The Path to Norman
Jonathan Hatton Jr. was an elite running back prospect. The Texas high school product was a highly-ranked recruit who played in the Navy All-American Bowl and produced three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons at Steele High School. He first committed to Oklahoma in October 2023, but reopened his recruitment a year later. He switched his commitment to Texas A&M for a period, but the Sooners brought him back into the fold in late 2025.
Highlights
This Season
Hatton enters his freshman season in a crowded running back competition, but has gotten reps and plenty of praise after enrolling in January. Xavier Robinson and Tory Blaylock bring the most returning experience, with transfer Lloyd Avant likely to round out the three backs featured most prominently. Hatton was dinged up in practice this past week, but was back at practice and appears ready. His size and physicality will help earn Hatton a role in year one at OU.
