– Andraez and Rodarius Williams: Calvary Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana is stacked at the defensive back position. As many of you know by now, 2016 cornerback duo and brothers, Andraez Williams and Rodarius Williams — as well as safety Chanse Sylvie — hold Oklahoma offers.
This past weekend at the regional ESPN The Opening event in Dallas, Alex and I had a chance to watch the brothers in action and came away quite impressed. In fact, Andraez locked down anyone put in front of him and earned the MVP award for defensive backs and an invite to The Opening national event in Oregon later this summer.
As we’ve mentioned here previously, the Calvary trio are planning to be in Norman next month for the Red/White game. Which will be the first time for Andraez Williams to meet OU’s Kerry Cooks in person, although the two communicate regularly and have developed a strong relationship.
In addition to OU, Williams told TFB that “LSU and Ole Miss are on me hard.” But the work Cooks and the OU staff continue to put in looks to be paying off with Williams adding, “OU is the talk of the house right now, which means my family is loving them.” It probably won’t come as much of a surprise to hear that both brothers are hoping to play together at the next level.
Interestingly, Williams also shared that the spring game may not be their only return trip to Norman in the coming months. He said they would also like to get back for one of OU’s summer camps as well.
It’s always going to be a battle when you’re fighting SEC schools like LSU and Ole Miss, but Cooks has certainly put OU in a good spot for this trio of talented Louisiana defensive backs prospects. – (Brandon)
– Defensive Back Numbers: With Brandon’s note above regarding the Calvary trio, many of you are probably interested in knowing how many defensive backs Oklahoma is looking to take this year. We’ve spoken to a few people and have been told the staff is likely to take a maximum of two cornerbacks and one safety. In other words, it is our understanding that if the Calvary trio were to commit, the Sooners could potentially be done recruiting the defensive back position for 2016. – (Super K)
– Cameron Murray: I recently came across 2016 defensive tackle prospect Cameron Murray out of Bryant, Arkansas and was very impressed. After height and weight, the two things I look for in a defensive line prospect are quickness off the line and flexibility/fluidity. At the ESPN regional event in Dallas, Murray measured in at 6’2″ (without shoes) and 280 lbs which is pretty good size for a junior in high school.
Murray has a nice get off (though he’ll need to develop consistency) and does a good job using his hands to keep OL’s hands from getting inside, which then allows him to lock out and drive them back. But what I really love about Murray, though, and instantly jumps out on his film is just how fluid he is for a kid his size. He’s a young man I’d recruit based on that fluidity alone. When he runs there appears to be almost no stiffness in his ankles or knees.
Murray’s testing shuttle time at the Dallas event really backed up the fluidity you see on film. He posted an amazing 4.35 sec shuttle time! For a big man, that is flat out amazing. And in an ideal world, where small state kids garner the same respect as big state kids, the number coupled with Murray’s size should get a lot of attention from college coaches. Big men should not be able to move like that.
I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on this big fella! – (Super K)

Here we go!! Missed you!!
It’s just really, really slow right now.
So what chances do you think OU lands the Calvary trio? Sylvie seems close to a lock
How cool would that be? Even with LSU offers, they are talking up OU.
With OU there are no locks
apparently the football brainiacs need locks
Hello.
*snort**chuckle*
Cameron Murray…sheesh! I think I saw him throw an offensive lineman at the ball carrier! And he returns kicks! This kid needs an offer!
How many times have you EVER started film of a DT with him returning a KO for a TD? Had to play that back. Amazed that on an onside kick he is on the front line with the ‘good hands’ people. Hey, Diron!!! Put this kid on favs and speed dial.
I sure like the film on Murray, but it will be tough to beat out the Razorbacks for him.
Arkansas hasn’t offered yet
I understand, but he’s just a junior. If he’s good enough for OU to offer, he’s good enough for U of A to as well. Best I can tell, his best offer is Ark. St or La Tech. If he’s as good as he looks on film, he will have many offers to choose from including Arkansas. And at that time, I will stick to my statement that the Razorbacks will be tough to beat.
