The Path to Norman

McCreary began his career at West Texas A&M after rushing for 1,558 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior at Johnson High School in San Antonio. He transferred to Incarnate Word before the 2024 season but did not play during his two years there. After accompanying his younger brother, 2027 OU commit Mikhail McCreary, on a visit to Norman, Ben took the opportunity to transfer to Oklahoma and enrolled in January 2026.

Career so Far

McCreary appeared in one game on special teams at West Texas A&M in 2022, recording one tackle while preserving his redshirt. He played in 10 games the following season and rushed for 130 yards.

After the 2023 season, McCreary transferred to Incarnate Word. He did not play in two season there.

Highlights

This Season

McCreary enters his only season at Oklahoma as an experienced depth addition under new running backs coach Deland McCullough. Xavier Robinson, Tory Blaylock, and Lloyd Avant are expected to lead the backfield, with several younger backs also competing for carries. McCreary will be in a reserve role for his time in Norman.
