The Path to Norman
David Stone was a member of the 2024 recruiting class. A native of the Sooner state, Stone played high school football at Del City for two seasons before switching to IMG Academy for his final two. The elite defensive lineman was a 5* player and one of the top 10 highest-ranked recruits ever to sign with OU. He had his choice in program, with offers from almost the entire country. Stone’s top six included OU, Michigan State, Miami, Oregon, Alabama, and Texas A&M. Stone committed in August 2023 and was part of an incredible DL class for the Sooners.

Highlights
This Season
Stone is too good to not play in his freshman season. Of the 14 defensive linemen listed on this week’s depth chart, Stone is one of three true freshmen (along with another two redshirt-freshmen) to make an appearance. Although he is listed third at defensive tackle (an “or” alongside Davon Sears), the staff is clearly impressed with the young man; expect to see him become a regular piece of the rotation by season’s end.