Stealing a recruit from Arkansas is not as difficult as you might think. It’s not the same as going up against a typical football school in their home state.
10-20 years ago, I would have agreed with you. Not now that they are having a semblance of success in the SEC.
I agree it’s difficult to get over the only state school thing here and being in the sec only adds to it. But I have a feeling if OU can get a kid signed it will open Arkansas up to more. No reason not to especially in the Ft Smith and Northwest Arkansas areas.
Might be giving them a tad too much credit. Didn’t they finish dead last in the west last year, which was the best year they’ve had in a few years? From what I’ve seen, unless a kid grows up a die-hard Razorback fan, he isn’t guaranteed headed to UA, unlike other schools in the SEC (e.g. Ole Miss, Miss St., etc.)
AR kids aren’t growing up wanting to play for UA in the same way you will find in states with successful programs. The allure just isn’t there, at least not at the same level. Nationally, Arkansas is at there very best best, a mid-level team. If a tier one program comes after an Arkie, there’s a good chance they get him.
And this success you speak of, it’s been 20+ years and counting and they still have yet to win the SEC. That’s not changing anytime soon. They just don’t have the players and no amount of coaching will overcome that for an entire season in big boy college football.
I just heard Bielma say that they’ve gotten every AK kid they wanted the past 2 seasons. I know OU and others wanting The big TE Hunter Henry but he signed with U of A. You sound like you are pretty knowledgable about ARK recruiting. Give me names of a half dozen or so kids that shunned Ark to play out-of-state over the past couple of years. And not E Ark/Memphis kids, please.
So Bielema said that so it must be true. I mean, what coach would lie about that? When he was trying to change the rules of the game to slow down other offenses, it was like he said, I’m doing this for the good of the children. I’m sure it had nothing to do with his slow, plodding lineman not being able to keep up and his depth chart being too shallow to rotate and stay competitive. Yeah, when someone says paradigm of principles or beacon of truth, I immediately think Bielema.
Anyway, It’s not always their poor performance in conference that limits Arkansas’ recruiting. There’s a distance barrier in some of their more fertile areas that makes it easier for other schools to gain footholds. UA is not centrally located, they’re in Fayetteville way up in the NW part of the state. You can get to KC a lot quicker than you can get to Texarkana. Little Rock is only 30 miles closer to Fayetteville than KC. That separation is a real problem and it’s getting worse. They’re down to only one game at War Memorial and they will soon be eliminating that. Not smart to alienate your recruiting base.
Now, I don’t follow them closely enough to name names of players off the top of my head whom may have turned them down, but I do live in this cess pool and try to half-way keep up with it when I’m in the mood. Let’s start off with the DL that was literally down the street from them last year, a four or five star guy that shunned Bielema for Alabama. There was another kid last year, a linebacker. who was also down the street from Fayetteville. He was like a two star kid and he turned down their offer to play for one of the worst teams in the ACC. Seriously, it was like Wake or BC. That’s two from last year, not six, but I’m sure if its important enough for you you can do a little research and get your other four.
Holy cowl, just saw Murray literally drive a guard all the way back to the QB. Sucks to be that guy
Need to really get on some of these Arkansas kids more, the HS here have gotten better and better so has the talent. If OU can steal a few it could start a pipeline here, with Arkansas being a border state.
OU did a lot better in Arkansas in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s than at any time before or since ( McKenzie – Fairbanks- Switzer regimes )…primarily because all those coaches had coached under Frank Broyles at Arky and had connections to that state talent….very little chance for any Arky talent because of instate pressure and SeC affiliation…when guys have a choice , few are going to opt for a 2nd tier conference…..
I could see that, but so much more exposure now for kids and while OU might not get the top player they could work their way in make relationships here again and maybe steal a few Oklahoma might not have had the success it use to but still a National brand use it with kids that are a few hours away.
Come on down Calvary triplets! OUr team would love to have a D-Backfield with the three of you tearing it up.
