Sourced Recruiting Note | Visitors of Note

Couple things I want to pass along…
***First, on one time OU defensive line commit Zan Rowe, pretty simple…the closer we get to his next commitment date, the less confidence I am hearing out of Norman and sources in the region in regard to him choosing OU. Rowe is scheduled to visit Washington and Oregon prior to announcing his next commitment on the 13th. Again, right now, I like OU, but once those visits happen, things can change, really fast.
***As for the Sooners, they will be hosting a number of priority prospects this week. OU will also have a bunch of commits in town, and we will post the larger list later in the week, but I figure it would be good to give you a heads up on some of the priority uncommited guys who will be in town from the 2027 class.
TE Seneca Driver – Jason Witten will seek to bolster OU’s position.
TE Ben Kolar – Sooners looking to right previous wrongs here. In good shape.
DB JuJu Johnson – One time OU lock coming back for the first time post-Valai
DE Sedrick Marsh – Newer offer that OU sees as a priority.
S Jaylen Scott – Like OU here, could lock it up.
DB Bode Sparrow – Sooners in the mix, chance to make big impression.
OL Tyson Ross – Very well could be OL number 4 or 5 in the class when it signs.
BV is Attracting Talent | Sourced
– Super K – Posted on: March 3, 2026
It goes without saying that BV and co have been attracting talented players since they arrived in Norman.
But this note that I picked up from a source recently is about BV’s ability to attract coaching talent.
The reason the Lamar Morgan hire seemed to come out of no where isn’t because he did. It was because Morgan was someone that BV targeted earlier on but apparently, per a source, so did a lot of people.
We knew he had an offer from Baylor but I’ve been told that Morgan was being targeted by a number of folks in college and the NFL.
So it appears the names that were floating around were back up options in case Morgan didn’t end up in Norman.
But the fact that he did, despite the bevy of offers was noteworthy to me. Why? Because this time last year, it seemed like BV was fighting for his life and folks around the country knew it.
Maybe a hire doesn’t actually tell you where a program is going but it certainly points to a massive shift in perception by the folks who have the most to lose (coaches) and that strikes me as a very good thing.
Recruiting Notes | Incoming, and More Visitors of Note

***Yesterday, I dropped a list of notable priorities who are scheduled to be in Norman this weekend. Somehow, even though we have been talking about it for a while, I left QB Jamison Roberts off the list. Well, he is scheduled to be in town, so there is that. OU can put some more distance between themselves and the other teams in pursuit. A good visit will go a long way to gettiing him to officially come on board.
***In state WR target Greydon Howell is also supposed to make it to town. This will be his first time on campus since he picked up his offer, and things are still trending toward OU.
***Lastly, about all that twitter excitement from the staff last night? You could see something from ’27 linebacker Cooper Witten in the near future. I know his commitment (whenever it actually is announced) will not come as a surprise to this community, as we have said it would happen since the moment Jason Witten took the tight end coaching position. But hey, the Sooner the better to bring out Big ‘Mo for the class. (Obviously, Witten announced following this note).
Sourced Team Notes | Defensive Front
– Charlie S – Posted on: March 4, 2026
***Winter conditioning is well underway in Norman, and the defensive line room is quietly generating buzz…as one would expect. Nothing official, but a few names keep coming up.
***On former UTSA DL Kenny Ozowalu, Source says Ozowalu looks like he’s attacked the offseason and embraced the OU way. He’s moving well in short areas and flashing a quick first step in drills. The staff has focused on refining his hands, and it’s reportedly showing up. The sense is he’s pushing for more than just a depth role heading into spring and with his size, he provides versatility inside and on the EDGE in some situations.
***Was told Taylor Wein continues to be the steady presence. His functional strength gains are noticeable, especially in lower-body power. He’s anchoring better and maintaining leverage more consistently. Just as important, he’s setting the tone in workouts and finishing strong. Picking up some departed leadership duties from guys who are no longer in Norman.
**Sounds like Wyatt Gilmore is stacking solid days. I’ve been told his get off and footwork in pass rush drills have improved, and the consistency is what’s drawing attention. He’s working himself into legitimate rotation consideration. He seems to be a hot name early on for Team 132, not unlike Owen Heinecke last offseason.
***Source says Danny Okoye’s conditioning has taken a step forward, allowing his natural burst to show up deeper into sessions. The tools are there. If the technique continues to tighten up this spring, he could factor into more than situational pass rush packages. He’s coming for RMTs role as the pressure guy that makes the OU defense go. We will see how this goes, but folks are very high on him.
***Spring will bring clearer answers, but early signs suggest this group is trending the right direction.
The 2026 Schedule | How Tough?
– Super K – Posted on: March 5, 2026
As I said in a post, last week, the three questions I’m asking myself are:
Is the current OU staff better than last year’s staff? I offered my opinion on that here.
Is the current team roster better? I’ll offer some thoughts on that later.
Right now, I want to focus on the third question. Is this year’s schedule harder or easier?
I’ve spent the past few weeks asking friends who are in personnel departments or coaches around the country for their Birds Eye view and sometimes more focused view of the OU schedule.
In short, the sense I’m getting is the schedule is freaking difficult. And yes, it at least appears, more difficult than last year’s schedule. As we continue to learn more about the teams, we can go through these in more detail this offseason. But here are a few notes…
***As I said, everyone I asked basically said, yes dude, that schedule is rough.
***Michigan got an upgrade at head coach and their talented freshman QB won’t be a freshman anymore.
***Georgia is Georgia and they’re expected to be better this upcoming season.
***Sark has had BV’s number. They return their QB and they added some nice pieces including Coleman.
***Right now, Ole Miss still seems to have their QB phenom. He poses the biggest threat to BV in that he can avoid the pressure which as you know opens up a lot of passing space for him especially against a defense that relies so heavily on pressure.
***Missouri upgraded at QB.
***My sources at Florida said they have a QB battle but they apparently love their skill guys – very dangerous in that area.
***TAMU returns their QB and they’re likely always going to have a good defense under their current head coach.
***Haven’t heard much about South Carolina.
***I have been told by a few people that Kentucky is a sleeper and they had some nice pieces to their roster.
***Mississippi State hasn’t won a lot of games but they gave some folks fits last year and they’re likely to be better.
So, again, I’m currently operating under the belief that the schedule will be tougher this season but I’ll update that if necessary as we learn more.
Cali Recruiting | Sourced
– Super K – Posted on: March 5, 2026
You’ve probably noticed the Sooners have some success right now in recruiting California.
The reason for that is in part the hire of west coast native, Stacey Ford. I’ve been told by folks tied in out there that he’s had a big impact on OU’s recent footprint in the region.
But I’m also told that the Sooners have decided to allocate a lot more resources to recruiting and landing California prospects.
Junior Day – Future Freaks | March 7th | Working Visitor List
– Charlie S – Posted on: March 5, 2026
March is here and with that come visitors and practices. First, the visitors.
OU will be hosting their ‘Future Freaks’ event on Saturday, March 7th and there should be a good turnout from recruits.
Below you will find our working list of recruits in the 2027 cycle who are set to be in town. Earlier in the week I posted a list of notable visitors; they are included on this list, and so are the OU commits who are scheduled to be in attendance.
Reminder: Just because you do not see a name on the list, it does not mean that the recruit will not be making their way to Norman; we just have not confirmed to our satisfaction that they plan on making it. Also, some of the names on the list inevitably do not make it in for one reason or another. This is a working list; there will be changes.
