The Path to Norman
Taylor Tatum was a big addition to the 2024 OU recruiting class. The number one running back in the class hailed from the state of Texas and was a two-sport star, also playing baseball. Basically every top program in the country had offer Tatum, with USC being a major factor in his recruitment. OU offered Tatum early in the recruiting cycle, then got him to campus for ChampU BBQ in the summer of 2023. After that, the Sooners jumped in the lead and landed a commitment within a month.
#Sooners pick up a massive addition to the #24k class as the number one running back in the nation, @taylortatum06 commits to #OU and @DeMarcoMurray

Highlights
This Season
Tatum didn’t join the team until the summer, but was then one of the names most frequently mentioned as standing out. The running back room will have Gavin Sawchuk as the clear starter. After that, however, the pecking order is far less clear. Sam Franklin, Jovantae Barnes, and Kalib Hicks have all played college ball, but Tatum has generated enough buzz to think he will contribute at running back and maybe even punt return as a true freshman.
