Have you read my posts for God’s sake? I am a genius.
Stephen Dale will be my OC.
Jeff will be my DC. He will call plays using signs, one of which is the imaginary girlfriend in his profile pic.
Hello
And your profile pic will be number one choice for Mr. Dale’s play calling board!
WORD! Yeah on Fathers Day, Stephen Dale said your not really a Father unless you were at least 6’3″/243lbs and run with nickname of “BEAR”! Just sayin’…Good Choice!
I’m in. You’ll see a petition on Change.org momentarily to get this to happen. Boren won’t know what him.
Were there any times/measurables on Mr. Scoufos from the OU elite camp? His size AND his attitude look great.
Lived just south of Memphis, Tn. for a number of years in Hernando Ms. Even married a local girl that graduated from Ole Miss, so I’ve listened to my share of SEC smack talk over the years. This is one of the best…..Sec / Alabama fans would tell me after we won 2002/03 that we didn’t catch them at their best. After a big ” huh? ” and looking at them in amazement, I would reply….we could say the same thing. Took the Sugar bowl win to almost shut them up. You know that great college football is only played in the Sec……If you don’t believe me, just ask some of them. Boomer! OU☝…..or ESPN.
update added
So you can notify us of updates but you can’t gives a daily post. Thanks Jordan. Lmao jk.
Well, I don’t actually leave until tomorrow but didn’t see much sense in just doing a daily post today and then none for the rest of the week.
sorry 🙂
Lol it’s the first thing I read every morning so I had to give you a little bit of crap haha
It’s deserved.
I mean I could probably do it, but I’d rather just relax and enjoy my vacation if you know what I mean. Plus it’s so slow right now, it’s a bit of a grind just to get enough stuff together to even make an actual post.
Definitely appreciate you reading tho!
Jordan you go and relax, I have a feeling you are going to the same place that Lincoln posted a picture of last week or was it the week before. The timing is just to coincidental not to be.And yes when you are there all I would want is rest and relaxation.
Appreciate it, although I only wish I could be going the same place Riley appeared to be in.
My wife and I have always wanted to do wine country in Cali, so that’s where we’re headed tomorrow. Day drunkenness is most definitely in my future.
Enjoy my friend!!
My wife and I took in the wine country in Cali a couple of years ago when my daughter lived in San Francisco. It was a very fun day, enjoy!
Some pretty country out there. Enjoy.
Tell Belding we said hi.
Jordan, try this wine by David Phiney. Orin Swift: Locations.
Day drunk is the best!
I appreciate your posts! Enjoy your vacation buddy
update readed.
This PPV crap has got to stop.
It’s the only way OU gets tier 3 money (that it doesn’t have to share with the conference)..I have no prob with them doing one a year
Dude, no. If there’s one thing OU has, it’s money. I can deal with it if it’s against a 1-AA opponent. I don’t watch those anyway. But not against a D-1 team. Unacceptable.
I consider most teams we play on PPV as D2 even if they aren’t technically…we are talking about Akron here…they have money and that is one reason why
However you spin it, there is nothing OU or the Big XII can say that could justify putting OU vs. a D1 opponent on PPV. Not to me, anyway.
You might have to miss that game then…they’ve been doing it for a while now..I can handle one a year because there are numerous places I can go watch if not at home..plus I’m thinking of getting the sooner sports package anyways to watch on my computer (surely they’ve got the kinks out by now)
Yeah, I know.
One a year, make it to the Sports Bar. At least you get beer and wings for the price of PPV.
might get lucky too! ha
I know right. Now I will be forced to find somewhere to go and watch the game. When I could just stay at home and be as loud and obnoxious as I wanted. But I refuse to pay to watch OU Football in the state of OKLAHOMA. What is wrong with people
I’m seriously considering the sooner sports package that give 4 different angles of the game…that game will be included..you can watch that from the comfy of your man cave…get an apple tv box ($99) and throw it on the big screen
This Apple TV Box does it carry all the OU Games?
The apple tv box is like a relay box that moves media from your computer, laptop, or iPhone onto your tv…you would need to subscribe on sooner sports, com for the game package..I assume it’s would be every game…it has 4 different views of the game all going at the same time..a little different…oh and you want have to listen to espn or the other talking heads. I believe Toby will be heard during the game
I think the ppv game will still be extra, though
I’ll have to look
I can’t bring myself to make that purchase.
I’ll be listening on the radio after last year’s ppv fiasco. What I actually got to see wasn’t even in HD.
Really? That’s shameful.
Maybe others wouldn’t have the same problem I’ve had, but be careful w/ the Apple TV and using it to mirror your other devices to your tv. I’ve had some major buffering issues. Not sure if it’s the size of the tv, internet connection, something else, or all of the above. But something could be crystal clear on my iPad and when I try to mirror it to the tv I have all kinds of picture issues.
