Going into this weekend OU was the definitive leader for DaiShon Neal and Van Jefferson. So what happened?
DaiShon Neal: I was told that Neal was all OU before his trip to Nebraska this weekend and what sold him on staying with Nebraska was simply the lack of defensive end depth. OU is bringing in a lot of good defensive line talent and there are some young guys already on campus that are turning into outstanding defensive ends. Nebraska was able to sell Neal on the fact that he would have a lot fewer guys to compete with at Nebraska.
The reality is, as much as this stings, OU came in late and almost pulled it off despite coming off a season that by OU standards isn’t great. And OU still has a class of excellent defensive linemen.
Van Jefferson: Van Jefferson was also all OU up until the Ole Miss visit. I have no idea how this thing turned this quickly. Jefferson told me just this afternoon that he was still an Oklahoma lean! I didn’t share it at the time because he hadn’t made his announcement but when someone says right after his Ole Miss trip, it makes you think OU is still going to be the choice.
Again, this would have been a nice late pickup but this certainly wasn’t a player OU expected to get even one month ago.
Best wishes to both Neal and Jefferson.

Do you think we make any other WR or DE offers?
Not all doom and gloom if guys won’t come here because they think they can compete for a spot better elsewhere
I hope Overton is able to make it on campus.
I’ll bet we’ll still end up with a top ten class when it’s all said and done
What have you been smoking tonight.
We are currently ranked 12th with only about 19-20 commitments. The rest of the classes above us have about 24-27 commitments. Bring in a couple quality guys and we will break the top 10
You need to go look at the rankings, we’re not far out of the top ten with just the guys we already have committed.
Thanks for the back up
We don’t even know if Overton is going to make it academically if he doesn’t our class will collapse he is a top 100 national product if you lose these him that we lose three or four spots.
Rivals has already removed him. OU was at 3.61 and dropped 3 points. That’s all.
haha. hahahahaha. the class will collapse. hahahaha. sure it’ll collapse to the point that we shouldn’t even have a program anymore. this gets sillier with some of you guys. you, castor, stephen dale, and bloodred deserve each other
Burn it down…down to the ground!
If we lose 4 or 5 games next year I don’t want you to come running your mouth next year.
well. i can guaran-damn-tee you we ain’t losing 45 games. we can get you a good deal on a whaabulance tho
If you look i edit that part again that was an error on my part I said 4 or 5 losses as to what I was doing before I started listening to you running your mouth I was reading my Bible and it was actually in peace come quickly Lord Jesus so we can be liberated from people like this.
dudley. i’m just sporting with you. that’s all. if i’ve taken it too far, i apologize. you play along really well tho
next year is more likely a 6-6 or 5-7 year what with so many road games….
I think he meant the rivals class ranking overall. I thought Rivals already took him off…we ware 15 or 16 before and dropped to 19 or so
Yeah I know he meant the ranking will collapse. It just seemed like a huge overreaction. Some of these pessimists who keep calling themselves true fans, I have no idea if they even like OU. A lot of the time it sure doesn’t seem like it. Not everything is perfect or even close to it right now but not everything out of their mouths has to be negative
Absolutely nothing.
Bring in a couple quality guys and we will shoot up the rankings. The classes between where OU is and top 10 are about equally ranked but they beat us by a couple points.
Go to Rivals. The key stat in my mind is average star ranking. OU is 9th at this point.
Good point. Quality at the positions is really good.
Mizono……………………..LOL
Did you run out of dots?
The meltdown will come if there is no McGinnis or Smith…
Just wait on it – we won’t get either unfortunately.
Tim…………….think you are correct..
You’re probably correct…
Im pretty sure smith eliminated ou last week. Maybe a couple guys with connections could look into that????
Nice work K…rest easy tonight knowing your doing a heck of a job
Thanks JD! Sorry for the whiff on Jefferson. Really thought the Sooners had him.
K you never know what his mind thinks in the morning.
This is the start of what might be a tough 2015
Sky is falling? C’mon man. Three star 6’7 dude is no big deal. VJ would have been nice but he’s a 4.5, LR needs speed.
Look I had been positive all day long but after tonight I have I’m beginning to doubt the direction this program is going in just have a bad feeling about 2015.
Neal wouldn’t even have played in 2015. And VJ wouldn’t have started, and might not have played. Come on.
Just my opinion, but I think Jefferson will play early and often at Ole Miss (and would’ve done the same at OU)
your treadwel comparison is valid. I too think this kid was special. I envisioned him to be a lot like Brown was- sure hands and able to find open space.
