The Path to Norman
Javonnie Gibson, out of Louisiana, has scaled the college ranks since high school. He started at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, a DII school where he spent two seasons. After that, he jumped to the FCS level at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Following a prolific season, Gibson moved to the FBS level to join the Sooners.
Career so Far
Gibson took a redshirt season in 2022 and did not play.
In his second year at Arkansas at Monticello, he played in all 11 games of the season, racking up some stats and hauling in four touchdowns.
2024 was Gibson’s only season at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and certainly his most productive. He led his team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns, with his receiving yardage the fourth-most in the FCS. Gibson earned second-team FCA All-America honors for the year.

Highlights
This Season
Unfortunately, Gibson suffered a leg injury in the spring and was sidelined for a large part of the offseason. He has seen some action in fall camp and seems on track to return by game two of the season. If healthy, he can be a big factor in a receiver room desperate for an improvement on last season.