Just purchased an HDMI adapter for the iPad I’m hoping will resolve this issue, however.
Maybe these tips can help http://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/hardware/netflix-constantly-pausingbuffering-on-apple-tv/
Except for the “No Apple Products Allowed In This Home” rule, that sounds good. 🙂
Damn…I could never visit lol…I guess I could check my phone at the door lol
As long as you left it outside. 😀
You need a healthy bandwidth pipe. A 35×5 or greater is recommended, especially if you have a lot of devices on your wireless connection. I have a 50×5 HSD connection and I don’t have any problems.
For those that don’t want to pay to watch the game and and can wait a few days to watch it, huff99 posts every Sooners game on Youtube (usually in HD and commercial free) about two to three days after the fact. I discovered his Youtube page two years ago when I was deployed during football season. It’s one of the few things that helped me keep my sanity (and get my Sooners football fix) while I was away from home. You won’t be able to watch the game real time, but it’s free and certainly better than nothing. I’ve posted versions of this comment on here a few times to try and help people find a way to watch the game without having to pay a ridiculous amount of money for something that, in my opinion, SHOULD be free. However, there are too many people for me to reply to everyone without spamming this thread. Maybe you, K, or one of the others can post this comment in tomorrow’s OP to help spread the word? If not that’s ok. Just thought I’d share the info with you so people know they have options even if the majority of us won’t get to watch the game for free on game day.
If your internet speed/bandwidth is there, then it’s likely your wireless router holding your stream back. I have Apple products all over my house and am always streaming wirelessly to various televisions, two of which are 80″, and I’m sharing the slowest internet in the known universe with my kids.
Is the sooner sports telecast in HD?
Good question…I asked…waiting for reply…I’ll let you know if it’s a prompt reply
This is what I was told…..Yes, games broadcast on our service are typically in HD.
I am hoping they show the game in Ohio since there will be regional interest.
even if they do it will still be ppv
I know. Either show it or don’t.
Yep.
The wife says we have to PPV this game. I blame OU for her transformation to a football fanatic.
Dustin, aren’t you supposed to be keeping an eye on Whaley? Do I have to get Sooner Ray to keep you straight? LOL!
Heard Whaley doesn’t like the PPV either. Dustin?
He has no opinion on the PPV matter. He only cares about winning. Sounds like a future Sooner to me.
Ray don’t want none of this.
LMAO!
What sucks is my cable provider in Houston doesn’t carry the PPV that has OU as I found out the hard way last year. I’m with you.
Buy it through Soonersports and stream it via Internet.
don’t want to spend 100 for one game as I know i won’t watch it for the others.
$9.99 a month cancel after football season..not sure if ppv is included in that deal or would be extra…worth looking into
PPV is extra.
My provider offered it here in Dallas and it turned into a glitchy mess. I won’t even bother this year.
Huff99 posts every Sooners game on Youtube (in HD and commercial free) about two to three days after the fact. Its free and you can pause/rewind without needing to DVR. You won’t be able to watch the game real time, but it’s certainly better than nothing.
I know I will eventually see it and probably see highlights before the game is posted.
In the mean time, listening to the Sooners on the radio is what I did when I became a Sooner fan many moons ago.
When I served and was overseas for several years I couldn’t even do that and it was maddening.
Been meaning to write you back, sorry it took me a while.
When all else fails the radio is not a bad back up if you can’t watch the game (as long as the play by play guy is good at his job).
I am so thankful that I had internet service where I was at. I hate missing games and shudder to think about how frustrating it must have been for you when such luxuries didn’t exist. I only say that because I know how spoiled we are with the technology we have today.
I don’t get to post on here very much (mainly because the server where I work blocks my ability to comment), but wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your insight into OU sports and life in general. Your perspective often adds a good dose of reality when people want to make it seem like the sky is falling and a good jolt of humor when that dose of reality fails to make them stop.
Keep telling it like it is and I look forward to seeing what you have to say on tomorrow’s OP!!!
Toby is a pretty good radio announcer for OU. Have you seen the Akron Zips 2015 football season preview video? It is so bland and uninspiring it is enough alone not to pay for it. 🙂
I do appreciate your kind words. It will be wonderful in 38 days when we will have actual Oklahoma football to talk about.
Yes, I did start to watch that Akron Zips intro video and then stopped after about 30 seconds. Their announcer was about as enthusiastic as the science teacher from “The Wonder Years”!!!
I am excited for the season to start too!! It’s probably my favorite time of the year outside of the holidays.