I think he was a good fit for what we expect our offense to look like and his good technique would have gotten him some playing time.
relax…sun will rise in the east and OU will not cancel next season
Hard to sweat kids we only recently offered and even thought VJ is extremely good, we have a great class of WRs. My concern is the absolutely dismal linebacker class, sans Deberry
Can we call Great Britain again? (Wort)…..ha.
As OU fans were competitive all the way so when something like this happens it sucks. But winning cures everything. With the way the season went and ended, I consider this class a good one.
We have a strong class. Neal is a good prospect but Jefferson is a stud. He will contribute immediately in Oxford and reminds me of losing out on Treadwell a couple years ago.
It’s a tough break, but if McGinnis & Smith go elsewhere that’s much worse. And things aren’t looking good for OU re: those two
yep—-O fer four on that list.
we haven’t landed truly elite talent in the WR since Still (Shepard doesn’t count). Somehow we are always on the fringe , outside looking in. Amari Cooper, DGB, Treadwell, Canon… We have gotten *good* receivers but not the game changers above
Yet to be seen. We have what were considered high caliber recruits who have been on campus for a year. Hopefully they pan out. All of them need a QB that can hit them. May be part of what played in to his decision as well. Easy for the opposition to negatively recruit based on our QB success over the past two years. Or lack there of.
Yea, it’s not hard to neg recruit us right now in the WR side… It doesn’t matter if you have a roster full of 5 stars when passes do not even come close. That being said, I was not railing on the current WR corp. They are all high ceiling kids and I think they will do much better this year under Linc’s system.
K, we appreciate everything you do! I am VERY thankful for this site!
Thanks bro! Sorry about Jefferson y’all.
Nothing to be sorry about, SK.
I for one believe that Oxford is much closer to his home in Tennessee and was factored into his decision.
Agree. Couldn’t hurt that the GM for the Titans is an ole miss alum haha
From your write up, sounded like things turned quickly from OU to Ole Miss for him. Do you think either Ole Miss or his family negatively recruited against OU? (Or maybe both)
We appreciate the GREAT info – can’t always be good news, but you do provide news. So, thanks!
Why? What did you say to him!? LOL It’s not your fault and only idiots shoot the messenger!
it was always going to be unlikely the guy would leave the SEC for the Little 12-2 unless Texas was involved…I think OU was always a ‘fall back’ choice and think he would have returned to Georgia before coming into this conference…..elite talent wants to compete with the best and against the best–something he wasn;t going to find in this conference…..
Got to say it. You don’t know the game. Whose the best DL in the NFL? SUH Big 12…Best RB Murray Big 12…Best QB Brady Not the SEC…need more? Who won the National title not the SEC. Who is 2-0 in their last two games against the SEC? Boom.
who lost 5 games last fall and faces the stark prospect of having a losing record in 2015 ?
I was addressing your point about the the SEC. Stop believing the hype son.
OU won’t have a losing record in 2015. They’ll win more than 6 games for sure.
Losing record?
You’re insane
He told a lot of people he was going to OU prior to the ole miss trip.
One simply cannot believe a word these kids say. They buckle under the least bit of pressure and/or say whatever they think the writers want to hear..I frankly doubt either Jefferson or Neal was THAT serious about playing in the Little 12-2 when both had options in better conferences much CLOSER to their homes….location, demographics, conference perception——3 things that offset OU’s facilities, academics, history….
Cut them some slack man. Some choose a school because its close to home some choose a school because its far away. I know several a young man that waffled on enlisting in the Marine Corps; many of my students have a tough time choosing a university to attend. I might say what I think people want to hear if it gets them off my phone or out of my face.
He did and other sites had him going to OU too. Just the breaks. I would like to think there are several schools and fans disappointed when we landed DeBerry and PJ and Anderson. Tell the current recruits who are committed to OU that we are very excited they are coming to OU and look forward to seeing them play. This is a good class if it all holds together.
Wait what???..so you can see him leaving the SEC for Big12 if Texas was involved but not OU? That doesn’t make sense for several reasons. You been sipping the SEC kool-aid too long.
He drinks heavily but his drink of choice is Hatorade. He starts his morning with a spot of negative nelly tea.
About as good as Ole Missy played against TCU, that is pretty rich. Ole Missy is a fraud.
Hay guys I’m getting blasted on his website right now but tell me who’s left after the recruiting that we can get the can get us in the top 10.
I know your concerned. But Stoops average is 3.5 we are above that now. Two years ago 3.2. last year 3.1 now 3.58. Chin up soldier. Per Rivals.