Any word on chris baccus from NEO? I had heard you guys were looking at him.
Just give me lipstick and cardboard, Bob. I know how to get the Cameron kid to commit:
“What is up, Cameron? You are the cat’s pajamas. I’ve been following your film for years now. You should be anything but a Sooner. Why? Because I’m banned from the OU campus. And it’s easier to hug you when I have post-game access than it is to scale the side of Headington Hall in heels.”
Your soul mate,
Kevin

Creativity, I like it.
A page out of Urban Meyer’s recruiting playbook.
Creative.
Scared, huh? Or did the meds kick in after the post? The image of scaling Headington Hall in heels was a bit disturbing. LoL
Lol! Bingo. My humor gets the best of me sometimes. I’ve lost all my hair, not because of age, but because of my wife’s firm hand of discipline. *Whap!* Right upside my head.
Even if the LA trio committed, you think OU would turn down a stud like Mayden?
Nebraska offered Baccus today I really think ou should give him a look.
Murray looks plenty stout.
B/R’s latest gem of an article, stoops nowhere to be found as a top 25 coach…
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2395189-ranking-the-top-25-college-football-coaches-heading-into-2015
I let the writer know in no uncertain terms that his knowledge of college ball rivals that of a piece of well…you get the idea.
How many of those other coaches punted twice to a track star and played corners 10 yards off receivers?
I mean, I agree, BR is garbage, but so is Stoops’ 2014.
Charlie strong managed a whopping 57 yards of offense vs arkansas and still made the list. so….ya….
Les miles hasnt done anything since 2011, still made the list.
Mark richt has never done anything, still made the list.
I could go on and on, but frankly its not necessary.
that site is the epitome of some of the folks that post on here. knowledge is scant
oh i know man, just get frustrated.
Guys like jones and mora get all this credit for, frankly im not even sure what, while stoops gets dogged for having 1 bad season.
i hear ya. i come to OU sites for some football talk and some good conversation and instead sometimes i get a buch of fickle yahoo know it all “realists” who hate bob because he can breathe the same air as them. he’s had his disappointments, but he’s not one of those guys like richt that do little with a lot of talent. i would rather have a bob bad year(winning the fiesta or occasionally a yr like last yr) much, much more than i would a richt good yr(winning the gator bowl)
Or guys like dan mullen, who coming into this last season, was 2-21 vs ranked opponents. He has 1 good season, and all of a sudden hes the best coach who ever lived(though they forget to mention they completely collapsed to end the season).
Id take bob over every coach on that list. Except maybe snyder, dudes a wizard.
or guys like hudspeth and fuente. good coaches, for sure, but until they prove it consistently against top competition, how do we know how good they are? because they beat middle tennessee st?
yeah, snyder’s awesome. you take a doormat to contender status, not once but twice. that’s commendable
i was really shocked to see fuente on there, but not stoops. Justin is a great up and comer, going to get a big time offer sometime soon.
But a better coach than bob? come on now.
yeah, they are both good coaches. i got nothing against them. it just kinda seems like it was on purpose to leave bob off. its all because of how he treats the media. i would much rather see bob knock one of em out than answer their “JV journalist” questions. he’s got a new hip now, so what would you rather see every monday? a press conference with a bunch of journalists who think they’re better than everyone or bob’s fight club? my vote is for BFC
That particular writer is about as anti-sooner as you can be. He wont give credit to bob, or any of the players, no matter what.
Well said. Especially Richt doing very little with a lot of talent. The same things goes for Lester Miles: talk about disappointing results.
yes lester and the gooks tigers are a match made for hell
disclaimer: gooks is not meant to be racist, it is simply how us southerners make fun of lsu and their geaux crap
Boomer, thanks for the clarification but it wasn’t necessary. You, EasTex, Exiled, Toats, BR are classy poster. None the less, much appreciated.
thank you. and right back atcha. need more kind folk around here
hahaha, I agree
Curious, how was his 2013?
We all make bad decisions. You have to go with your gut feeling, even if logic says otherwise.