You don’t need PPV to watch these kinda games
Crap is right. At $49.99 I’ll be at Oggi’s here in Apple Valley, eating the best pizza in the High Desert and drinking some awesome locally-brewed beer. They’ll broadcast the game on several screens.
If you can wait to watch the game, huff99 posts every Sooners game on Youtube (in HD and commercial free) about two to three days after the fact. can you imagine the epic meltdown that would occur if BV steals Draper from us.
Now that explains it. That’s really why Jordan is leaving on vacation he has inside info about this and doesn’t want to share. So he is actually going to stay the week with the Drapers to do everything in his power for this not to happen. GOOD JOB JORDAN!! Taking one for the team.
In two years he might finally get that HC gig…wasn’t that one of the reasons he didn’t want to stay on here so Mike didn’t overshadow him to hurt his HC opportunities…just a thought…there’s many a slip twixt the cup and the lip
If that happens then Bob needs to come out and apologize to the fans for not sticking with BV and instead bringing his brother back who so far has been meh. Meanwhile BV has brought Clemson into one of the top Ds in the country.
Ah, PPV…Guess I’ll be watching the game with a lot of people.
Funny. I hope you know some of them.
Unfortunately I do, and some of them like to talk…non-stop. Lol
Dude, I feel for you. There is an art to talking during a game. You have to know when there is an opening. Most people think fans only want to watch. Hell, no. I want to hear what’s being said also.
I invited my Mother-in-Law’s husband once. Notice the qualifiers, there. I did it out of kindness. The idiot wouldn’t shut up. He was talking about getting a great deal on tires he just got.
He has not been back since. That was 15 years ago.
Haha exactly. It’s definitely an art.
Art exists for its own sake, I would call it a skill or tact to know when to talk during a game.
Personally, I prefer watching the Sooners alone. The people that matter to me know better than to call or come by when the Sooners are playing.
This^^^
I definitely prefer to watch the game by myself, as well. Unfortunately, I don’t get to do that often.
To be fair, there aren’t many that know me who want to sit next to me at a game or be in the same room. I have a deep voice and project a large volume of air from my diaphragm. In other words, I startle people near me when I cut loose.
I’m quiet and analyse the game. I watch for ebbs/flows and rhythm of our offense and the aggressiveness of our defense. I used to go nuts but now I want to see the field, not just the ball.
I am that way too…when I replay the game. LOL.
I do get excited on a game winning play like OSU two years ago. I was in the back yard by myself and when Clay made the TD I screamed at the top of my lungs. Heck, my neighbors came out to see if I was OK. Can’t lose to the Pokes, I can’t take it.
I don’t really scream or yell. Hard to describe, but it makes people anywhere near me jump out of their seat even when they know it’s coming. My “YEEAH” can cause miscarriages.
*psst*
Dudette.
/just sayin’
Thanks, EasTex. You keep saving my bacon and somewhat protecting my anonymity. Although, SamSooner keeps popping up. What can I say, right? LOL. So, I will go quietly into the night.
No, we are buds. I got your back.
Thanks, my friend. I’m sitting on the porch, enjoying a cool breeze, listening to Miles Davis with my wife.
Sounds like a sweet time.
Shelby, I’m sorry about calling you “dude.” I thought I saw it on one of your post that Shelby was the city in which you live. I certainly did not mean to offend you. So, please accept my apology.
What? Why would I be offended? People use that term all the time for both genders. Lol
Thanks for understanding. I want to respect everyone and I wasn’t sure of how you prefer someone speak to you. I’m glad you’re okay with it.
It’s all good!
LOL!
I always look like a crazed lunatic when I watch OU games at a sports bar. I’m constantly pacing back and forth with my arms crossed, glaring at the t.v. and mumbling to myself…
Toats, it’s the people who sit and watch a game quietly who trouble me. I wouldn’t give you a strange glance at all.
Does anyone know if there is a Sooner Club in Boston. I want to watch the game but I don’t want to pay for it by myself.
I’m not sure. You would have an easier chance locating Sooner fans in Ohio and Pennsylvania in this part of the country.
Well, whadaya know: here’s a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/OUBoston
And this: http://www.oubostonsooners.com/boston-boosters
SamSooner thank you very much. I really do appreciate it. College football is dead in New England. So I need some Sooner relationships if i can find them.
Daryl, you are welcome. Always looking to help a fellow Sooner.

John Lee, one of my top 5. No one has that style, he’s one of a kind.
Nossir, never will there be anyone to compare with JLH.
Like Muddy, never heard a voice like that and doubt I ever will again.