You’re not getting blasted james, when you ask someone what they’ve been smoking you have to expect some response. Just keep hoping for the best here in Soonerland.
Ready to move on. Good luck to both kids. We joined the party late on both, and really, we probably lost out to one because of a crowded position (DL), and the other to the magical kingdom called Ole Miss where top recruits oddly commits. Hopefully we now can perhaps start wooing some of these enormous commitment classes to poach someone with a legitimate scholarship over a last minute grayshirting.
Look Sooner fans we may not even get our full complement of scholarship players at 85 because unless we find more players and we don’t know about we may not end up with 85 scholarship players.
Last time I checked NSD is Feb 4th, did they change it to January 25th?
Mizuno44 NO. But can you see? The sky is falling….
We are going in the wrong direction compared to last year last year we had momentum going into national signing day this year we’re going the opposite way.
Nope. Check the rankings. Last year 3.1 average we are up from last year.
We have better quality this year but unfortunately we still need to fill all our ships
Yes. But James’ comment is based on feelings. I feel like this is a better class.
I wouldn’t mind carrying over 2-3 even 4 scholarships to next year so early enrollies next year can count toward those scholarships. Might be able to sign as many as 28 or 29 next year that way. It actually might help having developed our offensive and defensive identaties to be able to sign more guys that fit our system!
Exactly.
Very true
Got to grind on the trail after five losses and we’re doing that, dynamic is different this year. I get where you’re coming from, I just think our class has been pretty successful when you look at this season’s performance
As I said above I think the momentum from the Bowl game last year wasn’t a good thing for the long term. This year is a result of that momentum. Going to have to make major changes to get back were we want to get and sometimes it is harder to recruit in the midst of those necessary changes!
Yes but who are the players that we haven’t yet to hear about who they might sign?
If we haven’t heard about them, how can we tell you who?
One whole week to swoop in and pick up some Mountain West pledged players. Heck who needs those left over schollies – we can just save’em up like timeouts from one game to the next…oh, wait….
Technically it’s ten days to NSD, but who’s counting
We got Frison late from that part of the country. We swung and struck out tonight but doesn’t mean we won’t find some new potential Sooners this late in the game.
there are still a number of projects in this state available that might be brought in to fill the roster.
Players can sign after NSD, so having a few schollys available won’t hurt. Just sayin
holy uncle. some of you people need something else to do
I’m drinking a smoothie.
I was watching Miss Universe. I don’t have any idea why Miss Colombia talked in circles about her countries greatest contribution to the world and wouldn’t give an answer what it was instaed saying “just proud of them”, LOL, but she won anyway!
Considering her country actually has easy to name contributions (was teasing the wife that she would say cocaine) with coffee being a slam dunk gimme, it made her answer even weaker. But like you said, she somehow won. TBH none of them answered any question well, and a lot of the questions sucked.
I think that may be one of those shows that’s better with the sound off…:-)
……she was scared to say drug cartels
I don’t see any way OU has 85 on schollie when next season gets here…more likely around 80…
I know Bob wants to get it right but I gotta think not having the complete staff in place is not helping recruiting.
It’s not ideal.
Would you commit not knowing your position coach?
Good point
nope
Just a bad week for recruiting. Reid, Neal, Jefferson are all out but that’s nothing because of the depth in the class and the depth on the current roster. Now, one LB commit, that should be the real issue.
Very true James
I would be ok with a surprise like mike Hughes on NSD
Zack, we all know the biggest surprise will be Dahu Green on NSD.
Well I think the biggest surprises have all been rubbed the wrong way all year.
Where is the surprise that Cale Gundy promise right before National Signing Day.
peel back the covers. maybe he took a deuce in your bed while you were at work. i’d laugh
I guess this is also the end of the Shawn Jefferson as WR coach rumor!
Look, I’ll be happy as long as there are no Metroyer, Kamell Jackson, Williams, McCay’s etc…
Or Calhoun
How’s that Russell guy doing?
Or jarboe
Long list.
I agree with the premise of your thread but Williams doesn’t belong in the list with Metoyer. Hard to fault a dude thats trying to be there for his kid. Also, we reloaded RB pretty quickly, while WR regressed
Dang, couple of kids choose another school and all of a sudden it’s a pity party with an abundance of bed-wetters.
Signing day is still ten days away…I can wait.
Thank God for those Depends. 🙂
Yeah, and hope some here shop at Costco.
they will need a case of midal and maxi pads
The Sooner always put together a decent class and develops them. not to worried.
