The Path to Norman

Deion Burks played high school football in Michigan. He had a relatively light offer sheet out of high school and ended up at Purdue. After a redshirt season and a season of getting his feet wet, Burks exploded in 2023. After a big season, he entered the transfer portal and landed with the Sooners.

Career so Far

Burks took a redshirt season in 2021, playing in four games and seeing a handful of touches.

In 2022, Burks played in all 14 games, but was used sparingly in the passing game. He caught seven passes for 80 yards, along with recovering a fumble for a touchdown.

His redshirt sophomore campaign was a big one. Burks was a season-long starter, leading the team in receptions and receiving yards.

Burks’ first season at OU was an unfortunately short one; he was one of several receivers to go down to injury in the 2024 season. Despite playing in only five games, Burks still managed to finish the season second on the team in receptions, third in receiving yards, and first in receiving touchdowns.
