Boom News! | ’27 S Jaylen Scott Commits to Oklahoma!
Posted on: March 7, 2026
The Oklahoma Sooners have added another key piece to the 2027 recruiting class as safety Jaylen Scott has announced his commitment to Oklahoma.
Scott, a standout from Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama, chose the Sooners over an impressive list of programs, including Georgia, Florida State, Auburn, Michigan, Tennessee, and Missouri. Pulling a defensive back out of SEC territory is never easy, which makes this a significant recruiting win for Brent Venables and his staff.
A major factor in Scott’s decision was the work of Oklahoma safeties coach Brandon Hall. Hall made Scott a priority early in the process and built a strong relationship with both Scott and his family. The consistent communication and clear vision for how Scott would fit into Oklahoma’s defense helped the Sooners stand out in a crowded recruitment.
On the field, Scott has developed into one of the more productive defensive backs in the 2027 class. Known for his instincts, range, and physical style of play, he has the ability to impact the game both in coverage and as a run defender. His versatility fits well with the aggressive defensive approach Venables wants from his secondary.
Landing Scott gives Oklahoma an important early piece in the 2027 class and continues the Sooners’ push to recruit at a high level nationally, even in the heart of SEC country.