I loved the QB and WR development last year. Sorry, had to take the shot before next season when we actually develop players.
there are 5-6 spots now available for developmental Oklahoma HS guys unless the staff holds the scholarships for 2016.
NO! That is terrible roster management. OU, or any other school really, can’t afford to waste 5-6 spots in a single class on developmental kids. 1-2? Sure.
I still think the OU staff knows something we don’t. Guessing we still get 3-5 solid commitments before NSD.

This makes this day even better…
Welp, he’s probably gone too…nothing right now gives me any warm and fuzzies with OUs recruiting…
I will bet you he will be posting the same type pictures next month from OU’s junior day. Long way till next Feb
Probably right.
He also just said “had a good time at A&M junior day but I’m still a Sooner no matter what!!
Also for everyone that said last years win against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl was meaningless (ala Alabama wasn’t trying, Sooners got fortunate or whatever excuss was given), I would suggest we might have been able to close a few of these recruits coming off a quality win like that in a bowl game this year. But I am not sure that would have been a good thing. That Sugar Bowl game gave people and recruits the PERCEPTION that things were turning around at OU. What BS is trying to do now with coaching changes and scheme changes is ACTUALLY turn things around at OU. That bowl game gave us a boost in recruiting but it slowed the OU overhaul down a year or two. Hopefully we continue on the path of change and find the results we are all hoping & dying for at OU and return to our winning ways! I will keep the faith! BOOMER!
Kidding beside this program has real issues right now on recruiting in my biggest concern right now as we may not end up with 85 scholarship players.
Folks we will be okay…Diehards like myself may have to adjust to different seasons around here though…Just can’t envision a Nat’l title any time soon…Best case Big 12 & fiesta!
silence your tongue that we may not be able to win a national championship anytime soon that will be depressing.
James you know better than anyone these things are earned thru maniacal play, maniacal recruiting with the help of maniacal fans…We don’t have those 3 working for us at this time….It takes special leadership on all fronts to get this done!
Yes i know but the thought of not being able to win a championship so anytime soon will be depressing I might as well just go back and read again keep reading my Bible at least there’s hope with the Bible.
I am not a man of faith at this time(not the place to talk about this) I’ll just say you may need faith to get thru what we are about to go thru….If it helps you then I say keep the faith.
The Word of God is what keeps me going in this what helps me get through everyday life.
I hear ya brother..
OU will have trouble posting a winning record next season given the talent on the squad plus the tough road schedule plus the defensive woes we witnessed last fall.
Come on man, there is no way ou has a losing record next year. You’re crazy! With the right qb and the defense improved this team can contend nationally. Quit being so negative.
What are you basing the improved defense on?
Get lost you Oklahoma State fan.
The most talented team in the conference overall
Surely this is a strong contender for “dumbest comment of the day” award. Closest thing to a slam dunk I’ve seen in a long time.
I agree winning the Big 12 isn’t crazy! If Baylor whiffs on a QB recruit which is totally possible then it could be wide open in the Big 12 as soon as next year. Winning the Big 12 will probably put us in the playoffs(have to think if it was OU or Texas and their tradition instead of Baylor and TCU we would have got a team in) whichs gives us a chance. Going into the playoffs this year tOSU was probably the least lickely to win the Natti but it was their year. Just got to hope these changes work for the OU offense and the can duct tape and bailing wire a defense together!
I would not go that far Doobie…I think we lose atleast 2 games before the Baylor game and there is no way we are making the playoffs with 2 losses. And no team ever should! Not deserving.
I would take just two losses but I’m afraid we’re going to lose 4 or 5 in the fallout from this could be huge for recruiting and for this program next year.
Totally agree about 2 lose teams and you could well be right about the record. At Tennessee, West Virginia, Texas, and at Kansas State all before the Baylor game are no better than a 50/50 pick em at this point but I will be optimistic and say Baylor is our 2nd lose! Just feeling friscky tonight LOL!
Your not off base…Proof positive..
The Big 12 isn’t even tied into the Fiesta any more. It’s the Sugar most years. But you’re an OU fan, right?
Idiots will be idiots no matter where in the rock in tulsa they come up from under from…..
I’m an idiot, yet you are the one that doesn’t know our conference bowl tie-ins?
Okay.
For the last time I’m not here to debate bowl tie-ins…You corrected my error, fine. Congrats! I’m more interested in getting this program back on track than worrying about where will be going If we ever do. Big emphasis on if we “ever do”…………!