Love John Lee Hooker.
re the ppv…….listen to the radio broadcast……if you’re also a cfb fan, there are 3 interesting tv games(hopefully) that overlap the ou game but are, unfortunately, on at the same time only being staggered by 30 min……..ariz st/tam, ut/nd, bama/wisky…….wish they could have spread these out during the day
Can’t help myself. Still gonna buy the PPV.
So since dad is on vacation, anyone know where the key to the liquor cabinet is?
Think like your dad would. It is probably on top of the liquor cabinet!!
Hmm, already checked. Wasn’t there.
Check in the left shoe that he uses to mow the lawn.
OOOOh, I know, I will look in the Pitch Perfect DVD case. After all the DVD is always in the player.
You just think its a pitch perfect DVD.
Ask your Dad.
Well Jordon is the dad around here, so he is not really my dad.
LOL!!!
Heh, its summer, there is no Sooner News, got to find something to bide the time.
Good morning Sooner Nation!! Hope everyone has a blessed day!!
Good Morning and same to you.
thank you! Likewise.
We are one day closer….Boomer!
Yes, Yes indeed Sooner!!!
I think we are going to surprise people this year. Last year we were overhyped going in to the season. Now we are garbage in the eyes of the media. This is a team with a lot of talent and if (and that is a big IF) a QB emerges that can efficiently run this offense, this team could be tough to beat. I will admit though, there are alot of question marks. O-line, DBs… I guess that why college football is so much fun, you never know what is going to happen.
Agree. I truly believe we will have a couple of QB’s who will emerge. In addition, our fans & folks on here need to realize that no QB completes 100% of their passes. I think the passing lanes will open up due to the new offense. Also, our WR’s will be able to create separation as compared to last year. We will incorporate a flex TE which I’m really excited to see. Good Stuff.
Say it aint so Diddy!!
Oh, it’s so.
Mornin EasTex, He probably just ruined his kids chances of playing. But with his money he can just buy him a spot on another team. Perhaps USC?
And a Good Morning to you.
I feel sorry for the kid. It was already tough enough living under his Dad’s shadow, but now he will have a tough time looking his coaches and team mates in the eye.
Absolutely. Its hard living in your Dads shadow sometimes. Now he has to live with this for the rest of his time there. Its already tough enough just to compete for a spot on the team. I wish his son the best of luck getting out of that shadow.
He will need to create perspective: that’s his Dad’s mistake, not his. Therefore, he shouldn’t own it.
No, he shouldn’t.
As for dad, he needs to park that helicopter.
Not the copter. Damn!
LOL!
I am willing to bet a billion quatloos the air space over UCLA will be a “no fly zone” for him in the near future.
Can I get some of that action?
Sure, if you can cover that amount. 🙂
Who y’all talkin’ bout?
P. Diddy…he jumped the shark and attacked the UCLA S&C coach.
It is important to maintain your composure irrespective of what happens.

It’s getting to where a cat can’t catch 40 winks on an ultralight’s wing without some schmuck taking him 50 stories into the air these days.
And the schmuck didn’t even have any treats.
Tuff being a kitteh.
I will be interested to see if more people like JD Runnels and Bronson Irwin start popping up in Oklahoma. I had a private QB coach in high school and, I have to say, he developed my QB skills far more than my actual coach. This could have implications on the quality of talent coming out of Oklahoma if this were to occur. In theory, kids would be better prepared with skills needed to get noticed by high level programs. Something to keep an eye on at least.
Private skills coaching will require parents to pay for that training. Unless there is some form of scholarship help, poorer athletes will not be able to partake. I too hope more such programs come along (especially run by outstanding former Sooners). If and when they do, perhaps we older Okies should consider setting up and donating for scholarships to those facilities.
Probably against NCAA rules
Interesting, if I sponsor a kid and pay his way, this isn’t against NCAA rules. I think this is something we could do. Need to check into this.
I don’t profess to know the arcane rules of the NCAA, but these would be younger kids generally before recruitment. In addition, it would be for Oklahoma kids, not any particular college. If this is a “problem,” the OU camps and every other school’s camps would be violations.
Yeah, I have no idea. It sounds like it would be a violation if you are considered a booster, but I’m sure there is some loophole there.
On Buchtel College (now Akron our first opponent).
In 1893, the college hired John Heisman to become the football and baseball coach. Heisman lead Buchtel to their first winning season with a 5-2 record in 1893, and then led them to their first undefeated season, albeit a single game season in which they defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes.[8] While at Buchtel, Heisman also helped invent the snap, which is still used in modern day football.[8] The early years for Buchtel saw many coaching changes, as the program went through 9 different coaches in the 22-year span.
Buchtel College changed its name to the University of Akron in 1913.[9]
Buchtel sounds like a tech or telephone company
Well there is one called Bechtel that is a tech company. Had a couple of friends who worked there.
