The Path to Norman

Alex Shieldnight, an Oklahoma product out of Wagoner, was a member of the 2025 class. The EDGE received his OU offer, which was his first, in December, 2022. Over the next year, he received offers from Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, and more. Despite these offers, Shieldnight made several visits to Norman and committed toward the end of 2023, roughly a year before his eventual signing day.

The EDGE room this fall be an extremely talented one. Despite losing several experienced players, including Ethan Downs, the group kept key pieces and added another. R Mason Thomas will be the clear leader, with Taylor Wein, Marvin Jones, and PJ all set to see significant snaps. Shieldnight will likely redshirt in 2025 and prepare to be a contributor later in his career.