Recruiting does not end on NSD. OU can always pick up Juco guys or even some transfers like they did with Brown and Saunders a few years ago. Worrying about it won’t help. Be patient would be my suggestion.
The above post was supposed to be reply to James B’s post. Darn phone.
It looks OK standing alone. 🙂
Bester as well…think we got him in May
We really need to start paying our recruits more.
Think we have to Join the SEC to be allowed to do that
So with us moving past this, do we still have any potential commits that people aren’t expecting come signing day?
This is the problem and the answer is no we don’t.
HaHa if we aren’t expecting them how do you know who they are and that we won’t get them.
You haven’t a clue
Hughes would be one to watch for
Hughes definitely. He’s been waiting on an offer. Crazy not to bring him in.
Nice, reasoned analysis, Super K.
The numbers game could actually help Overton. Hope he’s still working hard.
Even if Overton makes it to OU, he is not a pass rushing DL.. Not sure how much he would help .
I’m not sure I can say anything that makes you happy but I’ve watched him play in person and he’s a big body that can eat up blockers so that the pass rushers are free. If we don’t get him we still need someone like him for that position.
Good night sooner fans I have to go to work tomorrow from not so warm miami well tonight we’re in the fifties.
Neal: Truthfully I would have been surprised if he made it. Also felt he would have been more of a ‘depth’ type of recruit for OU. Depth is nice & need it, but not the end of world for OU. I read into it that he was more appeasing mom, than heart. That’s ok. He doesn’t owe the fanatics squat & only want those that hearts are all in.
Jefferson: I would have welcomed him as well. I hoped to land him a bit more, but not losing sleep either. I just think considering who we’ve brought in at position, that more ‘similar’ depth isn’t something we really need unless they LOVE OU. All in or choose someone else. We need all the heart possible.
One thing is for certain, visits to Ole Miss create some serious buzz for a few years now. Not sure what happens there, what makes it so great? Maybe it really is that incredible of a place. I can say most of what I’ve seen of their fans are passionate but affectionate about their program too, good or bad. Maybe it feels so much more family from a ‘community’ feel?? Maybe the chicks are pheonominal ;). Either way it seems powerful. Or just SEC $$$ (I kid……maybe).
Fan reaction to above has is a much bigger disappointment than ‘losing’ these 2.
So thankful for TFB on days like these. That the crazies don’t start 1400 ‘the end is near’ threads.
Neals mom lives in Houston..he is staying with his dad in Lincoln. I thought his mom wanted him to come to OU
Right, felt like he was appeasing mom visiting & strongly considering OU. Surely mom would like him closer & he’d like to make her happy too. But his friends are in Lincoln now, that’s big to many kids. Dad too. He had a tweet just after his mom praised OU visit, saying ‘Lincoln next week’ with something else that looked to me that’s where his heart was. JMO
There is a very interesting thread over on LT about “The Network” at Ole Miss. Explains a lot about their recruiting tactics. It claims much of the SEC follows the same plan.
It’s definitely something beyond typical college draw. Gotta admit I’ve had plenty of skepticism of their tactics, but ultimately I have no idea. Could just as easily be an incredible atmosphere beyond what’s designed.
Again, the fans I’ve met are extremely supportive more as a ‘community’ perspective. That could be part of it too.
A big selling point for them this year is probably the momentum they are building. They had a great class last year and then this past season is their best ever I believe. If it was me I would pump them up about building a National Championship contender. SEC, best conference. And then lastly, here’s a BMW. 🙂
The PS thing is pretty clever…not my thing though…I need my guitar time
I thought that was very clever also, untraceable. Like you, if I look at a video game then my guitars, no question which one gets my time.
I think the last thing I owned was Sega genesis lol how long ago was that!
Ha, pretty old by today’s standards. I tried the PS when it came out then had to give it up.
I bought a guild d30 in 2000 and haven’t looked back…I fig why spend 50 on games alone when I could spend that on a pedals and such…you really only have so much time here ya know
All mine are acoustic but I have on board electronics and an amp. Tempted to get an electric some day, played my brother-in-laws some…pretty sweet. Just can’t make myself do it yet, probably because of my wife already complaining about the noise. LOL.
I hear ya..I’m acoustic as well but that doesn’t prevent the use of pedals if you wan’t to get a little more
I’ll have to look into it. I’ve only seen pedals used with acoustic for looping during a recording session, I’m not that good yet.