It’s quite simple, you make the best decision possible with the information available and live with the results. Which means the ankle-biters have a 50% chance on any given play to celebrate.
Of course, nowhere in that decision to punt did it include punting the ball away from the coverage and to the fastest guy on the field, that was the unintended consequence.
Ankle biters. Ha! That and miscreants. You crack me up.
Try the veal and tip your waitress. 🙂
Since when is a single season a basis for being a top coach? If we went on your logic, Saban, Meyer etc would not make the list either.
haha. helfrich was what? 15th or so? he’s been a head coach for 10 mins, so yeah he deserves to be the 15th best coach like i need another hemorrhoid
IKR! helfrich is a good coach, but in what world has he done anything remotely close to what stoops has?
he took over a G6 with pilot and unlimited miles. its gonna take him a minute to screw it up, if he’s gonna do it, esp. with ol’ phil’s bottomless pockets
Bleacherreport=worthless.
Thought I flushed BR this morning……guess a double flush is in order.
I know this sounds strange, but I’m actually glad expectations this year are low. Stoops seems to perform exceptionally well when the team has a low preseason ranking …. like a chip on his shoulder.
Since 1985 (30 years) only 4 teams ranked #1 in the preseason actually finished the year #1. Boomer!
Big difference between low expectations, and saying stoops isnt a top 25 coach. I dont mind us not being a top 25 team(though we most certainly are), but saying a 7-6 coach like butch jones is better(whom stoops thrashed head to head), is just mind boggling.
I definitely agree with you on that one
They are reporting from under the bleachers, where the pervs and outcasts hang.
Hey, easy…those are my people you’re talking about!
What did he say about us?
LOL!
I see y’all down there and don’t think I don’t know what you are doing.
LOL! You’re right! We try to pretend, though…guess we need to try harder!
When you gather under the pep squad section and look up it isn’t difficult to know. ;-/
What I meant was, we don’t know what we’re doing…could you inform us?!?
My people are keeping a close eye on your people. 🙂
You need new friends, my friend. Uh, oh: that makes them my people, too. LOL!!
What’s up Toats?
Livin’ the dream. Just ain’t mine!
It is B/R, they hardly have anything positive to say about Oklahoma.
For those interested that haven’t signed up yet, started a bracket contest for bragging rights.. It’s hosted by Yahoo & is under The Football Brainiacs password is BoomSoon

I’ll post the link one more time tomorrow morning for the late bloomers..
What are the odds we have multiple 1000 yard rushers next season, we have the talent in the backfield and if the passing game can prevent them from loading the box like many teams last season, I don’t see why it can’t be done.
Interesting and doable. I’m interested in how much passing we will do with the RBs. I just remember that big 240 RB Baylor had 3 years ago who wore everyone out. Pass, pass, then he would rip off 15 yards and he’s no Perine. I’m not even going to guess who may/may not get the carries but it will be fun to watch unfold.
I could see that if they’re all purpose yards because I feel like the RB’s will be a big part of the pass game.
Not going to see a loaded box with a spread attack, but will likely see a lot more blitzes.
Having two rushers go over a 1000 isn’t inconceivable, but I’m looking more for an offense that totals 6000+ yards of offense in a 12 game schedule and scores often.
I could see Samaje have over a 1,000 rushing. Over 1,500 even. And Mixon have over 1,000 combined, rushing and receiving. I think swing passes to him coming out of the backfield are going to be lethal.
So basically DeMarco Murray??
From what I can tell from Murray’s video is he has quickness and power. It also seems he has “want to” but from such a small sample size can’t tell if he takes plays off.
Having so few offers and no major offers it raises the question for me about academics.
The hoop squad is on the move.

Time to get it done, Lon needs some post season wins in a big way.

Great gif. Thanx!
You are welcome.
Yes? Oh..TOTS…nevermind…carry on..
That is one of the best dishes my wife makes. It is soooooo good. I feel miserable after I eat it because I eat so much of it.