I’m just now getting to it…looping can transform the song and help blend a song together and enhanceimprove soloing…Keep it up buddy
That could be it, Oxford is close to “The Crossroads.”
http://youtu.be/-qQvXawnmjk
Not too concerned about missing out on Neal, didn’t seem like a need to get guy.
I think we missed out on both for the same reason, a ton of youth and depth at the two positions.
Josh Wariboko’s twitter bio now says “405 (plane emoji) 310″….i.e. “Norman to California.”
He’s going to UCLA
The hits keep on coming but this isn’t a surprise
Hang in there Zach, just a few more days.
Playing in another all-star game of some kind in California.
He gone.
Oof tough break. Just need to look to positions of need.
Mixon Stills Clay DeMarco kids that come so far to play for Oklahoma . ..are kids who give it all
They are tougher and more disciplined ….We dont want kids just becsuse….sadly this also shows how dysfunctional our staff is….once all the pieces are in place we’ll get ours..
Anyway no one has signed anything yet anyway….there’s a diamond in the rough out their we’ll find them…..we have a little more swagger in our foot step I feel it….
we need more coaches with NFL background who can connect that’s why Coach is waiting this out
you need foundation before you build
Boomer Sooner
Since it looks like we are going to strike out on LBs with McGinnis being the only real shot left…and him being more of an OLB, we still should need 2 inside LB. Houston is an SC lock until I see otherwise. But I say go after this kid who’s committed to Maryland. And try to get David long to flip from wvu.

I’m about the most optimistic person on here along with Super K but I will say this, I think it’s fine to spin these misses from last night on the fact that we were late to the show for their services and were only able to get into the show because we’re OU but this story is getting old. Maybe it happens every year and I’ve only been following recruiting for a couple of years now so I’ll have to get used to it. Maybe we’re putting too much hope in these guys we’re getting in late on, I don’t know but they never seem to work out. We seem to do better with guys that we offer early on, stay on top of and get to commit sometime before January.
I’m no recruiting pro but if we’re not getting a bunch of OV’s in the last 2 weeks and putting on a show for them, we’re not likely to get a bunch of commits this late in the game. I know there are multiple recruiting philosophies out there but it seems like we fall under the “no flash, just build quality relationships with guys and be honest, don’t trash other schools” approach. Our competition seems to be more of the “flash and bash” types that get the recruits that we miss on.
It appears recruits (yes even 17-18 year olds) can be put into 2 categories. 1) Those that know where they want to go, lock it in and call it a deal early on and 2) those that enjoy playing the recruiting game. If we want to get in on the guys that want to play the recruiting game, we need to save those OV’s for January and put on a show for them so we’re the last thing they remember. Having an OV in September in a win against Tennessee is distant memory from the fun they had 2 days ago and the sales pitch they got from “flash and bash”. Maybe we need to do a better job of identifying our recruits “recruiting philosophy” and schedule their OV’s accordingly. I know, but then you risk not getting and OV from a guy you really want because of scheduling…there’s so many factors, I know…HA!
“I’m no recruiting pro but if we’re not getting a bunch of OV’s in the
last 2 weeks and putting on a show for them, we’re not likely to get a
bunch of commits this late in the game.”
Last year proved otherwise. I get what you are saying, but the OU staff is waiting on the guys they want. Guys that have already visited. I’d argue that if you are waiting until the last two weeks to get guys on campus that you really want, you haven’t done your job all season.
I really like our class and I’m sure if we add a few more, they’ll be top notch guys to pad our nice class so I’m not down on this class at all. I guess I didn’t say it in this post but as I’ve said before, we always come up with a NSD surprise or two and I’m sure we will this year.
According to your last sentence though, that would mean teams that ARE getting guys on campus in the last 2 weeks and getting them to commit “haven’t done their job all season” but are still being rewarding for doing their job the last 2 weeks of the recruiting period. On the flip side, we (who have been doing our job) are getting left behind by those recruits because they visited somewhere else right before NSD. If we still have guys lined up that we want and we know they’ll commit on NSD, then why are we bothering getting involved with other guys late in the game that don’t commit?
Having no WR coach why would he pick OU?? Stoops needs to get on the ball and hire one!
Been awhile since I posted but I can’t resist anymore. No disrespect to any of the fine players on this list but I don’t care. At this point I care about the 1 and 2 star guys from small schools who are ballers. Any school can offer the 4 and 5 star guys but finding the hidden guys who are out there is where recruiting really is a skill. Look at the number of 2 star guys playing in the pro bowl. OU has done some of this already by bringing in the kid Sims as a preferred walk on. He has a chance to be special.