You might want to hang onto that gal.
Just remembering the days when there were updates to look for……off season sucks. That’s all.
Yessir, I hates the off season to pieces.
it minimizes the meltdowns though
Well…there is that. But just like tectonic plates, it just builds more pressure when there isn’t a release.
I was wondering if that rugby player from the daily updates was close to sooner ray’s speed.
I didn’t see a smoke trail so …..no. 🙂
Didn’t watch it and never saw SR run, so I can’t he’p.
Watching Youtube videos of past years helps a tad. Not the same thing but its fun to relive some of those years
Same here.
I found one last night I hadn’t seen before.(I like the Foo Fighters)
https://youtu.be/xwwvxrn95kM
havent seen that one either.
https://youtu.be/sqK9a_zox4c
is probably my favorite.
I’ve enjoyed that one many times, it’s a good’un.
This one is fun, the final three games of the 2008 season.
https://youtu.be/1aVLENrxSKk
i will never forget being in the stands and watching Roy Williams leap over that defender. Man, that was electric. Best moment I ever had at a game.
Ya i will never forget my 1st OU Texas game… absolutely amazing atmosphere
Lotta fun Thanx!
It does suck….
I flew to Seattle on Monday with a change of planes in Portland. I thought I sae a guy wearing an Oklahoma sweatshirt in the Portland airport, but I couldn’t make it out from the distance.
Last night, I took the 11:50 pm flight from Seattle to Dallas. I arrived at SeaTac about 3 hours early. If any of you have been to SeaTac before using Alaska Air, you know about the hassle of going from baggage check, security checkpoint, and the 2 trains you have to take to get to the N terminal. As I was walking around, I saw a guy who was clearly wearing an OU polo shirt, and carrying an OU bag. I thought how bizarre to see a fellow Sooner 2,000 miles from home. I talked to him briefly, and he said he was with the baseball team, and sure enough, the players weren’t far behind him. I assumed they flew back on Monday if not late Sunday since the Hawaii series ended Sunday. Appatently not…
I did NOT see coach Hughes with them. I guess he let them play on the islands an extra day.
The flight wouldn’t have been that bad if it weren’t for the baby that screamed–not cried–for nearly all 3:45 of the flight. Ugh!!!
I’m still considering writing a college course, the Glamour of Business Travel 301.
Private jets are underrated.
Amen to that! I actually looked around to see if any private jets had open slots to Seattle, but none were available when I needed them…And were considerably more expensive
Interestingly, I saw people wearing orange and black OSU gear. It was Oregon State of course, but Orange and Black are still an ugly combo.
I was once standing behind the Texas Women’s Basketball team at the Airport in Austin…I was wearing my OU hoodie so it was rather awkward.
I live in Turkey, thought I was the only OU fan when I walk out of my office and heres this guy head to toe in OU gear madea great friend that day….but really weird was I was in a village outdoor market when a guy walked past me in a really nice Coaches OU jersey, I said Boomer and he ducked he didnt speak a lick on english.
I mentioned chris baccus from neo earlier today and said that Nebraska had offered but since them Arizona state and Washington state have offered this kid went through a tough childhood and to see this happen for him is great I hope tfb talk to this kid they will love his attitude.
Homegrown and clearly talented. Why else would the Nebbish offer? Hopefully Kish is taking a serious look at this kid whose just up the highway.
Was at the Target Supercenter in Apple Valley, CA yesterday, wearing my Oklahoma T-shirt when I was approached by a good-looking black kid who asked if I was a Sooner. Given recent events I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next but I said “yes” and offered my hand which he accepted. He asked, “Do you know Wayman Tisdale?” And I got all goofy and replied, “Yes! Great BB player and jazz musician.” And he said, “He’s my uncle. I’m Kevin Tisdale” and we proceeded to regale about Wayman and other Sooner topics. The moral of the story: wear you’re Oklahoma gear. You never know who you’re going to meet..
For Alex and Brandon, the ETSN Combine is coming on Sunday 10 May.
